Just caught up on all the posts:
Ciecie, I noticed the dog picture in your avatar, is that your dog with the sad eyes? Isabella, pretty cake. I took a cake decorating class many years ago and used to make all my DD's birthday cakes. What fun! Hope your sore back is better. Nancy...where is she? Someone mentioned Facebook, I really need to get my butt over there and read the posts. Brenda...very beautiful tuxedo cat. I love cats but I'm allergic to them. My dd has two cats and one is nasty to everyone except dd, the other won't leave me alone and I hate that I can't pick her up. BTW, nice garden...is that cabbage I see? KarenMo...I can't remember if you have a pool in the new house? anyway, so glad you've found a forever home. Lynn...Tue and Wed I got in over 10,000 steps just from working outside. Yesterday I was working on cp, just barely got in 4,000 miles. My butt was numb by the end of the day. Donna...karma about MIL, yup! She was and is a vicious, nasty person who doesn't know how to tell the truth. Last nights paper had an article in Abby that sounded just like her. Always has to lie to make her life sound exciting and grand. As to your aka worthless brother, sorry about that. Who are you talking about, your grandmother or mom? Mary...where's the picture of the finished bathroom? Rosey...how'd the funeral go? Dee...I do take an antihistamine when needed, my headache came and went all day long. I think some of it was stress from trying to put my cp together. Hi Freda and KarenFla. My little lemons are really growing, even after I butchers the plant. I can't take pictures until I get my camera set up and back in the computer. Hi to all I missed, I'm burning sunlight. |
Lynn...forgot to ask you something, do you have the spider solitaire game that keeps track of your wins/losses by percentage? I had a spider game on my crashed computer that was easy on the eyes to see and kept track of how many games I've played,(over 2,000) and my percentage rate of wins. I can't remember who's site I downloaded the game from. Do you have this version? If so...what's the site?
Marie...it's the luck of the tiles drawn. This game we're on now is neck to neck. One last thing, I didn't have to put my password into my old computer when I turned it on in the morning. I think it's a pain in the butt, what does everyone do? Do you have to open cp with a password, is that the safest? Should I keep it that way? |
Hi Goldens -
Well, in my boredom I looked at my hair and decided I had to get my hair colored. Highlights and a base. Takes a long time. I weigh myself daily - I know, I know. Have good days and bad. Yesterday was good. Today bad. I thought I was very good yesterday. Maybe I ate too much chicken? Sigh. I just have to be better today. I know hormones and water weight, ect., etc., can effect it. So I’ll try to hold steady. My son is completing his fire fighting training and there is a little ceremony today. He was sworn in as a firefighter in January - and there was a ceremony then. You know what that means - CAKE - my favorite drug of choice. And, since one little piece doesn’t do it for me - I better abstain. But that cake will be imprinted on my brain, maybe haunt me. Oh well, today is my son’s great day - his dream come true. It’s not about me. Marie - when my book club was skyping my friend was using a Mac Book. So maybe we weren’t skyping but “Chatting With Friends.” But they were calling it Skyping. I’ll have to check with my friends. Maybe it’s like tissue and Kleenex? Bobbi - I have to put in my passs word every day. I guess because we had 4 people using most of the computers. What is even worse is that my son set up my net book to go off if I haven't typed something for a little while. He did this because we got that for traveling and that would protect all the top secret stuff I have on my computer. LOL! I keep meaning to ask him to change it. I’m sorry girls - just cranky because of all this disruption with the workmen. And I get cranky when the scale hasn't gone down when **** it - it should! Or at least stay the same. I’m find with staying the same. But it went up 2 lbs. - that’s what’s really making me cranky. Sorry to be obsessing about this but I figure, this is the place to do it. Maybe I’ll go to heath club after ceremony - and NO CAKE! Hope you all have a good day. |
Hello friends!
