Hi Carol Sue,
Yes it means no sugar for 2 days. I read the plan and I can do it for 2 days a week. I think it woukld be a start maybe to get me back on the right track.
Read everything it says and see how it can help you, or at least maybe get headed in the right direction. I went to the store this morning and got some good food and also to do the 2 day NO SUGAR. We will see. I just plan need to get totally back on BFC. I see so many people in my neighborhood who are on a low car diet and they have lost 35, 50 and even 70 pounds sense
March. Thats WOW!!! So we know it works, and leaving the sugar alone except for what is allowed is the best thing anyone can do.Ok enoy the rest of your weekend.

Hugs
Izzy

Hi Girls,

I'm back from vacation and it went WAY too fast. I tried to be good and walked on the beach for a couple of miles every day, but there were plenty of treats in the house and I made a couple of cheesecakes during the week per request of the group. ;-) I haven't weighed myself yet as I'm giving my body a day or two to get back to normal.

Are we in the Fall Challenge already? Just in time to un-do the damage I've done! Is it just for a month or what?

Have a good day all!

Andi

Hi girls,

I'm looking forward to the Fall Challenge! I need to go grocery shopping tonight anyway, so I'll stock up on lots of salads, veggies, lean meats, fish and the like. My refrigerator is almost empty as my 19 yo twins were home last week eating like locusts. They're getting ready to move back into their dorms in a couple of weeks. :-(

I got some good news from work - they will be allowing us to work from home for 3 days a week, and then they'll extend it to 4 days a week! I'm very excited as this will save me gas and time on the road. I may be able to attend exercise classes at the rec center that I couldn't quite make (time-wise) before. I'll need to get in the HABIT of attending and that will be a definite improvement all the way around. How many weeks does it take to form a habit ... anyone know?

Have a great day!

Andi

He girls, me again,

I got on the scale finally and have gained about 5 pounds, but I think some of it is from sodium as we had frozen macaroni and cheese for dinner (bad, bad, bad!). Anyway Aug 1 is here and I'm back to BFC all the way, as it DOES WORK!

For me, I'd like to do my own Labor Day Challenge to end on September 3. I have a hard time with longer challenges and don't feel as motivated when there's no definite ending date, but that's just me... My goal will be to drop under 150 pounds, but I may even do better.

Packed a healthy breakfast and lunch and will hit Aldi's for some cheap fruits and vegetables during lunch. I've also started back walking twice a day for a mile each time.

Have a great day girls and remember to drink your water!

Andi - You have done so well and I don't doubt that you will lose the 5 lbs and continue on to below 150. But doesn't it make you mad that just a short time of not watching every morsel can do so much damage? So many other people just eat and they automatically eat what and how much their bodies need and no more. This morning Kelly Ripa had Nick Lashay for a guest host and they were talking about diets. What do they know? Neither of them appears to have any problem with weight at all. I know Kelly works out religiously and you can tell by the tone in her arms, but I don't think that has anything to do with her weight. She is just naturally tiny. I told my DH that people who have never had a problem with weight have no clue.

Izzy - I go for days and sometimes weeks without "sugar" as I am not much of a sweet eater. I will have to read this article and see exactly what he's talking about.

Ok, I read it, and now I understand. To me, sugar is actual sugar and things like cookies, candy, cake, pie etc. There is no sugar on this diet at all. It is a low carb diet where you do practically no carbs for 2 days and then add a few lower glycemic carbs for the remaining 5 days. The recipes look good and do appeal to me and if I was single it would definately work for me. But my husband would not eat that. I have to cook what he will eat, and then pass on the carbs for myself and just eat mostly protein and veggies. Or we eat out where we each can order what we want. I could probably adapt this plan to my way of life without eating the actual menu. 2 days of no carb, followed by 5 days of low carb.

Good Morning All,
Glad to see that you will be partisapating in the challenge. I have been so busy and I am having a problem sleeping. I went to be last night about 12:30pm and woke up at 2:30 and could not go back to sleep. I got up around 3am and clean the whole house. I am so tired.

Andi I know you will reach the 5 pounds and more. You are so good.
We all good take a page out of your book. I have the food and do it, if I can get some sleep.

