Well, the ball is in their court now.... we've done everything that we are supposed to and now we are back to the "Hurry Up And Wait" phase!! The appraiser was here today to do the appraisal but wouldn't tell us anything. So I'm still not packing.... March 15 is coming pretty fast though!! This is a pic of the house we are wanting to get. Tired... need to do something that doesn't require any brain work tonight----American Idol!!! LOL!!!
|
I need shoulders to cry on. Just spoke with my friend's DD. My friend fell backwards from stairs onto a tile floor. She has been taken to the hospital and they think she may have Parkinson's in addition to the Alzheimer's. Her DD is a mess. I feel horrible! Not really anything I can do. I just feel so sorry for her and her DD. Thanks for "listening."
Lynn |
Lynn, your friend and her family and you are in my prayers..Keep us updated. (((Hugs)))
|
Lynn - is your DF hospitalized? Brain damage? Oh, my... that's very sad, and I'm very sad for you! Good thoughts and please keep us informed.
CK - was the appraiser snotty? Sure sounded like it... and that doesn't bode well! Oh, well, if it falls through, you can use the money you would have put into a pool at the new house and renovate this current house, if you'd like! We are where we're supposed to be.... SamCat was waiting for me when I got home tonight, lounging on a kitchen chair... good sign!!! He ate some breakfast, some early dinner, and a bit more around 8 p.m. He's so skinny and weak... but I'm hopeful. I know it's because of all of you.......... I think I'm going to go gork a little and then hit the bed. Later, lovelies! |
Good evening GG’s,
Got out of work on time tonight. Yippee. Have a little time to be able to enjoy the evening. Got a letter from a friend/coworker from when I lived in Maine. It was like getting a Christmas present. Zoe ~ thinking of you and your upcoming retirement. So excited for you. Don’t be worrying about not having enough to do. Just my two cents (forgive me) try out the retirement for a bit (with your consulting) before you add on another part time job. Give it a chance first and maybe take some time to enjoy stuff you haven’t had time for in a while. That chair beside the lake on a nice sunny day with a good book. Bobbi ~ sorry for your frustrations with Home Depot. Didn’t you have frustrations with them when you put in your wood floors? Mary ~ have a nice visit with your son tomorrow. Donna ~ glad that SamCat ate a little today. Continuing prayers for you both. Carol Sue ~ wow ~ that was quite a thing with your dog and your shoes and then the hospital trips. How are you doing ~ hope the healing is coming along nicely. Rosey ~ is the 114 inches a record? Wow that is hard to even imagine. Glad your computer is working again. Marie ~ pain relief is right around the corner now ~ so glad for you Lynn ~ so sorry about your friend ~ thoughts and prayers for her, her family and you. I have been using the Glucerna hunger smart shake at work. I sip on it and it lasts me all shift and takes care of the hunger and I don’t have to use the other snacky stuff that I was using. Rie ~ have a safe trip and enjoy the time with your family. Get lots of Gabriel hugs CK ~ sorry for all this hurry up and wait with the house stuff. Glad the storm didn’t come by you. K3 ~ glad your washer came. Hope you are happy with your new hearing aids. I just got mine ~ day two of wearing them. Any advise? Isabella ~ hope you got rested up a little. Did you have a nice time with your nephew and family? How is the kitchen re-do coming along? Freda ~ yes, with these wonderful grandchildren ~ where does the time go? Corbin will be 15 in the fall and Maddie will be 5. Hope you didn’t work hard all day, and left some time to enjoy a little bit Deelee ~ hope you are feeling better Brenda ~ Welcome Brenda. We used to get snow like that some years in Maine. We had a metal roof. The snow would slide off the back porch roof and one year was almost as tall as that roof. My DS (darn kid had no fear of heights) would go out his bedroom window with a sled and slide off the roof and onto that pile of snow that had slid off of it. Matty ~ Welcome Matty ~ glad you’ve joined us. Annie ~ Welcome (hadn’t had a chance to do that yet). So sorry for the tragedy with your coworker. So sad. Andi ~ that Ohio school shooting was not too far (20 miles) from where I grew up. Scary. MSCinnamonie ~ how is your dad doing? Thoughts and prayers for you both. Sorry ~ running out of steam. Hello to Jenye, Lyn, Nancy, Chickadeee, PrescottLady and Lucinda. |
I'm so glad that Samcat is doing better. Gosh we worry so much about them. Still sending good thoughts..
Don't know as I would say he was snotty but not "Mr. Personality" either!! I'll be glad when this is done. |
CK - I'm going to see how long this takes to accept a post and then will try to refresh it... MOST ANNOYING!!!! Thanks for the tip (if it works, LOL)...
Took right off this time... thanks. But I did want to refresh it. I'm SURE I'll get another opportunity! Nighty night!! |
Evening all, just a quick note with personals that I can remember off the top of my head. Too exhausted to put too much work in.
