ooooooooohhhhhhhh there's men in here
|
REBECA --- Even though you weight in every morning, because I do too, do you have one set day a week, meaning the same one weekly, to weigh in? I'm just curious as to how often and when everyone weighs in? And BTW, I meant to tell you before that your pic is very pretty!:dizzy: ;)
|
Every morning! I record it somewhere if it sticks for a couple of days.
|
Hi all! I've been doing it "the old school way" for over a week now.
I weigh myself every morning, just once. I record the date, weight and calories of everything I eat in a pocketsize spiral bound notebook and carry it wherever I go. I don't record calories burned through excersize and negate them out through food. I have to stick to my cal limit...excersize or not. I used to do fitday, and have the home PC version, but got too wrapped up in the numbers and charts. This way, each day is a new page, I constantly see my weight at the top, and I'm not going to punish myself for downfalls. 5lbs so far! |
Michelle- Thanks! Looking at ur pic there is no way you need to loose over 100lbs! But I do weight in on MONDAY! Thats the weight that I log in and count with! Me and SIL have a weight loss challenge going on so both of us get on the scale Monday nights and see how much each one of us have lost!
|
REBECA --- Thanks for the compliment, but I really do need to lose that amount of weight. In high school, I weighed 115, and the day I got married I weighed 122. I'm really not for sure what my final goal weight should be, but I'm thinking 145 will be pretty good.:^:
|
Michelle-I dont know what it is about marriage but the moment you say I DO you gain all of these weight that no one knows where it came from! I gained 40lbs in two years...I didnt think it was physically possible but it sure was!
|
I weigh every morning but do my offical on Mondays too.
Great loss Meigg.....wooohooo And Michelle I also weighed 115 in high school....ahh those were the days! Phyllis |
PHYLLIS --- Yes those were the days! I thought I looked and felt so good, but some people accused me of being anorexic, but anyone who knew me, would know I can NEVER go without eating LOL! I'm only 5'4" but I'm a larger frame, so since having two kids and being on thyroid meds for the past 14 years, I'm thinking 145 pounds will be a good goal, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see when I get there!;) :D
|
Elyse congrats on loosing 4 pounds!
Everyone on this thread is doing such a good job! I've been staying pretty much OP. Still a little higher on the calories then I like today. 1750 calories, 929 deficit, 45 minutes curves |
Had a deficit of 469 yesterday.....it was a higher cal. day for me but I am still down on the scales. I am trying to stay at 1500 but had 1919 cal. yesterday but it was one of those days where I was starving all day. I did however eat healthy foods and snacks....that is a HUGE improvement.
Phyllis |
Michelle Couldn't resist the scale this am. What I do is what someone else said, maybe Susan, give a new number a chance to stick, and then record it.
|
Everyone seems to be doing really well. Just logged on to say that I did eat out last night, and did not bother to calculate. But, I did my treadmill walking this morning, so I am feeling good. Today I am staying on plan!
|
ELYSE --- I like that idea also with seeing if a number sticks for a couple of days and then recording it. I just cannot go a morning without stepping on the scale to make sure I'm staying OP!:D
|
Meigg, I'm going to encourage you to try to calculate your dinner out. I think it will help you learn to eat out healthily and will help you with the concept of averaging your calories over time.
What if it wasn't so bad? What if the only problem was the garlic bread? What if you'd left a little part of each dish on your plate? |
I ended up at 1590 cals yesterday. Plan was 1420. Oh well. That was close enough. I was starving. I walked for 46 minutes.
Today's plan is 1510. We'll see. No time for exercise today because I have to watch our premiere in the world cup! |
I have a couple questions with Fitday. Which area do I click on once I'm signed on to see what they figure my daily calorie intake should be? The other question is, the figure they give me, am I supposed to subtract 1000 from that total to lose 2 pounds per week, and then add my calories from exercise back in? I'm so confused with this whole thing???:?:
|
Which area do I click on once I'm signed on to see what they figure my daily calorie intake should be? I don't think it does.
am I supposed to subtract 1000 from that total to lose 2 pounds per week? No, if you subract 1000 cals from whatever you were eating before.... then add my calories from exercise back in .... no, you can use those as a minus. for instance say you eat 500 cals less and move 200 cals more, you'll have a deficit (from your normal) of 700 cals. Ask more, we'll help you. |
SUSAN --- The reason why I asked if I could click on something once I'm signed in to see the calorie range they would assign me is because I forgot the range they originally gave me.:?: I'm sorry I keep asking questions, but this is very confusing to me; anything to do with math just gets to me sometimes.:dizzy:

Good Afternoon! How is everybody doing?..Well I have been away..but I am back. Went to the Doc yesterday and am so pleased that since I started seeing her I have lost 19 lbs (feb) I was really worried about that visit since I have been NOt on plan for a month. I have lowered my BP but haven't gotten my chol. results back yet!...Yea! I am back on the wagon...whew..it was really hard chasing that wagon......Everyone here has been such an inspiration and I am so thankful to be a part of this forum..I think that any other time I would have just quit. Thanks for keeping me accountable!
Have a great day and see ya later....lighter!!!:D |
Hi Blyn!
Michelle, quit apologizing. I like to help really I do :) Let me know if I sound condescending, I don't mean to. Did they give you a range? Hmmm .... I don't remember back that far. ;) Your version could be different from my online one. Maybe that's it. Let me scan back in this thread and see if you've ever mentioned it. |
Hey Everyone! So I had my week 4 weigh-in today! (I'm calorie counting and trying to get some exercise in - swimming.) And I've lost 10pds in 4 weeks! Just this morning I lost 5 for the week! :) So, needless to say, I've had a great morning so far, lol.
Have a good day, and stay on track! :) Melissa :cb: :carrot: :cb: |
SUSAN --- I do have the same version as you do, not the PC version. I know when I first signed up with Fitday, they gave me a calorie amount to start with and I can't remember if it was 2200 or 2400, but I thought that was way too high to lose weight with. I guess I just need to pick a range to start with and try it.
|
Michelle ... What have you been doing lately? the 2200?
Can you make a link? maybe if I could have a look? |
SUSAN --- I erased everything I had input because I got a little frustrated and started writing everything down on my own. I have been going between 1500-1600 range, but not sure if this is too low or too high for me?:?:

The one problem with fitday, as a number of members of 3FC seem to agree, is that it tends to overestimate how many calories you burn. So be aware of that. The easiest way to see how you're doing (without any math!) is to click over to "reports" and "Am I burning the calories I eat?" It'll show you how much you ate per day vs. how much you burned per day. If you burn significantly more than you eat, you'll lose weight! |
Thanks so much for that info!!!:^:
|
Michelle,
This is the math that I do: One lbs= 3500 calories If you want to lose a little over one lbs a week you want to keep it between 1200 and 1500... But as long as you eat less than you burn you will lose weight! But do not go under 1200cal or your metabolism will go in starvation mode and you will not lose weight at all! |
Hi ladies!
Deficit of 602 yesterday, feeling pretty good about that. Bucked up the courage to weigh myself last night and have NOT gained any weight (or if I did I lost it again after 2 days of good eating). I am quite relieved, I had really started to fear I was packing them on again but looks like I have another chance to try again. Michelle, the way most of us figured out how many calories our bodies REALLY burn is through trial and error. If you know how many you're eating, you get that average for say a month, and know how many lbs you've lost in a month, you can do backwards back to figure out your daily calories consumed in an average month. My Fitday's "basal" number I think is closely accurate to my daily life w/o exercise (I work a desk job, I don't do a lot of activity naturally unless I add it in) so I add exercise to my basal to get calories burned. It's probably not exact, but what is? I need more than the scale to keep my going. Good luck and glad to see you here :D |
I have no qualms with Michelle starting at 1600-1800 cals. Anyone else?
Hi Miles! |
1065 yesterday. Way too little, but the only thing I was craving after dinner was something chocolatey...and I didn't have anything. So instead of forcing myself to eat something I really didn't want, I went without.
Lately I've been ending my days too short - I think my problem is that I spend all day eating light, because most of my cals are consumed once I get home from work and make dinner for the boyfriend and myself. But now if I make a healthy dinner (like last night's skinless boneless chicken tenders, salad and whole grain rice and bulgur)...I still end up with a large deficit. |
OK. I've been doing WW (4th time in 20 yrs.) since Jan. and am pleased with results so far, but these last 2 months was fighting with the last 3 lbs. up and down. Finally went down 1.4 last WI. I decided to use my Fitday about 5 days ago. I don't know if I have my settings right. I do daycare in my home for two 2 yr olds and two 4 yr olds, so I set my lifestyle at "housework" setting. I don't know if this is the right setting for me. I do a lot of moving first thing in the am preparing breakfast, cleaning up, changing diapers, dressing,etc. It seems that I'm not eating enough if I look at the calories in vs. calories out. Anyone have an opinion? Any help is appreciated:}}
|
Sorry, thought my Fitday would show up, but maybe it takes a while? I just decided to make my records "public". Will try again later to bring it up.
|
I'll try this one more time. If not...HELP! How do I get my Fitday to be available on this thread? I feel sooooo computer un-savvy tonite!:}}
|
You can either edit your profile with your fitday username and allow it to link under your avatar or you can go to your main fitday page and copy and paste the link you see there :)
|
Thanks Val! I'll try it one more time!! Where in Hawaii are you. My DH and I finally got to go there 2 wks in Sept. last yr. Our 3 kids gave us a surprise 30th Anniv. and that was our gift. We were on Oahu for 1 wk and Maui for the 2nd. Gotta go again! We loved it. I've got a neice who lives in Honolulu. Take care. Thanks again for the help:}}
|
One more time!!Sorry if this is annoying you guys. I won't try again after this one.
|
There is a spot I think in your profile just under where you type in the location you live. You will type in the username there that you use at Fitday, and then once in your Fitday account, on your main page, just click at the bottom to make journal public. Hope this helps!;)

Hello,
I have been doing good keeping the calories in check- I lost 2 pounds this week- I am really excited! I can't wait to get out of the 220's!!! Today I had a deficit of 1143 calories :) and I drank oodles of water thank to that crystal light stuff they have to add to water bottles now. That stuff is so yummy! Netflower, I like to save up my calories for a nice supper a lot of times too (just on my days off work, on work days I won't cook, lol). It is really satisfying to have a nice meal like that once a day. Ripples, I don't know how to get the fitday link to show up under the avatar, but you can put the link from Fitday in your signature in the Fatchicks user control panel. That is how I got my blog link in :) |
Violet congrats on the 2 pounds lost :cp: :cheer:
I had a good day today! Tuesday: 1325 calories, 1304 deficit , 35 minutes cardio, 20 minutes weights |
