So glad I don't keep certain things in the house....if I had the components right now, I would make party mix which is solely responsible for my holiday weight gain.

FrouFrou 01-20-2008 01:00 AM

DIXIE...WTG on the pound! JOHN...WOOHOO ont he 9 pounds, that is awesome! :bravo: to you both!

Our youngest troupe member is 20 and our oldest (the teacher) is 56, I think. Different ages, different body types, and we all look good when we're dancing together. I've been dancing for a little over a year now, and I plan my work schedule around it. I think I can count the number of times I've missed class on one hand. And my belly just loves it!

Morning Bluesers!
Been a busy week with my daughter's bday but passed on all the pizza and cake and stuck with veggies.
Showing a 4 pound loss right now but will wait till tomorrow to post weight as I have a workout planned for this aft and healthy crockpot dinner ready to go.
Thanks for the motivation and support and cheers to everyone for a great week!

Purplefirefly 01-20-2008 10:28 AM

:woohoo: I DID IT!!!! I DID IT!!!!!:woohoo:

I was absolutely shocked to step on the scale this AM and see it down to 131.2! That is only a lb. from last week...BUT 131 is my 10% goal and I am there! I have lost 10% of my starting weight and have earned my first reward package :D I'm going right now to get the Biggest Loser Cookbook out of my closet (made myself wait until the reward was earned) and when my Jillian DVDs come in I can actually do them, instead of putting them up! I can't wait to shop for a pair of jeans and see what size fits me now :cp: I never thought I would make it this far, so I am proud of myself.

Now, I am close to 230 so I have hopes of 2 lb for tomorrow, but if not that is okay. I am just happy I reached this goal. Now...onward to 20%.

They are healthy and normal now but it just will never leave me, all those horrible things they have been through.

 It was three years ago this week that I lived at the hospital with my newborn. She seized 30 hours after birth, and I had to resuscitate her all the way to the hospital in a snow storm. I never left the NICU floor unless my DH was there, and I was spending time with our son in the lobby. It was horrible, and you are right....you NEVER get over it.

My week has been, well not good. But somehow Im down -3.2. YAY!

GirlyGirlSebas 01-20-2008 12:42 PM

Good morning, Bluesers! Actually, I just realized that it is a little after noon here. I slept in this morning until 11:00! Yikes!

First things first....Dee, John, Purple, Alana Jo…Congratulations on your losses! :carrot:
Purple, Congratulations on reaching your 10% lost goal!:broc:

Karen - So glad that Aiden's birthday party went well. Sorry to hear that the little guy fell. Hope he's feeling okay today.
Kelly - Great job on resisting that Double Chocolate Donut!
Krispie - So glad your daughter's birthday went well....and, great job with sticking to the veggies!

I wish I could say that I did as well as Kelly and Krispie with my temptations last night. The day started off nicely. I ate my oatmeal and coffee then we went shopping. While shopping, we stopped at Arby's and I passed on the fries and the yummy sandwiches and had a salad with a diet soda. I was feeling extremely proud of myself. I had planned on picking up a vegetable plate for the ladies get together last night, but I saw some spinach and artichoke dip that looked really good and I figured that somebody was sure to bring a veggie tray. Wrong! Nobody brought one. Instead there were all kinds of yummy dips, little pigs-in-a-blanket, mini-fruit pizzas, and...fudge! Oh my....I do love fudge. I brought diet rootbeer with me and I planned on eating only a tiny plate of food. By the end of the evening, I had been grazing the whole time. And, I had one margarita. The evening was so much fun, but I'm feeling very very guilty this morning. I didn’t even work out yesterday. These ladies nights are going to be monthly, so I now know that I have to plan ahead much better for the next one. As of right now, the scales are showing me right at my challenge weigh-in number. I've still lost for the week...I’m down 1.6 pounds so far. However, the 1.6 is the weight I gained between the time I gave my weight to Chellez and the start of the challenge. So, as far as the challenge goes, I may have maintained. I’ll hope for the best for my official weigh-in tomorrow morning.

Today, I will stay 100% on-plan. I have a full day of housecleaning and laundry, so I’ll be getting plenty of exercise. However, I still plan on getting on the treadmill for an hour today.