Bobbi, the password prompt is a security thing. I have it on my laptop but not the desktop. I don’t remember where that option is….. good luck with getting the rest of your computer together. What a pain but I bet it will be fast and great when you get done. Carol Sue, what a lovely story. It is so nice to remember our loved ones in that way. :) Ciecie, I am pretty sure that Marie was half kidding! Don’t worry. Donna, I may have shared this: I am an only child now because my brother had a falling out with the family. Sometimes it is easier to do it by myself. He never did anything but he always had lots of opinions on how things should be done! Grr. How does your yard look? :joker: Brenda, what a glorious, regal kitty! Your yard is really lovely too! Karenfl, good job. Psych nurses are some of my favorite people, including you. There is a special kind of humor that comes from working in that field. Anyway, good call. Rosey, you look WONDERFUL!!! :woohoo: Marie, it must have been the Oreo anniversary…. Usually, ds buys the dgs oreos because I don’t really care for them. This last week, He kept wanting to sit by me and eat oreos and I could SMELL them! He must have known that I wanted them because he kept trying to give me one – which is really cute because he only gets three cookies. He was even saying, “look gma – you can have one. Or “here gma, I took the white stuff off for you” (he knows that I don’t like the filling). Sweetie pie, but really? The 5 year old is pushing cookies? LOL I know that they aren’t many calories but they have too much sugar….. Again, may I envy you calorie counters your flexibility?:cookie: Lynn, such good news from the dr. I am so glad! I know that you have been concerned because you haven’t been feeling well.:carrot: Zoe, Must be a busy week, huh? You know, some people think that social work is an “easy” career….. You and I know better. Isabella, I loved the birthday party. Being a gma is the best! I hope your back is better! Karenmo, so nice that you are in the new house. It must be a relief. It will take a while to get everything in order so don’t work too hard now. DeeLee, losing weight is a HUGE accomplishment! Nancy, thinking of you…. Mary so glad to hear about things on the house. I hope that you are having a good day. Sorry for missing folks. Off to work Rie |
Karen31- Are you in the new house already? That was fast. I guess when you make up your mind to do it, you just do it! Congratulations to you.
Maryea - I hope you don't have too much to do on the AZ house. It would be nice just to get it sold. Since it's going for such a low price, don't you think the buyers would be glad to fix up some of the things? DH's niece was supposed to be buying a forclosure house in the Phoenix area and I thought everything was all set, but when it came time to close they didn't have the $7,000 closing costs and couldn't get help from anyone. Her Dad had already sent them the down payment. Wouldn't it make sense to have that all worked out before you even started looking for a house????? Did they think that someone was just going to have an extra $7K sitting around waiting for them to ask? Kids make me so mad sometimes. Well maybe they learned their lesson and will have things in order next time. |

Check to see if it was not included with your computer. If you go to "start," & then "games," it should be there. Lynn |
Good Hola, All…
Since I never have trouble with 3FC at work (so far!), I think I’ll respond only during work days from now on! Unfortunately, I have nothing to report, nothing interesting OR exciting. So sorry! CK – are you in full moving mode? This weekend is going to be crazy for you… will Tim be able to get started on the pool by Monday, do you think? Did everything go smoothly at the closings? Rosey – do your kids have jobs lined up already? How long do you think they’ll stay with you? I know you’re so excited… especially, I’m SURE, to meet Lucky Lady! CarolSue – your story about your MIL was neat… I liked it. Bobbi – GM is my mom. We’ve always called her Granny, I guess! So GM is GrannyMom. Did you get your computer all up and running properly? The Spider Solitaire I use is the one on “games” from All Programs in the start section. It keeps track of percentages. Rie – the “boys” did the front only and will return to do the back later. It looks really good! They cleaned window wells, raked 7 bags of mashed grass, and I needed to have it done… even though I think they ARE expensive. Marie – I hope you’re not working too hard, resting! I can just imagine that you’re running your entire department from your home computer!! SamCat hugs to Beloved and to Kody, Sasha, Blizzie, and David! Better get back to work. I should at least give them a LITTLE effort for their money! Have a good weekend, everyone!:hug: |
A little synchronicity –
When I ran a graduate education program, I had a student who became anorexic and almost died. I got very involved with her and her family and helped her get the help she needed. Recently, I have gotten back involved with this program teaching an online course and helping the new director set up an alumni association. I have gotten in touch with many of my former students and REALLY wanted to get in touch with this student. However, the email I had for her was not working and no one had a working email address for her. As you know, I recently made an appointment to see a hematologist about my lymphoma. While I was waiting in the lobby of the cancer hospital, I saw this student. She was there with her mother who also has lymphoma. I was ABSOLUTELY overjoyed. Needless to say, I now have this student’s email address. Just so weird that we both happened to be in the same place at the same time! |
That is why i think some things are just ment to be.