Lynn, for your and your DF and her daughter. That is just so hard. I hope she will be all right. It is so sad. And so sad, Annie. Like the others, I'm left to wonder what in the he!! is up with the world. Maybe there is so understanding of spouses killing each other (if I was really able to stretch my imagination that far) but how in the world do you kill a baby. How, how, how??? That is so sad. Donna, Kai breathed a loud sigh of relief that SamCat found another life. Maybe he's just so exceptional that instead of 9 lives he will have 27 of them. :) Karen MO, glad you are all right. I hope the housing stuff works out. And I'm guessing the appraiser wasn't Mr. Personality because the stereotype of one is to be a snotty nerd. I guess he really can't be chatty or friendly or his summary wouldn't be objective. Hi to everyone else I missed!!!! DH brought Sasha to my office so I could bring her to the vet. Her eye still look horrible this morning and she couldn't keep it open. Good news is that the cornea is not scratched or wounded. The white part is and that has better blood supply to heal. She's on her own prescription of Kody's eye medicine as well as Blizzie's rimadyl for pain. Kody is also on Blizzie's rimadyl for either a left wrist sprain (joint above the paw) or arthritis. I didn't bring him to the vet because DH could strangle him in the vehicle (he howls at the top of his lungs while driving - into the driver's ear). Anyway, the vet showed me how to examine the joint to determine if I need to get him in for a cast. He doesn't. Both DH and I think it is arthritis. So I have four dogs and three of them are on the $$$ rimadyl. Through petsmeds dot com the 6 month supply is $250. Sasha should be 3-7 days so thats not too bad. Kody, who knows. The vet made notations on the "family" chart that she's prescribed Blizzie's med to the two other so we can get Blizzie's renewal a bit early. We also talked about Blizzie and the labored breathing from two weeks ago. She agreed with DH that it was a cold or upper respiratory infection. BTW, Blizzie is doing great and has no lingering effects. Me? She scared me to no end that she had reached the end. Yay, the end is not near for now. Marie |
.4:55 AM March 1 Already. Can't sleep. Dh was up puttering about at 3:30 AM and I woke up. Came out and checked my online banking and sure enough, my paycheck was deposited. Oh, and it's still snowing. The plows came through, and it looks like there's maybe 6-8 inches out there; more coming down, unlikely to stop until late this afternoon, or so they (the weatherfools) are saying. Went back to bed, tossed, turned, thought about this, that and the other, read a few pages of my current book, but could. not. sleep. Grrrrr. I'll be drowsing this afternoon when I need to be awake. :faint:
Retirement. Lordy, it just sounds so final, y'know? No, I won't stay on with my "old" company as a consultant. I really need not to be working there, Each day presents new and annoying "challenges". The Vermont project, on the other hand, is exciting, and becoming much, much bigger than we had originally expected. Just a quick explanation of the "investors" for you, PT/Donna...our initial goal was to raise the capital necessary for this group to build a new headquarters. Their old campus was already extensive, and quite modern because they had done a massive renovation and addition about 5 years ago. But they've even outgrown the addition and are looking at selling their present buildings and building a new facility on about 50 acres of land that they've bought in the next town over. The problem, of course, in selling (presupposing that they could find a buyer) is that they need to keep on operating until the new facility is up and running. So, since I've been working for some time now with a group teaching hydroponics gardening in the schools and adapting it to urban community centers where it can motivate kids to develop an interest in science and math (The U.S. is 29th in the number of scientists we produce - even Croatia is ahead of us, and science and math scores across the U.S. are dropping in the elementary schools) I put on my thinking cap, so to speak, married the two (groups) together, and now the Vermonters are planning to turn their old facilities in a hydroponics institute where kids can learn, experimental gardening can be done, and food can be produced to stock area food banks with fresh produce all year round. Thus our meetings with potential corporate investors. Really fun stuff, unlike my *regular* job, which isn't really much fun at all. CaddyK, wow...that was close. The tornadoes, I mean. I think we'd all feel better if you had a root cellar to go into, or something. This weather turbulence and changes in the weather are pretty scary. You stay safe, you hear? Marie and PT - I'm very glad that your furbabies seem to have rallied recently, and they'll be around for you for a while longer yet. Sorry that the vet's costs are mounting, Marie...sometimes the ones (vets) around here seem a little greedy to me. My dd took in a stray kitty kat a few years ago, had it checked out, de-flead, wormed, got it's shots and all and then when she wanted to have it spayed, they said it would be $500! I think that's outrageous. We're supposedly trying to control domestic animal populations so that there won't be strays out there starving to death and reproducing like rabbits, but the vets aren't very cooperative. My dd could afford it, but there are thousands of people out there who would love to have a pet - and would undoubtedly take good care of one - but simply can't afford the upkeep. Sometimes it seems to me that all people care about these days isn't being good at what they do, or caring about what they do, but just about how much money they can charge for it. Oh....and I will most certainly be thinking of