Hello. I just posted my weight from my WI yesterday morning. I only lost a pound but was actually expecting a gain after the week we had here with a sick child. She's taking antibiotics for her ear infection, feeling better, and finally keeping food down again so this week I will have time to prepare healthy meals and exercise so I'm hoping for a good loss next weekend.

Victoria Ayumi 01-20-2008 02:18 PM

I'm so happy!
I lost 2 pounds!
I'm almost back into the 180's. And my goal for this month is 187. 3 more pounds to go!!
Congrats everyone, and let's keep pushin!

Hey all! Glad to see some AMAZING losses this week, and to see so many people checking in! I'm (a little surprised that I'm) down a pound this week, which means 10lbs left for my challenge goal. :D

Hmm... 3 things I love about my body?
  1. My hands! They've always been a favourite for me - they're delicate but strong.
  2. My booty - it might be a little big, but I'm glad I have some junk in my trunk, and it's always been pretty... pert? Hahahaha
  3. My eyes - sometimes brown, sometimes green, sometimes hazel, and always the true measure of my emotions.

Have we had a question for today? I'd like to know what you all do to show your love for yourself and/or your body - do you shop? take baths? get spa treatments?

Shay 01-20-2008 04:30 PM

Without fail, every two weeks I go get a fill, (I don't have tips because my nails are long but I get acrylic overlay), pedicure, and wax. They laugh at me bc many times I fall asleep while I am there. It is so relaxing.

Also I have extremely dry skin, hair, lips. I'm just dry! So I spend a little extra to buy the products I need.

I drink my water and try to use as many natural products as possible. One of my goal rewards is a mani and pedi. They will be my first ever.

zinkemomx2 01-20-2008 05:49 PM

I terrified to weigh in tomorrow morning. I was up 3 pounds this morning and while I know a lot of it was sodium a lot of it wasn't. I'm hoping that just makes for a better week next week.

I have been trying really hard to find other things to do instead of snack. Earlier when I wanted something I grabbed the weights and did another go around of those. That was a good solution for today but now I don't know what to do for tomorrow if I am supposed to take a day off between strength training. Someone else always has control of our one tv and DH looked at me funny when I told him I was gonna go buy a second tv and dvd player for the office. I could try and do the treadmill but it is loud and the kids are always bothering me while I am on it. I suppose I can try and do my video from memory. It might not be quite as fast paced without watching her but at least it is movement, right?

Purplefirefly 01-20-2008 07:27 PM

Tonight was hubby's grandma's birthday and they decided everyone was going out to the fish fry...of course last minute, of course way too late to plan, and of course this is not a place where you can look it up online. The only thing on the entire menu not fried was grilled chicken so I ordered that, came with a salad but all other sides were fried :( so I got onion rings. The good thing is I still had 775 calories for today! I ate the chicken breasts (plain on the plate, no bread) and the salad, which was actually just a big bowl of lettuce, literally! Then I had 2 big onion rings and my stomach is not liking that! I haven't had anything greasy in a couple months, and I feel the rumblings that it is not liking it! They really didn't taste as good as I remember them anyway.

I know I did not go over calories and everything was on plan except the rings, so I should be okay at weigh in tomorrow. I just don't feel so great tonight, but will exercise anyway!

Zinkemom--are you talking about the walk away the pounds dvd? I do those movements and make up my own little walks...just get going marching at a good pace then start adding in the other moves. I aso walk circles around my house, helps a lot with not eating and bumps up the exercise minutes as well!

Peach--I hope you heal quickly...and yeah, it has to get better someday  Hang in there.

Victoria--:woohoo: Yay for 2 lbs!

mommyacacia--I love little surprise lbs...yay! I hope the little one recovers fully and you all get back to normal.

Rhonda--at least you know now what these nights will entail and can be ready next time. Make sure you bring healthy stuff, then get extra exercise that day, even the day before and after helps. You can overcome and make it work, I have faith in you! If you are doing calories how we talked before, you can give more to the day of these events and it will all work out, allowing you not to deprive yourself.

zinkemomx2 01-20-2008 08:04 PM

Purplefirefly,
Yup, it is WATP Walk and Jog. I love it! I never expected to be able to make it all the way through the first time but I did. I really like how she isn't constantly changing positions so I don't feel as though I am flailing around like a fish.