so glad you got to hook up with her again. |
Quote:
It was just so weird. I have been going to my dermatologist for over 4 years. He is in a totally different building. I just decided that I wanted to check in with a hematologist or I NEVER would have been in the hospital building! Lynn |
Thanks Lynn...I found it and put a pin cushion thingy on it to show up at the bottom tool bar. Really easy to click on. I play this game everyday, keep playing until I win. I'm obsessed:yikes:
|
Hi everyone. a very busy day here.i'm babysitting for my niece. the girls are fun but keep me hopping,we colored, did our nails and made beaded bracelets. they are watching a movie now. i have to bring food to the funeral tomorrow, they wanted finger foods so im making sandwiches, the girls helped me make, hamsalad, egg salad, smoked salmon spread, and a jalepeno cheese spread. My grson played his final basketball game this morning, they didnt win but he had an awsome experience on his team and im oh so proud of him.My dd and family are leaving for alaska tommorrow, they lived here befor and have their house rented out. when the lease is up they can move back into there own place. they dont have jobs yet but some prospects. im so glad they are coming back. Lynn i love unexpected surprizes like that,it was meant to be.Hope your weekend is wonderful rosey
breakfast coffee greek yogurt with kashi cereal lunch carrotts and celery dipped in pbutter snack coffee mocha dinner 1/2 grilled cheese 1 c tomatoe soup |
Brenda, Sylvee looks like the queen kitty. I love she is guarding the gifts. And your garden is lovely. Absolutely beautiful. And good job getting the pictures uploaded. :carrot:
Carol Sue I love the story about your MIL and St. Patricks. That is a little eerie. :dizzy: Bobbi, you’re further in the book than me. If I wasn’t listening, I’d have skimmed the dog fighting too. And Sterling and daughter do need a whack with rosey’s rolling pin. Bobbi, I remember long ago (around 10 years old) going from maple to maple tree in Minnesota, collecting sap in the spring. About this time of year. Since it’s maple pollen you’re allergic to and the pollen can travel miles and miles and miles, you should stay on antihistamines throughout the pollen season. My home computer would never have a password. That would be a pain in the butt. Glad you found your Spider game. Deelee, I have the Skype program on my Macbook but there isn’t an app for iPad. I bet you’re so proud of your son! My thought is that scales are evil. Pure and simple. Necessary for me but evil none the less. I was thinking of painting a devil face  on it but then thought the paint might add some weight when I weigh in. Rie, I thought we were soul sisters but you don’t like OREOS??? Are you nuts? And the filling is delightful – a fine blend of chemicals. :o Donna, the lawnboys might be spendy but surely the enjoyment of look at them, errr their work, is worth it. :p Not much working today. Too much work yesterday. Lynn, that is fabulous you ran into your former student that you had such ties too. That is amazing. Rosey, sounds like you’ll have a busy weekend then your DD will be there. How cool is that? Ciecie, I love discussing cookies. Girl Scout, Oreos or homemade chocolate chip. I was just thinking that on a diet forum you and I could get into trouble. :D I had a nice morning with DH. We played our new super scrabble and made homemade Irish Cream (yes, I had an allergic reaction to Baileys). Since I had half an iced mocha left when we made the Irish cream, I put a splash in it. My, my mocha was amazing this morning. ;) Now DH is at work and the pups and I are being bums. And who says you can't be a shopaholic while being restrict to the couch? I successfully bought three swimsuits, several yoga pants and a present for my soon to be DGS. Online shopping with free shipping is wonderful. Marie |

I guess we are in good company. |
We have to go finish up DD's kitchen this morning and DH is waiting for me to hustle. Lynn...I love Morgan Freeman. I really am obsessed with that game, unfortunately I lost my score and how many games I've played. I know it was over 2,000 games. I'll have a better win percentage now that I'm better at it. I just keep re-playing the same game over until I win. :dizzy:
Marie...I'll start putting a antihistamine tablet in my daily vitamin case. I run the air purifier in my bedroom every night and it helps. I googled last night if I could have the bedroom window open and still run the purifier. The answer was yes, leave the window open but only if you're not allergic to pollen. DUH......... I just popped one in my mouth now thinking of DD's two cats, I'm allergic to them also. Rosey...you meal yesterday is what my mom made every Sunday night, grilled cheese and tomato soup. We had our large meal after church and she didn't want to cook at night. I have to get back to posting my calories/ kick me. I'll have to talk later, DH is giving me the evil eye. |
Lynn - I think you were meant to meet up with that student again. That's how things happen. How had she done with her anorexia? I first met DH when I was 14 and he was 17. I saw him working in a grocery store and thought he was cute and I asked a friend who worked there to introduce us. She did, but he had a girlfriend (his first wife) and we were just friends, just said hi to each other in passing. That was in 1960. I never saw him after he married until 1997. My friends always went to a disco on the weekends. There was a country western bar on the highway and something was drawing me there, but none of my friends would go there with me. Finally, one friend said she would go, and who did I run into the first night there but DH. He recognized me first, and told me he was divorced. The rest is history. I always say I was just meant to go into that nightclub. All this time we had lived 10 miles apart, but he being married with a family and me being in the singles scene, our paths just never crossed. I enjoy telling people that I met DH when I was 14 and we married when I was 35.

Your story gives me goose bumps. I am sure that there have been a few movies about things like this. When you think about all the possibilities that have to converge for these kinds of meetings, it is truly AMAZING that they occur. My appointment at the hospital was actually for a different day. I was there on that day only because I had re-scheduled. There were a LOT of these stories after 9/11. MANY folks around here just missed being at the World Trade Center because of some kind of coincidence (fate?). Lynn |

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY EVERYONE!!!!!!!!! I made my corned beef and cabbage yesterday. Today I am making Irish brown bread - want it warm out of the oven at dinner. My DD & SIL got home this morning. They are coming here for St. Patrick's Day dinner. Have a GREAT day & enjoy the LUCK O' THE IRISH, Lynn |

Hi GGs,
I am doing diet + exercise for 1 year and now got bored with it. I lost 24 lbs and now weight loss has slowed down. I do not feel like doing IP. Is anybody 55+ losing weight? |
Quote:
Marie I LOVE TO shop online ! you go girl:D |
Good Morning, just a quick check in before showering. Why are some words double underlined on this site? Is that happening to all of you or just my new computer?
Quote:
I'll be gone most of the day like most of you, family visiting day for one. Maybe we can take MIL outside today for a change, it's really beautiful here. Have a great Sunday. |
I see calorie and calorie intake were both underlined in my post, I clicked on them and went directly to ads.:dizzy:
Lynn...Marie's on line shopping note from you went to another ad.:dizzy: |
Puneri - I CAN lose at 66 years, but only if I a very diligent with my food. When I was younger, in my 20's I could wish and the weight would fall off. It's a change, but not impossible. After a big loss, like your 24 lbs, it does have a tendancy to slow down. Your body wants to hold on to that security blanket.
Bobbi - I do not see the words underlined when I read your post, but I have seen that in a lot of articles where they are directing you to a site that explains the subject in more detail. It wonder if it has something to do with the way you have your new computer set up? Does anyone else besides you see it? |
Lynn - There was a typo in my story about DH. We re-connected in 1977, not 1997. Twenty years makes a big difference! LOL I was not still out disco dancing in 1997!
