Victoria - Wow 18 and a sophomore. How old were you when you graduated high school? I'm also in college but for business and I guess I'm what you'd consider a senior. I go to a technical school so there's really not a defined level.

Erin- What part of Tennessee are you from? My husband and I went to Nashville for our honeymoon and it was a wonderful trip. The mountains are gorgeous when we were driving by cause it was last summer. Historical writings sounds like a very interesting profession to have but I think I'd only be entertained if I was allowed to read them all day instead of keeping track of them. What university do you work for?

Jenn - :welcome: to The Biggest Loser Challenge! It's great to have you along for the ride. Is your husband currently overseas? I know there's another lady on our team named 707Goddess who's husband is also in the military.

Karen - :congrat: on having 6 days off! I wish I could take my vacation but I don't get another week until June. However I am taking unpaid vacation on Wednesday to paint the house so I'm sure I'll survive til then. We'll be here to get you motivated for that 6 days of exercise! :D

Marianne - I don't have flappy arms or droppy buns yet! However I have quite a large set of buns and a large tummy! :lol3:

Brenda - :congrat: on being down a few pounds already! I have a feeling the competition will be fierce this first week so we will need all the help we can get!

Dee - I totally just realized that I put you and One Fluffy Chick on the same team so now when I'm scrolling I'll be seeing plenty of furribabies! I'm really glad you still have the motivation to lose weight even after all of those emotional events! I've been in a few car wrecks but they pale in comparison to a head on car wreck. You're determination can help show me that I need to apply the same to my weight loss.

Rhonda - AWWWWW! I'm telling!

Zinke - I feel your pain about hiding from the world by a computer. After I became unemployed in 2004 for 6 months, my husband was playing a lot of online games and of course I started too. I was playing Everquest 2, World of Warcraft and City of Heroes all at once and hiding in my apartment. I still play World of Warcraft and sometimes its hard for me to tear myself away from it long enough to do stuff on the weekend. I'm hoping that getting my treadmill next week helps fix that problem.:)

Sara - How sweet is that you and your daughter are working out together across states! Thats a powerful bond! Tell your daughter I said :congrat: on tying the knot. I was there in August!

Kimberly - TOM & Chocolate  No you need not say more dear!

Cristina - Lets hope I lose weight.... what kind of leader would I be if I didn't!

Rosalie - Being single and living in NYC.... I can see why you get drunk :hat: and stressed! :stress:

Elizabeth - Make sure you check out the FAQ and try to participate in the exercise challenge. You'll catch on!

Well now that I got my personals done I think its time to talk a little bit about me! :soap:

Had lunch from Wawa today and it was yummy! I'll probably have some sodium retention this evening but its better than a McD's burger and fries. :mcd::burger: I had a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a toasted BLT with light mayo and sweet peppers :T It was yummo! I'm still pondering how I'm going to do dinner since I packed away the pots and pans last night. I may have to stop at Food Lion and get some Healthy Choice meals just to hold me over til we move.

Other than that I have no real plans for the rest of the day other than packing some more tonight. I'm reading my saucy romance novel since work is slow. I'm weird and I like reading at 22. I started reading these paranormal romance novels at 18 and I can't get enough of them. I just bought a bunch of new ones off of Barnes & Noble but I packed them away for the move. I happened to find this one under a cabinet that I had put there for bathroom reading material  I'm glad... I was going through withdrawls.

1. What do you prefer we call you? Chelle (with the E plz) or Michelle... either works

2. What weightloss plan are you using? I'm starting The Biggest Loser Diet next week

3. What is your favorite exercise? I can't say I have a favorite but the easiest I enjoy is walking on the treadmill.

4. What is one area that you struggle? Finding time in my day for exercise. I work full time and go to school full time so getting the exercise time in is a challenge.

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? Motivating others to lose weight... even if I can't motivate myself to do it!

6. What is your short term goal? To lose 10% of my body weight by the end of this challenge which is about 21 pounds.

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? I'll probably dye my hair and get it cut since it costs me about $300 to do so.

8. Best weight loss tip? Talk it out! If you are feeling down... bring your butt to this forum and talk to me... I'll try to help you the best I can! :D:grouphug:

9. Bob or Jillian? Bob.... I'll take him packaged in a big Blue bow on my door step. I'll even be there to sign for him unlike most of my other packages.

