Hi Everyone, glad to be here for this challenge, I shocked myself with the 4th of July challenge and my husband too. hehehe It seemed today all I did was eat (I might need to write down the times that I'm eating to make sure I'm giving myself a break) or does that matter, no bad food choices though. I've been really good this time around about eating things that have been bought just for me. I haven't added up my calories today yet but I usually don't go over. I walked 3 1/2 miles so I'm building my way up to my 5 miles a day (my new goal). I read on the recommendation of another member the schedule for the Couch to 5K so I'd like to start (try) that soon. So let's do this, YAY US.
Jiggle, Love the cheers you do :D

Got back from my run. I only have two types of exercise: wonderful... and horrible. Today was more of the horrible. It was HOT... dark, I kept tripping over sticks on the path (I don't have a track, all my running is cross-country), and the dogs kept getting in my way. :p (they did eventually learn that it hurt them too. ;) )

But... I got it done (now I need to go do my 20+ minutes of yoga for the day). C25K W3D3... I'm going to do one or two more days of Week 3 (depends)... and then aim for week 4. I heard that was the hardest.

love2b150... that's awesome about the July 4th goal!! :D And... C25K can be hard some days... but it's also nice. I can run for 3+ minutes straight now... something I NEVER would have been able to do two months ago (when I started this all... :D ).

kaelah 07-05-2010 11:12 PM

Way to go, everyone! :) Keep workin' hard.

I went for my first day of C25K today and whew, it really wore me down. My knees hurt, my hips hurt, I battled a calf cramp... not fun!! It was rough, but I made it through and I'll be back out there on Wednesday. Because even though it SUCKED two hours ago when I was doing it, I survived and I'm feeling great and accomplished now.

YAY!

LOL, I just realized what C25K meant, duh! I have never been able to run even as a child my side would always hurt, so this will be a definite challenge to do it in my 40's.

YAY for YOU Kaelah!

I missed the end of the July 4th challenge but I was on a cruise ship and couldn't bring myself to pay the exorbitant Internet rates on the ship! Anyway - I got on the scale this morning and to no great surprise was up a couple of pounds. I didn't eat everything in sight on the cruise but I sure didn't count calories - I enjoyed myself! I was pretty active - worked out a few times, took the stairs 90% of the time - but it just wasn't enough to offset the food intake. I did have an insanely good time, though, and finally got to do a zip line - me and my husband and our friends that we went with have been trying to do a zip line for years! This one was amazing - it was in the tree canopy in Puerto Vallarta, and we did nine zip lines, a Tarzan swing (where I screamed like a girl!) and two 60 foot rappels. It was so cool!

Back to reality... my goals for Labor Day are to drop 10lbs, work out at least four times a week, every week, and track everything I eat whether I want to or not!

westernsoutherngirl 07-06-2010 12:15 AM

Got a little help with one of my goals today - weighing in only once a week instead of multiple times a day - well my scale died this morning so no weigh in for me! Must have been the scale fairies helping me out! So I ordered a new one from Amazon and that will take a few days to get here! Perfect!

i just want to wish everyone alot of lucck and :hugs: :D:carrot:

Good morning, everyone! This is my first challenge on 3FC. I'm so excited! I need something to get me back on track after all of the World Cup + 4th of July madness. I mean, the madness was awesome and fun, but it's time to get back to work.

My goals are (DUN DUN DUN):

1. Onederland.
2. Journal everything. No taking off on splurge days because "Oh, I know it's a party and I ate a lot and I'll gain a pound anyway so I can be lazy about counting." NO NO NO. I can splurge, but I need to OWN IT.
3. Walk 30 minutes four days a week.

I'm also trying to remember that it doesn't matter if I hit goal in 2010, 2011, or even 2012. As long as I consistently make smart choices, I'll get there eventually. I gotta keep reminding myself that it's better to lose half a pound a week and keep it off, than 3 lbs a week, only to gain it all back again. I've been there, and I don't want to live that again.

