MJ - thanks for the encouragement on the garden - I'm all a-twitter thinking about creating and managing it:carrot:.

Jilly - I too love to feed and watch the birds out the window - we have woodpeckers, blue jays, juncos, towhees and finches (house finches and yellow) and the dreaded starlings!!!

QOTD:

Like Jilly - I'm getting serious about exercising again :strong:
Like Jaimie - I FEEL way better:dance:
Like Tina - knowing others are counting on me makes me work harder :kickbutt:

I'm off to look up this trike - like scooter. I read about it last year and had planned on getting one, but somehow, it got lost in the busyness that is life. I'll let you all know what I learn - it really looks like a fun way to exercise.

I had a good weekend for exercising. I did lots of different things, dancing, tennis, driving range. I felt good about it, today I got up and did some Taebo (and I just remembered I did 10 mins on a bike getting to a friends house, I better update the Exercise Challenge week 2). Then I saw the exercise Week 2 challenge and I wish I had done more! I am going to find it really really tough to fit in 111mins a day, I will try my best, got to keep pushing for the blues! : )

amouse 05-05-2008 12:55 AM

yeah i want them to make it half price week every minute conts for 2 miles .. that would mean still 64 minus a day for 6 days or 55ish minutes a day for 7 .. but i guess its up to what the team leaders decide .. i actully was quite upset when i saw the miles and my first thought was to not bother joining.. but i did .. just so you can all see me fail.. at least that way i think the badge i already earned will count at the end of the 15 weeks

I just thought also maybe they could make this one go for 2 weeks instead for the same amounts each day 55 ish minutes .. just a thought..

Chelle...the weigh in deadline is 11:59 pm EST right?! Ya scared me there for a minute I thought I'd been telling my team wrong but I looked in the FAQ and you've got 11:59 EST there. Unless something changed I dont know about!

OMG!! I just watched a really good movie On Demand!! Its called, Wristcutters: A Love Story. It was different and interesting and kinda cute towards the end. I really enjoyed it. I hoped it recorded because I want dh to watch it when he gets home. If not, then I'm gonna buy it. Anyways...wheres what its about:

Quote:

Despondent over his breakup with Desiree, Zia slashes his wrists and goes to an afterlife peopled by suicides, a high-desert landscape dotted by old tires, burned-out cars, and abandoned sofas. He gets a job in a pizza joint. By chance, Zia learns that Desiree offed herself a few months after he did, and she's looking for him. He sets off with Eugene (an electrocuted Russian rocker) to find her, and they pick up a hitchhiker, Mikal, who's looking for the People in Charge, believing she's there by mistake. They're soon at the camp of Kneller, where casual miracles proliferate. They hear rumors of a miraculous king. Can Zia find Desiree? Then what? Where there's death there's hope.

Good morning, Blue Team!

Yesterday at Jeff's mom's wasn't toooo bad...except for the food. She made lunch: corn on the cob, pork chops drowning in bbq sauce, baked beans with bacon, deviled eggs, baked potatoes, and ice cream cake for dessert :o I had as small a portion I could of each item, but I'm sure the calories were still pretty ridiculous. And to top it off, we ended up eating dinner out, so MORE calories, even though I just got a salad with grilled chicken. Therefore, I am NOT weighing in today for this week, even though I weighed in on Monday last week :p

tkglenn 05-05-2008 06:45 AM

good morning all. I'm alittle on the better side today. I've been alittle down all weekend. I bake cakes and it's hard to decorate a cake when I'm feeling like that. My health is still pretty much the same. Not as painful but still there. I think some of it had disappeared actually. Well, will be back later. Got a busy day today. Gotta go weigh myself and post.

Hello everyone!!! Just checking in - pretty uneventful day!!!! Spent 25 minutes instructing dance with my kindergarten class today that I am counting towards the exercise challenge... we dance to "I like to move it" from Madagascar, which is pretty upbeat... I break into a sweat and so do the kids.

Liam had swimming tonight so we didnt go walking - I am going to do my "bones" workout -Liam's reference to my hand weights.

Have a great start to the week...Catch up with you all later.

Good morning everyone!

Lots to catch up on. Just hope everyone has a good upcoming week.

At work now, plenty to do!

Good morning, Bluesers! Happy Monday.

I am so glad to have the weekend behind me. My workday schedule makes losing weight so much more convenient! Today is the big day....I re-start the modified C25K program. I'm battling the negative brain talk that keeps sneaking into my head when I'm not on-guard. I'm finding that my brain can be quite creative when recommending reasons for not starting the program today.:D "I didn't get much sleep last night and the right knee is just a bit touchy today and I need to go grocery shopping and I haven't been strength training so my leg muscles aren't strong enough to support the knee......yada,yada,yada." I've decided that I'll get my exercise today even if it means that some things will remain un-done and Hubby will have to pick up the slack with the kids, dogs, MIL, etc. If I'm going to continue to have a loss every week....which is my goal for this challenge...I must exercise.