10. Tell us about yourself!
I'm 22 (I'll be 23 on March 6th) and I live in Newport News, Virginia as of tomorrow. I goto school full time at ECPI for Business Systems Administration but I'm trying to continue on to accounting. I've run this challenge pretty much since I've been registered on the forum. I just became a moderator before Christmas and I'm loving it. I just got married in August of 07 to my husband Daniel whom I'll talk about a lot. I have 2 cats and one new puppy. (Thunder, Gizmo & Alexia) I've tried tons of diets and tried to exercise and I'm still playing the "up / down" game until I win. I'll be starting The Biggest Loser Diet next week and starting a full time exercise routine once I move! :D

I'm in Knoxville at the University of Tennessee. We're about an hour drive away from the Smoky Mountains, but the park doesn't allow dogs (even leashed dogs), so I tend to go hiking at some of the other, smaller places around here. East Tennessee is a pretty place, especially in the fall.

practiceliving 01-14-2008 03:19 PM

Hi ladies! I'm starting to get the munchies, but it's not quuuite lunchtime yet, so I thought I'd come pop in here to pass some time.

I forgot to mention earlier - I bought new toys yesterday! :carrot: New running socks, new NBx 767s to replace my ANCIENT NB 766s, and ... a Nike+! I am sooo stoked about them. I really think this is going to help me compete with myself, and get outside more to walk, and eventually, to run. Yahooo!

I slept like bunk last night, so it'll probably be a chill night at home. Hoping that my hand will FINALLY  be feeling better so I can get back at the pushups and everything. I've MISSED them since Weds, but things are starting to get healed up s-l-o-w-l-y. Tomorrow after work, I'm going to get the Nike+ calibrated, at the very least, and hopefully out for a quick walk.

Now that we're all getting settled in here, I can get back to personals, my faaaave! :D The all-teams thread was starting to overwhelm me, but this is totally do-able from here out!

Chelle
- Are you moving TOMORROW?! Wow that happened sooo quickly. I'm trying SOO hard to stave off the batwings (hence my obsession with pushups lately!) and then the battle is ON with the jelly-tummy. :D

Elizabeth - I love healthy food, too, once I'm into the routine of it and not craving the junky stuff. There's nothing like a fresh, ripe piece of fruit, y'know? The best thing to do for these challenges is check in every day, so you can give and receive support - it really makes a HUGE difference for feeling committed, I think.

Rosalie - What do you mean pretending to train for a marathon? I'm sure you can actually train. ;) You best be careful with your feelings about Bob - we're quite the Bob-lovin' bunch around here! Hahahaha.

Cristina - I like that you are flexible about what "goal" will be, other than healthy and comfortable. I use 160 as my GW, but I really think I'd be happy anywhere under 170-ish, if I was truly fit again. We'll just have to find out together, eh?

Kimberly - TOM+chocolate= Hehehe. Your little one is quite the cutie!

Sara - I love that you and your daughter are being buddies. What a great way to connect and support each other.

Erin - Girl, I hear you on the stubborn - I'm a Taurus born in the year of the Ox - they don't get any more stubborn than me! ;) Doesn't Jillian have the hottest arms?

Nori71 01-14-2008 03:30 PM

Hi! I'm at work today, so not a lot of time to be online! I'll catch up tomorrow from home.

1. What do you prefer we call you?Nori

2. What weightloss plan are you using? No specific "plan" other than counting calories, eating every 2-3 hours and exercising hard. I'm finding out what works and what doesn't and then making adjustments. This is a lifestyle change, so whatever I'm doing has to be something I can do forever!

3. What is your favorite exercise? Hiking, but in this off season I love the elliptical machine.

4. What is one area that you struggle?Binging. I have a history of HIGH caloric binges. I'm learning what my triggers are and how to deal with them in other ways that stuffing my face!

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? I love to exercise.

6. What is your short term goal? I want to lose 10% during this challenge - roughly 27 pounds.

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? New shoes!

8. Best weight loss tip? The quote in my siggy - it's not specific to weight loss, but it applies!

9. Bob or Jillian?Bob sure is eye candy (and yes, his tats are HOT!), but I think I'd pick Jillian if I was in a position to choose. I think she would be a better fit for my personality in the long run.

