NorthernExposure 01-10-2011 09:11 AM

Good morning,

I haven't been on here since Friday morning so I've missed some chatter. I will try to catch up later when I'm not at work. Girls' weekend away was fun. I didn't do horribly with my eating, but didn't do great either. On the plus side, I stayed away from alcohol, but on the negative side I did too much snacking (someone just HAD to bring chocolate chex mix and white cheddar popcorn...two of my favorites!)

Anyway, it's Monday and I'm back on track, going to have a fully OP workweek. Hopefully the scale will be kind on Friday!

Hope everyone's week is off to a good start.

NorthernExposure 01-10-2011 09:13 AM

Just wanted to add my condolences to Lori's family. We are thinking about you!!

NorthernExposure 01-10-2011 09:17 AM

Jiggle: I still have the TSP's! I actually wore them this past weekend. I posted a pic with me in them somewhere on the last challenge....not sure if you saw it?

If anyone else is ready for them (size 16's), please PM me your address and I will pass them along!

Ok, I really need to quit slacking and get back to work (and stop spamming this board, lol.) Catch you guys later!!

natamars 01-10-2011 09:26 AM

Lori, please accept my condolences - your family is in my thoughts.

Ended up at 1365 calories for Sunday and 40 minutes on the treadmill, including 3 running segments totalling 1.5 miles. Feels good.

jigglefree 01-10-2011 09:45 AM

I'm getting pretty consistent with my eating and working out. We are off today because of the snow and sleet. SOOOO I'll be on the treadmill today. I'm also doing a little homeschooling with the two year old. They are going over the alphabet and letter sounds as well as numbers. It seems to me they are getting earlier with these things. Then lunch, naptime and some creative play. Hubby is still sleeping so he will be in charge of creative play after nap.

Northern - Was it exciting when you got in the TSPs? It was for me. I was thinking about you and those pants and wondering who would be next. I have to go back to the last challenge to see the pic because I totally missed that.

VickieLou 01-10-2011 10:00 AM

Lori here is a . I'm so Sorry about your Niece. Prayers go out for You and Your Family.

megems 01-10-2011 11:58 AM

Lori - Your family are in my thoughts!

Had my office holiday party last night (I know, a little late, but it was the only time we could fit it in), and ate more then I should have, but didn't over indulge. I know I went over my calorie intake by about 400 - 500 calories. But I stuck to the foods that were filled with veggies or white meat.

I took off yesterday from exercise! I had worked out Monday - Saturday so I think my body for sure needed to rest.

Decided my official weigh-in date will be Tuesdays. I watch myself on the weekends, but I am out of my routine on Saturday & Sunday's ~ and I usually take Sunday's as a rest day from exercise, so I think I see a better number on Tuesdays. It's all mental I know! But I would rather see a larger weight loss. It makes me work that much harder the following week to make sure that number stays down! Is this crazy of me?

As of today - already got in an hour of strength training, and have spin class tonight. Food is completely planned & journaled for my entire day (except journaling dinner - which will be Turkey Burgers), so feeling good about starting this week off on the right track! I will be sure to post my progress for this challenge after my weigh in tomorrow!!!

fruitlady 01-10-2011 02:06 PM

Hi chicks- Lori- so sorry to hear of your loss, my prayers are with you.

I've been sick for a couple days, have no appetite. It's a virus or flu. So I've been doing fine on calories. I hope I can eat enough today, have nausea. I gained 2.5lbs for no reason though, I even forced myself to workout while sick. I barely even want to eat, how can I gain???

misspriss78 01-10-2011 03:12 PM

Lori-:hug::hug: Your family is in my thoughts. So sorry to hear of your loss. More:hug::hug::hug:

im just popping in to say hey. No loss this week. My eating hasn't been consistent enough for it. But i will get my DH to measure me tomorrow and maybe i can see a loss in that. My jeans are starting to be a little loose so i know im doing something right!;) My problem is i love to workout and i find it makes me really hungry....:o lmao

Todays workout, 50min run interval on treadmill + total upper body weight lifting. Total calories burned: 750. Tomorrow will be a rest day then i will hit the weights and the cardio again on Wednesday!

Have a good day!

jiggle You got your off-work wish! Yay! And go you for putting it to good use with the treadmill!

Northern White cheddar popcorn sounds really weird. Hah. Good to hear you're doing well though!

misspriss I wish your problem was my problem - I wish I loved to workout! I am seriously slacking in that area at the moment.