DH and I notice something else that is eerie. If we are watching TV or listening to the radio and also carrying on a conversation, we will say a word in our conversation, such as "party" and within seconds the person on TV or the radio will say that same word. DH noticed it first and then I started noticing it too. It happens at least once or twice a week. It's always a word that we say first, not one that we hear them say, and something just said in casual conversation, not something said purposely to see if they will say it. |
Hello goldens!
Today is a Sunday with bright blue skies. Temperature in the mid 60's this morning? Is this really March? I am worried about the lack of rain and snow here. The farmers have started burning off weeds and ditches. Yesterday their was a "burn warning" - no burning because it is too dangerous. In March??? I plan to go out for a walk today to join the walking challenge. I am going to baby the knee by walking slow but I MUST move! Marie, LOL on the chemical filling in oreos. It tastes just awful to me and coats my tongue.... bleck! I also laughed about you shopping from your couch - that's where I do my best shopping! Carol, I loved your story. Wonderful! Bobbi, I don't know anything about underlined words. They aren't showing up here that way when I read the post. Puneri, I have been on a plateau for a while. It takes a while to lose when you get close to goal weight. Most of the people that I know on IP have put the weight back on. I consider this to be a lifestyle change - not a diet. I keep hoping that the scale will reward me in the end... Brenda, did you celebrate last night? Lynn, that was a great story about your student. Some things are meant to happen. Did you enjoy your supper last night? Rosey, I always think that it must be such a joy to go to "Aunt Rosey's house". Those girls will always remember their times with you. Donna (hope GM is ok), Zoe (hoping Micah is better), Nancy () Gayle (glad that you joined the challenge - I will see you in CO) and to anyone that I missed..... Have a lovely Sunday. Rie |
Thank you guys,
For me also it is life long change. But, today I ate 80 cal fudge after my lunch, And I feel terrible now. |
Brenda, I think my DH would like you to chant “stop Marie stop”. I spent another couple hundred yesterday. Although he wants yesterday’s purchase to arrive asap. I found wedge tables for between our recliner couch and recliners. I bought two and he really liked them. But since I’ve been on a spending spree (a sure sign of my bipolar) he’d like me to stop. I will not buy anything today. :D
Bobbi, I don’t have underlined words either. I do when I read my yahoo email and other sites’ articles. Rie, I so understand “I must MOVE”. I keep putting music on that just makes me dance around the house. So I keep dancing and causing problems. :o We had a wonderful time with my DS, DIL and DGD last night. Kody was a bad doggie and got sent outside with a scolding when he rumbled (not a growl in the least but not nice) at DGD. I don’t think I’ve moved that fast since the surgery. He was out the door in seconds. This morning, my DD and I skyped and she had my DGS read Go Dog Go to me. He’s a kindergartener and the book is 64 pages long. DD discovered he knew how to read on Friday and he read me a book yesterday too. I recorded itthe reading today and will put a video clip on FB. It is really awesome (says the proud grandma). I made strawberry cheese blintzes for breakfast. I’m thinking I won’t be losing weight this weekend. But oh me, they were divine. Topped them with our home grown strawberries that I froze last summer. Marie |
I'm new here. Some about me.Stuggle with weight most of my life.i stugggle with compulsive eating.I'm trying to eat healthier and exercise daily 30 mins.I do good until I'm arouind sweets, and than junkfoods. It blows the whole propose of trying to lose weight.I've been binge free since 3/9 so over a week.My weight yo-yo from binging.Right now I'm 200lbs.Was 216lbs after last binge.Does anyone else have binging problems?
|
Happy Birthday Nancy!! Sorry I'm late. This morning I didn't go to church as I got very little sleep and was tired and achy but I didn't get any more sleep staying home so kinda wish I'd gone now. But it gives me a little time to chat here with you all. Yesterday we went to Costco hoping to talk to the Leaf Guard man there but he wasn't there, so we just picked up a brochure and my mocha mix, shared pizza and left. Have any of you had any experience with the Leaf Guard gutter sytem? Is there a better one? We are thinking about getting it as I don't want dh to have to use a ladder to clean the gutters. Also on one side of our house dh says the gutter is in really bad shape and the water is running down which supposedly is not good for the house foundation. Dh has put in a filter (made himself) but the acorns and pine needles from the trees get on it and block it from working well. There are so many things that need redoing on our old house, I want to remodel the main bathroom and the kitchen but think the gutters may be our next priority. Hopefully the other house will be done with so I asked dh what he wanted to do next month and he chose to fix the gutters. ;) So if we have enough cash we will do that, or at least save for it.
