i am a mom who is around alot of snack food.. and usually i can resist it.. so far.. certain "times" of the month are very tough.. but i am trying to staying stocked with lower calorie alternatives so i am not caught off guard.. like I bought an 8 pack of reeses.. each one is 80 cal... so if i have a real pb and choc attack i can have one with not too much guilt... those sf fudge pops are only 45... don't get me started on oreos.. I found a way to eat just one tho.. I get a 1/2 c of sf/ ff choc pudding and crush 1 oreo in it and top with 1 T ff w/c OMG !! really hits the spot for pretty low cal.. so I still incorp desserts when I really want them but make em my way.. I find when i eat choc it leaves an after taste i don't like so I really have to waant it!
I buy light ruffles very low cal.. so if I want some chips.. I can.. they are treats not every day eatings tho... I try to really limit my processed foods.. I want to try to add more legumes in my diet daily.. but higher in cal... gonna start having like bean and salsa cheese burritos(home made) for lunch .. a few days a week.. well bye everyone.. scales read down another pound.. hope it stays that way..(232) i officially WI on wed.. bye!! Well I lost one more pound, and today is the first day of logging EVERYTHING into Fitday. I know it will be slow in the beginning, but with time, hopefully it will get easier and I'll understand all of the figure talk better!:?: :dizzy:

I had my weigh in today and I was down 3 pounds. So it's really only a 1 pound loss after my 2 pound gain last week! I'm happy just to see the scale moving again! |

Deficit yesterday was 787 and that was with some wine so not too bad. Hope everyone has a great week-end, we are sticking close to home for meals so that will help my calories!!! Phyllis |

Hello :) This is my first post here. You all are doing great, it is so inspiring!
I have a question...I have gone to several different websites to get my metabolic rate, but I get different numbers. Fitday says I burn over 2700 calories a day and other sources say around 2400 calories a day. I have been using the lower number just to be safe. Has anyone else had this experience? |
Oh yes, we have Violet! Those calculators are notoriously off. You're smartest to try the lower one first. It'll be a nicer surprise if it's off a bit. It's just plain nasty to lead women to believe they use thousands of calories and then see them disappointed and quitting because calorie counting doesn't work. It does work but the most accurate numbers take a while to find.

Violet - what a great job! I shoot for around 1500 and was at 1600 today, so I am doing well. I walked on my treadmill every day this week, so I hope to see a loss on Monday! Only blew my calories horribly once this week.

One of the best things about fitday is that you can get averages. I had one day this week at 3200 calories eaten! No deficit that day!

Phillis - I love fitday! I eat alot of the same foods so now it is so fast. I downloaded the PC version and really like it. All my custom foods are my frozen dinners that I eat for lunch every day, and it is such a time saver now.
Today I am on track. Ate my standard breakfast, walked on my treadmill, and now off to work. We are eating in tonight, so hopefully I can stay in my range again today! |
Meigg, you are doing great :) I have a tough time making myself exercise- you did really good to exercise every day this week.
Phyllis, You are right, eating out can be so difficult when trying to keep the calories in check. At least some restaurants are offering lower calorie options now (besides grilled chicken and salad that is, lol). Susan, I had one of those 3000 calorie days this week too. It is amazing how quickly the calories can pile up sometimes! Today I did pretty good, I have a 1370 calorie deficit. I dropped my calories a bit lower (to 1200) to try to make up for a "bad" day I had a couple days ago. I also got in about 20 minutes of pilates- which is good for me..I am BAD about the exercise. |
Thanks Violet! I am really trying today. I even brought out my scale to measure 4 ounces of meat loaf. I cut a slice and put it on the scale and it was over 7!!! It really amazed me. Here I thought I was good at eyeballing portions. This is why I am best when I eat simple foods that I know the calories of, and frozen dinners.

Well, Lynne I didn't count over the week-end either but I know I didn't do badly as I am weighed in this morning and I am down 3 lbs. since last Monday !!!!

I'm happy too this am. I have just lost 4 lbs in a little over a week. I hadn't moved the ticker to show the gain so now it is accurate again.:carrot: Phyllis:bravo: I totally agree on the measuring, particularly on certain items. Measuring and journaling also help me know what I'm consuming - like, do I really need those extra servings, no, I can wait, another meal or snack is just around the corner and I wont starve. |

Hi Clarabr, welcome. I read your intro. I want to repeat what a dif exercise (for me its walking) makes for me. I rebelled against it for years. In OA I had the wieight off w/o it. I felt it should be an extra, on top of the weight loss and food program, not something I should have to include to be on a losing or maintenance plan. (what if something happened and I couldn't exercise? then I'd gain - dummy).
Well, I finally ran for the door with sneakers on last year. I just couldn't stand my top weight and I realized if I wasn't williing to eat less I was going to have to start working off some of the calories. HMMMMMMMM- I should be out there now. Bye:running: |

Okay so I kind of fell off the map for a few weeks. Moved out and got a temporary new assignment at work that kept me away from here. I don't think I ate as bad as I could because a lot of times I just didn't have the junk to binge in my apartment. Not saying I ate the best! :o Fitday says I averaged 1396 calories a day for the last two weeks which is below my maintenance but I am worried that on the days when I was trying to catch up with my log that I was forgetting foods that I ate so it may not be entirely accurate. Anyways as my heroine Scarlett O'Hara says, tomorrow is another day! Or today even! Worked out a little yesterday, deficit of 381 and starting again, again. :D |

Hey! The scale's moving again! My calories have been better (2200-2300 instead of 2800-3000) so it's not really a surprise, but it's great to see. I broke up with my gf about a month ago and I don't really know anyone else in this town, so until I move back home in a month, I plan to really focus on the weightloss. Let people notice when I get back and hopefully, start dating again soon. :D
