I worked out for an hour during biggest loser show tonight. I usually do 2 hours of cardio but DS had a soccer game at 6pm 30 minutes away and then mom came with us and we went out to dinner at Chili's because it was late and we didn't want to cook. I made good choices, only ate half my chicken and rice and saved the rest for tomorrow. Finished OP day 53!

Fellow Red girls I've lost my marbles.

I'm officially a Triathlete in training now. I'm signed up! Not only that but I signed up for the one that is more of a challenge distance wise. Like the one the do in the Olympics!

I know I'm going to have to work my *** off for the next 6 months. What sold me on jumping in the deep end is apparently I have until July to switch it to the Sprint Division... so if I discover I just don't think I can make it I still will get to do the crazy big one I wanted to do. http://www.chicagotriathlon.com/

I'm also going to do one in June or July that is women only to gear up for the big one that will be a sprint distance. I haven't decided which one yet.

So um... I give new meaning to watch me bloom! Eeeek!

Roni, I agree with you as well. Couldn't believe that they were loading up on treats in front of him. However, I am such a people-pleaser that I think it goes both ways. The family should not have had treats in his face, but he also should not have gone around throwing them away and being radical about it. I would hope he's developed more willpower than that from TBL, especially since he's trying to win a contest! I think it should be easier for him than for people like us, who are trying to make positive changes in their life without an additional prize. He needs to learn a lesson from you

Congratulations Ideal!!! SO EXCITING! I've wanted to do a triathlon for a while but haven't yet gotten motivated enough to sign up. Keep us posted on your progress!

Good morning everybody,

Just wanted to say thanks for all the support. The last couple of weeks have been stressful, not only did my cousin and one of my closest friends die within two days but that same week my neighbours brother died of a heartattack at 54 and my other friends brother of cancer....I mean when it rains it pours. Its funny I never thought I was a stress eater, but the last two weeks have proven me wrong...I think I tend to eat if I am depressed of sorrow. Well, I made up my mind yesterday driving to work...enough is enough! I need to take control and put myself back on track! I also realized how much you guys all motivate me and inspire me to go on, and for that I thank you all. I am back and will try, like before to chat each day and be part of such a wonderful group. I was OP all day yesterday, exercised as well. I am going to step it up as I can do this...we all can we deserve it! Have a great day ladies...talk to you soon.
Ciao!

I disagree, I think he absolutely should have thrown out all the junk. You are a product of your environment and to an obese person these types of food are toxic. If you want to be successful you've got to start with a successful environment. If you had a drug addict in the home or an alcoholic you wouldnt leave drugs or booze around, well the same is true for a food addict. The rest of the family doesnt NEED that junk food. Its not about willpower. And trust me, coming from experience, everyone is far better off having fruit in the house instead of junk. My family actually prefers it that way and I'm the only one with the weight problem. All that processed food is no good for anyone fat or not and in children can contribute to issues down the road. They can still have their snacks but it doesnt have to be a staple in the house.

I agree with Mel. I think the radical way in which he made his point across to his family is EXACTLY what needed to be done, and just look at his numbers to prove it. In comparison, look at Paul and how he did? Did he throw stuff away and tell him peeps to cut it out? NO. They were actually teasing him with food and he CAVED! And HIS numbers showed it as well. I have noticed anymore, my son is prefering a piece of fruit over the junk now and I think once elimated, they will adjust and even grow to prefer the fruit as a snack.

Putting sweets and junk in front of an formally obese and overweight person is like putting it in front of a drug junkie. Willpower my butt. There's NO such thing. Ones family can choose what is more imoportant? having their daddy around and healthy or keeping the junk and possibly losing their father at an early age because PEOPLE ARE KILLING THEMSELVES WITH JUNK FOOD. It's as simple as that IMO. Junk is KILLING my Mother as we speak.

Just a quick hello. Thanks for everyone's encouragement on the 3-day walk. I still am not sure. My mother-in-law is moving in with us this next week. Then in the next month and a half I have to find another place to live and move everyone. I just feel so much time constraints. What really makes me nervous is adding more to my plate (I would have to raise $4,400...because my husband would need the help). The training: But that would be fantastic for my physical and mental health. I know it sounds like I am making a lot of excuses. I am still praying about it. I would like to do it for several reasons. My mom was a breast cancer survivor (and cervical cancer survivor), and my mother-n-law is a two time survivor. She just went through her last chemo treatment 2 weeks ago. She is having surgery to remove the tumor next week, so please keep her in your prayers.

The other reason: The physical and mental benefits.

3rd reason: I would love to do something with my husband like this.

Thanks again for the support, and I'll let you know. If I don't do this this year, maybe another year.

Another option for me: I would love to get my entire family involved. So any ideas. Train to walk a certain amount of time on the Appalacian Trail (or something else)???? Any thoughts? Does anyone know if the trail could take a jogging stroller that is all terrain?

Hi all~
I just wanted to pop in real quick. The boys finally went back to school this morning so I'm in between workouts. I just did Leslie's Heart Heathy walk on her site and now I'm heading downstairs for a workout with Bob, doing TBL cardio max. I'm sorry I've not been logging all my workout time in the vacation thread, I've been getting 60-90 minutes a day, let me know how far back I can go and I'll log it in. I'll come back here in a bit and log in today's workouts. I did a mini bootcamp on the Leslie site and did 22 miles Fri - Monday, plus some pushups and ab work. That's why I was just sooo bummed at my weight gain this week. I don't get it. Okay I just need to move on from that and just keep working out and staying OP!
I'll be back later to get personal.

