Hi all!

I am deferring my WI to later this week, cause I did not like what the scale had to say this am! I hope that's not considered cheating. Its just that I got really sunburned and dehydrated over the weekend at the agility trial (we got 2 Q's!!!! One in touch and go and one in jumpers!). Anyway, I know my body is probably overreacting to the stress and retaining water. At least I hope so... I worked hard to be on plan all week!

I fell behind on the chat this weekend. I'll catch up and do personals in a bit.

Quick shout-out to Dora - I'm off to work in my garden. I'll be thinking of you and you fun garden weekend!

Shopaholic1204 05-05-2008 01:18 PM

Hey...I just got back from the ER. I was there for 3 hours!!!! I was there for 2reasons. 1-I started feeling these really sharp stomach pains and I was literly on the floor crawling and crying because it hurt so much. And 2-because of that pain, I freaked out and had a panic attack. Then they had to give me oxygen because I couldnt catch my breath after having a 2nd panic attack while they tried to put an IV in me.

They did an ultrasound on my stomach and couldnt find anything wrong. They just think that I had a bad reaction to the food I ate last night, and probably had a little stomach bug. Which sounded like bs to me..but whatever. They gave me some meds to take if it happens again.

I'm gonna go try to get some sleep right now. I hope Fonzo calls me soon..

Jill - I understand what you mean. I can't compete with those who can do 2 hours a day. But,... I don't really want to either, to tell the truth. I'm excited that I get in about 50 minutes a weekday and about 30 - 60 minutes on weekend days. Heck, I can't even compete with you getting up 30 minutes earlier. I think that's a fantastic feat. ;)

Lovely 05-05-2008 01:19 PM

Francie - What an ordeal! I hope you're feeling better.

I could do two hours a day, but I would have to totally neglect my children and spouse, our business and the house. Also, it would drain my checking account to have to pay for childcare.

jillybean720 05-05-2008 01:33 PM

aww Francie  get some rest and feel better!

I went out for a walk at lunch. I should have known I couldn't so much as go for a walk with my big dumb feet without sneakers. Now I have a huge painful blister on the top of my foot. And, of course, I have no other shoes to wear for the rest of the day here, so I have to keep wearing the shoes that gave me the blister, which means it will just keep rubbing. I put some band aids on it, but I have to go to the store still, too, which means more walking around. I'm such a big baby :p

It was a good thing I got up early this morning to exercise. We've been trying to transition our pups out of their crates more often so we don't have to crate them all night every night and 9 hours a day for the rest of their lives. So, we've started by letting them stay out of their crates when we go to bed--that way, we're still home in case anything happens. Well, I guess all the toys we buy them just aren't enough. I came down this morning to find a couple little pieces of polyfill stuffing at the base of the stairs. I figured maybe they'd ripped open yet another little stuffed toy--no big deal. Oh no. They ripped open the big microfiber cushiony bed I bought them. There was stuffing EVERYWHERE in the living room! So I had to clean that all up before I got to my workout. I guess I should be thankful it was their bed and not the couch...

pintobean 05-05-2008 01:38 PM

Onthetee, I sent you the recipe. Let me know how it goes :)

Findingfawn, good luck. Keep us posted. Hope you're feeling better

Francie, sorry to hear you had to go thru all that. Hopefully you're feeling better. And I wish they could have come up with an answer as to what caused you that severe pain.

Jillybean, I'm with ya...I'm surprised too. I have to give kudos to you for getting up at 4:30 :)...I set my alarm for 5:30 and I can't make myself to get out of bed. And I can't even count laundry or vaccum as my DH does that. So I have to totally count my exercises. Weekends are the only time I can do extra exercise. Weekdays I'll be lucky if I get 1 hour done.

I can only speak for myself of course, but I'm not working right now, so I have plenty of time for exercise. I am doing house projects (like painting the entire exterior of our home, stuff like that) but since I'm the boss I'm pretty flexible with my time. When I was working I used to get up at 4 am to get in long runs before work or I would actually bike to work and then I'd do a bit more exercise at home at night. It was definitely tougher to fit in. And I have no kids, except my furbabies, so that helps, too.

I love to do that. The only problem for me is the day after, the rice/soy sauce combo makes me feel fat.

I used to feel that way, but I think was way overdoing the soy sauce. I've weened myself down to 2 teaspoons of low sodium soy for a whole roll, which of course still packs a wallop but doesn't seem to cause me to retain water, thank goodness. Even so, I tend to have that meal for lunch or at latest in the early evening so I have plenty of time to drink tons of water!

suitejudyblueeyes 05-05-2008 01:55 PM

Oh good, I'm not the only one who can't commit to 2 hours of exercise a day :p There's just so much more to life for me! And I don't even have kids yet!

Thanks for the changes, chellez, though I must have missed what it was to begin with. Probably would have scared the pants off me :D

I had a great weekend, being outdoors in the sunshine, running around. Went for what was probably my most successful jog ever yesterday morning - my legs got tired before my lungs! Usually I run out of breath far before my legs run out of energy. So I guess that cardiovascular health is improving, hmm?

Ate too much junk this weekend, though. C'est la vie. Not too much to do but accept it and move on...