Mrslosingit - Welcome, so glad to have you here! I think I probably qualify as a binger. Sometimes worse than others, and I am generally eating less when I binge now than I used to, but I still go crazy every now and then in the evenings with my snacking. I'm usually fine at other times. I have a hard time losing because it just depends on how often I do this in a week. Lately it's been about every other day. I lost 1.6# this week but if I binge tonight I could be up that much tomorrow.. I'm a little OCD I think in regard to other habits (good and bad) and I beginning to think that has something to do with my eating issues too. But I never ever give up trying, and I hope you won't either. This group is very good at encouraging and inspiring, so you are in a good, safe place. Marie - I think one of the things that keeps me from gaining even more when I over snack is that I do tend to move a lot at night. I often do stretches or lift weights while watching TV (at least I did pre-iPad!) and during commercials I do aerobic type exercises ..sometimes while getting my snacks but at least I'm moving. ;) Your strawberry blintzes sound good! Puneri - I hope the fudge didn't make you sick but if it's just the calories, 80 doesn't sound very bad to me. Slmn11/Puneri/Bobbi - I have that happen a lot when watching TV...saying a word, then someone on TV says the same word. Guess just a coincidence but it does seem wierd at the time. I too was able to lose weight very easily when I was younger...just moved a little more or dropped sugar in tea or something and the weight fell off. I was that way for a very long time actually. Wish it were that easy now! I am 69. I can still lose weight but I have to eat no more than 1500 cal consistently, exercise doesn't seem to help me much with weight loss and I lose much more slowly, yet if I eat more the pounds just seem to fly back on me! Bobbi I only see underlined words like Slmn11 described. Rie, I think I missed you, I hope you have a good day! I'm sure I missed others too...so hi to anyone else, oh Lynn, just remembered you. Hope you are doing well. Are you over the UTI symptoms? Take care Golden Girls, you are all important to me. |
Hi Lovely Ladies,
I've read all the posts I've missed in the few days I didn't get on here. Took awhile, we are a chatty group, thank goodness. I've seen some of the other groups wither and die. Worked Friday, and that is usually a busy day, but we only got one admission, which was good. Saturday I took DGD and her friend to see Disney on Ice. Saw some very talented skaters, and the girls had a good time. Dropped DGD off at home and picked up DGS to spend the night, and then this morning took him to soccer practice. I can't believe it's that time already! But then, we did indoor soccer, so it hasn't been that long. Went shopping for tennies and didn't find anything. I wear a size 5 and they are hard to find. Kids shoes have no support, and I have to have good shoes. Came home and did a load of launery (sheets) and hung it out side on the line, and scrubbed down the patio while I was out there. Ok, my back is sore.... Marie, Add me to the list of people who doesn't like Oreo's. Love lots of other cookies, but oreo's just aren't in the list. I don't shop online often, but DH just told me that he had seen an add for a Jasmine plant that he wanted to try. Any of you ever grown a jasmine vine? Rosie, I know you are looking forward to seeing your daughter and her family home again. Wish them luck on finding work. Work is actually picking up here. We've seen signs out advertising for workers. Rare site, and so welcome. Isabella, I hope your back is feeling better. Sometimes I just get so annoyed at mine. Karen, Can't believe you are alrady moved. You can move fast girl. I would probably still be packing. Rie, Be careful with that knee. But I know how you feel, I can only go so long and not move. I get sluggish and just feel bad. Lynn, Isn't it amazing how some things just work out? I am a firm believer in fate. Mrslosing it, I think most of us have the same problem. If it were easy, we wouldn't be here. But it's a struggle we all think is worth it. Puneri, most of us are 55 and old and are losing it. It's takes work but I can't imagine myself stopping. I know where I would be in just a matter of months, and I don't want to go back there. Bobbi, Almost done with DD's house? Looking forward to seeing pictures. Donna, I have problems with the site sometimes too, and get very annoyed with it. How many days a week do you work? Keep up those exercisers. Carol Sue, sound a little like Twilight Zone, doesn't it? Gayle, Haven't hear from you lately. I hope you are ok and just busy and out riding that bike or walking. Freda |
Freda, I'm a big fan of Zappos for my shoes. They are fast and pay shipping both ways. Maybe that would help with the shoe buying dilemma.