Getting ready to go do some stretching while I watch Amazing Race and then a hot shower to finish loosening up my muscles. I am going to be plenty sore tomorrow. I can tell already. I am used to 15-20 reps with two pound weights and I did 40-60 with 5 pound weights. What was I thinking?!?!?!

chellez 01-20-2008 08:31 PM

evening Blue Team!

I'm getting ready to eat some dinner and we have some company but I wanted to let you know that I lost 3.5 lbs despite my horrible eating for most of the week. I really think that the moving exercise helped!

I'll be back after the company leaves for sure! ;)

Soon2BFitChick 01-20-2008 08:54 PM

ok haven't had time to get on and u all have 7 more pages on here!! lol. i will read when i can, see how i dont even have time for correct punctuation?? Arrghh!!! :yikes:

Ok, i posted my weight, lost 5 lbs. if i can just keep steady at 2 lbs a week im good! on day 148 I think of being OP. Half way thru the year is coming up!!! What will that be day 183?? well gotta go, baby still sick and on breathing treatments, poor thing. Im up every few hours even at 3am, etc. so just glad im still losing something. i always slow down with no sleep. hug to each of you, you all did great even if u didnt lose, at least you are still thinking about it each day, trying. That's what really matters. It's when I zone out and forget to watch that I gain so much back.

nite! Selina

Soon2BFitChick 01-20-2008 09:15 PM

Feed your mind while you feed your body. Start shifting your mind from negative to positive thinking by reading uplifting books and magazines. This means that you stay away from attention-grabbing news stories and sensationalism. Get biographies of men and women who've achieved great success by overcoming enormous obstacles. Notice how they did it, and you'll see that it was positive thinking that made the difference.

chellez 01-20-2008 10:32 PM

Ok the Packers game is over and our company has left. Maybe now that we have finally moved out of the apartment my life will fall into a normal pace. We didn't get our treadmill this weekend and I'm not sure if we will get it next weekend either so I'm hoping that unpacking all of our belongings and making this house a home will help me lose more weight next week. We went to BJ's and got some groceries so I'll be able to make a real dinner this week.

I really wish I would have had more time to spend on the forums this weekend but with moving and stuff I'll probably not be able to go back and do personals from the past stuff. Now that I'll be back to work full time I'll have plenty of time to keep up from now on.

I know that some of you are interested in seeing pictures of the house after the paint and stuff but unfortunately we are not finished painting so I dont have any yet.

Other than that just make sure everyone weighs in before the deadline tomorrow! :D

Purplefirefly 01-21-2008 09:08 AM

I just posted my weigh in for the second week...down 3 lb. :carrot: And I spent all week worrying the scale wasn't going to move :p

Michelle--Even with all the hard work, it is so exciting to be in a new house..especially your first house! Unpacking can be a great workout, focus on squeezing things as you move up and down, etc.

Zinke--I just won Walk and Jog off ebay last night...can't beat $5, free shipping for a brand new DVD. I had to check their feedback because I was sure it was rip off  I do the 1 mile jog on demand, but wanted to do the 2 mile.

Where is everyone? It's getting kinda quiet in here.

KrispieD 01-21-2008 09:25 AM

Morning All
Busy weekend with the kids so not much time to chat and now a full and crazy work week ahead!
Got to the gym yesterday and the one we chose to join has a family swim on Sundays in the pool. So I was able to go workout and go to my dance class and hubby took our two little ones swimming. We are going to try and make Sunday 'family day' and always do something active. So hopefully in later years my daughters won't be having to fight the battle of the bulge like their mommy!
Great week and the gym and didn't even indulge in cocktails while watching the games so got a nice 4lb drop this week.
Keep up the great work and have a good week!

GirlyGirlSebas 01-21-2008 09:28 AM

Good morning, Bluesers! Are you enjoying your Martin Luther King Day?

Today was weigh-in for me. Just like I expected, I lost back down to my challenge starting weight, so I have a zero loss for the team. Starting today, I'll be joining Purple on Jillian Michael's plan. Hopefully, I can start pulling in a 2-3 pounds loss each week.

