Melissa, how did you like the DVD? It is one of my favorites!

Yellofly 01-17-2008 05:05 AM

So glad to hear you guys are doing well & staying on track! :) You should be VERY proud!

Cat -- Thanks for the tip about the MP3 player, I'm definitely looking into it because it seems so cool! I'm scouring ebay & amazon to try and get a good deal on one. :)

Laura -- When I'm doing laps, I like to do breaststroke the most. Lately, I've been doing aquafit classes though (2 times a week). No, I haven't gotten to try circus school yet, so I just can't wait. I wanted to try it after seeing the circus school people train actors when I was working on various film/tv/theatre things. By the way, I'm going to try your bananas in the freezer thing. Sounds like a great idea!

Danielle -- Thanks for the vote of confidence, it really helps. :)

Melissa -- Thanks for the kind words. I love your avatar, by the way. It's a really great message!!!

Jen -- So sorry you're feeling sick. Sounds like things are hectic for you right now, but you really made me laugh when I read that your daughter "exploded girl scout cookies" all over your sister's house. LOL. Here's hoping you guys all get better ASAP! As for the skydiving, yikes, glad to hear your brother is okay after his close call. Indoor skydiving is cool because you're essentially just flying in a giant vertical wind tunnel. You are not dropped out of anything, you just float around in there, starting from a standing position, from what I understand. Apparently, competitive sky dive teams use these wind tunnels to practice their routines.

Thanks for the lovely messages, everyone! :)

-Yello.

Oh please don't tell me the cut-off was the 11th. I registered our website on the 12th.

Scenestealer 01-17-2008 06:58 AM

Jen - thanks, that's a little better than what I've found. I'll pick some up next time I decide to brave the 45 minute lines at Trader Joe's (I usually go once every 2 weeks or so). Also, feel better soon!!!

Melissa - welcome! I used to do musical theater and acted in some professional shows when I was a child. I went to NYU for theater in my freshman year of college, but then decided I didn't want to do it as a career, so I transferred and did business. What are your favorite musicals? And what is your favorite part/show you've done? Also, your kid sounds great - I could use some motivation like that! :)

Andi18 01-17-2008 06:59 AM

I am finally done training so should be able to keep up with this place now!! Now I am back to my regular job of helping branch reps out and NOT doing stock trades like I just trained for :dizzy:

My workouts haven't been on par like I have wanted them to be. I bought a new sports bra and workout shirt but have not actually made it to a gym to use them. I have worked out at home, but that's not getting to show off my new duds! Hopefully by Sunday I will have joined a gym...that is a poll question of I have on my million-pound match up space...which gym should I join? The YMCA where it is cheaper and I can work out with 2 former TBL contestants or 24 Hour Fitness where it is closer, one of my friends is a member there, and I can still work out with the 2 former TBL contestants at the Y but pay a higher price

bella mia 01-17-2008 07:43 AM

Good morning everyone!

Just wanted to pop in and say hello to everybody before I hed into work. I am going in to weigh in at lunch today so I hope it's good...fingers & toes crossed! Well unfortunately as much as I try I am not able to log in from work as mch as I would love too (I'll try to sneak in there once in a while) but I just wanted to say I love our team ...so inspiry & chatty....you all motivate me more than you can imagine. Now if I could only get my butt in gear and start exercising....oh why, why do I procasinate! THe thing is I love to exercise, its just trying to find the time. If I really wanted to I guess I could wake uo at 5:00am and do it than...yes I will tomorrow morning. Please wish me luck! What I need is Jillian screaming in my ear! Yikes! Anyway, I am sorry I can't do personals...but like I said thank you , you are all so wonderful. Have a great day....will try to check in later! Ciao!

Debalicious 01-17-2008 08:51 AM

Good Morning Red Team! Hope everyone is having a great week :)

Got on the scale this morning to take a peek and to my dismay I was up! How can this be? I have stuck to my 24 points, I have gone to the gym and done my Jillian workouts to the T. I just don't understand. Anyway, I'll keep moving along, hopefully the scale will down for my Saturday morning WW weigh-in.

On a positive note, I am really enjoying Jillian's Winning by Losing workouts. I have never sweat and kept my HR up as much as this with any of my other weight training programs.

That's all for now - hope everyone has a wonderful OP day!

Deb

Scenestealer 01-17-2008 09:16 AM

Andi, that's so neat that you might get to work out with TBL contestants! Which ones and how does that work?

Hun.e.B 01-17-2008 09:35 AM

Jen....I hope your little one is feeling better today! I've got an 8 year old too, she's my baby. I think we need to put your whole family in a bubble and get you all well! LOL!