I have a pretty tough project here at work for the next couple days so I won't be on as much as I'd prefer, but I'll try to pop in from time to time. Have a good Monday everyone.

jillybean720 05-05-2008 01:57 PM

Thanks for the kudos on getting up earlier for exercise, everyone :^: Honestly, that's MUCH easier for me than exercising in the evening. Once I get home from work, I just want to sit on the couch and not move.

I've been looking at exercise equipment online. I want an elliptical very much, but a good one is very expensive, and the cheaper ones often have a weight capacity of 250-275 pounds, but I'm over 300. Since I'm still starting out and am not exactly fit yet, I was thinking of trying one of these:
http://cdn.overstock.com/images/prod.../P11132482.jpg
It's a little mini elliptical without handlebars, and I can find it for under 100 bucks. Our couch is not up against a wall, so I thought this might be good to use behind the couch (so I could lean on the couch for balance if needed) while watching tv. Anyone ever used anything like this before? I know it will have a smaller range of motion than a real elliptical, but, like I said, I'm still just starting out. I haven't been able to find the weight capacity on them, though (there are 2 models I've found).

I got up at 4:30am today just to squeeze in a 30-minute workout before work. I'm going to try for a 30-minute walk at lunch and another 30 minutes of exercise at home tonight, but that's still only 90 minutes total. Am I really that bad at time management? I get up at 4:30, exercise (30 minutes) take the pups out and feed them, get ready for work (half hour--I'm low maintenance :p ), drive to work (1 hour), work (9 hours--8 plus 1 hour for lunch), drive home (1 hour), take the pups out and feed them, make and eat dinner (1 hour), hopefully talk to Jeff for a few minutes, and by then it's going on 7pm, and I have to be in bed by 10 (and even then, I'm not getting anywhere close to the 8 recommended hours of sleep). Those last 3 hours are usually for chores and errands and a little exercise while watching tv. I sometimes even have to run errands during my lunch break at work since there's a Whole Foods and Trader Joe's near my work, but not close to home. I don't have any kids or even hobbies to take up my time--how do these people do it?!

Just flabbergasted is all :dizzy:

Well I dont work fulltime, just parttime and that is in the evenings and weekends. My kids are in school on Mon/Wed and some fridays so I have those days to myself. I dont go to the gym everyday, but I try to make sure I go on those days. I also go to the gym on the tues/thurs because my twins have their own programs that they are part of. I sometimes sneak an hour workout in on those days too.

I couldn't do it if I had to work full time and do all the house stuff, but just working part time makes all the difference.

I am cheerful today as well. I got 10! hours of sleep last night. Meara only got up to potty once, and we both went back to sleep. Looks like I am kicking the sinus infection without meds, and my garden is in!

Also, I am designing a set of gretting cards that I hope to sell, and I found some time to work on those.

Im so glad you are starting to feel better! Sinus infections suck. and YAY for the garden!:carrot:

 Just remember that the scale fluctuates up and down from day to day all the time. Don't be discouraged, you have done well all week and regardless of what the scale says you should celebrate your success!

Hi all.. just trying to catch up a bit more... man when you miss a few hours here you are like lost.. don't even think of not having time to read for a whole day or 2.. man alive!

Nora and Zinkemom I love the dollar store tests.. they used to feed my POAS addiction when we were TTC. We quit trying this time around last Oct... when I felt like I was going to have a breakdown with all the temping and timing and charting and all that wonderful stuff. It got to be such a let down every single month. I made a comment to hubby about picking up a test today when we run to the dollar tree for a big lighter thinggy.. and he didn't answer me, just ignored me.. so we will see. I really don't want to test at all... I don't want to know either way..lol.

Francie.. I hope you are feeling better. You have alot on your plate right now, try to take it easy, and keep yourself busy.. do you know how to knit? How bout crochet? If not there are lots of sites online to teach you with videos... I learned to knit off the internet, it's a good time killer.

Francie, have you eaten anything with sugar alchohols? Maybe, your Cherry Garcia? On February 15th, I ended up in the ER with severe stomach cramps. I'd never felt anything like it! Turns out, it was the sugar free Werther's candies that Hubby got me for Valentine's Day. Hope you feel better.

Jill, how old are your pups? I've crate trained several dogs....9 to be exact...and the recommendation is that they not be allowed to roam without supervision until they are at least 2. They are technically still puppies with puppy personalities up until then. It may seem cruel to us, but the crate can be a place of security and comfort. I make sure not to use it as a "babysitter" when I'm home, but when I'm gone they are crated, and when I'm in bed, they are in the crate beside my bed.

2 years  I had no idea it should be that long! They are just over 9 months. I don't feel cruel in crating them--they willingly run in when I get up and yell, "Crate time!" We still give them a treat each time they go in, too; otherwise, Bowser will get defiant and run in the kitchen. He will also do this if we begin repeatedly using treats that are not his favorite :dizzy:

We don't bring the crates up to our bedroom when we're sleeping. They sleep in their crates in the living room. We need to get a bigger crate for Bean, though, as she's getting almost too tall to stand in hers anymore.

I get a good deal at my gym - $4 for 2 hours for both kiddos! Still, I pay more for childcare there per month than I do for my monthly dues. The girls love it there to top it off and are so excited to go. Plus, I honestly enjoy working out, so it's not a difficult thing to make fit into my schedule. Of course, I have to be flexible sometimes.

Sorry you had a rough time, Francie. Glad nothing was seriously wrong though. Do you work? Where do you live? On base?
