This is a tough one. I guess it would be the hearty soups and chilis. They're usually fairly low calorie, but delicious!

Good morning ladies~ Monday is here already, huh!LOL! I just got back from the gym, and I'm determined to make this week a great one! I bought the 30 day Shred video. I'm going to watch it today...I like to watch new workout videos once through before doing them. I like to know what I'm in for!LOL! The weekend was really nice. Saturday I went and got my flu shot and then Kev and I did a little Christmas/Birthday shopping. Kyle's b-day is next Tuesday. We have a great start on Christmas gifts for our kids...that makes me happy. We bought Rock Band for Joey...I have to say I'm super excited to play that;) I'm going to ask Kev for Wii Fit for Christmas...the whole family will be doing that. We love Wii in the winter. Kev made homemade pizza and breadsticks Saturday night. Needless to say I ate way to much! I'm getting this whole family on track though this week. I've got fresh fruit for snacks....no more munching on junk! Yesterday Kev and Joey went to a supposed haunted cematary and abandon mental hospital...not my cup of tea, but they had fun. They're getting into the Halloween spirit I guess!LOL! The little ones and I just hung around the house yesterday. How was your guys weekend? Hope it was relaxing for ya:) Have a wonderful day ladies~

Good morning everyone!

Well I managed to lose the bloat from Saturday thank goodness and went back to my 2 pound loss which was all I was expecting for this week since I didn't get a ton of exercise in. My goal is 2 pounds a week so I am more than happy with the scale. I also lost another 2 inches, all in upper body. My waist is now at a 38. No cause for rejoice but it is seriously the last place I lose weight, so I usually fit into smaller pants but they're super tight at the waist and give me muffin top. I am so disfigured it's not even funny. So I am just taking what I get and being happy with it. A loss is a loss anywhere on the body!

I started to feel sick yesterday, but in a weird way. I am exhausted despite good sleep two days in a row now, and I can barely get around without feeling light headed. Work is going to be interesting tonight, that is for sure. I didn't get in a workout yesterday because of how crappy I felt but I did clean the bathrooms and do 75% of the laundry so I was moving around a little bit.

Today if I am not feeling better, I will just walk for 30 minutes before DS's gymnastics class. I don't want to overdo it when I am under the weather because that always makes me feel worse. But I will at least walk!

What I really like is what we refer to as "cooked dinner" here in Newfoundland. It's similar to New England Boiled dinner. The vegetables are potato, carrot, turnip and cabbage. Most people around here also make what is called peas pudding which is boiled yellow split peas which become very thick. Sometimes I make peas pudding, too. I'm vegetarian so I don't have the meat so I have a vegetarian entree. This dinner is really quite low in calories because most of the vegetables are really low in calories. I make an almost fat-free gravy to go with this meal. Now, I'm hungry for "cooked dinner".

I weighed in this morning and surprised myself because I've lost another 1.5 pounds.

Good morning Friends!
Well I did something this weekend that I have not done in a LONG time...I stayed on plan all weekend! I was even at several events this weekend that had food, and I didn't eat any of it. I forced myself to stay on plan with no cheat meals all weekend, because I know that this is going to be a tough week at work. We will have people in the office from out of town which means lots of catered lunches. Oh no!
Anyway, I posted a one pound loss for the week, which I am really happy about. One pound a week is my goal, and I didn't think I would be able to pull it out this week. I have lost 6 pounds so far in this challenge!

Beth - That's AWESOME! And you're SO CLOSE to goal! :yay: Great job staying on plan! Keep up with your #1 a week and you'll Pass by your goal by the end! WOO HOO!

Okay - I still love that NS is so easy, but I'm having trouble finding any food that I like! Yesterday, I was eating a lunch bar (fudge graham) and I told my husband I thought it tasted like fish. He laughed, and was like, "Well, that's probably how they get those omega 3's in there." I read the label and sure enough, in the fudge graham bar was FISH!!! Sardine, tilapia, and anchovy to be exact!!!!!!!

Blech blech blech.

LOL

Great QOTD - I love all soups - especially chili and stew and anything bean based. MMMMMMM! I have a great (easy!) but not so healthy black bean'n'bacon soup recipe.....

Enygirl 10-20-2008 03:01 PM

Sarah - OMG - How GROSS! :p and Funny! Maybe that's how they get you to lose the weight though!

retiredone - I've been craving a "cooked dinner" for MONTHS now! I just haven't thought of it at all when I'm doing my grocery shopping! Now you just put that idea back into my head! AHH!!! :) My Shepard's pie isn't going to taste as good tonight with that on my mind... :lol3:

crown - welcome back! #1 up isn't much.. you can lose that! Let's get to work girl!!! :lifter:

Umm... hmmm... I'm a "throw it in the pot" cooker ;) But I can tell you what I used.
  • bonless skinless chicken breast
  • green pepper
  • onion
  • 1/4 tsp. chili powder
  • garlic powder
  • Tastefully Simply garlic garlic
  • 1 can green chilis
  • 2 cans great northern beans
  • pinch of salt
  • black pepper
  • 2 cans chicken broth
  • 1/4 tsp. oregano

I cooked the chicken, onion, green pepper and spices together until the chicken was done and the pepper and onion were soft.

Threw it in a pot w/ everything else and heated. :) Next time I might not use as much broth, it ended up a little soupy. It tastes GREAT with some corn chips too!

I did level 1 of Shred today. I have to say I was a little cocky thinking it would be a cake walk...it wasn't!!!LOL! I must of been mad though to think anything Jillian does is a cake walk. I did workout at the gym this morning though, so I was a bit tired doing it. I think I'll try and do that every day though...seriously I have 20 min. a day. Maybe next week I'll attempt level 2:)

Sarah- That is disgusting...I would of gagged!LOL! Glad your liking it though. Hopefully you'll start to find some foods you enjoy though.

Beth- Your so close......great job staying OP over the weekend. That is always hard for me!

cakses- Hope you feel better. I hate when I feel under the weather...very hard to be motivated when your not feeling well. I'm doing laundry today, but I'm only about 25% done!LOL!

cakses 10-20-2008 05:36 PM

I went to the gym late and messed up and thought my son's class started at 1:05 instead of 1:20 so I robbed myself of half of my workout. Bah. Oh well. I ran a mile and did a little warm up and cool down and I will just stay after work tonight and do something else.

Op for food although I have nothing planned for dinner which is a bad thing. I will figure something out though. Off to prep for work!