10. Tell us about yourself! I'm 36. I've been married for almost 10 years and have 2 little girls - ages 2.5 and 4. Obviously, I'm doing this for me, but I'm very motivated to get healthy for them also. I work P/T outside of our home and also work a bookkeeping business from home. I live in the Seattle, WA area and feel like I'm surrounded by fit and health minded people everywhere I look! I want to be one too!!!! Glad to be in TBL contest here and look forward to chatting.

One Fluffy Chick 01-14-2008 03:32 PM

Hello Blue Team!

1. What do you prefer we call you?
Sonja, Soni, Fluffy
2. What weight loss plan are you using?
I'm not following a plan, but I am following the USDA's RDA's. Mainly, I keep my calories under 2000, my sodium under 2400mg, my cholesterol under 300mg and my fat under 65g on a daily basis. I keep track by using FitDay.
3. What is your favorite exercise?
Depends on where I am. Class: Belly Dance; Gym: Elliptical Machine (but, not the flailing arm one ); Gym Class: Yoga.
4. What is one area that you struggle?
Oh, I'm sure there's more than one area where I struggle, but portion control is a big one when I'm not in "make good food choices" mode.
5. What is one area of your weight loss journey that you excel at?
When I have time, I love going to the gym, however, my work schedule varies so much that I can't go consistently.
6. What is your short term goal?
225lbs by the end of this challenge. I have a belly dance performance on April 1 (yes, April Fool's Day) and I want to wear, comfortably wear, a choli.
7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal?
A new belly dance costume in a bright color I wouldn't normally wear, perhaps.
8. Best weight loss tip?
Don't be afraid to say, "Can we choose another restaurant for lunch / dinner? I'm trying to eat healthier." Or, "Do you mind if we walk to the coffee shop, store, library, etc.?"
9. Bob or Jillian?
My trainer would be Bob. He pushes hard and is very motivating, yet appears to be sensitive.
10. Tell us about yourself!
I'm 39 and a professional babysitter. OK, really I'm a warehouse supervisor, but I swear the job descriptions are identical :D. Reading through all of the other posts, I think I may be the only gay chick here, which is why I would not be distracted by having Bob as a trainer ;). I'm currently pet-less. Shiver (avatar pic) owned me until he passed away in April. No kids, but planning to adopt once I grow up. I'll be 40-something, by then.

chellez 01-14-2008 04:27 PM

OH SELINA!!! WHERE ARE YOU!!!!

I know you're lurking on this forum somewhere!:lol3::devil:

krjpy 01-14-2008 04:29 PM

Hello,

I am using Rhonda’s Questions (the ones she stole from the Red Team)

1. What do you prefer we call you? Kelly

2. What weightloss plan are you using? Pure Weight Loss Plan

3. What is your favorite exercise? Weighted Hula Hoop:dizzy:

4. What is one area that you struggle? Time Management with a DH that works 24 hours shifts and a VERY active DS, I never seem to have all the time I want or need.

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? Commitment

6. What is your short term goal? I want to lose 20.4 pounds during this Challenge. That would put me more that ½ way to my ultimate goal. Keep your fingers crossed ... light a candle ... say a prayer ... I'll take whatever will help:hug:

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? A New Goal

8. Best weight loss tip? No matter what people tell you, you need to do some form exercise. It really does make you feel better.:woops:

9. Bob or Jillian? Jillian is too Cool and I want to look like her, but I like Bob’s Tough Love philosophy

10. Tell us about yourself! I am 35, happily married to a Firefighter/Paramedic and we have a wonderful (most of the time) little boy who turned 8 in January. :woohoo:

I started with Pure Weight Loss Centers (who are now closed:devil:) back in September weighing in at a whopping 311.8 (the most I have EVER weighed). Since then I have dropped to 255.4 (as of the weight listing for this challenge) ... and still going. I simply needed the regimentation.

My son asked me when I talked about doing this why I wanted to go in a diet, he said I was beautiful just the way I was. I decided then and there I would make sure he never looked at me and thought otherwise. I will get to 175; hopefully before the end of this year. I will stay there and never go back.

I just wanted to let you all know I am here, not just for me, but for anyone needing any type of support I can give.

Kelly

Purplefirefly 01-14-2008 06:16 PM

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? I have reward packages for each percentage goal, including lots of things I have been wanting.

8. Best weight loss tip? Change your negative thought patterns. If you go into this thinking you're going to fail...then you probably will! Start telling yourself you CAN and WILL do it, catch yourself when something negative flashes through your mind. A lot of this is mental.

