I am 5'5 and 180 pounds, and wear a size 18/20 bottoms and an XL top. Im also wondering when I will get into smaller sizes, but I have a lot of fat around the middle and large breasts.
I'm currently about 165.4 lbs. and I am a runner so my legs are a bit of a thicker build. But my chest and stomach have been dropping weight like crazy. I currently wear a size 14 in junior jeans, a 10 in petite woman's jeans and typically a large in shirts.
Please don't cry! I really think that height, age, body shape have alot to do with clothing size. Also, I think there are people out there (not necessarily on this thread) that wear clothes that are really too small for them. I used to do that when I was younger, but now it is just too uncomfortable!
As of last weekend, I'm now comfortably in a size 20 pants and just got into 16/18 t-shirts. Have quite a bit more of tummy, hip and butt blob to work off before I'll see 18's on the bottom.
Have absolutely no idea what size pants I started in back in February because I would just hide in what fit the best and was the most comfy....elastic waist lounge pants. Tons of them.
I have not seen the scale over 300 yet but I fit in 24s up to 26s depending on the brand/fit and that is at the higher end of the 290s. I know from the past i didn't drop to 20 until about 220s. I was down to 240 late last year(from stress and chaos of a very emotional time, so not a healthy way) and was able to get in an Old Navy 18 for the first time. So that was weird but yeah I don't seem to drop sizes too fast either.
The women in my family do tend to carry weight more like a man and we are also tall ladies(5'8" or more except my grandma who had lost height but was 5'6" or more at least in her early years). We tend to weight more than other women larger who weigh less. Its weird but I try to get a feel on sizes more than weight because of this but it can be discouraging when they don't budge much for awhile.

That's a healthy outlook. Although the scale tends to frustrate me when it doesn't move too quickly, I have to continuously keep reminding myself that I am not doing this to lose weight, I am doing it to lose fat and build muscle, become leaner. The scale may become manic on me, but as long as the inches continue to come off, I am cool. Someone like yourself who is 5'8 may weigh more and be in a smaller size, but may have more muscle, less fat.....same goes for all of us when we compare ourselves to others who are the same height.
I hope no one takes the comparisons to heart when seeing others who are their height. A few things factor into the differences.
I am 5'2 and 283 lbs.....I wear a 24 in pants and a 3x top. Most of my weight is around my waist......(That said, I have thin ankles and fat ear lobes....how does that even happen???
im 5'4" at 135-140 pounds (it REALLY DOES vary that much on a day to do basis!) But i am also @ under 18% BF and wear a size 2-4 and smalls and Xtra smalls. Sometimes when im having a "fat" day i have to look at the tags on my clothes to remind myself that i HAVE gotten this small, even if i still dont always see it...... For perspective, i started my weightloss journey at approx 150 pounds (so only lost 10-15 lbs) but i went from a size 11-13 to a 2-4 cuz i replaced all the fat with muscle.....i can thank strength training for this......
I am 5'4-5'4.5, 202 lbs and I think I'm a size 16 jeans. I own 18s but they are really big and I can pull them off without unbuttoning them. Also I can zip and button a 15. I muffin top a bit w/ them so they won't be making a trip outdoors right now, but I could i guess. lol. I have a gut, huge hips, and a big butt. lol, NO BOOBS THO! I've started this @ a 38-40A!!!!!!! I seriously had to buy a 38A from the little girls department at JCpenny's... SO LAME!!!! I will have less than an ant hill by the time this is all said and done... LAME! It's so weird how sizes are so different w/ the same numbers!