you on Friday and sending warm and healing thoughts... Rosey and Brenda.....I swear I just don't know how you can stand all that snow. We had that one big storm at the end of October and just about nothing until now. I'd be very happy if they were simply bookend storms - one at the start, and one at the finish. I actually thought it was pretty looking out the window last night, but today I have to drive on icy roads. Not my idea of a good time. :brr: Freda, my eldest grandchild graduates from college in May. It hardly seems possible. You KNOW I'm one old, old biddy now. Gayle, truthfully, I am less excited about retiring than I am a little worried about adjusting to it. I look forward to less stress on the work front, but then I worry about living on a semi-fixed income (I have never been good when money was tight) and even though the consulting pays well, and will supplement my social security and retirement fund, I STILL worry, It feels like such a huge life change for me. Carole Sue, I hope that things are percolating nicely on your end....sending you lots of warm healing vibes! So sad about your friend, Lynn. I do hope she's going to be okay? You must be feeling so badly - and so powerless to help. But, you've been such a good friend to her, and I'm sure you will continue to be. Oh....Massachusetts people happy because of "Romneycare"? Well, I guess there are varied opinions on that. I don't think about health care one way or the other since I have coverage through my job. BUT, having said that, I DO feel that everyone should have it, and it shouldn't cost a fortune. I'm appalled at the cost of health care across the board. Just one more example of greed taking precedence over service. I go for a check-up (once in a while) and receive bills not only from the doctor, but from the practice, the lab, the medical group....I swear that the next time I go, I'll be getting billed separately for whoever mopped the floor. Mary & Rie....I hope you both have wonderful visits with your family. (Hope you didn't forget to pack your Clinique, Rie! I love your mum and I don't even know her!) K3.....Yay on getting the new washing machine! Omg...I couldn't even imagine going to a laundromat! We are just too danged old to be schlepping our clothes out to be washed and dried. It's effort enough just doing it at home! How's the remodeling coming, Isabella? I hope you take some pictures to share when you're done! Okay...sorry for the "novelette", but I was trying to take advantage of my early rising to do some catching up. Have a super day, y'all! Z |
Hello everyone and happy March! So glad springtime is just around the corner. The trees are blooming here already. Hope our fruit doesn't get frozen out again this year. We have a pear and an apple out at my fiance's place. Not one piece of fruit this fall.:(
I stayed in bed this morning and did not exercise at all. I was surprised to be down one pound, too. I'll check again tomorrow to see if it sticks. Got good news from the accountant today and will be getting a lovely tax refund soon. Still no reasoning on why the murder occurred. I wonder if they will ever find out. So sad to see lives snuffed out so suddenly. |
Good morning all...typed this much and had 5mispelled words. Not sure if it is mind or fingers. I love the new machine. Did 5 loads and have 2 more today. Mostly cause I washed a kleenx in first load of dark.
Bobbi...thank you setting us with a new month. Lynn...So sorry about your dear friend. Gayle...About the aids work with your audiologist and get them working just for you. I get these new ones 3/9. It is a field trail and if after a month I decide they don't work I give them back or buy them at a discount. They even come in colors like purple....not sure why but BF lost hers in the yard so she got silver ones this time???? Donna...Dash says SamCat is better because he spoke directly to the Egyptian Cat God and the report was Samcat needs to stay with you awhile longer because he is you lover from a former life. Karen...How do you keep sane? I'd be a screaming fool by now. Please go down in the girl cave with those storms. Marie...Between us we are supporting the drug industry with canine meds. Actually the capsules we got from Canada via India were better quality than the USA capsules that made him nauseous. Same price even and able to get 3 months supply instead of 2. Bob from India has called with a follow up even. Sad sad world when we have to go overseas to get meds esp for kids....I am going get my cardiac meds from Canada at $1 a tab instead $4. Rosey and Brenda....SNOW!.....gesh hard to believe. We have had such a mild winter and been without a/c or heat on in almost 8 weeks. The electric company is not making money on us right now...oh forgot they are too cause they are billing us for the nuke plant they want to build in 20 yrs.... Rie....you are me 20 years ago. I love competition especially against the Big Boys. Always said I took pushy broad 101 and pushy broad 102 in college. Jane...It's nice to know you are there taking care of us. thanks sweetie. Ohhhh DS called last night a movie producer had contacted his publisher about "Bear" and wants his people to talk to the writer's people about a movie. btw DS does have "people". His agent had sub-agented a film rights lawyer awhile ago. He is tickled with even this wee hint. I'll let you know when it out in DVD! DD in NC is busy delivering baby goats . Had triplets yesterday. My lift abounds with excitement. Need to spend some time with tax stuff...yuck...k3 |
KarenFL - I snorted coffee all over my desk!
|
Yes, KarenFL, I'd have to agree with Donna on snorting (my case laughing) about your post and Dash's conclusion that SamCat was Donna's lover in a former life. That is just to cool!
|
Okay, I’m sneaking a little time… I don’t really think they’d care, but I care!
