Good Morning all,
Looks like we're going to get a spring rain today. I'm saying spring rain, but spring rains are usually warm and it's cold outside. It's supposed to be in the 80's this weekend, and it's my weekend off! Whoopee! Usually, if it's warm, I'm working. Lots of plans for the weekend. I'm going clock shopping today. Noticed not many places that sell nice clocks but I found one. Hi Ms. Buttermilk (which I love, by the way) of course you can join. Welcome! and age wise, we run anywhere from 50 to 70, so you are kind of in the middle. Karen, Dogs are wonderful, but not when their owners are not responsible. Did you call the police again. Thank God Dash wasn't injured. How about Meier lemon seeds? Anyone ever started a plant with seeds? Gayle, We all just do the best we can, when we can. Don't be so mean to yourself. And exercise is hard, and you are sore at first. But your body gets stronger and you start feeling better. And they say 3 days a week is ok, so don't beat yourself up. Rosie, Oh, you devil you!!! I bet DH injoyed the little peep show. Congrats, it's moments like that when you realize it's all worth it. Isabella, I'm with you, I don't shop on check day. Carol Sue, I'm the one with the doggie that is losing his eye sight. So far he seems to be doing fine. If he gets really bad we'll get him a seeing eye dog. Mary, I don't think you can read while you do the test. They have to get your heart rate up so you are moving pretty fast. Andi, I got put on mega-dose vitamin D last time I went for a check up too. I asked my Dr. why, just all of a sudden, everyone was put on vitD. He said it was because before they couldn't check the leavels. But it does seem that things come and go, vitamin wise. Good for you today, not so much tomorrow. I do plan to get some sunshine this summer, when we actually have sun. it's just 15 min. a day, not bake untill you're done. And eggs are once more good for you, yolk included. Hey Jess, That darned ole work is taking up too much of your time. Miss talking to you. What kind of shoes did you buy? I love sandles, but I need a good pedicure before I go bare. Right now would be a shock to anyones eyes. Lynn, Hope the car is just maintenance and nothings wrong. Marie, How are you feeling? I saw the quilt you posted. Beautiful! It looked really hard untill I broke it down. It's actually mostly squares and a little aapplique. It's just the interesting colors that make it look so unique. Rie, How are you girl? Freda |
Donna, I’m doing well. Not as well as scheduled since I still have some bleeding. That did get me another 2 weeks off from work so there is a bright side I suppose. Sasha Joy is doing all right. The meds haven’t seemed to change her enlarged pupil much but she’s a happy girl and doesn’t seem in as much pain.
Puneri, post a picture of your quilt I progress. There are a lot of us quilters. I’m usually not very thrilled with JoAnn’s quilt fabrics. Deelee, I like you new avatar picture. You look great. Rosey, I so very much understand about the vet bill straining the budget. Sasha Joy’s eye has done a number this month and for the foreseeable future. I think you should take a pic of your pretty bra. You don’t have to be in the picture silly. Mr CrankyPants needs to learn the correct use of his eyes when being flashed. Rolling them isn’t. Opening wide in desire is. Gayle, have you thought about trying an audiobook while you walk? When I first began exercising, I used listening to a bestseller as my draw. I’d only let myself listen if I was exercising. It worked great. Now I don’t need anything to motivate me because exercising has that feel good benefit. I can’t wait to be able to do something again. Reading further, I see how frustrated you are. You are right, you need to lower your expectations so that you’re not beating yourself up if you don’t exercise every day. Perhaps you could go for something like taking a walk 2-3 times a week. When you have that and are happy with it, then you can make changes. Life is meant to be enjoyed, not a daily torture. Andi, way to go on your weight loss. You are doing great. I take a Vit D supplement and my results came back from my doctor “perfect, keep doing what you’re doing”. Costco sells a gigantic bottle of them. Carol Sue, Sasha Joy isn’t just losing her eyesight. She’s in a lot of pain with the glaucoma. I do think that if the vision loss is permanent she’ll be fine but I need the pain eradicated because she’s too wonderful to have to deal with that. BTW, the meds do seem to be working on the pain. Mary, thinking of you today with the stress test. I hope all goes well and you get some answers. Isabella, I’d be scared of spending the entire monthly check in one day as well. I hope she got lots of groceries. KarenFL, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with horrible neighbor pet owners. It just blows my mind how people can’t realize that they don’t have the right to inflict their dog on others. I’d never, ever think that my beloved pups had the right to roam the neighborhood. That’s why there are leash laws. Just keep calling the cops. I almost posted a picture of my pool for you yesterday. There was a slick sheet of ice on it. Almost thought it was good enough for ice skating. Enjoy your swim. I am jealous. Welcome Buttermilk, I think you’ll find a lot of us here eat to sooth our stressors. Freda, I am so jealous of your 80 temps this weekend. We’re in a nasty weather pattern that has been spinning yuck from the Pacific for a month now. January was way nicer. And yes, the quilt was very easy. It was Rosey’s pattern. I thought hers was so cute that my grandson needed one. Marie |
Buttermilk, glad to have you.:welcome: As to the ages of us, Freda is correct that we're from 50 to 70. I'm 66 myself and earned every white hair on my head.