Good morning ladies~ Just popping in for a quickie right now I have a busy day ahead of me. I have to clean today and finish taking down my Valentine decorations, and then I have to workout. I made the gym yesterday...YAY! I walked for 1 hr on the treadmill with intervals of incline. It felt like a good workout when I was done. I didn't want to push too hard yet though since I'm still coughing. So day 1 of the gym done. Today though is strength training at home. I'll do that once I get the kids on the bus. I've made dinner already for tonight since I won't be home. Tomorrow morning Kyle's teacher is coming for a home visit, so I need to make sure the house is in somewhat of order Tonight is my meeting. I'm not nervous yet, but I'm sure by the time this evening rolls around I will be. I'm ready to get the first meeting over with though. Food was good yesterday and exercise got done, but water could of been better. Will work on that today. Okay I'm off to get the little ones ready. I'll try to get back later for personals, but if I don't keep up the good work this week ladies Have a great day~

Hi Everybody,

I have not been eating on plan today but maybe it is not too late to make up for it at dinner. I don't know; the self control was just not there. Darn. I did make the gym yesterday for body sculpting with the lunge/squat crazy lady. I was late because of work so that got me out of a few of those squats!

I have had kind of a long week already because I was having trouble with panic attacks. This is not a brand new problem for me but it has not happened for a long time. I finally went to the doctor yesterday and he straightened me out. Among other things, I am going to give up using the heart rate monitor since I was getting too worried about the number when I was exercising. I am glad he helped me put things in perspective.

Hun E B-My daughter will be gone until Saturday. I just talked to her on the phone and she is having a great time.

Tina-Hope you meet lots of nice people at the OA meeting.

Cathy-You have been working hard girl! The scale is going to catch up soon enough. In the meanwhile, enjoy the accomplishment of sticking to your plans.

IdealMuse-That is cool about the triathalon. A woman I know at the Y recently got involved in Triathalons and the weight just melted off. Plus she loves it! What is a sprint distance?

Sara-I am sorry about your losses. Glad to here you are back in the game.

On a final note, I agree with the thought that the house does not need any junk food. About the only thing left in my house are the chips and cookies for my daughters lunch but I feel guilty about it. (Plus I have a hard time staying away from the cookies) She doesn't have a weight problem but it is bad food just the same. To tell the truth, I would never feed that stuff to my dogs but I buy it for my daughter who I adore! I should probably talk to her about it.

Good afternoon ladies,

Well I just did a 35 min lower body sculpting video. Haven't done that in years. I forgot how much I had squats and lunges. LOL. But I'vae got 35 min in, I sweat my butt off and also did abs with it as well! I'll make it to the gym tonight after DS's soccer game if I don't get my car back early enough. It's STILL not ready ! UGH!!

I missed the first hour of TBL and worked out for the second half of it! So I did'nt see what happened at home with them all. But when it comes down to junk food I think he did what he had to do, and he was OBVIOUSLY successful. It's a tricky subject for me because my son is very skinny and is very athletic. I figure, he doesn't have to have all of his snacks removed, but at the same time, he is a really good eater. He loves salad, he eats it for snacks sometimes AND at dinner. When there is fruit readily available he eats it. He loves black berries, strawberries and we have watermelon cut up on the fridge and he loves that too. But he likes a oreo cake sometimes too and he is a fruit roll up junky....those roll ups and gushers. He can eat 2-3 packs at a time. So I hide them in my mom's closet and give it to him when he asks. But if their not in the cabinet, sometimes he forgets their there. LOL. I'm not worried about him because he has decent eating habits, but he can get a sweet tooth from time to time, as long as it is in moderation, i'm not going to get rid of it all and deprive him of it! It's not good to eat too much of it, but once in a while is okay. I don't want to make him paranoid at 11 years old! His father is 37 years old and doesn't have an ounce of fat on his body....when he eats it's usually something quick, a hostess apple pie or twinkie or fast food. That is sooo unfair, but I know that DS has a body and a metabolism JUST like his father, so he already has his father beat in the health factor because he eats soooo much healthier than his dad does!

Sara: Sorry for your losses! That can be rough on the stress, sadness and eating so i'm glad you noticed and jumped back on track!

Terapet: I feel the same way as you about those darn lunges and squats. OUCH!! LOL. Sorry your eating isn't on track today but you can totally salvage the rest of your day and do some damage control by working out. Great job on getting a good workout in yesterday!

Tina: Good luck at your meeting tonight! Great job getting in some good exercising! HAve a great day!

cats: Don't be too discouraged about the gain. You are really doing well with your exercise and that could be the reason for the gain. Lactic acid, muslce mass, etc. So keep up the good work and next week you'll have a great loss!

Mom: The walk sounds fantastic! I, myself, am a cancer survivor, diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2006. I had two surgeries to remove my thryoid gland and i'm cancer free today. I partake in the Relay For Life in Springfield, MA. My school has a team and we get out there and walk as much as we can around the track for 24 hours it is a great, inspirational and healthy night. I can't wait for it, this year it's May 30th. Just do what you can and don't stress out too much over it.

MElissa: Good luck on your exam!

Okay, I have to run. My car is finished and I can go pick it up! YAY!!!

Good Afternoon ladies!! Ugh, I'm exhausted already and its only 1pm! Exam was easy shmeasy, I'm so glad that I didnt spend too much time on it. Last night I had parent council for my older daughters school (its like a PTA only not) and OMG I thought I was gonna get beaten up! One lady seriously was trying to burn holes straight through me with her dagger looks. Funny how some people just dont like to be challenge and I infiltrated their little clique. Ah well! I need to find some time tonight to get my bootie to the gym! I miss it if you can believe that!

Anyone do the Last chance workout last night? I guess I should read through posts and do personals that that would answer my question huh?

I hope everyone is having a fantastic day!!