Bobbi - Home Depot is supposed to deliver a little ice chest freezer to me on Saturday. I hope they don’t screw it up… sounds like you’re about to bomb them! Gayle – you’re always so good about doing personals… now, what’s going on with YOU? And thank you for your continued good thoughts for Mr. SamCat. I think we’re definitely in Life #14. He’s perked up considerably, still hasn’t pooped, but he’s eating some now and is coming into the light. That hiding under the bed is always a concern, since I’m a chubby little rascal and haven’t figured out how to dig him out, if necessary. Marie – you’re absolutely right, and I never would have thought that kindly of the surly appraiser. They can’t be chummy and charming, because someone would undoubtedly sue for something if the result wasn’t as hoped. People! Oh, I hope all your furbabies also have extended leases on life! SamCat is still weak, so his kisses aren’t as energetic… but he puckered for BelovedKai, Kody, Sasha, Blizzie, and David. PT/Zoe – thanks for the insight into your project. I didn’t know what exactly you were doing, and this is so interesting! I can see why you want to get into it and leave the day job far behind! And I so agree about the increasing vet bills! And we all put our furbabies before ourselves… If I’d put him down, they would have charged based on his peak weight, and the euthanasia/cremation would have been well over $100. I think that’s appalling! I asked my vet if the economy was hurting her business, and she laughed, said business has never been better. People do for their babies and cut corners on themselves, it’s true. Rie – have a good trip and, yes, per PT/Zoe, take your Clinique! KarenFL – I love the Egyptian Cat God and Dash’s conversation with her. I love SamCat devotedly, so maybe there is something to this! I LOVE that your son has “people”… didn’t he do a little short stint as a turd? He’s certainly grown up well! Lynn – good thoughts for your friend… so sad! Everyone, that’s it! Hope you’re all well. It’s clouding up here, so I think we’ll have a bit more weather, but the WF assure us it won’t be much (heard THAT before!). I don’t care. Have a good Thursday! Later, Lovelies!:hug: |
Whew! Made it through February. I went to the gyne this morning and got that out of the way. The home nurse said the holes seem to be improving by leaps and bounds.
Rie - I don't think you should be hurt that your mother gave you Clinique products. She is just trying to be nice to her daughter. Don't be offended. She loves you. Annie - I am so sorry to hear of the tragedy involving your coworker. I just don't understand why people who are going to commit suicide have to kill their family members first. If you're not going to be around anyway, why not let them live their life? Lynn - And I am so sorry to hear about your DF accident and diagnosis. That's terrible. I read in the paper about a woman who was born on Feb 29 and gave birth to a child this year on Feb 29. I don't think it was a planned cecerian because it said she went into labor on the 28th but the child was not born until the 29th. Maybe she kept her legs crossed overnight so the baby could be born on her birthday! |
This me doing the happy dance::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot:
First i made Donna snort coffee Second Home Depot came not only on time but a little early Third i just finished all the income tax stuff k3 |
:carrot: Karenfla! (Home Depot delivery)
:club:Samcat! (stopped batting dust motes from under the bed) :flow2: Carol Sue! (opening getting smaller) Marie! (no scratched cornea) :write:Glynne! (letter from friend) :encore:Annie (spring around corner) :woohoo:Zoe (retirement around corner) KarenMo (snotty appraisers) :hug:Lynn (bad diagnoses) Sorry, I'm pooped and need to chill. I zipped thru all the March posts but too tired to gab. We went shopping for upholstery material today, I'm going to re-do my mom's oak chair to match our new one. I must have pulled out a zillion finishing nails holding the old material. All in solid oak and hard to get out. :faint: |
We woke up to snow (gone now) but the roads were clear and we had a wonderful visit with our son and his gf. They also got snow but very little although at the higher levels on the way we did see more, but the roads were clear all the way. His gf made a great Vietnamese/Filipino/Thai lunch for us which was very good. The ice cream was Thai and she made two flavors...mango and coconut. I esp liked the coconut. She is a very good cook and is usually able to copy any dish she tastes in a restaurant. I did not track my calories, counted carbs only very loosely and I feel very fat tonight! :D
I'm tired so won't do personals tonight. |
Is it March already? I have been out of touch with all you fabulous ladies, so sorry.