~Still holding steady at 148.8 pounds. Had 1480 calories yesterday but no exercise...and 250 of those came from a delicious icecream. I don't mind though, it fit in my calories and I enjoyed it. I have Zumba after work today, I think I'm going to get my a** kicked since it will be the most intense exercise I've done in a couple of weeks. I am not prepared.

moonkissed 01-10-2011 07:07 PM

Well Sunday was my first weigh in and I lost a whole ZERO lbs :( Kindof sucks. But I also kindof expected it. Losing nothing is still better then gaining anything.

:dust:

Leap 01-10-2011 08:05 PM

Weighed in this morning, lost more than I had expected at my 2nd week. I think I'll be ok this time. I put into my calendar what I should be at each week if I lose 1.5lb from now until my sister's wedding in September. It really helped me put in perspective how I just need to stay on track.

And, picked up the bridesmaid dress today, and it's a little too big!

bigmamatexas 01-10-2011 09:25 PM

Hi everyone, its cold here in east texas and snow is still on the ground. And for some reason ive gain 6 lbs in 1 week. i'm holding alot fluid. I've only ate about 580 calories today so far. now I got to lose at least 10 lbs to reach my goal for valentine's day.:(:dunno: whats wrong.Good Luck on our challenge everyone:wave:

jigglefree 01-11-2011 08:55 AM

Good Morning!!
It's cold in Atlanta!! Snow, ice and bad road conditions has the city and surrounding cities shut down. Normally when it snows it's warm the next day and we are out and about. Not so this go around. I'm looking out of my window and people are out and about...on foot. They are having a hard time walking so I can only imagine how it is driving.

Well yesterday I stayed within my calorie range and got my workout done but my calories were mostly junk food. NOT GOOD because I was uber cranky. So today I will be on task with my nutrients!! Today will be a real snow day for me and my daughter, television and napping.

Jiggle-We live west of ATL and pretty much the same view looking out my window:dizzy: We can't get out of our drive and haven't even bothered trying. Did you hear that its not suppose to the warm enough to melt the snow until Friday? OH MY GOSH:o:o:o Glad i went out and bough enough food to last till then...good grief!

Lori-Think of you

Rainbow-maybe we could put our strengths together, my workout and your eating....LOL. I've got to find some balance with my eating, it gets the better of me...im SUCH a food addict:rolleyes:

moonkissed-Hang in there, your see some progress soon!

Bigmama-sounds like your holding onto a lot of fluid! Guzzle water and im sure you will be fine!!!

fruit lady-hope your feeling better today!

Leap-awesome job on the weightloss!

Hello to anyone i missed. Its another snow day for me. Today will be a rest day on my workouts so i have to really watch what goes in my mouth, lol. I'm almost at the point to where im sick of being chubby, mentally and physically. Im reaching my breaking point of this little mind game with food. Thats usually when i start kicking @ss;) (my own ***,lol) and really staying focused!

megems 01-11-2011 10:55 AM

Morning all! Crazy snow here (Ohio), and will problem take a day off work. I had a dentist appointment this morning - so I don't feel the need to drive 2 hours to work, work 4, and drive 3 back (cause it just keeps getting worse). My normal drive time to work is 40 minutes!!

Anyhow - Had weigh in this morning, and lost 3 pounds!! :carrot: So, 11 more to go by Valentine's day! Man I wish I could lose 3 pounds a week constantely, from here on out it will probably be about 1 a week!

Stayed on track with diet & exercise yesterday, and so far today! Did an hour of strength training yesterday morning, spin class last night, and an hour of cardio this morning.

For all you snow people out there, getting this storm, please be careful if you need to venture out!

natamars 01-11-2011 12:22 PM

Monday: Calories, 1170. Exercise: 40 minutes on the elliptical(247 cal burned) and anbout 15 minutes of upper body weight machines.

Planning on higher calories today. Will probably have to do a workout DVD tonight and possibly tomorrow since that snow's a-coming to NY!

megems, AWESOME job on the 3 lbs!

misspriss, sounds like you have a plan! I'm worrried about being stuck in the house with the snow tomorrow, so I'm planning to make some batches of oatmeal and spinach/egg cups, and to eat a few hundred calories at a time several times over the day.

jigglefree, great that you stayed within your range and got your workout in!

bigmama, didn't you just travel? That can cause fluid retention. It will be gone in no time.

Leap, I do the same thing with recording what I need to lose each week to get to goal by a certain date. I think it's a great motivator.

moon, great attitude. Sending you whoosh! vibes for next weigh-in.

rainbow, how was Zumba?

