  • Good Morning BFC Chicks
Its cold here and I just got back from my am walk and I feel great. I did eat a good BFC breakfast and it was a meer 380 calories. Then I weighed and I am down 4 pounds! The scale is starting to move, in the right direction! I hope everyone is having a good day and a great week.

  • Ok, I finish my zumba class, made it through 45 minutes and according to the Zumba calorie burned calulator=595 calories burned. Now add that to the 278 burned while walking=893 calories BURNED!! I stayed below 1600 calories eaten! What a day.
  • hello,
looks like I zumbaed to much. My back went out Tuesday night and I had to stay off my feet. Today was the first day doing anything. I need to pace myself and be smart about exercise.
  • Well hello everyone
I see that there has not been any activity for a while on this thread. I have posted my new start to help motivate myself and hopefully others. But so far the motivation is just not here. So I have been checking out other threads and enjoying reading some new post. I hope that everyone is doing well and staying healthy.

Hi Izzy! Zumba is a very strenuous exercise. I'm sorry to hear that you got an injury. I hope you feel better soon. This doesn't necessarily mean you can't do Zumba, but if you go back, take it easy at first. Try to modify the steps, ie, don't raise your legs as high, make gentle adjustments, until your body starts to get used to it. Your body was saying "Holy Cow, Izzy, give me a break! I'm not used to this!" LOL It might feel good when you're doing it but your body pays afterwards.

I am waiting until I see the cardiologist on the 31st before I get back to exercise. I'm concerned about the palpitations. I do walk on the treadmill occasionally, but I take it slow and easy so as not to get any heart rate spikes. I'm not sure what it means. I think I should be cutting way back on coffee, too, but that's a hard adjustment to make once you're used to that caffeine. I'm sure it's contributing to my irregular heart rate.
  • Hi Carol Sue,
Thanks for your concern, I am doing fine. I will start back on Zumba Sunday and I do think you are right. I need to start slow and build.
Carol Sue about your palpitations, could it be your thyroid? You should wait until you see your doctor. Just cut back and walk a little, do the best you can. I hope that you will be fine.
Its good to see you checking in, I thought everyone had become tired of this thread and wasn't posting. I felt alone, its great to see you are still there.
    Hugs

  • Hi everyone! I'm new to the thread and new to eating bfc I see this is in the 50+ area and I'm 34-is it still ok to join in?

    Some info on me:
I'm a sahm to my three kids and we live in MI. I've always been in the 140-145 range for my weight, but the past 2-3 years I've started steadily gaining and last week I weighed in at my highest weight ever, at 170.5lbs. I also had a scare when some blood work I had done came back that I had an elevated sugar level. Thankfully my glucose test came back normal, but that was the motivation I needed to get things under control. Obesity and diabetes are big family traits and I'm determined to break the cycle!

After hours of researching plans that promoted healthy eating/low sugar intake I decided to go with Jorge's book. I've been following it for about a week now and I'm down 4lbs already I've been maxing out my sugar allowance almost every day but my carb range has been on the lower end of the plan-around 30-40 a day. So far I've found the plan very easy to follow-I like the simplicity of it. I've been working on changing out my cupboards/fridge to lc/ls items. I've also gone from 6+ cans of diet coke everyday, down to 2 a day and also have switched to diet coke with splenda (no more aspartame!!!).

Can't wait to meet others who are on a similar journey

We are Please to have you and age does not matter. We are all here for the same thing. To get healthy and lose some weight. Have you checked out

www.SlimHappyBelly.com? Its another one of BFC quick start plans.
I have found that as long as you work the program, it will work for you.
Now for the cokes and splenda. Splenda is not a good choice, check your book for a better choice. It has been proven that diet drinks increase your appetite and makes you crave sweets.

I have much the same concerns as you, my sugar and getting the weight off. I will admitt that I do good for a while and back slide. It is very important that I get it right this time. I could really use a BFC friend to help
keep me on the right track. I think you will find that everyone here is very friendly and will help any way they can. Good luck!