Marie..I don't even know what an epilator is, sounds painful. I'm like a hairless dog, never had hairy legs or arms. Now that I'm older I have next to nothing anywhere? LOL Too much information...I know. Last night DH told me something scary about Charlie, he has 3 lumps on him. One the size of a golf ball, vet is checking him out this afternoon. I'm scared, tummy full of bouncing balls. How's Sasha doing? Oh how we worry about our beloved pets. Gayle..I feel for you dear, you all know how I feel about exercise. Hate it. I've sold every piece of exercise equipment I have so I have an excuse not to use it. I'm not ever going to buy more. I lost my weight just by cutting calories, period. With the traveling to Colorado site, at least I'm walking more and I do 25 counter top push ups daily. Sometimes twice a day, that it. Don't beat yourself up.[quote] I feel like I need to do it everyday, but end up feeling like a failure when I don’t ~ either because I am too tired or because I end up with not enough time. DH says I am good at making excuses, well, it is easy to say what someone else should be doing. Oh Rosey...you ticked me too just thinking about it. Were you wearing them when you flashed Mr. Cranky Pants? Karenfla...Yup, filled it a couple of days ago. Fortunately I don't go much so a tank lasts quite awhile. Armadillo? Gesh..it would be bad enough having gators in my back yard:dizzy: Isabella...the pension crowd reminded me of what our friend calls pension people. Q-Tips. He said they all wear white tennis shoes and have white hair, therefore Q-Tips. Andi...congrats on the weight loss, I enjoy your traveling history on Lynns Colorado trip. I went off my high cholesterol meds and concentrated on herbal supplements instead. It didn't work with me and losing all that weight didn't effect it either. Doc said my body just makes lots of cholesterol and I needed the meds. The extra fiber does work in losing weight. Dee...I have a MIL that would try to force food on us too. Now that I think of it, she has always tried to force her will on us too. I remember times I'd like to have more of her meals but purposely refused just so she didn't think I was under her thumb. I've had bad vibes from her for years. Blah, this is putting me in a mood just thinking about her. I don't know if myer lemon trees would work in your area. Northern folks like us have winters way too cold for them, that's why I purchased a potted dwarf tree. You could check unline but I doubt you'll find one. The plant I purchased needs at least 6 hours of sun daily, ours gets morning and afternoon sun. Mary...I'm thinking of you today, doc appointment right? Hope you get some reassuring news. Freda...what kind of dog do you have? I'm sure you mentioned it, was it a black lab? Sorry if this is so wordy, but I haven't posted for awhile. I'm sure I missed some of you, not to worry. I still think of you all often, sometimes something I do or see reminds me of my online friends. |
Subject: Feeling Run Down!...
