Oh Deb...many moons ago I had lost 75 lbs and got to 178 and I was stuck there!! never did make it past there so I just KNOW you are going to show me how it is done!

Rennie....Way to go!!! excellent job on that workout!!

I did excellent today, my first day on WW. I'm right on with my points the online thing says 29.5 and I get 30, of course that doesnt count any activity points I get...but I dunno how you use those yet. Actually I think my points might be a little higher because I think I have more rice than it lists, but I know its less chicken so I suppose it evens out somehow. so, as soon as I find something worth watching on the boob I'm gonna get on my elliptical for 30 minutes...yes I'm actually gonna use that thing!! I hope everyone else had as good a day as me!

Hi Ladies! I hope you've all had a great day today. It's been fun reading all the bios. I'm so jazzed about having the red team as a support group. We can do this together!

I just got back from a 3 mile walk. I'm not feeling great today, but I still wanted to get moving since I spent most of the day laying around. My calories are way too low today because I have a sore throat. I may need to make a smoothie tonight to boost my calories.

Rennie-- Great job on the 3 mile video! That's a great achievement.

Melissa-- Way to go on your points!

Tina
-- It really feels great when you get a good workout! I'm glad you had a great day.

Barbara-- Yeah on heading out to the gym! I hope you have a great workout.

Muse-- Congrats on the 4 pound loss! I'm impressed by your journals. They're beautiful.

Cathy
-- Don't beat yourself up over the gain. 0.4 lbs. is very little. You'll lose it in no time.

CountingDown 01-14-2008 09:22 PM

I just got back from the gym too! I feel good that I haven't dropped the ball on day 1. Getting started is always tough for me. Last week I didn't finish the week out strong, so today was just like starting again.

Nice to see you are getting yourself back on track. It is hard when for some reason we can't keep to our routine. I find the same thing. I had a good day. Ate what I had planned, did two walking/aerobic videos and about 40 Min's of resistance training. Was harder than usual since I have had to baby a pulled hamstring for awhile. Felt good getting back to normal if not tiering.

Utah
Nice going with the gym. I think routine is great. Some people say it means you are getting old lol. I guess I have been getting as old as long as I can remember. I always have things planned. You just keep on track and I bet your weigh in will be great.

Cats
I haven't done power sculpt. That sounds very hard. I have to do the same thing with eating.. 1/2 a small banana, 1/2 serving frozen low fat strawberry yogurt and 1/2 serving light vanilla ice cream add 1 cup 2% milk. What a great yummy and fills in that dairy group that I have a hard time filling. I tend to have this most nights. I don't even consider it a snack. It is just part of the required amounts of the four basic food groups for me lol. I did check with the dietitian/nutritionist and she said that it was fine, she thought it was a great way to add carbs and fat and a fruit and come up with something that isn't to bad for me . It is pretty low in fat and carbs for filling part of a fruit and the diary group. I plan it, it fits in to the calories, carbs and fat I allow myself. I am having a very hard time getting my fat up. She wants me at 23% to 25%. I am around 20 to 21% most of the time. Driving me crazy. I just don't eat that much stuff with fat in it.

Sugar ( Danielle )
I sure hope you get some sleep tonight. I live in a house so don't have neighbors close enough to bother me. I don't know how you deal with it. Thank you about my workout. I am still smiling.

Oh my gosh that little green guy made me smile. So darn cute.

I think if people want to be called something besides their screen name, if it matters. They should put what they want to be called under their screen name. I will never remember what people want to be called. Just an idea.

Counting
I have so many of Leslie's videos, I have a different one for each day and then some. I have a Pilate's one but it looks hard. I have watched it. Not sure I could get my body to do that without an ambulance waiting in case of an accident lol. Do you do any yoga. I know Leslie has one, I thought about getting that. I thought maybe the stretching might help me not pull hamstrings again and might help the knees too.

jlbake
I sure hope you start to feel better. Sore throats are the worst. I know it is hard to eat but maybe milk and low fat ice cream or frozen yogurt and some fruit. The cold might make the throat feel better and at least you will get a bit of calories, fat and carbs in. The body does need them even if we aren't doing much because we don't feel good. Nice going on the walk. I can't wait for good weather so I can go to the school track and walk, steal one of my kids i pods and put a book on it lol. Is a good thought but not sure I will do it. Think I get more out of my walking/aerobic videos. What do you think?