  • Yeah, I'm hoping to eventually eliminate soda all together but I'm coming off a big addiction to it (I don't drink coffee so soda is where I get my caffeine). Cruise recommend Zevia (made from stevia), if you drink soda but it's really expensive and I can't find it locally. I'd rather work on slowly cutting it out all together kwim? I decided to switch to the splenda diet coke because I keep reading about how bad aspartame is, worse than splenda. There was just an article about the possible dangers in my local newspaper a few weeks ago (my mother-in-law cut it out and gave it to me Yeah, my soda habit was that bad!). It was saying that new research linked aspartame to liver problems. Maybe it's safe, but after recently reading about the possible link to aspartame and malignant brain tumors I decided enough was enough. Better safe than sorry! Splenda isn't ideal either, but I haven't found as much negatives about that as aspartame. But, my goal is to be soda free by the end of the year, and then this will be a moot point

I have fallen in love with fat bombs and I did buy splenda to make them, just because it was cheap. But, I'm planning on buying stevia for my next batch!
  • Good Morning everyone,

Have a great walk! Hmmm, maybe I better do that to!

Fat Bombs are amazing! I started with this recipe
http://lowcarbbetterhealth.blogspot....fat-bombs.html but then I ended up tweaking it based on what ingredients I could find at the store. Here's what mine are (this is copied from my bfc blog)
    Fat Bombs (Sara Jayne's version)

    -3/4 cup coconut butter, melted
-9.5tbsp cashew butter (or almond or sunflower butter)
    -3tbsp cocoa powder
    -1 stick butter, melted
-1 small package walnuts (use whatever nuts you have in your pantry!)
-12 pkts splenda (or whatever sweetener you have-add to taste)

Mix together well and put in a candy mold. Before doing this though put mold on a cookie sheet!

Put in freezer for 30 minutes. Take pieces out of the mold and transfer to a freezer safe container/ziplock bag. Store in freezer.

OH. MY. GOODNESS. Awesome does not begin to describe how good these are! And you also get a good dose of healthy fats, which is a must for low carb eaters. There's also lots of variations you can do with this recipe-play around with it and find what you like best.

    Nutrional breakdown for 1 piece:
    5 carbs (rounded up)
    1 gram sugar (rounded up)

So for those of us who follow Jorge Cruise's plan, one piece is 1/1. But if you had two it would only be 2/1 so, a very plan friendly breakfast or snack!

They're very rich so I've just been eating one a day as a snack. I usually crave sweet stuff at night so it's become my night time snack

I'm down another .5lb this morning yay! I'm wrapping up my first week following bfc and it's been amazing. I even posted about it on my fb page and I have a friend who wants me to give her all the information
  • Thanks mom23kids1 for the recipe
it sounds great I will try it.

sounds like you are doing great and way to go, keep up the great work.

  • Made it through the weekend without gaining We ate out on Friday, ate out for desert on Saturday and we always eat at my in-laws on Sundays. Tracking went out the window, but I tried to make good choices and I was very happy to see the number on my scale this morning! I think that will be my new goal for weekends-to just get through them without a gain!

    Good morning all,
Its a great Morning and I just got in from my morning walk(2.5miles) and hoprfully I can do the same this evening. I did ok this weekend but diid eat off BFC plan. I went to a fund raiser and everything there was nnot of the best choice. But I did the best I could.
The trick to any life style change is consistency and when you slip up, you need to confront your mistake and realize why it happened; Then you get right back on track and don't look back.
mom23kids1 this is exactly what you need to do as well. Its sounds like you did keep some what in control and did not go "hog wild". The great thing is that you did not gain. Well nor did I, but I would have perferred a weight lose.
Its great when we can see our mistakes and can learn from it. Just keep doing great and I am sure you will be very successful.

Carol Sue and Andi, how are you doing? I hope all is well.
Well, got to get busy. Have a great BFC week.

    Hugs