Carol Sue,
Its good that you don't eat sweets, but for those who do; it takes 30 days to kick a bad habit. Good Luck everyone!

Hi Girls,

Well, I'm down about 2 pounds, so I must have been retaining water.

The sugar addiction that Americans have is very disturbing, and there've been many recent articles about this. Sugar is in just about everything it seems, and some say it's as addictive as cocaine! It also contributes to cancers, heart disease, liver problems, high cholesterol and of course diabetes.

I think the only reason I've lost the weight I have is by is by eliminating all breads, most sugar and sweet fruit. It's really not so bad as I substitute Stevia when I need a sweetener in something.

Carol Sue - I know how hard it is to try to cook healthy foods when family doesn't eat that stuff - my kids are a good example. What I end up doing is making healthy side dishes like steamed broccoli and salad, and mainly eat those things, leaving the higher fat/salt/carb dishes for them to eat.

Izzy sorry to hear you're not sleeping well, but next time you feel the urge to clean a house, call me HAHA. Maybe you can take a power nap in the afternoon? Also, it's weird that you have actually gained weight on Sensa - by all the advertizing, I thought it would work for sure.

Have a great day all!

Andi - The best I do is cook a complete dinner but I don't eat the starchy carbs, just the meat and veggies. DH wants potatoes all the time. When he fills his plate it is half potatoes!! He works it all off and has never had a weight problem. He is very muscular and that is where his weight comes from. Last week he was out in this heat repairing our deck, then this week he was repairing the retaining wall next to our driveway, lifting heavy cement blocks and landscape ties. He starts something and won't stop even to eat until it's done. He comes in dripping wet from perspiration. I worry sometimes. He will be 70 in December and I think he should start to take it easy but he says he feels like he's still 16.

Andi,
You are so right about sugar. It is my biggest problem. I do well for about 2 days and my head hurts from with drawal and I feel so week. Then before you know it. I give in.

Now for the Sensa. It is not the Sensa fault, its mine. I keep forgetting to put it on my food. iT also makes me itch. I have so many alergies, just one more thing to add to the list. But I am not giving up on Sensa yet. I will be fair and get my head together and put it on everything. I want to know if it really works. I can tell you the first 2 weeks I used it, it did help keep the cravings away. Now not so much, but again thats because I am not using it correctly. Now if I can sleep for a while, maybe my whole day won't be a waste.

Hugs
Izzy

Good morning gals,

I was good this weekend until Sunday afternoon. :-( My son made some Jambalaya the day before and we had some for lunch... it was good but full of rice and sodium. Then DBF invited me to a Polish picnic where they had beer and cabbage rolls...then later my son brought home some extra General Pao's chicken and I ate that, too, and I wasn't even hungry... What the heck is wrong with me?

I think I just have to avoid the first carby-meal and I'll be able to resist the other temptations (mindless eating), but you'd think I know that by now. Anyway, back on the wagon today.

Hope you had a good weekend!

Hi Everyone,
I lost 1 pound last week and probably put it back on over the weekend.
Andi I know how it is, but you have done so well. I think that a day off is actually good for you. So don't sweat it. Have a good week all.

Hi everyone! I am not doing very well. I was up 3 lbs yesterday but back down today, so it must have been water retention. I'm glad, because I didn't need to add on an extra 3 lbs.

I have not been feeling well. Nothing I can put my finger on, but I am thinking it has something to do with my bad heart valve that they are "watching". I know if I call the cardiologist he will put me right in the hospital. I have been having some palpitations off and on, mostly when I am walking on my treadmill if I go over 2 MPH. If I stay at 2, I'm ok. We went to a flea market on Saturday morning and I was getting the palpitations walking around there, which I am blaming on the darn humidity. I was not walking fast. You know they tell us older folks with heart problems to stay out of the heat and humidity. I just don't want to face the fact that I am one of those older folks. LOL I am scheduled for an Echo in September and then an office visit after he gets those results. I am trying to wait until then before doing something about it. I am aware of all of my symptoms as I have been going through this for the past several years. If I start to think it's getting out of control I will get my butt to the ER. In the meantime, I hope to continue to lose. I did well with my eating yesterday, and so far today. Still have to get through dinner.

Have a good day, all!