I think I am going to put my scale away and only weigh in on Fridays - it's driving me crazy again...

fruitlady 01-11-2011 02:42 PM

The snow is coming to Pa. too, 4-8in. Gotta get to the store today no matter how I'm feeling, I think it's the flu, just won't go away. Finally had an appetite this morning, ate breakfast then felt nausea again. Rode the exercise bike anyway for 30min. Losing weight again, don't know why I gained to begin with, that was a mystery. I had 3 servings of p.b w/ breakfast so that put my calories up, no lunch for me today though. I'll end up with 1730 w/ dinner if I can eat it.

NorthernExposure 01-11-2011 03:17 PM

Jiggle: Yes, I was super excited when I got the TSP's, especially when I tried them on right away, not expecting them to fit, and they did!

Jiggle and Priss: just out of curiousity, how much snow did you get out there? Being a northerner, I will admit I might laugh...but I do have to keep in mind that you guys just aren't as prepared for snow as we are up here ;)

Rainbow: I know what you mean about wishing you liked to work out more. Usually I enjoy my workouts (as opposed to merely *tolerating* them like I did when I first started), but yesterday was tough for some reason. I slogged through it, but just wanted it to be over! Hope today goes better.

Meg: congrats on the 3 lbs, that's awesome!!

Nat: I'm all about the Friday weigh ins. Sometimes I sneak a peek earlier in the week, but I try not to. It drives me nuts too.

Lori: nice of you to pop in and see us given all you're going through :(

Everyone else I missed: hope you're all staying OP and having a good week so far!

As for me: As I mentioned above, getting through my workout yesterday was tough for some reason. I also struggled to stay in my calorie range. I ended a little high at about 1620 (I try to stay between 1400-1600.) I think it might be the midwinter blahs. Let's hear it for hibernating bears--they have it all figured out this time of year! I suppose it also doesn't help that we just bought a new tv/blu-ray/surround sound system. All I want to do is be a couch potato!

Well, I WILL work out again tonight despite wanting to be lazy and I need to throw the "cut off" switch before I get to 1600 calories!

rainbowstripe 01-11-2011 03:32 PM

misspriss Would be amazing, I just can't imagine really enjoying working out and doing it so frequently! Even when I'm on a roll, I still do the bare minimum a lot of the time. I feel the same as well, about the sick of being chubby thing, I feel like...I'd like to be looked at as a "normal" young adult rather than people thinking of me as a chubby cute girl or whatever...I feel like I get treated differently sometimes because of it.

natamars Zumba was really good but really hard after the 2 week break! I hope you find some balance with the scales (sorry for the pun haha).

Northern I think I got to a point where I kind of enjoyed my running sometimes...but once you stop it is so hard to get back into anything. I'm trying to work back up to a point like that. Funny you mention hibernating bears, even though it's summer here right now, I was feeling down the other day and told my boyfriend I'd like to be a red panda cub and go into hibernation - I actually have no idea if red pandas hibernate, but they're cute. Hope you get your workout in!

~Going to exercise soon, have a new dvd I got as a joke present from my parents - kittycat Dolls workout dvd - so I'll give that a go and see what it's like.

FatPantsSkinnyJeans 01-11-2011 05:59 PM

Hey all,

Had a bad day today. My morning involved a major 1260 calorie binge, so there's no fixing my calories for the day now.

Just have to accept it, learn from it, and move on. Tomorrow is a new day.

Planning to weigh in the morning, will report back with results.

Hope you're all doing well!

P.S.
I am all set with this snow... is it Spring yet?!

bigmamatexas 01-11-2011 07:39 PM

Hi everyone! Well we got about 5 inches of snow 3 days ago and well some is melted but its still on the ground and tonight suppose to be down to 17. No water arobics again today because the heater was still broke. They was hoping to have it fix by this afternoon so hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get in the pool. Going to work out in my home gym for 30 minutes. Went over calories a little but not bad 1277 and my limit is 1200. I weigh again today after resting my legs and I was 255 today. Not sure why im holding so much fluid unless im sitting at the computer too much being cooped up in the house the last 4 days. Ok got company now, so everyone stay safe and warm through these very cold days.:dust::tread:

amandalynn636 01-11-2011 10:31 PM

Hello all. I would like to join in on your challenge. I need a good kick in the tushy.

Megems~ why don't you try this skinny white chocolate mocha creamer from Krogers. It was also nice that the hostess at your party made such wonderful low cal food. She sounds like a doll!

jdonato 01-12-2011 08:41 AM

Good Morning ladies,

Things have been crazy busy at work so I've been working late and not had alot of free time to post. I'll give a quick update and then get back on later to get to all of you :) so far I'm sticking to my calorie limit, i've been trying to get to the gym as often as I can. It's going to be a very slow process but i'm excited and happy because i'm making the necessary changes. I went grocery shopping and stocked up on healthy snacks for the office. I keep my drawer packed...lol everyone laughs but i don't care.

