I am going to start today, I am getting married next October and I want to be slimmer for my dress.

My current weight is 170 and I would love to be 160...possibly even 155 by Sept. 6th. Here goes nothing :)

I'm in again! These challenges help me maintain or lose, whichever is needed at the time. lol My goal is to have no more than 1400 cal. a day, get to 105lbs. and maintain it. Last night was an eating disaster, it's so hot here, the temp is 98 with a heat index of 105 degrees. I had to eat something cold because I was feeling nausea, so of course it had to be ice cream and peanut butter, my favorite. I ate way too much ,it was so good I couldn't stop. At least I felt better! Today I had 1360 cal. so I'm good. So now I have 2.9 lbs to lose!

Good to see everyone back,
Lori- you just look so good, you must be so proud of yourself! And yes I did claim my goal met for July 4th, but it didn't last for long. lol

Hi everyone. Sorry its hard to check in because we are still on vacation in Florida. I will be returning to Arizona tomorrow afternoon. Then it will be buckle down time for 2 days of studying before my big state certification test on Saturday. Diet has been great! Exercise has been easy. I'm looking forward to a good weigh in next weekend and I am also looking forward to purchasing my Go Wear Fit. Woohoo!

Ugh, my last day "off" before I head back to work. I say "off" because I went to the dentist this morning - found out I need a couple of old fillings replacing, which sucks, and worse, I need a crown replacing. The reason that's worse is I have pretty bad TMJ disorder and the only way a dentist can work on my molars is if I'm sedated - I'm all about sedation dentistry, but insurance doesn't cover the sedation, so I'll be out of pocket for that. But with sedation, they can do all the work at once and I'm completely unaware of what's going on - my kind of appointment! Then DH and I went to our first full physical - I've been nagging him to go for years, literally, so I finally made us both appointments with a company called LifeSigns, which does a full screening work-up and it's covered by our insurance as our "annual check-up" so it was $15 co-pay each. We had blood work for various things (cholesterol, blood sugar, etc), an EKG, hearing and vision tests, breathing test (for lung function), an ultrasound of the thyroid, kidneys, gall bladder, and liver, plus the major arteries, DH had a treadmill stress test (as he's over 40) and I got my annual girlie check up. The doctor confirmed that I am obese on the BMI scale (BMI was 31.3) and my body fat is higher than he would like, at 39.9%, but I have no indicators of obesity-related diseases, which is good. He said I'm doing the right things - working out regulary and watching my calories - but my body may be one of those that is particularly resistant to doing the right thing and I have to be on track 100% of the time. He told me to add a multi vitamin - I was taking one but getting nauseous so he told me to take a kid's chewable one - and fish oil capsules. He also said he's read a number of studies that suggest chromium picolinate is useful in maintaining metabolic function - he wouldn't say it helps weight loss but he said it's worth trying. So I picked up a bottle and will give it a shot. Anything that may help and won't hurt, I'm willing to try. DH is now bbq-ing 12 chicken breasts so we have our protein for the week - and I bought a ton of fruit and veggies yesterday so we're on a bit of a detox this week, after last week's over indulging!

Oh, and I dropped 3lbs between yesterday and today, which was clearly water weight, so that's a good start to the week!

I hope it's not too late to jump in! September 6th is exactly three months from today- so I figure, why not?!

I am right around 145 now (official weigh-ins are on Fridays for me) And my goal is to be 130 by labor day.

I will be out of town for 2 weeks in July though- will it be a problem if I do not check in on a daily basis?

~Dagny

Good Morning All,
Just finished 30DS level2...still hate it!!! It's the hardest one to do but I get a great workout. I'm gonna workout at lunch again today. Gotta get it in because my schedule won't allow for it again for a couple of weeks.

Love2be150 - I don't eat back my workout calories. I use the loseit app and it suggested I do 1483 cals a day. I don't add my workout because it will suggest that I eat the cals back. I just prefer to maintain a larger deficit. I think once you get to maintenance and locate your calorie intake to maintain your weight then you won't have to worry about regain.
Kaelah - How did the workout go yesterday? Did you get to go outside?
David - No matter what is going on in your world, make sure you stay on plan and take care of yourself.
WVU - That is a very obtainable goal. Stick around and we'll keep you motivated.
Shan - Sounds like you are having a great time. I think it's great that it's not a struggle to stay on plan. YAY!!! Hoping it goes that well for me next week.
Jules - Great checkup. On the vitamins, try taking them before bed. That's when I take mine because they make me feel icky if I take them in the morning. Three pounds is three pounds!!

