So now I'm going to be paying for two gym memberships, and DH will most likely not ever use his. I figured out that I could join the gym closest to my house and actually come out ahead of my free gym membership, where I drove 15 miles each way. Who would have thunk it? just a thought, i belong to a 24 hour gym which is great and want my bf to go to so they charge you either monthly (no contract involved) or you can bring him with you as a visitor the first time is free after that it is 5.00 each time which i can take him 2 times a week before i hit the membership cost. maybe you could do that and if he stops going as much the price goes down.

I am so bummed...I was waiting till I saw a nicer number on the scale before posting my starting weight and it just won't go down. I gained 4 lbs during the holidays! I was really off plan though, so it is my own fault...still sucks!

Sonja - Welcome back! I didn't see your sign-up, I must have overlooked it.

I like the idea of just paying the guest fee for DH. I hate to doubt his dedication, but I'm a realist. He's not a morning person like I am, and I doubt he'll go alone in the evenings.

Gotta run, work to do.

Wink

I went to my friends yesterday and did some Wii fit. That's a lot of hype. It is not much of a workout. Now the Wii Jillian game is another story. That was much better. Then I came home and did Jillian's Shred. Always a good a** kicking. I am down a pound today. Gotta post that weight pretty soon.

I've haven't posted much in this thread, as I've been way too busy exercising. I unfortunately gained three pounds after the last challenge ended ( ) but I dropped those off last week with my new program. So now I'm back right where I ended the last challenge. I'm putting off my weighin until the last minute, because I want to start this next challenge at a little bit less.

I'm not sure if I mentioned the fact that I joined the program at Jillian's website. At first I was put off by the price, but then I realized that I spend more on Coke Zeros, so that kind of put it in a differenct light. I don't follow her meal plans (I'm way to picky for that to ever work), but I've dropped my calories down to 1400, and I'm doing the circuit exercises. It can be a bit bothersome to find a solid hour in which to workout, but it is only 4 days a week, and after all, I am worth it!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas, and has a fun and safe New Year!

Hi Dee...
Long time no chat. Last time I was here, you were on the world's most evil plateau. I see you finally busted through. Way to go!

And your pup's picture is just adorable. He has that classic "oh-my-gosh-what-are-you-going-to-do-with-that-thing" Chihuahua look.

Has anyone signed up for the Pound for Pound challenge?? I think it's at pfpchallenge.com. Whoever is doing it will give 10cents which they say pays for one pound of food to food banks in the areas where most people sign up, etc. And it will only let you pledge two pounds a week I think. So I pledged the 32 pounds for 4 months because it ends in April I think. (Yes, I know I am guessing about lotsa details but I'm doing work here too so can't focus on much but hey, at least I'm trying!! ) Just gives me an extra push to know that. Thought some of you may want to as well.

I know I need all the motivation I can get!!!

Good Afternoon Everyone. Not much new to report with me. Just killing time at work for another hour and then I'm off until the 5th!!! I am so looking forward to that. Nobody else will be around (except on the 1st when DBF is off) so I'm gonna concentrate on me for a change!!!

So if I don't get back on this thread before then - Have a Happy New Year and be good to yourselves. If we can't be good to us then how can we expect others to?

The gym membership issue is no longer stressing me out. We just found out we're getting an end of year bonus, so that can pay for the gym.

I am worried, however that I won't make good progress with a 45-50 minute workout. Currently I'm doing 50 minutes 3 times a week (when I run my 5Ks + warm-up and cooldown), and the other days I do 10 minutes warmup, 30 weight training, and then the rest of my 5K and cooldown, so 75 minutes 3 days a week. The new gym is closed on Sundays, so either I might take a day off, or more likely I'll go to the track.

The new plan is to break the weight training into upper body/lower body workouts and do cardio after the weights. For example: Day 1 would be lower body, followed by the cardio. Does anyone do this? If so about how long do you weight train? If I do 30 minutes of weight training, that only leaves 20 minutes for cardio, is that going to be enough? Will my 5K time suffer for doing less cardio? I'd think it would.....maybe DH and I could just take separate cars, or I could jog home, it's only a mile or two.

girls!

Sorry I've been MIA, I'm without a computer right now and have been concentrated on Leonidas. It hurts me to see him hurting.

Should get my computer back tomorrow, WOOOT! Then post my starting weight on Thursday. SO ready for the challenge to start!

Anyone have plans for New Years Eve?

Hi everyone! I am excited to be starting this challenge. I joined a challenge a couple of ones ago but dropped out after week 5 or 6. I plan on sticking around this time.
A little about myself. I am turning 43 on Jan. 5th. Married for 21 years. Three children ds (25), dd (18), dd (soon to be 17). One granddaughter (18 months old) & 2 dogs! My son and his fiancee and the baby lived with us until about 5 months ago. And my 18 year old went off to college about the same time. It was really hard when they moved out but I got over that and am loving my life with much less responsibilities!!! The house stays clean and I only need to cook for two most nights. I am an elementary school guidance counselor. Love my job most days.
I have been overweight most of my adult life. Have had some heart health scares lately and need to finally do this. I love to workout...it is always the food that trips me up.
I am really excited because I know I am going to do it this time!
Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi everyone! I cant wait til this challenge starts! I had to sit out the last challenge I was baking a lil turkey! He is now here (He is 7 weeks old) and I am still 45 lbs heavier than when I got pregnant. I am really hoping this challenge motivates me into kicking these pounds to the curb!

ETA: Those 45 pounds referenced above, I had just lost those same pounds in 2007! Grr!

Congratulations on your new baby, Kimberly!

I changed my ticker to 10 pounds. I've decided to start tackling this remaining weight in 10 pound increments. 10 pounds is so much more do-able! I've also taken an idea from MJ and will be rewarding myself each time I reach my 10 pound goal. This past weekend, I picked up this as my first reward. I bought the bath creme and the body lotion. I'm keeping it on my desk for an occasional sniff, but I can't use it yet!

Have a great on-plan day!