Hun
Nice going staying within your points. I am not really sure how that works but sounds like you did really good. I love to exercise while watching tv.

floann 01-15-2008 12:23 AM

Hello everyone, I'm floann. I registered awhile back but fairly new to a challenge. I tried one challenge before Thanksgiving, but didn't do so well, so I am putting all my effort into this one. I took my pictures, but still have to read how to post them.

I am so embarassed, but I guess that is why we are all here. Go Big Red.:ebike:

jelynn 01-15-2008 12:57 AM

1. What do you prefer we call you? Emily

2. What weightloss plan are you using? I'm really just trying to be smart. Portion control, whole foods, exercise!

3. What is your favorite exercise? I really love running when I'm in shape. I'm doing the Couch to 5K program (again) currently and am on week 2!

4. What is one area that you struggle? I seem to have an addiction to fast food, donuts, chocolate bars etc. that gets worse when my life gets stressed or even too busy. I'm really trying hard to overcome some bad habits.

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? I *know* I can do it- if I just do it.

6. What is your short term goal? To be able to run 30 minutes and get below 200 lbs.

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? New running shoes and workout clothes!

8. Best weight loss tip? You can be as motivated as can be, but without commitment you will not have success.

9. Bob or Jillian? I really love them both- but have a soft spot for Bob.

10. Tell us about yourself! I'm 38- sahm (who is hardly ever home, lol) to 4 kids. 3 boys: 9, 7 and 4 and a 3 year old girl. I love to read, and am an internet junkie- I could read blogs , message boards and facebook all day! I also love to cook- I work part time in the evenings cleaning a couple office buildings so get tons of exercise that way. I really need to change the way I eat and think about food.

Nicoyaangel 01-15-2008 06:04 AM

First off let me start by saying I had one (I say one because there will be many more) of the best workouts in my workout history. Not only did I do 128 minutes but I also burned 1158.2 calories. I think the most I burned was like a thousand and something. LOL With numbers like that I think I will miss Law and Order tomorrow and hit the gym. My bf had a great workout too. I refused to leave after he said he was ready so to keep entertained for 30 min he did a more weights.

I have sooo much going in my life right now and again with my having to move and my taxes and now family drama but I am going to keep burning calories like nothing.

So, what is the read team up too?? lol Maybe I should post the about me now, huh?

Let do a little get to know our Red team shall we:

1. What do you prefer we call you? Mally or Nicoya

2. What weightloss plan are you using? counting calories

3. What is your favorite exercise? The cardio machines

4. What is one area that you struggle? Eating right ... I struggle but I try my best

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? When I finally get to the gym I make myself comfortable and not leave until I am satisfied

6. What is your short term goal? for TBL oh about 15lbs would be nice. Would sure put me a lot closer to ONEderland

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? A small outing with my bf. I am saving my money for when I make my big goal

8. Best weight loss tip? Stick to it ... and if you fall off get right back on

9. Bob or Jillian? Thats hard because they both are good

10. Tell us about yourself! I am 24 years old and I live in the bay area. Looking to move into an apartment with my boyfriend. Finally here to focus on this weighloss no matter what comes my way. Feb. 22nd I go to my dr. to start talking about what I can do to TTC. So I am hoping by then I have lost a good amount of weight. We want kids and without this weightloss it couldnt really be possible.

Sugar-N-Spice 01-15-2008 07:31 AM

Good Morning RED!

On my way to work but wanted to stop in and wish you all a beautiful day! :) Stay strong, stay positive, & remember your goals! You CAN do this!!!

Okay, I'm outtie!

♥danielle

bella mia 01-15-2008 07:32 AM

1. What do you prefer we call you? Sara

2. What weightloss plan are you using? LA Weight Loss

3. What is your favorite exercise? Don’t have a favorite so to speak but I do enjoy the elliptical, recumbent. bike & treadmill and walking. Would love to be able to go to exercise classes.

