Hooray, Blyn! Great deficit! What movie are you going to see? It's been ages since I went to a movie! I'm so glad you'll be cyberwalking with us! See you in Hopedale!
Another great deficit for Susan! You *have* had a great week! Well done!
My deficit was 1,119 for yesterday, but that's not what I'm most excited about. For the first time since I got my pedometer, I managed to log 10,000 steps every day, Monday through Friday! That's my goal, 10K a Day, M-F and this week, I finally hit it! Yeah, baby!
WOW everyone is having such great dificits this week..
Angie- you are looking good...you are saying bye bye to that stomach...keep it up.
Yesterday was good...deficit of 779...gym for almost 2 hours but only 15min was cardio...went to a comedy club last night...it was fun...hoping to make it to the gym tonight after work if not too tired...I have to work till 10pm..
Well I am there with you now in Hopedale! Beautiful there but a little chilly. We are going to see Failure to Launch! I can't wait! Love Matthew! DH and I are movie freaks..we go almost every weekend. Hopefully I will have a NSV and avoid the blasted popcorn. It's really a challenge.
we watched Failure to launch last week..It's great...Yeah you got to love Matthew..I'm a movie freak too thats why I manage a video store...Free movie rentals(yeah baby)...but I have gotten a little behind....now that I'm working out more I haven't had much time to watch anything...
It's been a crazy week and I've missed out on my exercise and eaten too much. The good news is even though I've eaten a lot of bad stuff, I've squeezed in more veggies/fruit than usual. Okay, I will post to remind myself how stupid this was:
Wednesday: 569
Thursday: 145
Friday: 71
Saturday: (-750)
And ugh I feel miserable for it. Put in six hours of overtime this week on top of work/school/etc, but that's NO EXCUSE! Just when my body needed the extra nutrients and energy that good food and exercise would have provided I deprived it. Have knocked off all my exercise goals, going to exercise tonight and start again with a weekly goal tomorrow. Wish me luck.
Movie was Awesome! Loved it! and the best part! NO POPCORN nope not one single morsel!....Hooray for me!... I had a great day!
I have my first day since having my pedometer of 10379 steps
and I had a deficit of ....1398 I am so excited!
Well must go and pass out now! I posted of my pedometer experience in the coast to coast thread...now I must pass out!
Yesterday, I had crappy food, crappy percentages but I did have a deficit. Almost 300 cals And I finally had the woosh I was waiting for. Yesterday it looked like I weighed a bit less but I'll take the two pounds that was there this morning.
Now, gals comes the struggle for me. My self confidence is pretty shaky about staying under 130. I've been here a few times before. Oi!
Oh, my gosh, Susan, that's F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!!!!!! Congratulations!!! I'm so happy for you!
Wow, Byln, that takes some steel will to bypass movie popcorn. Heck, I've been known to go in just for the popcorn and forget about seeing a movie! Glad you enjoyed the flick! And awesome job on the steps! You're off to a great start! And what a fabulous deficit, too! There's no stopping you!
Oh, Miles, dear . You had so much to coordinate this week! Good for you for getting in more F&V! And you'll get right back next week, I know you will!
It must be great to have access to so many movies, Donna! I'm renting more, re-watching some old faves. I watch in bits and spurts, often while treadmilling (unless I'm watching network TV, like AI). I'm currently working on Little Big Man.
Oh, yeah, I'm supposed to post my results for yesterday... On Fitday, it came in about about 900, but that's based on me puttering around on a weekend day, like I usually do. Yesterday, I took a good long nap so I know I didn't burn as many active calories as I typically do. If I decreased calories burned to account for that, I'd estimate the real deficit was closer to 500, if that much!
did great on eating and exercise yesterday ..deficit was 1184..
Blyn-great job passing on the popcorn..it's so tempting..my friend always gets a big bag and I have to sit there trying not to reach over and get a big handfull..
I had a deficit of over 900 yesterday ... only because I worked and worked out. It had nothing to do with good eating!
I'm having a notion about fluid retention and that 2 lb fluctuation some mornings. It vaguely has something to do with carby snacks in the evening. I'm going to study up a bit more and I'll get back to you about it. It might be a very individual thing but who knows? Anyone else have any thoughts on that?
Good Monday Morning, everybody! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!