Optimist....what is Gigantour?? LOL

Melissa73...wow I'm shocked at how close we are in many different areas. I'm a WW too! Its so great to see you here I hope you are going to post more often!! Your son is so funny! Good for him for encouraging momma!

Yello...good morning!!

Andi...i could be wrong!! If they still let you register than maybe I am. do you wanna share your site?

Sara....have a great day today!! Good luck with that weighin!! Make sure you come share the good news with us!

Deb...that stupid machine! Who knows why it does what it does, but you know that you are doing what you should be so do not get discouraged. Could be maybe youre body is catching up, could be you are building lean muscle tissue which is a good thing. Maybe its something salty. Just remember...just a number on a stupid machine!! You are doing a fantastic job!! Keep it up!! Are you taking measurements?

Time to wake up the munchkin!

Hun.e.B 01-17-2008 09:40 AM

I had another day right on with points! No exercise again darn it but I have set my goal of doing it twice before the week ends. Plus last night was my last night of having to read 2+ chapters. I've got my final tomorrow though but I can workout and study, cant workout and read.

Today is going to be another great day I can feel it!! Be good to yourself everyone! Just a little early reminder Weigh in for Week 1 is due by 11:59 EST Monday!! Do not forget to post up your weights! Dont want to start off with a freebie right out of the gate!

Okay time to get my oatmeal and get everyone rolling...its 14 degrees right now, makes it tough to get out of bed LOL!! "see" you this afternoon Red team!!

Hun.e.B 01-17-2008 09:42 AM

Question of the Day....since yesterday was heavy I'll keep today light! If you got a choice between a personal trainer or a personal chef for your entire weightloss journey. Which would you choose (they would be free of course)?

Hun.e.B 01-17-2008 09:44 AM

well Andi, consulting what I've learned in my behavior modification class I'm currently taking LOL.....I'd say go with 24 hour fitness..its closer and you've got a friend to go with which will up your chances of going LOL!

I really love when i can apply what I've learned to real world! Yes I'm a big nerd!

Okay, I will jump right in. I am going to say the personal trainer. At first I was going to say the chef, because loosing weight is ??at least 80% diet. However, I decided the personal trainer because I know what my body needs to loose weight, if I stick with it. The personal trainer would help me to get in great shape and start better habits.

Have a great day!

Oh, and to answer today's question, hmmm, this is a toughie. I'm constantly: changing my cardio interval training routine every 4-6 weeks, reading new material, asking questions here, adding new weight resistance workouts and chaning my resistance training routine also every 4-6 weeks, taking a few training sessions with a trainer all to give myself a challenge. If I'm not exhausted after running, sore after resistance training, and dripping in sweat after both cardio and resistance training, I'm usually disappointed and I feel I havent' challenged myself. I think I've got the whole exercise thing down; I'd like to become a trainer myself after I'm done with my journey.

So to simply answer the question, I'd take the personal chef because I kick my own :censored: in the gym.

Scenestealer 01-17-2008 10:57 AM

OptimistK, I seem to be the opposite of you. I would definitely pick the trainer, because I don't think I work hard enough in the gym, but I love to cook and am great at low-cal meal planning. I would never get a personal chef because I'd miss cooking myself! Maybe we can combine the two of us and get perfect dieters... :)

Tina30 01-17-2008 10:57 AM

Good morning ladies~ Wow, I’ve been going back to bed after getting Joey off to school, and I have to say although the sleep feels good waking at 9:30 isn’t going to work much longer!LOL! It is so dark and gloomy here today though that it didn’t even feel that late. Yesterday was just a day of uneventful events...that is the best way to describe my day. I did make the gym though for an hour on the precore and read for a bit last night. I have so many shows on my tivo that I’m dying to watch, and just haven’t had the time. This afternoon I’m going to help in Madison’s class, and while I’m there I’m having a little chat with the principal. Madison has been having trouble with a kid on her bus. This little butthole is spitting at her, pulling her hair, and telling her he is going to kill her. I talked to the bus driver yesterday, but she just said I’ll keep an eye on it. I don’t want to get the bus driver in trouble, but I want Madison’s seat moved and I want the kid to recieve some sort of warning or something. I mean spitting in someones face is unexecptable to me, and pulling her hair. Nope not my little girl. Kyle has also told me this kid picks on him, so he must be a real doosy! So that should be interesting. Today I’m going to the gym again, and finishing up some laundry hopefully before I head off to the kids school. Tonight I pray I get some quiet time while Kev is at the gym to watch at least 1 show. Well I better get moving over here. Have a great day ladies~

Scenestealer 01-17-2008 10:58 AM

Tina, that other kid sounds like such a terror! Hope everything works out for your daughter.