We had zip zero nada no snow to speak of at all this winter. I feel short-changed. i really love the snow. I love the way my youngest and lastest dd plays all day running around with the neighborhood possie , watching her make snow forts, snow men, and watching her battle in snowball fights. My oldest DD moved into her NYC apartment. I am bursting with pride for her. She is hard working, determined and she dumped her dead weight boyfriend. Me, well I have been eating clean this whole month, (ha ha ) Tonight is Sabbath and we are having company so I have to mind my manners, my attitude and my calories. can I do it? Yes I can. Love to you all. |
Good Morning GG's
Worked yesterday, and it wasn't a totally bad day. Who you work with makes all the difference. Ate fairly well, when I finally had time to eat. One of the patients brought in a huge basket filled with chips, cookies and stuff. I had a pack of baked cheetoes, so I think I did well. But the temptation was there! But, temptation is always around. Got to make choices. I had gotten a prescription for Ambien when I went to the Dr. I think I've mentioned that I don't sleep well. I slept last night!!! I'm not groggy this morning, just really rested. I know I can't take them every night, but to some when I need them is great! Z, I remember when I left my last job to go to nursing school. I was a little hesitant, even though I knew I was making the best choice. It's always hard to change. You will do wonderful. And you can pick and choose your jobs now. Just take the ones that seem fun and challenging. "they" (whoever they are) always say not to make any big decisions the first year. Give yourself time to see what you want. We spend some much time working we don't really know ourselves. Lucinda, Yeah for your daughter. Her mama taught her well. And good for you for eating well. Don't you feel so much better! Mary, Homemade coconut ice cream? I know she was trying to impress you, but would you ask her if I can come to the next dinner? Karenfl, Isn't it just so nice to have a washer and dryer in the house? When ours broke and I had to go to the laundramatt for awhile I found a whole new appreciation for mine. I had washed a few items by hands and it made me think about the time when women didn't have the convience and wash day was a major undertaking. Hi Bobbi, Material? Are you reuholstering the kitchen chairs too? How about curtians? I know when you get done it will look awsome. Carol Sue, Glad the holes are getting smaller. If that woman held our for a whole day so her child could be born on the same day as her, she must be some lady. When you start getting that urge to push, it would take a lot more than that for me! Jess, Glad SAmCAt found another life. I've though I might like to get a small freezer but didn't think I would get enough stuff to put in it to make it worth while. I do like to buy the sales though. Just wonder if it would pay for it's self. Let me know... And after Karens comment, I know you're looking at Samcat in a whole new light.. Marie, Thinking about you and praying Rosie, Saw the pictures of the snow. And while I don't mind snow, I think I might mind THAT much snow. It would be fun for the kids though. do they keep the roads open? Lynn, so sad to hear about your DF. Talk about adding insult to injury! She already had so much going on, she really did not need the new diagnosis. Annie, I think some one else already mentioned that if you must kill yourself, just what gives you the right to take someone else along with you? But I try to remember that anyone in that state of mind is not thinking. What must be going through their mind I can't imagine. Poor babies who didn't even get a chance to make decisions on their own. Gayle, I'm glad you got off on time for a change. Seems like those last hours are the absolute worst! Probably are, since something is going on tha makes it impossible to leave. Karen, Glad the storms missed you. Seems like nature is really running amuck this year. Hope evryone has a great day, Freda |
Hi Everyone,
Yesterday's lecture about Rodin was VERY interesting. The presenter demonstrated how Rodin used impressionistic methods to capture the essence of Michaelangelo's creations. I really like to learn about art and artists from scholars. It makes you change how you look at things. I spoke with my DF's DD last night - my DF is home and the Neurologist at the hospital definitely thinks she has Parkinson's. Next step is to get her to her regular Neurologist and see if he agrees. Not sure how/if her treatment would change. I am almost frightened to go online to research this. My DD & SIL left for Alaska this morning. They come back on St. Patrick's day. Today is some home maintenance stuff. Tomorrow is a genealogy conference and Sunday is the London play at the movies. Have a great weekend, Lynn |
All these pop-up ads are VERY annoying AND tough to get rid of.

Freda...wrong house. We purchased a new living room chair for our house and I'm redoing my mom's old chair with new fabric. It's really a neat old chair with oak arms and legs. I'll post a picture. I've taken off most of the old floral pattern. I still have the arms to do, I'll replace the floral with a solid material to match our new chair.

Quick hola, All...