9. Bob or Jillian? JILLIAN all the way!

10. Tell us about yourself! I am 30 yo, married in NC. I stay home with my little ones--4 year old son and almost 6 yo daughter. We have three dogs and a kitten, all about as spoiled as the children :D Hubby is a truck driver and is gone during the week, so it feels a lot like being a single parent at times, esp. now since he's been out almost 3 weeks

Soon2BFitChick 01-14-2008 07:14 PM

Hi Bluezers!!!! Hope you all have had a great OP day today!!! :cb:

Here is my info:

1. What do you prefer we call you? Selina or Soon2b, or Soon, if that's easier!

2. What weightloss plan are you using? Eat less, move more, yada yada yada. (counting cals, usually 1100-1700, and would like to work back up to my old usual of 10,000 steps a day.)

3. What is your favorite exercise? Walking, marching or jogging in place while watching TV, sometimes with my 2 yr old dd on one leg. LOL. True story. I have a treadmill but can't get on without her wanting on too. Working on training her to stay put with toys. But she loves me! (Well all my kids do, it's just that toddlers want you ALL the time!) :tantrum:

4. What is one area that you struggle? Evenings make me want to munch, dunno why! :hun:

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? Staying positive that I can turn it around at any hour, day, or year. It's up to me and no one else. :strong:

6. What is your short term goal? To hit 177, My 100 lb mark! I will be 2 lbs smaller than I ever have been as an adult and actually was only under 200 for a few months as an adult, LOL. :D

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? Shopping for clothes with all the money I'm saving now!! I will be hoping to receive money only from everyone for everything this year too to help restock my closet, (birthday, Christmas and anniversary). Woohoo!!! I will hit goal this year!!! :belly:

8. Best weight loss tip? Be prepared!!!!! Spend time pulling up calorie counts for every single thing you eat when you aren't home (esp if you count cals now). I have a big list I've worked on for a while that has KFC, Taco Bell, McDs, etc. bc my DH and kids want to eat out at least once a week or once every other week and I hate not knowing my cals! (I'm home so I cook almost all our meals, this was really important for me when I worked outside my home and couldnt cook my own food every meal.) Also, carry good snacks when you are out, like cereal or plain popcorn ready in your bag so you won't want to grab fast food every time. I used to keep (and will be again) a box of Honey Nut Cheerios in my car. LOL. Saved me many a time. :faint:

9. Bob or Jillian? Jillian!! I love her!!!! She inspires me.

10. Tell us about yourself! I am a 34 yr old mom to currently 5 kids. I sometimes have 6. I'm a foster mommy and have two kids of my own so far. My son is 6 and my dd is 2.5. My foster ones right now are 6, 8 mos and 7 weeks. We stay busy but we really love the kids so it's worth it. Can't say I'll have the energy to do it forever but for now it works. :D

I started in 2004 at my highest of 277. Lost to 198 within 10 months. But when my daughter was an infant my dh got sick and she was sick too and in and out of the hospital, so I didn't care what kind of food I ate, as long as I found time to eat. (not to mention I had 6 kids under the age of 6 at that point.) Your weight isn't that important when everyone is sick and there is no time to even think. I gained some back slowly over the last few years too and now after this last challenge (Thanks Blue Buddies, Go Blue!!!) I'm back to 201.5!!!! Yay!!!! :dancer:

I'm on day 141 of a challenge I'm doing for myself of 365 days of not going over my calories. I have a sick baby now and other kids too but I'm trying my hardest to keep myself as at least one of the daily priorities. My high end was 1800, which is where I've been for the last month or so. When I stayed up there I've found I don't lose at all. So now my high end is 1700. I will continue forever after those first 365 days. And I know there will be days when I'll go over after that first year. But there will also be days when I'm not that into food and stay very low. I just want to spend a year not going over and show myself what that feels like. That first year is just a symbol of the habits I want to have forever. :)

I write ALOT when I have time, ask the previous Bluezers, poor things have read all those 'books'. I'm sorry ahead of time for that!! :yikes: I talk alot too, my wonderful friend Tatiana (who is on Black team, Go Black!!!) talks alot too and her dh nicknamed us Talkiana and Talkelina!!!! LOL!!!

Wishing everyone Goooood Determination, Luck isn't Needed! :drill:

Big hugs, looking forward to getting to know each of you Blue teamsters, so happy to be on Blue Team again!!