4. What is one area that you struggle? Exercise…finding the time…I know its an excuse, it really is and the funny thing is I love to exercise when I’m doing it. I love the way I feel after it’s just getting to it. I know that sounds crazy but it’s the truth. I either wake up at 5:00am (which I used to) or figure out when to fit it in at night, but than I feel like I am taking away my time with the family. I would prefer to do it in the morning as I think evenings will be difficult and things always come up.

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? I am very dedicated and tend to stick to a plan by the book. My problem is I feel guilty eating foods that I am allowed, such as a ff pudding or an LA biscotti as I feel like I am cheating, even if its on plan….isn’t that crazy.

6. What is your short term goal? My short term goal is to loose 10 lbs and to be successful in this round of the biggest loser on line.

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? Hmmm…not sure yet. Will need to think about it….although losing the weight is a huge reward in itself!

8. Best weight loss tip? Be honest with yourself and weigh and measure everything. Drink water…it does fill you up!

9. Bob or Jillian? Jillian…I would love to train with her…yeah she wouldn’t take my exercise excuses very lightly…she would tell me to get my fat *** up at 5:00am and give it all I got!

10. Tell us about yourself! I’m 37, and have been happily married for the last 18 ½ years. I have two wonderful, beautiful kids…Stephanie 15 and Anthony 13. My hubby is great and loves me regardless of what weight I am, and I guess in a lot of ways even though that is amazing it also hasn’t helped my weight issues. All three of them are great and stand behind me 100%, although they think I am too strict and should live a little as I am “too by the book”. I joined LA Weight Loss last January at 220 lbs and did awesome until July where I reached 173 and than when to Punta Cana for a week and decided I needed to let go and totally went off plan causing me to get to 178 lbs. When I got back it took me two weeks to get back to 173 lbs….but than I plateaued and stayed at the same weight until the beginning of December where I started to get depressed and let myself go a little…I put my membership on hold for a month….well that caused me to get to 183 lbs! Yikes. So went back on plan January 7th and have been very faithful and have lost 3 lbs so far. It’s just always such a struggle! I don’t mind eating this way, I actually prefer it as I am a very healthy eater I just want to see results…okay, enough said…I could go on forever…sorry I know I should keep this short and sweet…I’ll stop now.

Have a great day everyone!

spidermonkey78 01-15-2008 09:14 AM

Good morning everyone! I hope you all have a great day and stay on track. I am thinking of putting a big red team member banner on my fridge and pantry door to remind me of this extra motivation during times of weakness.

Oh we posted at the same time!! Good Morning Andi!!! I hope training is going well! Stockbroker...wow!!

Hun.e.B 01-15-2008 09:56 AM

Keep those surveys coming Red team!!! I'd be nice if our whole team could do it so we all know who we are competing with!

Question of the Day:
If your fairy god mother visited you tonight and told you that she could instantly transform you into your dream body composition but as a result you could NEVER eat your favorite food again if you did it would turn you back to your composition right now
and you would lose all your hair, Would you do it? And what is your favorite food?

Scenestealer 01-15-2008 10:03 AM

Laurie - hooray for another calorie counter on the red team! Let's share recipes/meal plans and keep each other on track. Also, what are your favorite aerobic dance DVDs? I love aerobics but haven't found any good DVDs yet. Also, Mindless Eating is honestly one of my favorite books, so it's fun to find another fan.

Deb - what kind of dancing do you do? Also, I love the designer purse as a reward idea, and might copy it. See, you ladies are giving me great ideas already! I'm also a single workaholic who loves to cook - what are some of your favorite gadgets? I might need to fill my tiny Manhattan apartment kitchen with a few more things to drive my roommates crazy! :)

Tamicka - yay 20 somethings! I actually haven't ventured into that forum too much, but I really should. Also, I was born and raised in Albany (Guilderland, actually) - just moved to NYC this year.

Danielle - I also love the workout clothes goal, because it would reward me while also making me want to keep up with my exercise! Definitely a good one. And you should definitely check out Mindless Eating - it's phenomenal!

Cathy and Rennie - do either of you ladies know any good low-cal brands of yogurt, but ones that AREN'T filled with artificial sweeteners? Plain is fine, because I can always mix fruit in, but I haven't found anything really low enough to make it easy to incorporate into my calorie counting plan. Especially since I have a hard time eating just one serving of yogurt - I find that it's not very filling.