Bobbi - I love that old fashioned chair... so much prettier than the faux things we have now! The new fabric will be beautiful! And Charlie, peeking around the edge of the picture... too sweet! SamCat seems to have rallied completely. He had disappeared when I got home last night, figured I'd find him when I smelled the body... however, he was hunkered down under the covers. This is new this winter; I guess the little guy is cold. Anyway, knock on Wood (my head hurts), we seem to be upright and fairly functional again. Gotta run... I'm glad it's Friday. I'm pooped, although I did sleep well last night. I guess that makes sense? Everyone, have a lovely Friday!:hug: |

Good morning GG's,
Yippee ~ a day off today. Doing some puttery things. Got a little apron (premade ~ was less expensive than making it myself) for Maddie and letters that spell her name to attach. Apron for cooking at Grandma's. I had made one for Corbin when he was about her age. Have a little backpack for when I go somewhere and don't want to have to carry my purse, but need some stuff, and want my hands free ~ have decorated that with some cloth and gonna attach some letters to that as well. Got some wall decorations hung, and a hook attached to a decoration that I had on the bedroom door so it wouldn't fall off again. Doing laundry. Grrrr at my dr ~ trying to get my medicines straightened out ~ almost running out of them. The dr's office has made such a mess of things. Due to the company buyout, we have new health insurance and new mail away pharmacy. They sent part of the renewal information to the mail away place (CVS Caremark) and part of it (which was supposed to have also gone to the mail away place) to the local CVS. What a mess ~ DH has spent hours several days on the phone with the pharmacy and the dr's office trying to get it straightened out. Ok, I'd better get back to work. Procrastinating here ~ unfortunately ~ I am good at that ~ too good. Hope you all are having a good day. |
Me too Mary, I am fat this morning. Back to counting calories today...the scale wasn't very nice today.

Hello Goldens!
My travel day went well despite some tight connection times at the airports. I am amazed at how much easier it is for me to get around. I just stride through the airports :dancer:. I noticed a few morbidly obese people yesterday struggling through their trips and I felt sorry for them... I remember how hard that was. Dgs grandson Gabriel remembered me and was so happy to see me. This is the first time that I haven't spent the first two days of a visit making friends with him. It was really lovely! We went out to a great asian fusion place last night and enjoyed sushi. (yes, in Grand Forks ND!) One other funny thing: I sat next to a guy "from philly" on the last leg of the trip and watching his reaction to the tiny airport was so funny! The idea that there was only one baggage claim and two gates just floored him! Oh, and the clinique..... I did NOT bring it. ;) Seriously, will I EVER outgrow the need to defy my mom? Marie, I am thinking about you. Sorry about how expensive the medications are but your babies are worth it! I laughed at the howling while driving description. Karenfl, like Donna, I have learned to refrain from eating or drinking while reading your hilarious posts. Yay on getting the washing machine... Donna, so happy about SamCat. He is a regal being and graces your life. The weather fools were wrong here, also. Lynn, so sorry about your friend! I guess there might be a blessing in the fact that she won't understand what is happening so much... I liked your description of the lecture. My dil is graduating with her MFA and I spent much of the pleasant evening listening to her descriptions of her teaching and interactions with her students. It is so great to watch her become a teacher as well as an artist. Karenmo, I was glad that I was on facebook while the storm was happening so I knew that you were ok. Don't worry, appraisers are poopyheads by nature! Gayle, yay! on turning down the candy bar. I still hate the fact that they are right there by the checkout. Grrr. They know what they are doing. Bobbi, I love that chair. We have a similar one from my grandmother. I loved your personals too! Mary, I want to come over for dinner also! I am so glad that you had a nice visit. And yes, eating is complicated for us.... Lots of days I wish that I only had to count calories.... But we get through it, right? Annie, I am so sorry about your coworker. There is no rhyme or reason. What a tragedy. Freda, glad that you rested. I take ambien 2 - 3 times per week and I have for a long time. Sleep matters! I am glad that you tried it. Zoe, thanks for telling us about the project. Wow, what a great thing! I can see why you are excited and interested. I agree with Freda, though, part of the task of retirement is to explore, again, who we are. Don't fill up every moment, ok? So sorry for the ones that I am missing..... I am out of time. DS just called me and they will be over here soon. Later! Rie |
Hello ladies and how is everyone today!! I hope everyone affected by possible severe weather is watching the skies today. So many bad tornadoes the last few years.
I was thrilled to be down a pound again today, so I'm calling it an official loss. I am going to spend the weekend at my fiance's house and I plan to take something semi-healthy out there to eat for supper tonight. He usually likes me to bring pizza, but I think I'll stop and pick up a roasted chicken and get some healthy sides to go along with it. I don't usually exercise on the weekends, but I've decided to try and get in at least one workout each weekend. I have done one each weekend for the last two and want to squeeze one in this weekend, too. I'm so tired of trying to get to goal, I just want it over with!! Got in 4 miles this morning!!:carrot: |
Just a quick check in here this morning. We set up the movers to come on March 16.. so if all goes well we have 2 weeks to get packed up! But of course we are still waiting to hear back from the appraisal!! Once that comes in going to get very busy around here!! OR NOT! Grrr..I hate waiting on things!