A 54 year old woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. While on the operating table she had a near death experience.Seeing God she asked "Is my time up?"God said, "No, you have another 43 years, 2 months and 8 days to live."Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have aface-lift, liposuction, breast implants and a tummy tuck. She even hadsomeone come in and change her hair colour and brighten her teeth!Since she had so much more time to live, she figured she might as wellmake the most of it.After her last operation, she was released from the hospital and whilecrossing the street on her way home, she was killed by an ambulance.Arriving in front of God, she demanded "I thought you said I hadanother 43 years? Why didn't you pull me from out of the path of theambulance?"God replied: "I didn't recognize you!" |
Lynn...forgot to mention your Creamy peanut butter noodles & veggie dish which I made last night. Most of the golden girls are down to 2 or less people and this recipe makes a huge amount. I don't know if you mentioned this Lynn, if so.... it went over my head. :dizzy:
Anyway, it was easy and tasty but not enough sauce to suit me. Next time I'll cut the noodles in half, leave the rest of the recipe as written. Then it won't take a week to eat and it'll have a more peanut buttery taste. Keep the recipes coming, it's fun to experiment. |
Quick drive-by... need to be working!
KarenFL - I definitely misread your offer to send us all Meyer lemon trees! Sorry about the number that did on your heart! A LEMON would be lovely! Mary - thinking very good thoughts for your today. Do go into great and gory detail! Freda - thanks for missing me! Yesterday was 100% old lady. I had a nice lunch with my surrogate granny (also 89) and then spent the afternoon getting GM settled in with her new PCP. NOT impressed with the office staff or the MAs; however, the doc seemed competent and interested. Of course, they want her back next week. The doc wanted to up her Bystolic, and I said NO WAY... That stuff is terrible for her, and she has every side effect offered; so, we'll be trying #3 HBP medication. Once they get those regulated, maybe she'll sleep better, too. Rosey - I love that you flashed Mr. CrankyPants (is he still cranky?). How is it going with his diet? How's Gizmo? Pats to all pets, big and little... Gotta run! Welcome, newbies.... Everyone, have a lovely! |
I enjoy all the recipes too. Cooking and baking is one of my favorite things.
Bobbi your joke was funny! like that. Marie sure hope you get to feeling better. Hang in there darlin. Rosey your little furbabies are so cute. to everyone have a wonderful thursday. I lost 3 pounds this week. i was so happy. Ive lost 13 pounds since i started the 10 week easter challenge here on 3FC~ the support has been awesome. take care |
Hi. The construction is going on in BOTH bathrooms now. It’s disrupting my normal routine and invading my privacy. Can’t leave for long because I never know when they will have a question. Will be glad when I get my privacy back.
Bobbi - I knew I could come here and get a laugh! Who thinks these jokes up? Very good. I see that you live in Minn. Are you Scandinavian? Perhaps that’s why you don’t have a lot of leg hair. My grandmother was Swedish - no body hair but thick head of hair right up until she died at age 95. I completely agree with you about having to cut calories to lose weight. Thanks Marie. Great idea about a pic of Rosey’s bra! I would love to see it.! Vet bills are expensive. I’ve heard of medical insurance for pets. Don’t know anything about it. And if they’re taking human medicine they should be covered on our plans as dependents -IMHO. Freda - so true about what’s good for us from decade to decade. I never gave up the eggs because I didn’t have a cholesterol problem. I'm catching up on posts in reverse order. I'll be back. |
Karen3 - Do you think you could persuade the armidillo's to attack the pit bull?
Marie - My last dog who was blind had glaucoma. When he got it in the first eye they told us he was in a lot of pain, but he didn't appear to be in pain. They gave us an RX for drops that cost $97. They didn't seem to help, so DH started putting Visine in the eye. Eventually, the redness and swelling went away. His eye looked normal after that, although we knew he couldn't see out of it. Then it started in the other eye. Back to the Visine and it eventually cleared up, also. We weren't trying to restore his sight....we knew that wasn't going to happen. My main concern was that they said if he bumped his head his eye could pop out. After the swelling and redness was gone in both eyes, he just started feeling his way around and lived that way for a few more years. I hope Sasha isn't in a lot of pain. How old is she? Our dog was around 12 when he got the glaucoma. Freda - LOL at the seeing eye dog. He would probably enjoy the company! Gayle - Lots of people have lost weight without exercising, but there are so many good reasons to exercise...your blood sugar, blood pressure, strengthening your heart and lungs and mobility. If you exercise 1 day a week, that's better than none. If you exercise 2 days a week, that's better than none. Just exercise when you can, and don't worry about the times that you don't exercise. You have a job that keeps you moving, and that's exercise too. You're doing great! Bobbi - I hope Charlie is OK. Mostly those bumps are benign. Maryea - Thinking about you today and hoping things go well. |
Bobbi, I hope that Charlie’s lumps are nothing but from my experience they never are. My pack is sending him good thoughts. And so am I.