Purple and Selina - Congratulations on your losses! :carrot:
Selina - Congratulations on reaching on-plan day 148! I've thought of trying that, too. Unfortunately, I can't seem to make it past day 5 or 6. Those doggone weekends get me every time!
Zinke - How are you muscles feeling today?
Michelle - We certainly understand why you've not been around much this past week. Setting up a household is a full time job! Come join us when you can.

I love bath products.....gels, lotions and body sprays. I always watch for the $5.00 sale at Bath & Bodyworks. Everyday, I usually quit working, then go take a nice relaxing bath with a yummy book and my bath products. Now, I'm trying to establish a habit of getting on the treadmill immediately after work, then enjoying my relaxing bath. Last week, the treadmill won! :carrot:

Hope everyone has a great on-plan day today. Let's make this week an awesome week of losses and mega minutes of exercise!
:cheer::cheer::cheer: GO BLUE! :cheer::cheer::cheer:

GirlyGirlSebas 01-21-2008 09:42 AM

Question for the day: Let's steal another question from another team, shall we?:D If you were given the option of a free personal chef or a free personal trainer for one year, which would you choose?

For me, I'd choose the personal trainer. Hopefully, Jillian Michaels would be available! Hubby does the cooking around here and he's a marvelous cook. Also, he cooks on-plan foods for us. So, I guess you can say that I already have my "personal chef." :D

Shay 01-21-2008 09:44 AM

Congrats on the losses Purplefirefly and KrispieD!

It has been a bit quiet around here. Of course its when I have a little time to read and post.

Rhonda--I love the Bath & Body Works sales every June & December. I didn't allow myself to go in 2007. I have so much stuff and get them as gifts too so I am set. Maybe by June of this year my supply will have dwindled. But I also wonder if that stuff is not great for my dry skin and maybe I should stick with the natural products I buy.

Shay 01-21-2008 09:46 AM

Personal trainer--I need someone to challenge me in ways I won't challenge myself. A personal chef that makes fantastic food would probably make me want to eat more, and more, and more!

zinkemomx2 01-21-2008 09:55 AM

I am sore. I could only do 12 minutes of my video before I collapsed. I've been doing some stretching and I'll try the video again later. It's good pain though. :)

I am up three pounds. It is no surprise to me really as I did a lot of binging this week. DH and I are having some financial issues and instead of me talking to him about it I bury my head in food. I am trying really hard to make an effort to focus that negativity and channel it into something positive. Every time I thought about our problem yesterday I picked up the weights again. I figure it is one solution as he already knows how I feel.

I decided to also start tracking my calories again on Spark. I think that will be another reminder to me. Although I get tired of doing it after a few days I definitely think it is something I need to focus on.

Todays question. Personal chef or trainer? I would take the chef hands down.

ssgtswife33 01-21-2008 09:57 AM

I think I would pick a Personal Chef. If I could get a Personal Chef that cooks what I can eat on my diet plan, I would take them anyday. When I am at the gym, I watch some of the other personal trainers with their clients and I steal some of there workout plans so I can do it the next time I am at the gym. Works out great!! :) The thought of when it is time to eat, someone else cooking and cleaning the kitchen for me sounds sooooo good.

dixied 01-21-2008 10:01 AM

I'd choose a personal trainer over a personal chef. I know how/what to cook, the workouts I'm still iffy on.

Sonja - I slacked on posting this weekend. I tried a belly dancing class about a decade ago. If I remember right it was fun, I think I'll start looking into finding another one. I love your costume.

My big one pound loss for last week has been stolen by TOM. I hope I can reclaim it by this Saturday.

I went for my first workout at my new gym this morning. I seem to be the only one who exercises at 6am, and that works for me. They have the Curves-like circut of hydralic machines, regular weght machines, cardio machines, a lovely heated pool, and two pilates stations. This morning I did the circut which turned out to be much harder than (my old) Curves and then 30 mintues on the treadmill. I think the Curves I used to go to was set up for old ladies, not that the old girls didn't rock those machines, but I'm really feeling the workout today. OMG, maybe I've become an old lady? ;)

Diva 01-21-2008 10:08 AM

Good morning Bluesers & ex-teamies! Just wanted to pop in and say hello!!!! Remember tonight is weigh-in 11:59 (EST) so all you other time zoners please get'em on time. :D

Rhonda, how cute is it that you do a question of the day? hehe I'd choose a Personal trainer because I need someone to kick my butt into shape. I know what to eat and not to eat, so I am good there. :) BTW, I've 6.6 since posting my starting weight! WoooHoooo!