Relationship things are going great with the bf. Misspriss...not with the other guy I will discuss that later. so my bf and I now have been together for 4.5 months and I've never been happier. He joined the gym and is quitting smoking. So if anyone had dated or married a smoker and they tried to quit...please give me all the advice you have so I can help him. I want to be supportive and understanding.

I'm working through alot of insecurities one day at a time and I'm very happy with my life. I know it will be better. Alright, Have to get back to work, i will try and get on later to talk to you all. Have a great day!

<3 Jacky

NorthernExposure 01-12-2011 09:45 AM

Good morning:

So I did OK with my exercise yesterday (elliptical, weights and a little bit of snow shoveling), but still went over the top end of my calorie range by about 50 calories. I'm having issues with nighttime snacking lately. I know it could be worse, but I have a feeling it will be a slow week on the scale this week, especially with my less-than-stellar girls' weekend this past weekend.

I'm excited I get to stay home from work tomorrow. I have to do an online training for state testing (yippie skippy), but I asked my boss if I could just do it from home, since there's no way I can be in my office and expect not to be interrupted all day. We're supposed to get more snow, so I will be glad to take a day off from the crappy roads around here.

Well, I better get back to work. Have a good day, everyone!

megems 01-12-2011 09:49 AM

amandalynn - I will have to try that. And, I don't know if she would be considered a doll...:D I kid. So glad you signed up!!! This place is great for ideas/support/recipes etc.

I played hooky from work yesterday, but did get in an hour of cardio, and actually ate about 1520 calories of my 1600. I wanted to stay below my 1600 goal a bit because even though I worked out, I was pretty lazy the rest of the day (curled up on my couch, pj's on, and read a book!), so didn't want to tempt fate!

I am doing pretty good with getting water in me, after coffee in the morning I drink nothing but water; however, I LOVE tea, and make this Raspberry Iced Tea (Instant), and discovered last night that 8 oz = 80 calories!!!! WOW! I could drink 2-3 - 12 oz glasses a night on these! I need to somehow work on my calories that I drink!!!

natamars 01-12-2011 11:49 AM

Tuesday: Calories, 1580. Exercise: Jillian 30DS video

DH had band practice last night(he's 50 - I call it his old man band) so I couldn't get to the gym, but I changed into my workout clothes as soon as I got home from work and did the video. Amazing how tough 20 minutes can be! I do hour-long classes at the gym all the time, but last night was a challenge.

It is STILL snowing here on Long Island - I think we've got about 15" already and it's still coming down. My office has a delayed opening, but luckily I can work from home. DH has agreed not to try to shovel and go to work, so his friend will come plow us out whenever he can get here. I'm going to use the time to make a big batch of oatmeal bake, and DH is going to make jambalaya. Hopefully by tonight I'll be able to get out to the gym.

megems, sounds like you had a great day yesterday! good thing you realized that on the tea, amazing how many calories we can drink without realizing it, and we don't adjust the calories on our food down.

Northern, I went over yesterday too! And I really didn't need the glass of wine, or the 60 calories worth of dark chocolate(although it was FABULOUS). I blame all this snow.

jdonato, my dh has quit smoking many times. when I first met him, he smoked like a chimney, and I HATE the smell, so he quit cold turkey. He's gone back deveral times over the years - never to the level he smoked before. Most recently he would have 4-5/day. The electronic cigarettes really helped him, and he's been smoke-free for several months now. Hoping it sticks! It wreaks havoc with insurance rates, too.

amandalynn, welcome! checking in every day has helped me tremendously. Today is my 12th day back on plan.

bigmama, hope it warms up there soon!

fpsj, hope today is going better for you. we've all had days like that - good for you jumping right back on the wagon.

rainbow, how was the dvd? sounds hilarious!

farn00a57 01-12-2011 12:02 PM

Hey everyone! I'm not sure if anybody will remember me because I've been gone for like half a year but I'M BACK!! I've had a pretty rough last few months where I unfortunately put my weightloss on the back burner.... :( I would love to jump back in and get back to my old successful ways!! I've missed all you guys!

Jumping in late for this challenge I just want to focus on hitting my 1500 calories a day, getting my water intake in, and exercising. I would like to lose 10 lbs.
SW: 252

NorthernExposure 01-12-2011 12:27 PM

Of course we remember you, Farn! Welcome back!