Donna and Susan, nice deficits for you both! Well done!
I hadn't thought about fluctuations in terms of being a response to speficic food groups. It'll be interesting to see what you come up with, Susan.
I had been thinking of the daily fluctuations as "balance bobbling". You know how when you get on one of those sliding weights scales, the needle sort of bobbles up and down until it settles at your weight? I was looking at the daily fluctuations as the little bobbling up and down around a center point.
If nothing else were to change, and if I were to stay perfectly still, my weight would settle down at the middle point, like it eventually does on the sliding weight scale. Of course, as soon as I hop off the scale, I start my daily routines. I eat, I move, I do whatever. I purposely try to manipulate calories to force it to go down. My body also does its own thing -- it retains water, it puffs up for TOM. So the weight never gets to actually "settle down". Hence, it bobbles up and down and I get little daily fluctuations.
At least, that's a theory I came up with. I could be wrong!
Oh, yeah, deficit. 451 for me yesterday, and that was *with* a 45 minute walk! ((shudders to think of what it would have been without the walk!))
BlynC - excellent deficit! That must have made you so proud, and wtg and overcoming the popcorn temptation that is a toughy. I wish movie theatres would let you bring in your own low-cal microwaveable stuff
Susan - WTG on the loss! I know how you have been hanging out at that threshold for a long time, and I am sure you are going to hang onto it this time. Anyways, think how much better it is now than it was way back when you started...that's what I keep reminding myself when the scale doesn't behave.
Lena - I was napping yesterday too. Wasn't it nice? I think we needed it, and I've heard sleep helps your weight loss...there was some documentary on sleep on TV I wanted to see, but I think it was on too late
Donna - NICE deficit, and wtg on both the eating and the exercise!
I'd be interested to hear what you come up with Susan. I always attribute 2lb changes to water. I'm about 2 lbs lower in the mornings and I figure that's from dehydration. Similarly, if I work out or perform some physical activity but don't get in my water, I'm lower again. I gain about 2 lbs throughout the day, but I think it's more to do with how fluid-heavy my food is. I think sodium can show up for me the next morning, but hadn't noticed carb problems. Interesting though, do let us know what you find out.
Deficit of -ugh- 237 yesterday. I was going to workout *more* but started getting a little sick so had to call it quits. Hoping to squeeze in some walking today but I don't know, Monday is my busy day. The good news is I've already started the day with some strawberries. They were delicious. I think they've become one of my new favorite snacks. Payday is friday and then I can finally go out and get some more fruits/veggies. Maybe fiance and I will go out sooner, that would be nice...
Hello all, no deficit for me over the weekend, ate well but then cheated and had some candy and didn't enter it. Oops .
Should have something for you all tomorrow.
I bought new shoes over the weekend, they are lovely. Slingback, black with kitten heel, very meow. My pants are feeling a bit loose today too and it's that TOM! I weight next week when TOM is gone, so we'll see what has transpired .
BlynC and Donna - great deficits!
Lena - I also napped yesterday lol and I never nap. Getting out of bed was fun this morning too, the alarm went off (hubbie is out of town so nobody to wake me up ), and I rocketed out of bed, hit the dresser, bounced off the dresser and into the chest of drawers that my tv sits on. Luckily no harm done, maybe I should pad the walls of my bedroom till hubbie gets back . I guess I was just ready to get up and go to the gym?
Ok, I ended up at Quackwatch looking for some clue as to why I seem to have a higher weight the morning after a carby bedtime snack than I do if I have a shake or something higher in protein.
It has to do with the difference in the way we metabolise carbs and proteins. Ya know in the commercials how folks on extremely low carb diets lose so much weight at the beginning? It's kinda like that. The metabolism of proteins takes fluid with it TEMPORARILY. It's a form of dehydration
So yes, the loss is real. But it's not the difference between retaining fluid and being properly hydrated .... it's the difference between being properly hydrated and dehydrated. Not good.
When you then carry on and eat your normal foods (which include good carbs, right?) you suck back up the water you've lost. While it may have been a nice perk some mornings, it wasn't true and it wasn't healthy.
Clear as mud?
Hi Lynne, we were posting at the same time. You're shrinking! How great is that!?
I love to have a nap occasionally. In fact I'm going to nap today while my house is all quiet. Very nice!