Floann - I haven't even gotten around to taking my pics yet, so you're one up on me! :)

Emily - I am ALL over the fitness blogs. If you haven't already, check out fitsugar.com, which is updated pretty frequently and helps with the "reading all day" thing :)

Mally - wow, what an intense workout! What were you doing for 2 hours? I think the longest I've ever done is a 105 minute run.

Sara - I definitely get the guilt thing... even when I save calories for a treat, I still feel guilty eating it! Gotta get over that so I don't beat myself up all the time...

Andi - I'm not in finance, but consulting, so I do a lot of traveling and business meals like I'm sure you do as well. Any tips for handling those without going off-plan? That's one of my biggest struggles!

Melissa - I love the "is it worth giving up your goals" idea, but I'm afraid my roommates might think I'm crazy :) We'll see if I can get up the nerve to do that.

I'll have to think about the question of the day thing a bit more... not really sure what my favorite food is, as I tend to eat a variety. So maybe I could give up one!

newme4me 01-15-2008 10:51 AM

This is the first time for me to join a weight loss team,

I would not take the wish cause I would never want to give Chinese food (which is my most favorite food in the whole world) and I can have the body that I want if I stop being lazy and just fight for it. I would probably appreciate it better when I earn a beautiful body instead of just having it given to me without any work! :D

newme4me 01-15-2008 11:05 AM

I love Hamburgers, i do not think i could go the rest of my life without never being able to eat a hamburger again, but i would need to think about for a while,
Eating Hambugers, virus's never dieting again, WOW!!! what a choice,

Tina30 01-15-2008 11:10 AM

Good morning ladies~ Just popping in to say Hi. Today I'm not going to be home much so I won't be back till tomorrow morning. I'll be the one in back yelping the whole movie:) I plan on having another great day and although I won't make the gym today I'll do something at home even if it's just for 1/2 hour. Have a great Tuesday ladies~

OptimistK 01-15-2008 11:11 AM

Well my favorite food is seriously broccoli which isn't bad. I eat it everyday since I began my life change, I love it, but heck I could live without it. Sure gimme my dream body!!!

Mom23BC 01-15-2008 12:53 PM

Oh my! This is really a busy board. Well, I am on the Red Team. I wish everyone the best of luck.

Have a blessed day!

Cassie501107 01-15-2008 01:16 PM

Hi team! I still can't believe how fast this thread is moving! I love it, I just feel bad because it's so hard for me to keep up, lol. Classes started back up yesterday, and it's going to be quite a busy semester for me. No matter though, I'll find a way to keep up in here. ;)

Today is my weigh in day, and I'm a bit confused...I'm down 4.5 lbs this week, but only .5lbs since I recorded my starting weight for this challenge...so is my first weigh in for this challenge NEXT Tuesday?

Cassie, try the FAQ thread. I was kind of confused about the same thing, but since my weigh-in day is Monday, I'm going to do it then and post that night. If you're a Tuesday girl, you'll prob use today's, but you can check with the ladies over at the FAQ to answer your question. Where do you go to school and what's your major? I hope you have some fun classes this semester! I just graduated from Cornell last year, and the college lifestyle makes it SO difficult to lose weight! Unfortunately, as a recent graduate it doesn't seem to get any easier. My days are now completely packed with work, and my friends still want to go out and drink and eat junk at night, so I think it's almost harder. More and more I'm discovering that in order to get in shape, you REALLY have to make it a priority. My friends/coworkers all tease me (good-naturedly) about my healthy cooking/workouts, but it's all worth it when they then come to me asking for tips because they see I'm losing and they want to learn how. Unfortunately, most of them don't really like my recommendations ("no, you really can't just get anything you want from Chinese takeout, and you probably shouldn't drink 10 beers in a night either"). I'm so glad I have a community like this where we're all in it together to make the right choices!