Anyway, I may not get back in here to do personals for the next couple weeks. Once my computer internet is gone I will have to rely on using the iphone and go where I have a hot spot! But that is how things are here for me today. Didn't have any really bad weather last night. About 5:00 this morning there was a huge clap of thunder! I set straight up, Ginger made a dive under the bed and Sissy climbed up between Tim and I!! Got some rain with it, not much and it was over in about 45 minutes... OK, everyone know that I am thinking of you and if I'm not here it is just because I am busy.. will try to connect when I can! |
Hi. Just a run through. Glad everyone is surviving March so far, including cats and dogs. Thinking of Marie. This is her surgery day, isn't it?
My kitchen is upside down and turned inside out which means I'm not functioning very well. It is now an almost bright orange color. Did I pick the wrong color??? I'll soon see when the counter top and floor is installed. Fortunately, paint is easily remedied. Will definitely be taking pictures of this regardless whether I keep the color or not. :D Gotta go do my hair as I'm singing tonight in the World Day of Prayer. Must be presentable for my public. Thinking of all of you. |
Thoughts and prayers for all the states that are having such severe weather right now.. Be safe everyone!

Yep, Marie's surgery is next Tuesday. Don't know why I thought it was today. Well, I'll certainly keep that in mind until Tuesday.
Karen31, I didn't even realize there were storms in the US until I read your post. Wow! I just looked them up. So happy you are safe but really sad about all the damage and loss of life. Hope everything goes well with the house. Mary, that ice cream sounds so good. I have a couple of overly ripe mangoes in the frig. I wonder if I could make a mango ice cream, hmmmm. Hi, Lucinda. Have missed you not posting as often. Freda, good choice on the baked cheetos. Don't know if I'd have as much resolve. Lynn, you do such interesting things. There is nothing available here like the things you do so I live vicariously through your interesting posts. I don't have any ads popping up because one of my ds put an ad block on my laptop. I'm always amazed when I use someone else's because of the number of ads that do pop up. Donna, yeah for SamCat!!! Maybe he had a case of feline flu and is getting better. Gayle, I can't believe all the red tape involved with your medical insurance and doctor's office. I would be one unhappy camper if that was happening to me. Where did you hang your decorations? Rie, how old is Gabriel? My dgs will be 3 years old next week. Can't wait to see him. Your airport is my kind of place. Can't get lost there. :D Hi Annie. I don't think I welcomed you. How did your finance enjoy his semi-healthy meal tonight? Rosey, aren't computers just grand (when they're not driving you crazy). I love watching my gs. Who'd a thunk it? Bobbi, that chair will look so nice when it's finished. You will post the after picture, won't you? I have an old rocking chair that was my grandmother's but it's in pieces in the basement. Someday, I'm going to do something with it so I can use it. I broke the rocker off when I was a child and that needs to be repaired. Zoe, when I look back on my teaching career, it seems as if it was in another life. When you retire it's as if you are entering a new dimension. You have the freedom to do what you want--work or don't work if you like. That pension gives you the freedom to walk away from anything you don't like. When I retired I emailed all the teachers I had worked with a picture of me in bed on the first day of school. Karen3, so glad you have your new washer. I'm always washing tissues with my clothes. What a mess! I should have the T-shirt. Carol Sue, good news about your wounds. Hi Matty. Did I miss anyone? Probably, but not intentional I assure you. So hello to you, too. :) We had a very nice visit with our nephew and family earlier in the week. More food. The World Day of Prayer service went well tonight. I sang my solo but the piano, which is electric and computerized died at the very beginning of the song and the lady who was playing had to start the introduction over again and then died again about 2/3 of the way through. I kept on singing and it revived for the last few bars of the music. The pianist said it's never happened before and they just don't know what happened. Someone mentioned it was Murphy's Law in action. LOL And, of course, there was a sumptuous luncheon served following the service. As I had not eaten supper (afraid of the burp affect during solo) I was more than happy to have a few sandwiches and a cookie or two. The orange walls (kitchen) are beginning to grow on me but I'll definitely need something on one of the walls. Is there a word that you can never spell right? I have one which I actually do know how to spell but I always spell it wrong. It's "definitely". I always spell that word wrong and have to fix it every single time. I don't know if spell check is helpful or a tool in the demise of proper spelling. It's been cold, cold, cold but not much snow since last weekend. It's been wonderful for walking but I can't walk, wahhhhhh, wahhhhh, wahhhhh. Anyhoo, have a good weekend chickies. |
Rosey, how fun to watch your dgs streamed live on the computer. I know we get frustrated with technology occasionally but it is an amazing thing. I think back to high school and life was so much different.