Tina30 01-17-2008 10:59 AM

Oh I would say a personal chef all the way. My reason being that I don't really have a big problem motivating myself to exercise, but when it comes to eating well that is a different story. I just think to have my meals prepared and there that is what it is would be so cool:) Cool question;)

Andi18 01-17-2008 11:15 AM

Amy & Marty from Season 3 live in the same town I do. They put on a bootcamp 2 days a week, during the winter months it is indoors at the YMCA and it's outdoors during the summer months.

Tina30 01-17-2008 11:23 AM

Thanks Laura...I'm not going to sit around while this kid acts like a little brat...I sometimes wonder what these parents are like. I mean I don't ever claim that my kids are perfect, but I know for a fact they would never spit in someones face...that is just gross, and especially in this day and age. If things don't get taken care of though I guess I will just start driving them to school. I would feel bad because they both really enjoy riding the bus, but I won't deal with that and neither will my kids.

Tina30 01-17-2008 11:25 AM

Aren't Marty and Amy married or engaged? They both looked awesome at the finale, have they been able to keep the weight off? That is just so cool, it's like working out with a celeb.

Stinkin brat! IMHO, that bus driver needs to be reprimanded. He should have already been suspended from the bus! Hope everything goes well and Madison can start enjoying her bus rides. Our babies shouldn't have to put up with this crapola!

Oh my, Dave Mustane!! I had a whole bedroom wall dedicated to him back in the day. We were hanging out in our seats waiting for the crowds to disperse and he came back out on the stage and just walked up to the front and sat down, well we beelined it and I just stood next him, listening to him talk and was just in awe. This was back in the 80's at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas. Thanks OptimistK, that brought back a really good memory.

I would opt for the personal trainer.

I'm shocked that the busdriver didn't so something about that, that's part of their job, to keep order on the bus. Hope your principal does something. I dunno though, maybe if Madison gave him a good right hook..... ;) Let us know how it goes (((Tina))).

LOL Love it! I think that is what I have decided on! 24 Hour Fitness it is! LOL That was the same advice my mom gave me!!

spidermonkey78 01-17-2008 01:12 PM

Tina - that is so stressful when someone is picking on/hurting your kid. My daughter is in kinder and a little boy grabbed her arm the other day and dug his fingernails in. He actually broke the skin! I was so furious when she came home and showed me. The thing that really ticked me off was that she had a sub that day at school. They did not reprimand the little boy or even clean her arm! I wrote an e-mail to the teacher the next day and she is taking care of it. Turns out this is not his first incident. It is really sad to see your kids being treated in that way. If I were you I would make every move needed to make sure your little one is safe. Bullying is a scary thing.

spidermonkey78 01-17-2008 01:14 PM

Question of the day: I think that I would go with the personal chef. I do good keeping to my scheduled workouts and I have a pretty good amount of variety. What I need is some good ideas for low cal/low fat meals that are quick and easy to prepare. It just gets boring eating the same stuff all the time.

Yellofly 01-17-2008 01:23 PM

Hi all!

Sara, good luck with your weigh-in, but I'm sure you'll do great! :)

Deb, sorry the weigh-in wasn't fantastic, but those workouts sound killer! Congrats on getting through them!

Melissa, best of luck on the final. Sounds like you've got a ton of stuff going on! Good for you for staying on track with your points!

Tina, I'm so sorry about the situation on the bus. Kids can really be awful, especially when they can get away with the behaviour. Mega points to you for standing up for your child. You go, girl!

As for the trainer vs. chef, I'd pick the chef all the way! I can't be motivated by being yelled at. It SO doesn't work for me. When the trainer on TBL was shouting at bette-sue "are you going to die, bette-sue?" I was like whoa, back off. I would NOT have taken that. Doesn't work for me. I'm odd that way. :dizzy:

-Yello.

skinnyvibes 01-17-2008 01:23 PM

Good morning ladies! Well I was so busy yesterday, even though it was my "day off". I didn't have the time to get on here like I had wanted. You all were very busy yesterday though, that's for sure.
Today's question of the day: I would take the personal trainer. I do good with my food. When I want to of course...lol.

jlbake 01-17-2008 01:28 PM

Miss1982-- I always have a hard time getting to the gym . . . which is why I work out at home. ;) Congrats on the 20 pound loss! What a great achievement.

Nicole-- You've been doing so great with staying on plan.

Emily-- You are doing awesome! Doing the treadmill right after finishing work! :bravo:

Barbara & Tina-- You both have great exercise goals!

Laurie-- Don't feel guilty about not buying Girl Scout cookies at all! One of the things I like about our area is that the girls can sell "0" calorie cookies. Since we live close to a military base, supporting the troops is very big. We have a plan called "Operation Thin Mints." If people don't want to be tempted to eat the cookies, they can buy "0" calorie "Operation Thin Mints" and the cookies will be sent to our troops instead. I think it's a great idea for people who want to donate, but don't want cookies in return. I'm not sure if they offer that everywhere, but next time a Girl Scout knocks on your door, you can ask her about it.