Donna, well that stinks the new PCP’s staff aren’t likeable. We’d all hoped you’d find a great doctor and staff for G/M. Brenda, :carrot: on losing 3 pounds this week. You are doing great!!!!! Deelee, I’m thinking I couldn’t handle both my bathrooms being reconstructed at the same time. That would drive me bonkers. I always think about getting the pet insurance but they wouldn’t cover pre-existing conditions on the pet and I’m busy paying for those. Carol Sue, at the armadillo attacking the pitbull. Great idea! Hmmm… the visine idea is in my memory bank. I will try it if needed. Sasha is 4 years old. She was definitely in a lot of pain. Now I don’t think she is. And I was wrong earlier thinking some of her vision was coming back. I tested it like I saw the vet do and nope. DH finished the stained glass panel to go with DGS’s quilt I made. I did a little bit while sitting on my couch but the majority was done by him. Here’s a picture of the quilt and stained glass. http://www.mariesdogs.com/images/MalachiQuiltFB.jpg Marie |
Hi everyone. its sunny and melting today :carrot: i heard from my dd,they made it to Dawson Creek today with a few minor breakdowns. im so excited to see her. jess my steve is always cranky, and complains all the time, hes always been that way. he has not had a tummy issues since i put him on a fat free diet. we are now waiting for the blood clots to go away so he can come off the blood thinners and have the shoulder surgury. after he recovers he wil be able to get to his cabin which is his main concern now. good thing im easy going to apoint, then i have to remind him to be nice :rollpin: lol oh and the puppeis are fine, toots has figured out the potty papers, what a smart dog,as long as she has one foot on them she thinks its ok LOL glynn sry you are so conflicted,i find the more i stew about it the harder it is for me. the guilt is self defeating. just do what you can when you can and let the guilt about it go  i dont like exercise either, and dont do alot of it and i find i loose just fine now, with control of my foods esp carbs.lady sheets congrats on the loss thats awsome, and i forgot to say im sry for your loss  welcome buttermilk. hope youday is a good one everyone ttfn rosey

I’m back.
Thanks Gayle - about compliment. I read your later massage first. I sent you a pm with details about my experiences with diet and exercise. It was too lengthy to post here. I have to admit - that’s the best picture I (and DH) have taken in a long time. It was taken by our waiter at a restaurant on our anniversary. You know, had on makeup, hair fixed, low lighting and great camara angle. But when I look at it I don’t look as young as I picture myself in my mind’s eye - lol! But it’s better than I look in real life and in other pictures. And unless I have plastic surgery, it’s not going to get any better. You know, “Second Wives Club” was on t.v. not long ago, Goldie Hawn said, “There are only three ages for women in movies - babe, mother, and driving Miss Daisy.” The first time I saw that movie I was “mother” which was fine. Now, 10 plus years later - I’m in Miss Daisy territory. What a difference a decade makes. Welcome Buttermilk! That old lose and gain thing - I hate when that happens! I gained around 12 - 15ish pounds (not positive cuz I had my hands over my eyes and I didn’t write it down) since January 1 of this year! Amazing how quick it comes back on. I tried to “be good” and lost a couple of pounds then got seriously on plan (OP) which for me is Ideal Protein (IP) and have lost 5 -7 depending on what I really weighed! Anyway, you are not alone. Are you on a particular diet plan? I am an emotional eater too. Karen 3 - I think it is just horrible about that neighbor and his dog. I agree to call the police. In my area, if the police are called twice for just barking dogs (like an all day thing) they tell you the third time you have to find a new home for your dog. I’ve never actually heard of that happening. But what you are experiencing is really serious, for all of you! I’m really ticked off about that beast and his owner. Weren't we going to get a Golden Chick Commando down to your house a while back? I say we come down to take care of that neighbor. Maryea - hope your test goes well. AndI - congrats on weight loss. Hope you like the BHRT - I do. If my doctor cuts me off in a few years like he originally said he’s going to - I swear I’ll buy it on the black market. Actually, I’ll just have my endocrinologist prescribe it. He did originally. I’m sorry if my posts are long sometimes. I love talking to you chicks! |