Big shout out to Chelle for all the exceptionally hard work she does on all this!!! Thank you!!!! Gooooooooo Blue!!!!!! :cheer:

Selina

Antares 01-14-2008 07:21 PM

Great idea for this questionnaire...let's see:

1. What do you prefer we call you? Antares is fine, or John.

2. What weight loss plan are you using? Exercising, eating less and eating healthier.

3. What is your favorite exercise? Pedaling my recumbant bike and doing some Walk Away The Pounds.

4. What is one area that you struggle? I dread cooking or preparing food, so I tend to eat out a lot. One thing I've been doing for the last 6 or 7 weeks is eating a healthy meal per day, which usually means a salad for lunch. I hope to expand upon that as I get used to it.

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? Well, I was 505 pounds a few months ago, so I reckon I don't excel at any part of it...yet.

6. What is your short term goal? My short term goals are 25 pound increments, so I'm working towards 475lbs right now. Long term goal...get to about 275 and buy a mountain bike so I can relive my highschool days of riding that thing in the woods like a mad man :)

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? I guess I never thought about rewarding myself for a short term goal. Maybe once I hit 399 or below I'll look into some new clothes. I'll keep tightening that belt until then.

8. Best weight loss tip? Ease into your new lifestyle, and it won't seem like such a major change.

9. Bob or Jillian? Jillian is awesome. I love her snarl! Bob is great too, though!

10. Tell us about yourself! My name is John...yes, I'm a guy...don't hate me! :) I'm 33, never married, and I want to lose weight because I'm kinda sick of hating myself.

Now I'm going to ride the bike :ebike: and then get these pictures taken and posted.

Later!

Soon2BFitChick 01-14-2008 07:25 PM

LOL Chelle! Just saw u yelling my name after I posted, hahahahaaaa!!!! I'm here, just spent every chance I had all day READING posts, couldn't get to writing one yet, lol!! Still have to post stats and pics this week tho.

Hugssssssssss!!!

My foster ones right now are 6, 8 mos and 7 weeks. We stay busy but we really love the kids so it's worth it. Can't say I'll have the energy to do it forever but for now it works.

I think fostering is so admirable!!! Currently I foster kitties (I only have one foster right now) but have every intention of fostering children when I'm older (I'm 24) and more financially stable and having a man who's on board with that would also help. :dizzy:

Soon2BFitChick 01-14-2008 07:29 PM

John! OMG we have a dude on our team!!! Woohoo!! Any on other teams?? Just wondering. Are we the only one with this novelty???

Welcome Blue Buddy John!!!! We can do this!!!! :coach:

(Sorry ahead of time if I say Good Morning Ladies!!! Just habit. :( Promise to try not to tho.)

HoosierHeather 01-14-2008 07:37 PM

1. What do you prefer we call you? Heather, or HH ;)

2. What weightloss plan are you using? loose South Beach - phase 2.5 ;)

3. What is your favorite exercise? walking/hiking with my kids

4. What is one area that you struggle? eating too much late at night. It's a very, very bad habit of mine.

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? I keep on trying.

6. What is your short term goal? A certain pair of jeans in my closet... they fit me briefly between baby #2 and baby #3 but have never fit since #3 was born

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? new pair of mary janes... plus wearing those jeans :)

8. Best weight loss tip? cut back on sugar & refined carbs

9. Bob or Jillian? a little of each, please

10. Tell us about yourself!

I'm a SAH, homeschooling, cloth diapering, mom of three. My oldest is almost five, my middle almost two, and the youngest is ten months (Yeah, Irish Twins those last two ;) ). Please forgive me if I'm not online too often but I will check in as often as I can. Usually late at night. My favorite exercise right now, like I said above, is a hike with my kids. There is a park 15-20 minutes walk from our house. I can put the older 2 in the double stroller and the baby in the mei tai on my front or back, so I'm pushing 100 pounds and carrying an extra 25. The walk BACK is uphill, so it's a good 40 minute workout, and nice that I can take a break midway through while the kids play at the park!
My husband works full time & is going to graduate school full time.
I just want to be healthy and feel good, inside & out.

AmberD 01-14-2008 07:42 PM

1. What do you prefer we call you? AmberD works, as does Hey you.

2. What weight loss plan are you using? Eating healthier foods and watching my portions.

3. What is your favorite exercise? Running :) I completed a marathon in '06 and aspire to do another one in '09

4. What is one area that you struggle? Motivation. Sometimes I just don't FEEEL like it.

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? I've got the weekdays DOWN. It's the weekends that kill.