Annie, have a fun weekend. Isabella, ORANGE!?!?!? Ok, it was bad enough when my DH bought his orange sports car, but an orange kitchen??? I think I couldn’t take that without sunglasses. I hope the counters and floor match. BTW, my sister is going into part-time retirement the next school year. She’s a prof at a university. She’s teaching FT fall semester and taking spring semester off. She said she planned to get on a plane to a beach on the first day of spring semester and let her co-workers know. And I mistype our town’s name wrong pretty much every time. It is Klamath and I always spell it Kalamath. I just keep typing As. KarenMO, good thing you’ve got the movers on retainer. I really do think you’re a nut for wanting to leave your paradise and pool. Rie, I’m thinking we’ll always be our mother’s daughters and defying is just natural. If I send you a prepaid shipping label… I’d love the Clinique. Glad you had a save trip. Our airport has one gate and no staff most of the time. Only when the flights in and out are to arrive. The restaurant keeps going out of business. But it’s a busy airport in that the base is a F-15 training base so the skies are full of fighter jets and experimental planes land her because the runway is super long. That new Boeing plane (787???) test flew here all last fall. DH said it was the oddest plane to watch. Bobbi, scales are mean by nature. Just like appraisers. They never like to give good numbers. Gayle, on the med problem. One would think they’d understand the importance of medicine continuity. They probably figure if they have a less that 1% kill rate, the transition was successful. Good job by your DH to keep you protected. Donna, Kai was sad that SamCat had been ill this week and wasn’t able to make the flight to Oregon for her birthday party today. She is relieved SamCat is on the mend and did eat SamCat’s piece of chocolate b-day cake then breathed hard on the computer so the scent will waft to SamCat. BTW, Kai Pixie, my little imp baby turned FOUR today. Hard to believe. DGS and I had a party with the puppies for her this evening. Kai adores DGS and just bounced as we sang. Lynn, the popups – I can’t get rid of the Office Depot one on my work computer, Firefox browser. So I have to use Chrome on it and it gives me a different ad so I can actually view 3FC. So I agree, very annoying. I had this brief thought that Alzheimer’s is a brain disease and so is Parkinsons. So I thought maybe they could checkmate each other and your friend would miraculously recover. That would be awesome but some reason I thinking I’m hoping up the wrong tree. Freda, baked Cheetos when there were all those goodies and you say you did “well”? You did fabulous. Not just well. Lucinda, we got snow, you can have ours. Mary Coconut anything is yummy! Carol Sue, that is very good news that your holes are healing by leaps and bounds now. Maybe there is an end in sight??? Marie |
Hola, All…
I’ve decided to try Chrome and see if the problem with posts not posting gets resolved. It’d be easier than tossing the computer through the window! I don’t have a problem with the work computer… weird and strange. CK – I’m thinking very good thoughts that SurlySnotAppraiser does a good job for you. You actually seem to want to move, so I hope it works out okay! I’m thinking very good thoughts that all the scary weather by-passes you, too! I would not like living with tornadoes! Isabella – I have one kitchen accent wall in a rusty orange. I really like it. The other three walls are stark white, so the contrast is nice. I need to get in there and paint one of these days; this whole house needs paint… and cleaning… and a forklift! Rosey – your computer doesn’t sound at all well! Do you just have the one? I still don’t have my PC back, but that’s my own fault. After paying for the forfeiture, I haven’t been able to pay for the computer repair! Soon, I hope… and thanks for the continued good wishes for SamCat. He seems to have rallied quite well, is eating like a little piggy, which makes me happy, and seems to be just fine. Maybe it was a bit of feline flu, but I suspect it’s more likely that things are starting to shut down. These episodes are coming more frequently. In the meantime, I’m very glad that he’s still with me. Marie – are you ready? SamCat was sad that he missed the birthday party, but he just wasn’t up to it. He sends belated best wishes and hopes that the chocolate cake was enjoyed by all. He did sniff in the area of the monitor. BelovedKai is still just a pup! I love that she bounces when you sing! How’re Blizzie and Kody? Sasha and David are doing well, too, I hope? I’m glad that it’s Friday. I’m a very pooped girlie and will opt for an early night. GM and my sister bought me a 5 cu ice chest freezer for the next two early birthdays and Christmases, and it’ll be delivered on the morrow. I’m so excited that I can start cooking again! This big ol’ butt is growing, because when I don’t have something healthy thawed for dinner, I indulge in Burger King too often. It’ll be good to start cooking big healthy meals and having room for freezing individual portions again! Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely rest of the evening, weather free! Later, lovelies!:hug: |
Lynn - I almost forgot... this is for you and for all the readers. I thought it was fascinating:
http://docsouth.unc.edu/fpn/jacobs/jacobs.html If, for some reason, the link doesn't work, let me know and I'll email it. PS. Chrome seems to work fine! Go figure........ |
Good Morning! The storms completely missed us last night! I hope everyone has stayed safe.. please check in as soon as you get a chance.