Cassie, Laura, Nicoya, Cat, Cathy, Donna, Cathy in Canada, Karen, PurdueGal, Jaime, Muse, Kim, Mom23BC, Kari, Rennie, floann, DK, Tamicka, Debalicious, Cecilia, MSTeacher, Jasmine, buddha_belly-- I'm rooting for all of you!

Danielle-- I love your screen name!

Melissa73-- Your son is so cute. It's sweet that he's being so supportive. Just don't tell him I called him sweet. That's probably worse than death for an 11 year old boy.

Yello-- I'm glad my Girl Scout Cookie story made you laugh. I'm just doing my part to help everyone resist the temptation. About Indoor Skydiving--Once you described it, I remember seeing people do it on tv. I may have to look into that because it sounds like a lot of fun to me.

Sara-- It's so easy to procrastinate our exercise. So just do it! (Putting on my best Jillian voice) Get up and exercise! Are you gonna die if you work your butt off? Great! You'll be my first casualty. (Jillian voice off) (Gentle Bob voice) Come on, you can do it! Just think how great you'll feel when you're all done. (Bob voice off) Sara, Bob just hugged--you are sooooo lucky! :D

Deb-- Don't worry about the scale being up. Just focus on keeping your points spot on and doing your exercise! Jillian will whip you into shape in no time!

Hun.e.B.-- My family is definitely staying in a bubble today. I canceled the kids' art and music lessons for today so we won't infect anyone else. You are doing so great with your points. Try to exercise just a bit (like 15 minutes) just so you can say you did it. Once finals are over, I'm sure it will be easier to find time to exercise. Good luck on your finals!

Andi-- It think it's very cool that you have the opportunity to workout with Marty and Amy. I'm not sure which gym is better. I would probably go with 24 Hour Fitness because it's closer and you have a friend to help motivate you. But Marty and Amy would be pretty motivating too!

Tina-- I'm so sorry about your kids getting picked on on the bus. That's just awful. I hope the principal is willing to take care of it. Kids need to feel safe when they go to school.

To our lurking friends from other teams-- :grouphug: We miss you!

I would definitely pick a person chef. I don't like to cook so a chef would be wonderful. I would love gourmet, low calorie food. Yummy!

I'm teaching my oldest daughter to cook so she can help out with dinner too. But she's not always interested in healthy, low calorie meals. She's a super skinny 10 year old.

It's awesome. I am lucky enough to have a free one (one of the perks of being in the Army at this duty station in particular) and she is great. We do group training most of the time, so like 4-5 of us all doing the same things just with different weights and whatnot. No workout is the same. I am really enjoying it!

Yes Tina, they are engaged. They are getting married 2 days before my 5 yr anniversary. Oh and as far as the weight, yes, I believe they both have kept most of the weight off. I think they may have gained back a little but are healthy.

Well I already have the personal trainer, but if it was a choice I would take the personal chef because I suck at cooking and I think my food choices are screwing me up with my weight loss. I know I would go to cardio classes on my own w/o a trainer.

It's a toss up. I would like to do some resistance/strength training but don't exactly know where to start. I am not good at sticking with something unless I have someone there to keep me on track (my Zumba instructor, Leslie Sansone inside my tv, etc). On my own, I'd usually sit on the couch with my legs propped up eating bon bons. ;) (like Peg Bundy!)

One "excuse" I have told myself in the past (am trying to work on this) is that I spend so much time in the kitchen (after I get off of work from my second job) that I don't end up with time to exercise. I need to exercise before I eat, but when I wait to cook dinner until after I exercise, it's 9 pm before I get a chance to have dinner. A personal chef would be able to be cooking my meals while I am exercising. I am a picky eater so the personal chef would have to cook things that I can stomach eating (I'm veggie-challenged, but working on it).

I guess with all of that said, I would probably pick a personal trainer because I could use the knowledge and little extra push. Just not a mean push - not much for someone up in my face screaming.

Well, I'm in a little bit of a funk lately, so I'm not much up to personals. I'll try to make it back later. Like Deb, my scale is up again even when it feels like it shouldn't be. What's frustrating is that my measurements aren't down, but seem to be up too. Or that could be in my head. I always wonder if I sucked my gut in when I measured last time, etc....always second guessing myself. I'm going to spend the weekend re-evaluating my eating. I won't weigh in officially until tomorrow, but I'm afraid my numbers aren't going to be good for the team. :(

Take care everyone and I'll be reading! You all are GREAT and encouraging me and keeping me from totally giving up. Thanks!