6. What is your short term goal? I would love to get under 165, which is my lowest ever. I reached it at the end of July, and just lost motivation after that

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal?
New running shoes ?? :):)

8. Best weight loss tip? One step at a time, small changes add up.

9. Bob or Jillian?
Jillian. She's so hard core!

10. Tell us about yourself! I'm Amber! I live in Northern VA, I'm studying for the GRE's, even though I have no idea what I want to do when I grow up. I have one and half kitties. Spencer, he's my baby and Leo, he's my foster baby. I have a complicated living situation. I moved in with my bf of 3 years and after 4 months of living together, in October I called it off. So we still live together, cook dinner together, just live in separate rooms. Most people find this a weird arrangement, but it works for us!

Soon2BFitChick 01-14-2008 07:43 PM

Amber, thanks! We love it but takes lots of effort! The older kids usually come with some really bad habits that have to be toned down and then we begin to instill good ones in their place. Lots more than I ever thought about b4 I started doing this! But for now we are still enjoying it. Some days are harder than others but most are neat, watching them blossom into confident, happy people.

Seeing you copy that piece of my post made me see I didn't mention my DH! LOL. Been happily married for 11 years now and together for 12. Miscarried one year in and couldn't get prego again. Fostered newborns and other kids, adopted two newborns, (my own kids now) and hope to adopt 2 or 3 more in the future. It's very hard emotionally because taking a newborn means you can lose them any day until parental rights are terminated which could take a year or more. Every day you have them you are scared they will be taken. I'm not sure if I can do 3 more like that. Barely made it thru my first two kids' court cases. Done with the two tho! Signed and sealed. :D

Ah well, enough about all my stuff. Can't wait for this challenge to be in full swing!! :carrot:

Hey Amber, did you see our new guy, John? We have a Dude on Blue team!!! That's a first (at least for me in the tbl challenges, last season was my first one.)

Go John!!! And Go Blue Team! :dancer:

Purplefirefly 01-14-2008 07:43 PM

Reading the questionaires I noticed a lot of us struggle with munching or binging at night. What do you guys do to try to change this? I have found if I exercise right after I put the kids to bed that kills it most of the time...since that is usually when I would head to the kitchen. Exercising then is a habit now, but it isn't 100% to kill that urge, so wondered what everyone else is finding that helps?

heweysgirlalways 01-14-2008 07:43 PM

1. What do you prefer we call you? Pam

2. What weight loss plan are you using? Exercising & WW at home

3. What is your favorite exercise? Walking

4. What is one area that you struggle? Just making myself get up and move is most of the time a struggle

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? When I really put my mind to trying to lose weight. I am good at tracking EVERYTHING! I count calories or points depending on what I'm trying to watch at the time. I also keep track of what exercises I do and how long I do them for.

6. What is your short term goal? My short term goal is to lose 10% of my body weight which is 26 pounds

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? I'm not really sure about this yet. But I will update after I come up with something :)

8. Best weight loss tip? Keep Moving!

9. Bob or Jillian? To be honest I like them both

10. Tell us about yourself! Hi I'm Pam 33 years old. I'm happily married with 2 beautiful kids. I enjoy siging, playing the piano (when I get the chance) crafts, SCRAPBOOKING! Hairbow making etc....

ckatgo 01-14-2008 07:45 PM

John - you brave soul....don't worry, we only bite on weekends...LOL...

I just got done reading thru everyone's posts...wow..all from such varied backgrounds. Cool!

So, is there any rules here, or is the only rule to just lose the weight and inches??

Hi there! Yep, I work for a "major healthcare administrator." My job is 40 hours a week and its all done via the computer and the telephone. Most days, I have the flexibility to hop on here and read your posts....so, I hope everyone doesn't get too sick of me.:D

I just love "seeing" all of the new faces here on the Blue thread and seeing some of my old Blue friends. We have such a great mix of people and everyone seems so excited to make some big changes. I'm really excited to do this challenge with each of you. I've read every post and usually I like to do "personals." Please forgive me for not doing them this eveing.....you see, I just completed my first hour on the treadmill since 10/18/2007!!!!! :woohoo: I walked and did some leg and butt exercises from my new Jillian Michaels book. Boy, this old girls is gonna be sore tomorrow. But, I'm on my way to a more slender, stong healthy me.....and, hopefully, losing some serious poundage for my Blue team.