Good luck, everyone! This is such a great idea!

Hey ladies. I'm feeling distinctly unmotivated, haha. I worked 8 hours on Sunday and went back to do half of the overnight shift as well (3am-8am) and then went back again from 2:30pm-10pm. I have a staff meeting this morning and am then doing an evening/overnight from 4pm-4am. At least I got some good sleep last night!

I haven't cc'd the past two days because of my wacky schedule- and I mostly snacked on carbs. I don't think I went too far over my limit, but I did have cake on the overnight and last night- I needed the quick sugary energy, haha. I also didn't have much of an appetite because of the heat, yet I found room to have a slice of pizza after I came home last night...yikes.

You know what's great though? I'm not down on myself about it- I know that now I have to get back on the horse and am not beating myself up about it. As this journey has progressed I've become much more relaxed with myself. I think I'll hop on the treadmill after my meeting and do some resistance band work.

Another great thing...though I didn't formally exercise yesterday, I was doing a lot of my moves at work- much to the amusement of the ladies in the house. I even had one trying to mimic me! :D

Welcome to all the new challenge comers!

Western- It's hard to stay away from the temptation of the scale! Mine is under my bed mocking me, but I've been doing well with the once a week weigh in. It is much more satisfying to see the progress in a week's time- and once you weigh consistently in the same conditions, the scale will be more honest with you.

Jules- I'm glad you had a great time! Sounds really fun. I've never really been one for the idea of a cruise, but it seems like something everyone should try once. Sounds like there were some great activities!

Kaelah- That's fantastic! Congrats!

Serb- You've made great progress! Even on the horrible days, at least you can say you did it!

Love2b- Glad you're back and that you got great results! 3.5 miles is excellent- you'll be at 5 before you know it!

Jiggle- Housework is definitely legitimate exercise! It's excellent that you're feeling so confident- you go girl!

dcapulet- That's the attitude to have! I always find myself dreading exercise until I'm about half way through it and I start feeling fantastic. Then I wonder why I dreaded it in the first place, haha.

Audrina- Sorry to hear that hun! Hopefully things will sort themselves out- you'll be okay!

Lori- Your posts are always good!!

Alrighty, off I go...

Indiabound 07-06-2010 09:14 AM

My goal is to be down 15lbs! That will put me at 184.5lbs :carrot:

misspriss78 07-06-2010 10:34 AM

Lets keep going...

Good Morning Chicks

Wow, this thread is booming...already on the second page! Im going to try and reply to everyone but i may miss a few:dizzy:

Yesterday i walked the dog for thirty minutes. Today i plan on doing some chest/shoulders/biceps in the morning then another walk this evening!

Indiabound-Hey, I think im following you on your blog? right? Good luck to you!

CorinneIrene- Good for you! Im that approach too (not beating myself up if im not perfect) it really does make a difference on how i feel.

theresac-Looks like you have a nice plan ahead of you! Good luck!

Loveit-Good luck to you too!

westernsoutherngirl- bummer on the scale dieing. I too use to weigh every day but i told my husband to hide it and i haven't weighed in about 7days now...its amazing how relaxed i feel because of it. I plan on weighing every other week.

julesp313-Glad to hear you had a blast on your cruise! Im sure those lbs will be off in no time! Probably water weight any way...

kaelah- high fives on your C25K workout!

Serbrider-Awesome job on your workout too!

love2b150-Nice job on your walking...

jigglefree- Im with ya! we can do this!! Have a good time with your visit from your nephews!

dcapulet- I know what you mean, there are days i have to make myself get dressed and start my workout...but its so rewarding afterwords!

audrina- I hope everything is ok!

Lori-Im with ya on being done with bills for the month, yay!:carrot:

ok...sorry if i missed anyone!