Nat: I TOTALLY blame the winter! I seriously think we humans (especially those of us who live up north) have some kind of deep-seeded biological instinct to consume extra calories and expend as little energy as possible during the long, dark winter. Animals do it! But really...it is MUCH easier to eat lighter and stay active when it's nice out. Is it spring yet??

fruitlady 01-12-2011 02:32 PM

Northern- I think your right about us folks up north, all you want to do is eat & lay around all winter! Can't wait til spring!

Farn- Welcome Back!!

My weight is staying down, but that's because I've been sick. Still riding the the exercise bike every morning for 30min. after breakfast to pump up the metabolism. I'll end up at 1100 cal. cause my stomach is still not feeling normal. We got 5 in. of snow here, it looks so pretty outside. But I can't wait til spring, I'm ready to get outside to exercise!

jigglefree 01-12-2011 02:52 PM

Hello Everyone.
Still hunkered down but showing signs of movement. The roads are icy so I'm staying in the hosue. We did go out yesterday to get some groceries and to just get out before I went bananas. My husband wanted junk food and it got the better of me. But I'm back on plan today and thank God I have my treadmill or what a mess I would be. However I did drink 128 ounces of water everyday this week so far. Anywho...I'm ready to go back to work now.

Fruitlady - Hope you are feeling better soon.
Northern - You are hilarious. You make me feel better though because being stuck in teh hosue with my husband and daughter, I've been snacking to keep from loosing my mind. I just got out of control yesterday. I haven't found the picture of you in the TSPs but I'll keep looking. I just know how fun they were.
Farn - Of course we remember you!! What's up girlie. WELCOME BACK. Hope things are getting better for you!
Natamars - 15" really. They wouldn't know what to do with 15" here. I think the News Anchors were sleeping at the station with the little snow we got. LOL!! If only they understood pretreating.
MissPriss - We got about 4" of snow on Sunday night Monday morning and about an inch of ice on top of that Monday afternoon. So it turned into a ice skating rink for cars. This morning the folks that ventured out must have been to excited to get out because there were accidents everywhere. Gotta watch out for that ice.

I just found out we are off again tomorrow. WTH???

susieyarb 01-12-2011 03:40 PM

Northern! I'm so glad to hear that you're already finished with the TSP's! I was soooo excited to get into them but even more excited to pass them along! I can't wait to see who gets them next! I'll have to go back and see the pics!

Jiggle: from the looks of the news, you got your day off! Atlanta looked like a winter wonderland!!

susieyarb 01-12-2011 03:41 PM

Lori: I was sad to hear about your niece's passing. I will keep your family in my prayers!

susieyarb 01-12-2011 03:46 PM

Farn: I've been MIA with you! I've not totally derailed but I must get back on the track and haven't quite caught the train agan yet! But here I am at the station!

I don't know why I can't wrap my head around it again! I've gained back 11 pounds-ugh! I'm still fitting in my clothes (10's and 12's) but they're snug.

FatPantsSkinnyJeans 01-12-2011 03:56 PM

Today's weight: 126.8 BOoooooooo. That's what I get for giving in to temptation.

Oh well, off to the gym.

Will try and do personals when I get back! Thank you for the supportive words. :)

julesp313 01-12-2011 03:59 PM

Sadly no time to read (my work busy season is insane). Trying to figure out the calories in take-out sushi is challenging! Other than this sushi derail, I'm doing well, staying on plan and working out daily. It's the only way to get through 12 hour days for the next three months... :)

julesp313 - I too am a sushi lover, and found that the average sushi piece (not whole roll) is around 40 - 50 calories, depending on what is in it. The high calories for something so small comes mostly from the rice. Well worth it IMO :D I love sushi! It's a treat for me, cause I can gorge myself on it!

julesp313 01-12-2011 04:24 PM

Megems - yeah, I have no control. But this was take-out so I had to think about what I wanted. I got edamame, a rainbow roll and a special house roll. I avoid tempura items and try not to get rolls with mayo. I'll figure 50 per piece as a ballpark - it's a guideline I've heard a few times so I guess it's pretty universal!

misspriss78 01-12-2011 05:14 PM

5 FREAKING DAYS NOW....yep,5 days the kids have been home and guess what, tomorrow is another one. We haven't been anywhere because of the stupid snow:mad::mad::mad: Im going nutz guys:dizzy::dizzy::dizzy: i love my kids but when there home, arguing all day and complaining/whining...Mommy is ready to blow:o

ok, now that i have that out of my system;)

Diet is crap - nothing crazy - just not great. My calories are basicly at maintenance right now, but my workouts are good. Today was a 35min run interval follwed by 30 mins of lower body weights. Burned 650 calories.. I SOOOOOO needed that workout today...

Have a safe night!:)