I make herbal tea. Stash makes a chocolate hazelnut tea, no calories, no fat, no nothing and it licks the craving and I feel it's a nice way to wind down at the end of the day.:carrot:

bradleys mom 01-14-2008 07:57 PM

Hey Amber! Good Luck on the GRE! I work at test center in Southern VA! We get a lot of people from up your way who accidentally schedule at our center.

heweysgirlalways 01-14-2008 07:58 PM

I'm really proud of myself for today.

I've stayed with my ww points and I execrised more today than I have in a long time.

I did 46 minutes of sweatin' to the oldies
and 30 minutes of stay ball work out (it's the dvd that came with the execrise ball)

And I can't even tell you how much water I drank. But one only 2 cups of coffee and about 4 oz of coke. Believe it or not but that's really good for me :)

I'm really excited that I have really stuck to the points today. It seems I've been not really trying 100% to do my best and today I feel I've done really good.

I just had to brag on myself lol

No really Theresa told me I better get my butt moving since we are on the same team. LOL she lives to close to not listen :carrot:

How did everyone else do today?

I'm sprinkling a little

:dust:

On the blue team :)

Ditto on the tea. Some nights it takes more than one cup, but it takes the edge off and it keeps my mouth busy!

HELLO JOHN!!! As far as I know this is the first guy in 3FC TBL history! This is my... 4th? challenge, and he's the first one I remember.

Just a little background for all the first timers here, when I did my first TBL challenge back when Michelle started it, I was at 190. I lost 20 pounds during the first 2 challenges. I checked in often and really got to know my team and gave and received a ton of support. During the 3rd challenge however, I didn't lose a single pound. I don't remember if I broke even, or actually ended +1. The difference was I was busy, and didn't participate like I should have. Coming home from work to 6 pages of unread posts is INTIMIDATING. But it's worth it to at least skim them and post once a day. If you don't have time to do a personal to everyone, that's ok! Still check in and let us know how you're doing. I know from experience, participation goes along way!

jordan 01-14-2008 08:33 PM

1. What do you prefer we call you? Jordan

2. What weightloss plan are you using? Jordan's Plan #2 (#1 got thrown out. I have a list of about 15 "meals" that are between 150 and 300 calories each. Every day I get to pick 6 things to eat off the list. Works like a charm.)

3. What is your favorite exercise? Jogging/Running

4. What is one area that you struggle? If given the opportunity to make a bad food choice, I usually will.

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? I lose fast - I started this journey in May '07 and hope to hit 100 pounds lost by May '08 (though I think speed of loss is less of me excelling and more just pure luck).

6. What is your short term goal? Well, my ultimate goal of 138 is within sight now (but still a ways away at the same time), so I haven't really set any short term goals between here and there. I am so fixated on losing 100 pounds.

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? A life of maintenance.

8. Best weight loss tip? Not necessarily a weight loss tip, but something that really has stuck with me about this whole journey is out of someones (I don't remember who) signature. It is something along the lines of "the moment you allow your weight to define your value as a person, the rest of the world will too." So the best weight loss tip I have is to remember we are so much more than our weight, and we need not forget that!

9. Bob or Jillian? Jillian

sportmom 01-14-2008 08:49 PM

Hi, this is my THIRD (or fourth???) challenge! I think 4th, right Chelle? :?:

1. What do you prefer we call you? You can call me sportmom, or some people call me HR which was my old name. Or Fran!
2. What weightloss plan are you using? I'm using my own plan which helped me lose 30 lbs before. I guess it's mostly like calorie counting, balanced nutrition and exercise plays a big part too.
3. What is your favorite exercise? Treadmilling and weight lifting.
4. What is one area that you struggle? Not convincing myself after some degree of success that I can't start going back to my old ways and not get caught!
5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at?
LOL - Planning and record keeping. I can tell you exactly where I'll be in 13 weeks if all goes to plan. Big IF.
6. What is your short term goal? I really like Chelle's goal of losing 10%. That sounds like a really sane plan. But I think I chose something crazier like 10 lbs. a month, so 30 lbs.
7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? Clothes I suppose, but I actually have a ton of sizes in my closet now. So my reward will be getting to play dept. store in my own closet!
8. Best weight loss tip? Just fake it at first. If you think you hate exercise, just do it like it's your new job, tune out but get moving, and you'll soon find that it becomes routine and you'll like it.
9. Bob or Jillian? Bob, but I do enjoy Jillian's podcasts. I like her when she's not yelling.
10. Tell us about yourself!
You'll find out! I mean, is anyone still reading anyway???? lol