MrsL, welcome to the group. I admit I'm not a binger. I am a muncher. When I am not controlling my eating, I munch all day, never feeling one pang of hunger. Mary, keep your DH off the ladders. You don't want him hurt and the vision problem might make him off balance. Marie |
Hi Everyone,
Another beautiful day here in PA. My North Jersey friend and I went down to Long Beach Island (Jersey shore) and reserved a room for a couple of days in May – just before the seasonal rates kick in. I had a BAD sleeping night last night – could not fall asleep until after 2 am. So, I got up too late to get to gym before I met my DF. I start teaching again on Tuesday. While I am teaching, my plan is to post my food and exercise here every day. Hope everyone has a GREAT Sunday, Lynn Quote:
I lose and gain. Basically, I have been doing diet and exercise since I was 15 (I am 66 now). If you are getting bored, pick a new diet and new exercises. Doing this will also probably give you a weight loss jump-start. Quote:
They LOVED Alaska. My DD ran with the reindeer, they saw the beginning of the Iditarod, they saw the Northern Lights, they went to Homer (bar where some TV fishermen drink), saw ice carvings, and saw MANY different kinds of animals including moose, otters, eagles, and bear. Quote:
I do not have double lines (links to ads). I suspect that it is related to my security settings. You might want to call tech support for whatever security program you are using. Quote:
I wish I could insert the old noise that they used to play Twilight Zone – doo-doo-doo-doo! Quote:
We were wondering where you were on our journey to Colorado Springs. Move slowly – you don’t want to aggravate it. I enjoyed being with my DD & SIL. Corned beef & cabbage & potatoes is not one of my favorite meals. Quote:
80 calories is a drop in the bucket! NOT enough to worry about. A little treat now and then can actually help you stick to your diet. Quote:
One of my greatest regrets in my life is losing an audio tape of my DD reading a golden book when she was about 6. At the time, she had a Jersey accent and pronounced “Tigers” as “Tigahs.” Every time I think about losing that I am sad. Quote:
First, WELCOME! So HAPPY you came to join us. You will LOVE it here. Everyone is VERY nice and VERY supportive. CONGRATULATIONS on being binge free since 3/9. I wish I could say the same. My bet is that most of us have problems with binging sometimes. If I can get away from carbs, I get away from cravings. However, once I eat white bread, rice, potatoes or sweets, the “CHEW” attacks me and I am on my way to a binge. Quote:
Since I cut back on my cholesterol meds (taking 1 now instead of 2), I have no more UTI symptoms. I am still taking the Vesicare (chicken to stop). I started taking “crill oil” when I cut back on the meds – I am hoping my numbers do not raise too much. Quote:
I think that our group thrives because we love it when new folks join us. I think there is always an ebb and flow with online groups and we don’t “die off” when members take a break bc there are others to take the place. My DD has the same problem as you. She goes to Stride Rite. Got a kid’s pair of Uggs just before she left for AK. Says they did fine. Is is fate or is it coincidence? I am not sure, but some things seem just too coincidental to be coincidence! |
Hi All,
No celebrating for me lastnight. The dear lady i take care of who is 90 got very ill and had to have emergency surgery lastnight. She is on a ventalater this morning. Had a huge hole in her stomach. Hola, All…
Rosey – how long is the trip from Oregon to Wasilla? And how far are you from Wasilla? I can imagine you’re on pins and needles! How’s Mr. CrankyPants? I hope he’s feeling much better; I’m sure he’s looking forward to seeing LL and the others, too! I just finished a LOVELY book, highly recommended: Peace Like A River by Leif Enger. Bobbi – he’s a born-and-raised MN boy… what a good book! I also finished Nevada Barr’s 13 ½… most different! I liked it, too, and it’s a far cry from her other books. She's written a ton of books, mysteries, set in the National Parks… very good! CK called me earlier. They got the last load from the old house and are totally in