Sorry if I didn't get everyone...you all are busy. I gotta get ready for work and get the baby girl ready for daycare. Have a great day!! I'll check in after my lunch time workout to add my smiley for my mile run.

Well..Labor Day is 2 months away....I set my mini-goal at 5 lbs. I am 150 now and seeing 145 on that scale would be mighty nice:)

Vladadog 07-07-2010 07:56 AM

I've been three days in row at 226.6 - only 11 pounds to go till I'm obese but the scale just won't budge. It's been hot here (high 90's is rare in VT and three days in a row is even rarer) and I've been drinking water by the gallons. But I've also been craving salt, not chips or popcorn or other typically salty things but just salt. I'd lick my own skin to get salt right now (just my own skin, thank you, nothing weird or kinky!). I'm guessing it has something to do with the heat because it's sure not my regular sort of craving.

Anyway, I'm trying to respect that my body might actually need some extra salt right now without over-doing it. And I'm taking one of the dogs to go play in the river later today so that should help with the hot hot hot.

Hope everyone else is making better progress on the challenge!

m3rma1d 07-07-2010 11:26 AM

Didn't end up walking last nite, my buddy who takes me wasn't feeling well (I think because of the heat)

But I did REALLY well with my eating yesterday so I feel ok about it.

AND it was so hot here that on the local evening news they were actually down at THE trail we walk on, interviewing people that were crazy enough to be walking it in the heat--So that made me feel better about not going too hahahaha!

Oh, and here's some REALLY GROSS news!
The nite before last, I went swimming with some friends...
Yesterday news broke that the very beach we went to the nite before got closed down due to HIGH LEVELS OF E. COLI!! (Where's the puking smiley?? Insert it here!!!)
I read up on it, and it can take 7 days for any symptoms to start. But now every little feeling I get in my tummy is making me freak out! :p

Hi Jiggle, thanks how do I get to the lose it application? I am terrified of regain.

Hi Vladadog, which BMI counter do you use that says obese, etc. I had found one now I can't locate it. I know mine is still in the obese range but I would love to know how many lbs before I'll be out and just over weight. Thanks ... oh and I'm stuck also day 4 now same weight.

M3rma1d, that's what happens to me, lol, once I hear about something it affects me the same way, I know it's all in my mind. Hope you stay well and don't get sick. I wonder if you can like keep drinking water, and clear juices to flush your system to keep the bacteria from settling. Our youngest daughter had ecol i bacteria in her urine last year, she had to be hospitalized, not that you want to hear that but she was only 5. She also had a urinary tract infection and was severely dehydrated. We don't know what brought it on I guess one thing led to another. Doctor said that it could have easily started from her not wiping incorrectly. Well again I hope you stay well, take care.

Oh my goodness, the conversation's moving so fast! I'm just gonna start on the last page.

Vladadog, I get salt cravings too (I live in the tropics and sweat a lot). I usually satisfy them with some salty-but-nutrient-filled homemade soup (egg drop, chicken noodle, whatever). Then, I make sure I drink a couple of liters of water RIGHT after I finish the soup. Sometimes it takes a couple of days, but it really helps get my body back in equilibrium.

m3rma1d, that's so gross! Most strains of e.coli aren't actually the end of the world, but still, I'd hate to know I went swimming in a vat of it. Blech. love2b150's right about drinking lots of water and flushing your system out (I say this as someone who gets food poisoning on a fairly regular basis).

love2b150, the loseit app is an iPhone app, I think. I also don't count any workout calories, although I do try to exercise extra hard when I know I'm going to be eating a lot for a party.

I'm doing well. I had an extended weekend, and just got back to work today, which was WONDERFUL. I got up early to go for a walk this morning, only to find out that it was pouring rain. Boo! I'll see if my husband wants to walk with me this evening after dinner. :-D

Goals:
1. Onederland (on track! yeah!)
2. Track everything (on track! yeah!)
3. Walk 4 times a week (it's the rainy season! ggaaarrr!)

jigglefree 07-07-2010 02:31 PM

I just finished my workout and lunch. I did another 2 miles on the treadmill and got my 1 mile run done. I'm really feeling good about my workouts.

Love2b150 - Go to the iTunes store and click on app store. Type in loseit and it should come up. It's a free app.
Charm - :welcome3: Post and visit often. This is a great group and you will get motivated.
M3 - I hope you don't have anything. Just relax and listen to your body...it will tell you if there's really a problem.

:running: for each mile I run
:running::running::running:

love2b150 07-07-2010 02:43 PM

Jiggle you go Girl! :woohoo:

I don't have an iphone but I'll look at itunes. Thanks Ladies