Daimere 01-14-2008 08:52 PM

1. What do you prefer we call you? Shannon

2. What weight loss plan are you using? Weight watchers

3. What is your favorite exercise? Walking

4. What is one area that you struggle? Working out regularly

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? Staying below WW points

6. What is your short term goal? To reach 209 by the end of the school year

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? Probably crying happily and feeling great for 4-H camp

8. Best weight loss tip? Load up on the veggies!

9. Bob or Jillian? I don't really watch. :p

10. Tell us about yourself! I'm 20. I've been obese for 15 years. I mostly knit, scrapbook, sew, read, write...mostly sitting alot! I work at the Y and that's really what pushed this on because just walking so much dropped 25 pounds.

Shay 01-14-2008 09:43 PM

What do you prefer we call you? Shay
What weightloss plan are you using? WW-Flex, 3 meals, 3 snacks
What is your favorite exercise? Taebo
What is one area that you struggle? Getting off my behind to actually exercise and binge eating
What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? Plan, plan, plan
What is your short term goal? 36 lbs during this challenge. I aim high and when on plan I lose fast
What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? Not quite sure yet. I need to sit down and plan my rewards
Best weight loss tip? Plan, plan, plan
Bob or Jillian? Bob. I can't have anyone yelling in my face like Jillian does. Not good.
Tell us about yourself!
35 years old, on the 2nd go around with my current BF, born in Florida, graduated from University of Florida, HUGE GATOR fan, lost and gained a lot of weight over the years, I know how to lose its the maintaining I have an issue with, have had a little bit of trauma/drama in my life which is why I am an emotional/binge eater, I have just admitted to myself about the binge eating, am known to be a tell like it is person with a good sense of humor

Finally finished reading all of the posts. I am so behind. That's okay I'm on it now and will be able to do personals from here on out.

Just popping in to say hello to Shay and all my ex Team mates! Miss you girls! Good Luck Blue team! :)

onthetee 01-14-2008 09:53 PM

1. What do you prefer we call you? Anna, Anna B or Tee/Onthetee

2. What weightloss plan are you using? calorie counting

3. What is your favorite exercise? elliptical or running

4. What is one area that you struggle? 3-5 in the afternoon. Kids' downtime; I tend to graze.

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? I exercise regularly.

6. What is your short term goal? Get the heck under 150, geez.

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? getting to 140

8. Best weight loss tip? stop late-night eating; keep moving

9. Bob or Jillian? Jillian

10. Tell us about yourself!
I homeschool two kids. DH and I are starting a new business. I am a sometimes-employed writer. I have the most wonderful family and the best friends in the whole world. I could not be more lucky.

Hoosier Heather, are you near Indy?

zinkemomx2 01-14-2008 09:53 PM

I try and keep both hands busy typing on the computer. ;)

Yaaayyyy! I just won another WATP dvd. Walk and Jog and Express 2 pack w/1 & 2 mile walks. Hopefully they will be here soon.

MaggieJ 01-14-2008 09:58 PM

This was a good idea as I am brain dead to write anything clever about me--but I think I can manage a few questions, lol.

1. What do you prefer we call you?
Maggie or Maggs

2. What weightloss plan are you using?
My own--mostly counting calories and keeping away from processed foods.

3. What is your favorite exercise?
Dancing

4. What is one area that you struggle?
Acceptance that is has to be a lifestyle change not a temporary weightloss plan.

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at?
If at first I don't succeed--I try and try and try and try again.

6. What is your short term goal?
I like to drop another 20.

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal?
A pair of low-rise jeans minus the muffin tops, lol.

8. Best weight loss tip?
Eat and move for you life.

9. Bob or Jillian?
I prefer Bob's gentler way. If I were a fitness trainer (hmmm--that's a thought), my motivating style would be more like Bob's--you feel guilty if you don't give him your all.

10. Tell us about yourself!
42 married, working mom of a 16 year old. Have gained and lost the same 30 lbs for more than 25 years. I'm real good at losing--it's just maintaining that's a b@#%h!!