I've got some WONDERFUL news and i hope it really happens. My mom is thinking about moving about ten minutes from me:D:D:D She lives about an hour and 1/2 away right now and its just too far for me to drive in my older cars(don't trust them that far) so she is talking about moving right down the road. She goes to the gym everyday and i would FINALLY have a workout partner...yay! So exciting. Just keep your fingers crossed that it actually happens!

Indiabound 07-06-2010 12:27 PM

@ Misspriss- haha yes you are! my first, (and so far only) subscriber :D

KDM322 07-06-2010 12:40 PM

Those of you doing (or thinking of doing) C25K...IT IS AWESOME!! AND IT WORKS!!! :) I completed the program earlier in the year and never in a million years did I think I could run for 30minn straight...WELL I DID!! It wasn't a fast run, but it wasn't a walk either...I think it was right around 5mph on the TM...it doesn't equal 5k(or 3miles), but the point is I was running for 30min straight!!! LoL...I've only ran outside once, but did 2miles with a short walk(about 3min) in between the miles..it was waaay harder outside...So GOOD LUCK to you guys...if you stick w/it, it will work...I thought I was gonna die some weeks, but just push through it & it'll work...I've heard some ppl talk about how you can psych yourself out while running...that it's a mental thing...well I think I agree! so have faith in yourself, and your body will follow!!! :) GOOD LUCK!!!

jules--glad you had fun on your cruise!! zip lining sounds SOOO FUN! Good Luck gettin back OP (I had some difficulty after returning from the beach)

western--sorry to hear about the scale...I need to start weighing ONCE a week also, but I'm too addicted! haha I weigh EVERY morning when I get up...

theresac--GOOD THEORY!! I'm a firm believer in that also...as long as we're learning heathier habits along the way, it doesn't matter how long it takes us!!! yes, it's hard (VERY HARD) hearing about those who lose so fast or a large amount in a year, but we're all different! Up until the beginning of June, i was losing 1lb/week on average, & it's frustrating from week to week, but when I look back over the first half of the year, it equals out to be ALOT! haha SO, GOOD LUCK GIRL! Dont get discouraged!!!

corinne--That sucks about ur work schedule! GOOD LUCK getting it straighted out and back OP! YOU CAN DO IT!

Amelia--I'll be praying that your momma moves so close!! I WOULD LOVE THAT!! I'm 8.5hrs away from mine :(

AS FOR ME...I got my 1st exercise session in last night! I did 2.8miles (45min) on the TM...first 25min was an inclined walk 3.4mph and then I started running...was only going to do 5min at first, but when I started, I wanted to see if I could still run a MILE without stopping...WELL I DID IT! 1mile at 5mph! I ran for 12min straight and haven't even attempted that since I completed C25K some time in April...it felt great!!! I want to continue this for the challenge.........ok, ok, enough from me...sorry :)

jdonato 07-06-2010 12:55 PM

Ahhh time for a new challenge! :D Ok so for this one:
1. lose 4lbs to get back into my weight range
2. stay within my weight range
3. Workout 6 days a week...we are trying to P90x the full thing!
4. Keep up with CC EVERYDAY!
5. Find a job
6. look rockin in my bikini
7. full goal is to lose 6lbs 1.5 inches in my waist and 2 inches in my hips

I'm sure I'll have more but that should be good for now. I wish all of you good luck for the challenge!

m3rma1d 07-06-2010 01:21 PM

Ugh.... I've been slacking lately a bit, but still losing. Well, I think it caught up to me. But I'm back on track today, because the slight gain has scared me back to reality.

Also, last night I did something really bad, and then did something even worse to try and "correct" it.... I can't even believe I did it. Talked to my therapist about it today and I'm gonna let it go and never do it again (hopefully)

MAN it's hot outside, the thought of walking my 3.5 miles is NOT appealing.... But my walking buddy is gone for the day tho, and said we can walk this evening, so hopefully it'll have cooled off some by then. (Sorta sucks tho, I prefer getting it done as early in the day as possible so it's DONE and OVER with.... But oh well, I gotta do it tonite no matter what!)
