MissLoud~ Welcome! Turning 30 was my inspiration to take the weight off too! You can do this! 3FCs is so helpful (it was for me.) Let me just say, life gets better after 30!

dgramie~ I have heard that stress can hinder weight loss, but if your clothes are fitting better then I wouldn't worry. Besides .6 lb is something! Great job on avoiding dessert! That's hard.

Dh and I saw a great show last night. If you ever get to see the theater group Culture Clash (they are from LA), please do. They were so funny! i haven't laughed that hard in ages.

Thanks Zenor & Lottie!

I'm pleased to announce I lost 3.4 kg this week - whats that? 7.5 pound? Sorry I'm from New Zealand - all metric. I'm about to go out for a walk in the sunshine with my dog.

Thank you for the encouragement - I know I'll need it - I have a tendency to start alot of stuff and not finish so deeeep breath. I've decided to reward myself with a manicure when I reach my first goal of 5kg. 1.6 to go. Its way to scary to look at the big picture of losing over 50kg!

Hi MissLoud. Nice to meet you. Don't worry about converting kilos to pounds. I'm from Canada and we're metric but most people (at least my age) use pounds when we weigh ourselves although most scales are in kilos and pounds. We use metric for everything else. For anyone who wants to convert just multiply the kilograms by 2.2 and you'll get a rough estimate of what the pounds are. Rewarding yourself along the way is a great strategy.

A little word of advice to you "young 'uns" trying to lose weight by the time you're 30. You just do that right now because it gets much harder when you hit 40 and harder yet in your 50s (some say next to impossible but that's not true, just really hard). And think of all the health benefits over the years that you'll have not to mention all the nice clothes you'll get to wear!

I'm waiting on pictures of the cake from DS's girlfriend. Our camera batteries were dead and we had none recharged so it wasn't til the last minute I realized I had no camera. GF is going to email me the pictures.

Dgramie, you did well avoiding the dessert at the shower. I have a hard time with that. 5 weeks will go fast. Hope you can sleep. We've go almost 6 months and I have nights where I can't sleep for needlessly worrying over foolish details that come to me in the night season. Last night I crawled into bed very late (having fallen asleep on the couch) and told DH I couldn't sleep for worrying that there would not be enough room in the church hall or the guests. Now instead of reassuring me everything would be fine (which I needed to hear so I could sleep) he informs me that the fire department has regulations on how many people can be legally fit into one public place. I'm afraid I was not very Christian in my reply and rolled over and tried to sleep. Ha, ha. All is better in the light of day. I keep making floor plans of the church hall with seating arrangements. I have 3 sets made so far. I'm obsessed. HELP!!! I think I'll make a list of what I need to do and just work on that for a few months.

I'm lazy today. Someone give me a push off the couch and get me going. Have to pick up and put away things and get DH's lunch in a few minutes. Need to exercise and not overeat. Need to give mom a bath. Need to finish my Christmas gingerbread house. Need to get off this computer.

See ya all around soon.

retire- we are starting to panic also on the number of people who will show up. The church will hold 250. She sent out 200 invations knowing alot cant come but the RSVPs are starting to cause me to panic.LOL We may just tell family to get there early to get a seat.LOL Good things its a short wedding service...
I am starting to panic over the weather we are suppost to get tonight and tommorow 8+ inches of snow. I know alot of people deal with that all the time but down here in KY we just dont get that much snow often.
hugs to all and drink your water

Hi. I'm new and think I will be a calorie counter in my weight loss journey. I'm about 215 or so and want to get to 150 eventually. I need some advice on menus and especially if you have any recipes that will satisfy an overweight husband, too that would help. Got any tips for getting started in this journey?

bf and I diet together, would your husband diet with you? I mean maybe you could jsut start cooking healthier and he'll like it?

Guys need more cals than girls generally so my bf who is dieting with me, I make us the same thing but give him bigger portions (he is tracking at 1600 cals and me at 1400 cals).

One of the biggest changes I've made that has REALLY helped me is increasing my fiber to daily rec. amounts and above. It REALLY helps you feel fuller longer.

I eat fruity snacks (today I had a banana, apple and 5 cherry flavored prunes) and some water and this is fibery (new word!) and will tide me over till lunch time.

Also, I have been replacing ground beef with black beans (dunno if you guys like them or not) but I make black bean burritos and black bean chilli and black bean sloppy joes.... woohoo!

Have also replaced all the white sugary bread and white potatoes with sweet potatoes and whole grains. Also, ups the fiber and is good for your sugar.

hope that helps a bit!

! love your avitar too.

I would totaly agree, cook healthy, he gets more, trade fake food for real food, facke foods are high in cals, tend to set off bindges and the body can't really use the nutriants in the food, and measure all the time, if you dont have pick up 2 sets of dishwasher safe spoons and cups!

I would also recomend tracking food on calorie king, fitday, sparks people, daily plate, you can track your activity too ( I have a bodybugg and use that program but I paid for it) it really keeps you mindful and I will add where I though i blew it on Saturday, turns out I didn't

I shop a lot at trader joes, they have some really good stuff, as I am not a great cook, but I will add it took me 10 days to get my calories down, I cut slowly so I wouldn't sprial into a binge, and NOTHING is off my list, I still enjoy chocolate or frozen yougurt, but it fits into my daily alottment.

Good Luck , keep posting and checking in

Lottie...thanks for the advice. He's not on a diet but I want to feed him more healthily so maybe I can feed him what I make but just more of it. I like the fiber idea and need to boost my fiber as well as his.

Dixie...I love your doggie...a pretty black lab. I also have one with big brown eyes...a shepherd. I love dogs. She's fat so I guess I don't exercise enough. I don't think I can handle having frozen yoghert in the house though 'cause I'd eat it all....but a cup of regular would be a good desert for me.

Lottie, I love black beans in just about anything.

Dgramie, can you have the first few pews reserved for family only? I don't know why weddings are so complicated. Go to the church in a nice dress (he wears a suit, of course), say I do, take a few pictures, eat, open gifts and go home or dance.

Still haven't got the Christmas runner off the coffee table. Must do that immediately before it's tomorrow.

Well I'm from Louisiana (a true New Orleans girl) and I'm a single mother....and father I suppose since I have no help from her dad. I'm 28...gonna be 29 this year and have finally decided that I don't like the way I look and want to do something about it. I aspire to be a published author one day and love my beautiful baby girl....who is SO spoiled it is unbelieveable!!!

Hi Nicki, jump right in and post away.

Here's the picture of the wedding cake I did last week. You can't see the roses around the bottom layer very well but they were deep pink and looked like the blue roses around the top layer.
