Good Morning Everyone! Ugh, it's Monday again! I had a real hard time getting out of bed today. LOL! It looks like I was more tired than I thought.

How was everyone's weekend? I'm sore from working out. I did a Turbo Kick class, then yesterday I went for a walk around the lake, 2.8 miles, and I did that twice, so I got 5.6 miles for the start of the week. Not too shabby.

Well have a great Day everyone...and Happy St. Patty's Day!!

Laura -- I've been wondering about cycling a lot lately too, especially since my higher calorie days always occur 2 or 3 in a row (over the weekend). I average between 1400 and 1500 per day, but it's closer to 1200 during the week and significantly more over the weekend. I'm losing at a rate that I'm happy with (roughly 1.5 lbs per week), and I'm generally very active over the weekends, so lately I weigh about the same on Monday as the previous Friday and then lose during the week, so I'm not worried about it in that sense but I wonder if making big swings like that is bad for my heart, or my metabolism, or anything else. I'd be very interested to hear others' experiences with cycling, intentional or otherwise.

Hope you all had good weekends and are enjoying your st patty's day! Mine was long and emotionally exhausting, but everything is fine now and I'm tired but happy. AND I ran 2.2 miles last night, which is the first time I've broken 2 miles, ever. Yay!!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day Everyone! Dh woke me up this morning saying "hey you're not wearing green yet!" So I got woken up by a pinch. Lol.

I was trying to think of what to have for dinner tonight. We don't eat beef so corned beef is out and I like to be festive. So tonight I'm making lentil shepherds pie with a side of sauteed cabbage and whole wheat soda bread. Yum!

I hope everyone is having a good monday!

LOL! Zenor- I cooked an opposite meal of the traditional corned beef. I made spaghetti squash, with marinara sauce and tofurkey sausages. BTW they're so good! I was surprised myself! DF made corned beef and cabbage though. Your pie sounds delish. I love lentils too!

ShyMoment- Very well said. It's nice to look at things in that kind of perspective.

Coldbrightday ~ I saw your note about the pasta. Today I have pasta with tomatoes, green onions, yellow/red bell peppers, 1 cheese stick cute up and a tomato & basil patty, topped off with Italian dressing. It is SOOO good but to pasta is always just the back drop in my meals.

Laura ~ I always try to stay close to the same every day, well when I am being good. You might want to give up the cycling and stay steady on your counts and see if that makes a difference.

Ethiopian food. I have never had it but I was told that it is really fun and different. The closest restaurant to us is about 45 minutes away. I might be able to convince DH some day to give it a try.

Tinky ~ Sounds like the Tofurkey was good, I will have to look for it.

Zenor ~ The Lentil Shepherds Pie sounds yummy!

Well I saw a leprechaun yesterday. LOL! A young man was dressed like one, it was funny and it appeared he was having fun. I wish I would have prepared something traditional but I didn't, just not in the mood.

My weekend once again was a wash because of stress eating. DD is just making my life miserable. I am just beside myself anymore. I decided that when she gets verbally abusive I am going to tell her I am not going to be treated this way and shut my phone off. I don't feel its my responsibility to solve her problems and make her life good. It is her responsibility to get off her rear and clean her act up.

I missed all the excitement here at work yesterday, we had an explosion. I guess it happened as I was walking out the door. Everyone is alright for the most part. The last we knew the faculty member was deaf in her ear that was facing the explosion but all the CAT scans showed nothing so we hope its a temporary thing. She also had a minor cute and some chemicals got on her and the student. The student only had temporary hearing loss. Could have been worse but we won't know what went wrong until the faculty member comes in. 10 more minutes and we would have had the HAZ MAT team hear but because our hazardous person was still hear he saw it was able to clean it up safely. Last year we had the HAZ MAT team hear and cost almost $8000 because a student made a mistake and cause an explosion. He put peroxide into a closed container and the pressure built up and exploded. Thank goodness for our safety equipment like hoods and cabinets that can handle small explosions or who knows how bad the injuries would be.

OH I forgot to mention. I actually got to eat two of our chicken eggs finally. We only one that is laying, 3 hens all together and DH usually eats them but with him being gone I ate them. They are tiny eggs and 2 are about equal to one store bought. The yolks were bright orange and the shells are harder than store bought. At some point I hope we can just get away from store bought eggs all together. Our chickens get to be real chickens. They have their house and a penned in area with a top on it, for when we are not home but when I get home I turn them loose. They get to go pick after the horses, eat bugs and to me, they have a good life. Nice home, food, water and are allowed to forage. They are really happy and will never end up on our dinner plates. GS got a kick out of the rooster crowing this morning as we were heading to the vehicle to leave. They are also friendly chickens.

Lara -- That's so awesome that you have hens! We just got ours last spring and they're laying pretty much daily now. It's almost more eggs than we can eat (and we eat a lot of eggs).

I hope things improve with your daughter. I think you're right that you need to stand up for yourself and she needs to deal with her own life. Being there for her and taking her abuse are two totally different things.

Zenor -- I love shepherd's pie in all its forms. A lentil one sounds delicious! I did one once with shiitake mushrooms, kale, and purple polenta on top. So tasty.

Coldbrightday ~ What breed of hens do you have? We have Bantams. I like them because they are small, variety of breeds, friendly and just really cool looking. Dh wants bigger but I am afraid of bigger chickens. When I was young our neighbor girl was attacked and I saw it happen. I was even afraid of ours at first.

We had a few dozen chickens when I was a kid. They were ok never really bothered anyone but the darn roosters were mean as heck. Would chase my sister and I to the buss stop and jump on us.

Shy ~ That is what happened to my girlfriend. The chickens were eating the dog food and she tried to chase them away and the rooster attacked her. Spurred her right down her back and continued to attack. I screamed for her Mom and believe it or not her Mom got mad at me and sent me home because I didn't go after the rooster and get it off her daughter. What the heck, I was probably 5 years old and no idea what to do and the last thing I wanted was to be attacked. That rooster was mad and in the end he was Sunday dinner. Our rooster so far is very nice and he might want to stay that way for his own good.

Hens are normally really good but my Mom had a couple that would peck us when we went to gather eggs. Our one hen that does sit just grumbles at us but she isn't sitting at this point. She just lays her egg and leaves.

Oooh, I want chickens! You are lucky Lara! I would worry about our little chihuahua though. I think a chicken could take him down! Lol.