But still..I'm so disappointed in myself. All my hard work probably just went down the drain. What a freakin failure I am.

Francie, that is no way to talk to yourself. You messed up. Now, it's time to pick yourself up and keep going. One mistake doesn't have to define your journey. Are you blogging? Now is a good time to think about what went wrong and why you turned to the food and come up with an alternate plan. Your plan might include removing major temptation items from your house.

:carrot: Great job!

Hope everyone has an awesome on-plan day! I can't wait to find out if we won week 1.

Well, looks like I am down just slightly on the scale this morning--I'm not going to post it officially, though. I know the scale was much lower over the weekend, so I'll try to flush myself out today and maybe tomorrow and see if the scale will be friendlier before posting my official weight for the blue team :)

I ran a report from my Daily Plate and ended up with an average of 2201 calories per day over the past week. My gut instinct is that it's a bit high, but my brain reminds me that I'm at a VERY high starting weight, so a higher amount of calories is good to start with so I have somewhere to go as I get lighter and my losses slow or stop. I'm also doing 70+ minutes of exercise a day now thanks to these challenges, so I need a few extra calories for that, too.

Good morning Blue Team! I decided last night that I HAVE to get back into some sort of routine or I'm going to lose it. I just want to come back here and have a place I can forget everything bad that is going on. Right now, things are pretty bad with my BIL, and if he survives this whole thing it will be a LONG recovery and doubtful he will be the same person he was. All of our lives are sure to change, so I need a place to come to that doesn't change. A place where I can talk about working out, food...whatever, and not feel guilty about still wanting to talk about NORMAL things and laugh every once in awhile. Even just saying that out loud makes me feel guilty, but I HAVE to have something that stays the same when everything around me is changing. Does that make sense?

I lost 7.8lbs this week! I'm happy about the weight loss, but I NEED to get back to the gym!!!! I can't believe it, but I miss :drill: . I plan on going to the gym today and getting back into my routine. I've pretty much stayed on plan, but I really need to get back to eating all my whole foods and exercising daily. I can certainly feel the difference in my body and energy level. Plus, without my steel cut oats and fruit every morning...I'm not...um...well....regular, anymore! ;)

Erica is home until May 17th and she looks beautiful. I swear, my heart feels like it is going to burst with pride when I look at this 19 year old girl and realize she is ALREADY an amazing woman. As a mom I feel such a sense of accomplishment when I see how independent she is. It's a great feeling. Before I picked up Erica at the airport, I ran to the store and bought a cute little outfit to show off my new bod. Size 12 pants!! :carrot: I felt great and Erica could not believe the difference in me. I started counting my weight loss at 225lbs., but at Erica's graduation from boot camp I weighed 240lbs. So for her, it was shocking to see how different I look since she hasn't seen me since then. The moment was priceless and I felt so proud of myself.:carrot:

Looking through the weight loss thread it looks like the blue team is going strong!!:grouphug: I'm so glad to be back to weighing in weekly.

Well, I'm going to go back and read through some posts and try to catch up on what I've missed. Thanks for all the support, I really love you guys. I look forward to sharing this challenge with all of you.

Hope you're feeling better today. Have you thought of getting one of those at home pregnancy tests from a pharmacy. Trust me you'll feel more relaxed once you know for sure :) I totally understand about you wanting to get the weight off first cuz I want the weight off too before I can become pregnant. Well, maybe for your sake I hope it's just a flu...kind of weird wanting someone sick but you know what I mean ;)

It was a lunch portion, but still. Stupid. It was a treat. It should have been savored. The only positive was that the naan was not that good, so I pitched it.

I hope you enjoy it better next time. It can get heavy. Have you tried plain Roti? It is another Indian flat bread but sits lighter than naan as made from different flour. I love naan but unfortunately it feels heavier in stomach :) Oh if you want I can tell you how to make paneer at home ;)

Missingmyerica, will keep you BIL in my thoughts and prayers. Hope he gets better soon. And congrats on your moment with your daughter seeing you after your weight loss. I'm sure it was awesome.

Our weekend was busy, we removed mulch from our patch of a garden yesterday. The reason I call it a patch is cuz we have a Townhouse and we have limited gardening space. Anyway, the amount of time it took us to remove the mulch (and 2 small trees) from our garden anyone would think we had a full size garden. We were there from noon to probably about 7 PM minus 2 hours running to the store, buying dirt and eating lunch. I pruned the evergreen bushes (never done it before in my life) and they came out looking skinned :D Today my right hand and forearm are hurting so bad. I had to take advil this morning as the pain started last night. So phase 1 is complete. All this week we'll be working on the patch after work. So hopefully it will be done by friday. We decided to go with stones instead of wood mulch and we'll be lining with brick to give it a nice outline. We'll be planting 2 new trees and maybe some flowers.