Donna, I have a swimming question for you. I've tried to get into swimming (two summers ago I did laps almost every day!), but I get really bored. What are your favorite strokes? How do you mix it up and entertain yourself as you go? The best trick I've heard so far is actually a lap counting trick (I don't have a lap counter). Some swimming coach said that when his students count by letter, they never forget what letter they're on like they forget what number they're on. So I made it into a game for myself: I come up with a category (like animals, types of food, cities/countries, etc), then for each lap I try to think of things in that category that start with the letter I'm on. It's worked for a while, but I think I'm even getting bored with that now! Do you have any tricks? I just find it too boring to swim back and forth for an hour with just with my own thoughts in my head :)

Melissa - thank you!! That really brought a tear to my eye. No one has ever called me that since I was always the one sitting on the couch watching everyone else work out. hehe Thanks.

Scene - Oh I did the treadmil when I first got there and that was 45 minutes I usually do an hour or 500 calories, whichever one comes first. That was cut short because I had called my friend to come over to the gym and I met her outside so then we got on the elliptical for another 50 min and then I got back on the treadmil with her for another 33 min. Oh how I enjoy burning those calories!!

I couldn't take the challenge, I need chocolate one week every month to get by ;) Of course I pay for it by having to work out, but that's what life change is about right? Can still eat your favorite food, but maybe just not as much or as often. I am loving me Hershey's 100 Calorie candy bars!

good morning ladies! Well almost afternoon here. This board sure is busy. I don't have time for all the personals today, afraid I would miss someone. I have other little ones that I watch all day, and with them and my 19 month old, I seem to keep busy. Just need to figure out when I have time to add in a workout. Can't use my tredmill with all the little ones around. I think I need to start getting up at 5am and use it. I can't wait for it to warm up and the snow to melt so that little man and I can go for walks in the morning. I did good staying within my points yesterday, 4 days in row! And I drank so much water....that's usually my downfall. So it was a great day!

The question of the day: No I wouldn't do it. I would much rather lose the weight myself and earn it. It would be much more rewarding. Why give up something you love to get something that you could get anyway with a little hard work.

Well I hope everyone has a great day!! skinnyvibes to you all! I'll check back in a bit.

Andi - I'm not in finance, but consulting, so I do a lot of traveling and business meals like I'm sure you do as well. Any tips for handling those without going off-plan? That's one of my biggest struggles!

I plan my day out in the morning or night before and stick to that. I bring my lunch and snacks in a little cooler and make sure to put an ice pack in it to make sure everything stays cool throughout the day, that way I can bring my roast beef wrap or turkey sandwhich, whatever I chose for the day. I also bring my 1/2 gallon jug of water that is halfway frozen the night before so I can sip on that throughout the day. I don't do many business meals as I am a stock broker for an online brokerage company. I sit behind a computer all day! ;) but that is how i stick to being OP.

Hello everyone! I was able to get my water in yesterday and I'm on track to get quite a bit in today. I got up this morning to exercise, and it really makes a difference. I have been getting some exercise dvd's from Netflix to try out before I buy because I've bought so many that weren't quite what I was expecting. The most recent one that I LOVE is WATP Walk & Kick. I ordered it through Amazon so that I could do it anytime that I want. Well, my package came yesterday and I was so excited! I opened the package and guess what?....it was the wrong dvd. I was so disappointed. I tried the video they sent to see if it was one I wanted to keep since it was so inexpensive and returning things can really be a pain. It was okay. The jury's still out on whether I want to try to return it or order the one I want somewhere else!

I’d have to agree with Kari and Barbara – I think getting my preferred body composition without all of the hard work and modified habits wouldn’t be worth it. I would probably take it for granted, and would not be able to maintain. Then if you gain the weight back, do you have to give up another food? ;) As for my favorite food, I was wondering if your fairy god mother could tell if you were lying. I’d be tempted to tell her that my favorite food was broccoli :broc: (Kim – that was going to be my example before I read that it really is your favorite – wish I could overcome my dislike of it because it’s so healthy) and then I wouldn’t be tempted to “go bald”.

Nicoya – 128 minutes? You’re a rock star! That’s awesome! :woohoo:

Laurie – I’ve been seeing references to Mindless Eating. I may have to pick up a copy. Thanks!

Rennie – WAY TO GO on the 3 mile walk!! :cheer2:

Jaime – I know what you mean about struggling to get on an exercise routine. I always struggle with that but it seems the more I exercise, the easier it is to do it the next time!

Jen – I hope your throat gets to feeling better.

To everyone else – Hello and have a great on plan day!!