the new house… and now the work begins. She sounds good and is looking forward to enjoying the bottle of champagne that she and Tim have been saving. Hi to all of you from her... Lynn – did your DD and her DH enjoy that fabulous St. Patty’s dinner? It sounded really good. It sounds like they had a great time in Alaska! I’m so looking forward to going to visit Rosey (don’t panic, Rosey… someday I’ll visit!). My mantra is “no cakes, candy, cookies, or white carbs”… and if I follow that, I don’t have a problem maintaining myself. However…. and alas! Hey, Rie – sounds like your knee is better? GM is the same, and thank you for asking. I do think I’m going to take her to a different doc, though; I’m not at all impressed with nor do I have confidence in the docs at the Senior Clinic. There’s so much turnover, and I just don’t feel like they’re very good at what they do. I have a lead on a family practice that comes highly recommended for the old folks, and they said they’d take her. After we do the follow up with the vascular surgeon on Wednesday, I’ll make an appointment for her. I’m very concerned about the 10# in water weight she’s gained this MONTH and the fact that her legs have solid edema, not the pitting kind. This is new… Marie – do you regularly take meds for your bi-polar? You seem very aware, which is unusual with bi-polar folks, I think… What kinds of things are you buying? I hope Kody was properly repentant! MrsLosingIt – I BINGE. And WELCOME! Freda – hi! I work 4 days a week, am off Wednesday. It’s lovely! And, yes, I do the exercises every day; if I miss, I suffer. And it’s not a little whack-on-the-side-of-the-head suffer; it HURTS! Ladysheets (Brenda?) – good thoughts! Just stopped in here to recommend those books, but I’m glad I got some personals done, too! Hope you’re all having a good weekend! Windy here… Later.......:hug: |

Hi everyone. its a beautiful day here.i just woke up from a nap. i was pooped after babysitting.i love kids and they where really well behaved(we even took them to the funeral with us) but i find i dont have the patience i used too. also we picked up our new fur baby yesterday. she is so stinkin cute and tiny. of course shes all ready spoiled and spent the night curled up on my shoulder. I got up several times with her and she did her business on the potty pad and had a snack and back to sleep after a little play time. gizmo loves her and after checking out all her parts decided to sleep next to her. jess i expect it will take a week or more for them to get home. they bought a used older motor home and are towing her car. they call it the chevy chase mobile( from chevy chases xmas vacation movie) actually it looks good, now pray that they dont have any breakdown. as always they are on a shoe string budget. sounds like when we moved to alaska many yrs ago. we drove an old car with no reverse.2 kids and a cat,and all we owned in the trunk. we made it and pulled into his brothers her in Kenai with 7 $ to our name. Lynn glad your dd and sil had such a good time in alaska.i dont want to live anywhere else.well i hear a high pitched howling so Toots must be awake ttfn and enjoy your sunday rosey

Akrosey49,
I feel you are eating too less especially your breakfast and lunch. |
Hi Puneri and welcome. the reason i eat so little is i had bariatric surgury and my stomach only holds small amounts. i take lots of suplements and vitamins and have dr care and supervision. its sweet of you to worry about me, however ive never felt better. its not a solution but a tool that has saved my life. i still have cravings and avoid carbs if i can, still have to work at it every day,i havent got the exercise part down yet tho. i hate to exercise and am limited becuz of my mobility. my legs are paralyzed from the knees down and altho im much better my balance is still iffy. however i just keep jugging along. look forward to getting to know you  rosey

Rosey - what name did you decide for the new furbaby? She's SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!
SS/Zoe - do you realize that you'd have a mere six weeks left, if you'd decided to retire the end of April? The ten weeks will go quickly, too... (10???????????).... |
