Karen -

I don't have Jari's newest one but I hear good things about it.

They all are fairly good as far as the workouts go. I dislike the sets/music on the newer ones but that's just me. (boring gray background) I like the body pump feeling to the first one the best.

The basic differences about the tapes:

Ripped to the core - lots of "compound" moves (several exercises at once)
Ripped 1000 - has cardio bursts in them nothing creative but increases HR
Slim and lean - lots of longer sets
The new one is Ripped and chiseled... I don't have this one.

You really can't go wrong with her tapes as far as the exercises go. Ripped 1000 seems to be the least liked DVD, but I don't mind the cardio bursts but I do dislike the up and down from exercises on the floor to cardio bursts.

Hi all, just checking in. Hope you are doing well. I'm spending a lot of time out in the gardens still, so I haven't had time to post much. I did get some new DVDs this week (10 minute solutions series - 2 pilates, yoga, and fitness ball) so I have been able to mix it up more. And my weight is dropping again

Ummmm, fight off the riff raff lol I thought we on the red team were the riff raff lol. Your the Riff and I'm the Raff lol. Not to leave counting out she is Raff too lol. I was thinking the same thing, this wait is like waiting for Eureka to start again.

Counting
I still haven't gotten my fitness ball and Leslie's dvd. I really need to. I need to mix it up a bit myself.

ksk
I wondered why you weren't around as much.

Tina
You are a wonderful person. I can think of little worse than making me put up with kids again. Now don't get me wrong. I loved being a stay at home mom. I loved every moment of watching my kids grow up and not missing a thing. My time is done. I like a clean house, I like quite. I tell my kids now ( ages 17 and 21 ), please they fight like they are 5 and 6 lol. I do not care about fair, I care about quiet. I tell my son, oh SHUT UP, she has my things too lol. I tell my daughter, GET OVER IT, I am missing my watch and I am sure your brother isn't the one who BORROWED it. YES, I said SHUT UP. I know, today in this modern world we are not suppose to say SHUT UP, we are to say be quiet. If I wanted them to be quiet, I would say be quite. When I say SHUT UP that is what I mean lol.

I was talking with the kids today. We were talking about what we thought heaven would be like. I said in heaven I can eat all the banana pudding I want and never gain an oz lol.

HA! Rennie, you sound like me! I have loved being a SAHM too, but I am also sooo glad he's a teenager now and doesn't "need" me quite so much. I like a clean house too and I like things quiet and calm. When things get chaotic, my mind does too and I get all grumpy. I've been grumpy all week actually, but that's my man's fault this time...Don't get me started... I've skipped the GYM all week and I can definately see a difference in my attitude. I've stayed OP with eating, but I need to get moving. I cleaned the house ALL day yesterday and stayed busy, and I was actually breathing hard. I was working so hard, lol...felt good.

BTW, did I mention I went to Walmart and got me a regular "Pink" Hula Hoop? I can actually do this one. It's actually kind of fun! Once I master this, hopefully, I can safely transition to my weighted one and not kill my shins anymore, lol!

YAY! While typing this post up my Bob Harper "Are You Ready" arrived! I'm so excited!!!!

Hi Ladies . . . I fell off the wagon at the very end of the last challenge, but I'm back. I've been exercising in the interim, but my eating has been off. I know it's because I haven't been posting to support my RED teamies. I'm recommitting today! I posted my weight this morning. I'm ready for the new challenge.

Thanks for taking me back!

As much as I hated to I did post my weight. And I'm just taking it slow and easy with the exercise. I'm just doing little walks so far, haven't gotten on my exercise bike yet to see how it will feel. I'm excited to get this challenge going!!!

Man, I have the dang munchies today! I wonder if it's pms or these antibiotics? Either way, I am trying to work the today.

I'm about to cut me son's hair and then me some Bob Haper!

I think it's "official" now, the All Team Chat Thread has turned into more of a "Go Green" thread. I thought this was a weight loss forum? O'well.

Default A word from Jillian

The Right Attitude
Do you have what it takes to reach your weight-loss goals? If you think it's all about diet and exercise, you're wrong. It sounds crazy, I know. Exercise and a proper diet are crucial to any weight-loss and fitness program. But, to reach any long term goal — especially one that requires major lifestyle change — you'll need to improve your attitude, too. You can have all the external support in the world, but if your self-esteem is in the toilet, you'll never have long-term success.
Having the right attitude is so important because thought is behavior. The power of the mind is total — the way you think about yourself manifests as your reality. We all know how easily negative thoughts can lead to lack of confidence, hopelessness, and depression. You've heard about self-fulfilling prophecy, right? Well, if you tell yourself that you'll always be fat or never find happiness, chances are you'll end up fat and unhappy. Hey, it makes sense.

Okay, let's turn that scenario around. Tell yourself that you can get fit and you will be happy. It's that simple. You can master your own fate with positive thinking!

I suppose I have a few NSV's to share:

I am having the baggy underwear situation, my rings keeps slipping off my finger and my slide on shoes (Slippers & sandles) shoes are slipping off my feet now. I guess I lost weight in my feet! How weird. I never thought THAT would happen!

Anyway's, I am going through my hundreds of email's, so I may share more goodies here today....

Default More words of Wisdom from Jillian:

Slow and Steady
Remember the fable about the tortoise and the hare? The hare got off to a zippy pace and seemed sure to win. But he didn't, did he? The tortoise, while naturally much slower than the hare, kept moving steadily towards the finish line and was able to cross first.
What's the take-home message of this fable? Slow and steady wins the race. To reach your weight-loss goals, you need to switch from the hare's to the tortoise's mindset. In other words, you must break the "all or nothing" mentality.

Do you start diets with super superhuman resolve — determined to eschew temptation and work out seven days a week — only to fall off the wagon and give up hope?

This kind of approach to anything — especially to your health — can be very appealing, even motivational. Hey, I'm telling you right now it's the most dangerous way to set out. Human beings are imperfect. When you do skip a workout or give in to temptation (something we all do), you're more likely to throw in the towel.

So, start thinking like a tortoise. Pace yourself. Have a slice of pizza and take a day off now and then, but don't stray too far from the path that will you to your goals.

Rennie is our self-proclaimed resident tortoise! And what Rennie does with her eating and exercise is right on track with Jillian's thoughts on being a tortoise. Is it coincidence that Rennie has been so successful being a tortoise?....I don't think so!!!

Thanks for the inspirational posts! I really have noticed that *overall* I have had the I-can-do mentality this time (since Jan 1st - *overall* because I have had minor mental setbacks) and I've been more successful than I have been in years. I try to envision myself as thin lately.

I CAN do this! WE CAN do this RED team!!! Every single one of us can...don't let yourselves forget it either! We're gonna get healthy and subsequently thinner!!!!
