Well, i weighed in yesterday and it read 219 so that puts me at 50 pounds lost so far. So, what did I do to celebrate it? I ate Zaxbys chicken fingers and fries for lunch. Yeah, I am a friggin genius. <sigh> I think the only reason I still losing even though I am constantly falling off the wagon, and eating back my exercise, is that I am back to work part time, and I am still breastfeeding. I haven't accounted for the activity and extra calories burned.
I am crossing my fingers that the scale still reads 219 on Monday.
Definitely want to join. I weigh myself every monday. Last monday I was 163. I want to be 28 lbs lighter by June 21st. Do we post on our weigh in days?
I'm down to 184.8. That's 2.9 altogether. I don't know why I'm losing so slowly when my food and exercise calories are equal to losing 1.2-1.4 a week. Very disappointing, but at least I'm losing something.
Congrats Angel and Vegas on your losses. Vegas, I was born and raised in Las Vegas and most of my family is still there. For whatever reason I have been wanting to tell you that every time I see your screen name. LOL
Welcome to the challenge, km25!
So, I weighed in today and somehow managed to lose another 1.5 pounds over the weekend. It was not deserved, let me tell ya. I am stoked anyway! I know I need to get my act together big time because I won't always be rewarded for bad behavior. I workout very hard, but I go over my caloric intake way too often. I am starving in the afternoon so I binge before dinner. I also let my dh talk me into ditching my planned meals for takeout. 2 major things I need to change if I am going to succeed in the future.
So, I didn't introduce myself before, but I'd like to join you guys on this challenge!
I'm 25 and 5'5". I started counting calories April 20th, and weighed in at 166.
I lost 3 lbs the first week, so April 27th w/in was 163
Just weighed myself tonight, May 4, and I lost 5 lbs!! YAY, so now 158
My goal is to get to 130.
I forgot to add to my other post a giant congratulations, Sunkisses!! 50 lbs? You must feel incredible! I can't wait to be 50 lbs down, because then I'd just have a few left to lose.

Hello. I'm trying to lose 7 pounds by June 13, which is the start of
my vacation leave from work. 7 pounds in 5 weeks is not terribly
ambitious, but I'm going for the "permanent lifestyle" type of diet
this time rather than a "race to the finish" type of thing.
Aside from keeping calories low and other no-brainers for losing weight,
I'm avoiding sugar and reducing my "white carbs" because I find they
cause me a lot of cravings and grief. I'm trying to get more of my
carbs from beans, dairy, veg, and "slow release" starches. I know
this helps me lose weight, but now I'm trying to make it a permanent
lifestyle change.
I'm also trying to practice, practice, practice reacting to temptation
by having a few bites and stopping. This is harder for me than doing
a restrictive "cold turkey" type of diet. I'm deliberately putting myself
in situations with tons of high-calorie foods, deliberately giving myself
tastes, and then forcing myself to stop. It's hard! But I love that
I'm working on the hard part. I'm proud to see my self-control, and
I think it's really good to put my body through the new routines.
All this is what I want to do for the next 5 weeks.
I think this is called the Harrison Benedict formula? It's a way to figure out how many cals to lose weight.
655 + (4.3 x weight in lbs) + (4.7 x height in inches) + (4.7 x age)
Take that number and:
x 1.2 for a sedentary lifestyle
x 1.3 for lightly active
x 1.4 for moderately active (exercise 3 x's a week)
x 1.5 for very active (exercise most days a week or work hard labor)
This number is how many calories you need to maintain your current weight.
If you multiply this number by 7 that's the calories to maintain you would eat in a week. Subtract 3500 calories from this for every 1 lb you want to lose. Then divide this by 7. This is the number of calories you eat to lose the # of pounds you subtracted.
Well, so far this day is so freakin' great!! I reached my 15 lbs! But that's only if the scale gave me the correct number! I've been WAITING for 15 lbs lost for a long time. I hope so much that it's right. If it is, then I can't wait for 20 lbs lost so I can buy rewards for 25 and 30 (I buy in advance so I don't have to worry about the reward not being there later. Also, I just love to look at it because it makes me want it more).
That puts me at at 4.1 lb loss so far. 10.9 lbs to go. But only if the scale hasn't played a cruel trick on me. Cross your fingers! lol

This is how I'm doing it!
I just did this twice and I came up with 654 calories per day to lose 2 lbs in a week? Where did I go wrong? I am 217, 5'5 and 30 yrs old.
Nevermind, I forgot to add the 655 at the beginning.

Reason: because I am stupid
Hello ladies. Today is the day that I get my butt back into gear. Since I've slacked these last two weeks, it is going to take me to lose 2.5lbs per week to reach my goal, but oh well! I believe I can do it and I am going to put my tush into gear. I weighed 202 today, so that means I haven't really gained anything from my binge-fest that happened during these last two weeks.
DBF just went to the store and picked me up some lunch meat, fruit, and salad stuff so I can eat good for lunch this week. I made salsa chicken, rice and baked potatoes for dinner, and they smell delicious. I can't wait to eat! It's kind of high in sodium, but totally worth it.
Here's to us making our goals!!