Hope the scales have gone down for al of you too! Well not more than the black team, hehe! :D

Purplefirefly 01-21-2008 10:10 AM

I would totally choose the chef! I hate cooking and everything that has to be done after it. I would love to have someone who could make yummy but totally healthy foods. Food is my biggest problem, and I feel I can have any trainer I want through DVDs!

Congrats on 4 lb. Krispie :strong:

Rhonda--What is it about weekends that gets you to slip up? I'm sure there is a solution...it used to be my problem as well, but I would assign more calories to those days, and put my lower calories on days during week I knew it would be easier to stick with. Then there are always extras for the week...right? :) you are going to do this, your comittment to keep trying shows me one day it will happen for you.

Dixie--The gym sounds great..and having it to yourself even better! You are not an old lady...give yourself a few weeks and you'll be whipping those machines and upping your weights :)

bradleys mom 01-21-2008 11:04 AM

WOW Go Blue! I was looking at all of the first weigh ins posted and you all rock!!

KrispieD 01-21-2008 11:07 AM

Thanks Ladies
I'd go for the personal trainer! I love to cook and have become a junkie for meal planning! The gym, I'm still the one walking around each machine and looking at the stickers on the sides with instructions on how to do it!
But I have to say I actually wake up excited to work out! For those that are new to this TBL, I did it last year after losing some wieght and was up to 251lbs.. so it is doable...not easy but doable and you really feel so much better.. so keep up the great work..we are all going to be really big losers!!

chellez 01-21-2008 11:19 AM

:congrat: to all of our losers this week so far! I just got done making the weigh in chart and it looks like we only have 13 people that we are waiting on to weigh in today. Not bad for 57 of us on a team. ;)

It looks like we are going to have a fantastic number to post up at the weigh in!

I weighed myself this morning and I had lost another half a pound. Kind of wish I'd waited to post my weight but thats another half a pound for week 2 and who knows... we may need it! So I think in total since moving from the apartment to the house I've lost 4 lbs. :carrot:

I started a new ticker for myself cause I lost the link to my old one. :( I also started using FitDay again so that's all updated for the day. I'm about to leave for lunch so I'll be updating my lunch stuff when I get back.

Tonight I have planned some yummy chicken and broccoli for dinner, just need to get another side together. I'll probably get some exercise in cleaning, unpacking and painting some more. It's a shame I can't post it in the exercise challenge.

Well I better head off... I need to go get some gas and get my sammich for lunch! I'll be back for personals later! :D

Hun.e.B 01-21-2008 11:46 AM

 back at ya Chellez! LOL!

FrouFrou 01-21-2008 12:11 PM

Hello ladies...

:bravo: to all the losers! Awesome job this week ladies! :woohoo:

Mommytoacacia...hope the little one gets to feeling better soon.

Zinkemom...I love the WATP and have the walk & jog myself, I think it is one of my favs. Also have the 1 & 2 mile and the 3 mile. Wanting to get the 4 mile next.

Chelle...hope you are enjoying your new home. How'd you like that game last night?

Rhonda...as much as I hate to cook I think I would prefer a personal trainer over the chef. I need someone to keep me in line with the exercise, keep pushing me.

Marianne...I too am a bath & body person and like to pamper myself with the lotions. I also love polishing my nails...makes me feel pretty for some reason, lol.

I was doing well with the exercise but I think I jumped in too soon before letting my back get back to 100%. I was just getting antsy from sitting around too much, ugh. So today it is a little achy. I will try and get a walk on the treadmill but with it like this I'm not sure how far I will get. Might wait a couple of days. I need to go add my past few days of exercise to the thread.

Have a GREAT day Blue Team!

Mama Nicole 01-21-2008 12:35 PM
