So AJsMa ... all you have to do is readjust your activity levels to reflect what's really been happening.

Morning everyone!

Morning all .

Deficit yesterday of 352 and some good news this morning. Weighed myself at the gym and I've lost those 2lbs I was moaning about last week, it looks like it was water retention from TOM. I'm back to 181 and feeling very relieved .

Ajsma - don't get discouraged!

Flying visit, I'm at work and supposed to be working the month end deadline. Oops!

AJsMa - happens to me all the time, and it feels like it takes so long to bring down those monthly averages. Don't sweat it just keep going.

Lena - I'll bet that's how most of my days would be if I didn't try, you are doing pretty good on your other days!

Mornin Susan!

Donna - sometimes it's good to take a rest day, your body needs it. I'm sure you noticed the drop in appetite that went along with it too.

Lynne - congrats on the loss!

I am having a good morning all around. Sunday's deficit was better than I thought it would be - 572 and yesterday's was 366(Monday always my rest day). The better news is I am counting my next 2 lb loss. It's almost 2 weeks to the day that I counted my last one so I am right on target for 1 lb a week. Now I just need to keep working on vegetables, exercise, and weekends!

What's up with the veggies, Miles. You just don't like them or they don't seem to fit ??? Maybe we can help you.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE veggies! (not a fruit fan, lol). But they take such work to chop up and prepare. I think it comes to laziness...and always having to stock fresh ones as they go bad so quickly. My meats can stay refrigerated, my rice can stay boxes, and my beans can stay canned...but veggies often go bad before I have to time to make/eat them all. Not to mention fiance doesn't eat them (which is fine, I won't force him) so I'm eating my whole cache of veggies myself. Any suggestions?

Precut is expensive, yes? I eat baby carrots like they're going out of style.
I use a lot of frozen. I just throw some in boiling water and add it to supper. Protein, salad and another vegetable.
What about babyfood squash?

I just find vegetables hard to fit into meals sometimes, as nonsensical as that seems. I think part of it is due to my old lifestyle. I simply didn't eat that many veggies as a seperate part of my meal. I used to eat a lot of pre-packed frozen meals etc. Or stews which might have had a cup of veggies in the whole pot. Now though, I am tending to eat meals which consist of 1 part protein, 1 part veggie, 1 part complex carb (usually brown rice). Even now, I find it hard to fit in 5 servings of fruit and veg per day. Or 5 servings of veg and 3 servings of fruit or whatever is the latest recommended amount. Can anyone confirm what that is for me, btw?

Most of the time I have to remind myself to add the vegetable to the meal. I also eat baby carrots and cherry tomatoes as my morning snack. It can be hard if you weren't used to eating veggies in the past.

Just my 2 pence worth.

Thanks for the congrats Blues, needed to hear that today .

3-5 servings

1 cup of raw leafy vegetables
1/2 cup of other vegetables -- cooked or chopped raw
3/4 cup of vegetable juice

I found this at fiday.com BTW ... some good reading on the pyramid.

It's easy to get vegetables in within your calorie range because they're almost forgiveable. While it does make a calorie difference if you have 1 cup of rice compared to the 1/2 cup you meant to have, over doing salad greens doesn't. Speaking of salad ... have you measured it? No problems getting several servings in one sitting.

oh and fruits 2-4 servings like ....1 medium apple, banana, orange
1/2 cup of chopped, cooked, or canned fruit
3/4 cup of fruit juice

All right, you may have inspired me to head to Vons today and buy some veggies...I think I'll start with pre-cut/packaged types while I can still afford them. Trying to go cheap and buying everything whole meant I just didn't eat as much as I should. Was thinking too of maybe buying a veggie tray on a weekly basis and leaving it in the break room. Across the street they had muffins in their break room, and I thought, why not veggies in ours!

I was surprised when I read all that stuff about the pyramid. It's not really all that much ... the fruits and vegetables I mean.

Yup, anywhere from 1.5 cups to 3 cups of different kinds of veggies could be your daily 3 servings.

We went out for supper tonight. Guess what the vegetable was? Baby carrots! No joke!

I even had dessert and still came in with about a 400 cal deficit.
Sad really. If I tried just a bit harder (read here any exercise) it'd easily be over a pound a week. Hmmm ...

Hello All! Still feeling frustrated! (I believe TOM is making me a little emotional, too). But, I had a deficit of about 900 calories. I truly believe my calories burned are pretty accurate as I have run them on several different sites.

Veggies - I love veggies! I've got my kid believe grape tomatoes are a desert! My co-worker thinks I'm a freak b/c I will happily forgo meat at a meal for a hummus wrap or a veggie sandwich. Be creative with veggies.

Have a good day tomorrow!

Morning All .

Deficit yesterday was 896.

Ajsma - hang in there, TOM makes me emotional too, it will pass!

So, in order to lose 1lb a week, what deficit per day should I be looking at? 500?