The stress test is over. I was there only 2 1/2 hours and had no problem with any of it other than it taking 3 sticks to get the IV in but that happens sometimes. My bp was high all the time I was there (not just on the treadmill) and I had an occasional head and neck ache but nothing different than I have these days. All the pain is minor but definitely not normal. On the treadmill they got my heart rate up to 161. They wanted at least 120, but preferred 150 and they got that and more! I felt I could have gone longer and even a little harder....the speed didn't seem fast at all to me but the incline did get higher than I normally walk these days....but guess that was enough for them.:D My heart rate/BP did go up pretty fast. But apparently nothing stood out as really bad as they didn't call in the cardiologist. So now I have to wait about a week (probably) before I hear the results. I'm still having the mild chest pain along with some breathiness. My dh notices it when I speak too so it's not just me. As long as it is only the chest pain and slight sob I still tend to think its my hernia, but the head stuff is still confusing to me. They did say that if you are not getting enough oxygen to the heart it can also cause head symptoms...didn't need to hear that..
Meantime, starting tomorrow...today's pretty well shot with my wierd eating pattern and maybe dinner out tonight.....I'm determined to start watching my intake more carefully than ever. This has been another wake-up call no matter whether it's my heart or not...the extra weight I carry around my middle is not helping anything. Deelee - I feel Miss Daisy getting closer and closer!! Think I need a driver...I'm so forgetful and have a hard time focusing these days. I'm wondering if it's the statin drug I'm taking. Yesterday I was going to Safeway Pharmacy to pick up some med. Our CU is in the same shopping area and I go there more often than to Safeway. When I started out I knew where I was going and why, but as I drove into the parking lot, I automatically starting going in the direction of the CU to park. Then I thought, why am I going to the CU? I can't think of a thing I need to do there." Finally I pulled over to think abit and then remembered it was Safeways I needed to go to, not the CU! That's getting pretty bad... Marie - What wonderful gifts for your gs! You know you are setting a precedence...now other gc you have will likely expect the same.. Buttermilk Sky - Love your name!! Welcome!! Your age is right in line with the rest of us. I think I am maybe the oldest here? Not sure think there was one older who used to pop in now and then, but I'm pretty regular so perhaps I can claim the distinction. ;) I am 69. Well, we are expecting company soon and then maybe going out to eat. Talk later..you all have a wonderful evening and thank you for all your concern for me. |
Ladysheets, I'm so bad with names...I think it's Brenda? Sign your name at the bottom for ignoramus like me please. Congrats on the 3 lb. loss.
Lynn...we had some left over peanut butter noodle dish tonight with antelope stroganoff over the top, yummy. It actually tasted better today and we still have enough for DH's lunch tomorrow. |
Good evening GG’s,
Yippee ~ off tomorrow. Got out of work on time tonight. Again ~ yippee!!! We had a pretty good day. Have physical therapy tomorrow ~ in the pool. Love the pool. I was talking to one of my coworkers and she said she was going to the “Y” for water therapy. I asked her which one and it is the same one I can go to. She is about my age, and I enjoy working with her. Maybe we will both end up there at the same time sometime, that might be fun, and maybe would make me want to go more often. Mom had an episode of high blood pressure at her dr’s visit last week. She was back again for a check up today and it was elevated again, so the dr has put her in the hospital for observation for over the weekend. She sounded good when I talked to her. She has a wonderful attitude ~ I need to try to be like that ~ she has always said that she isn’t going to worry about stuff until there is something to worry about. Now if that darn alzheimers would just go away. Feels kind of weird ~ talking to mom right before I go to bed is part of my daily routine. I joke around with her that she has to tuck me in each night (she is in Ohio ~ so it is long distance by phone ~ LOL). I told her tonight ~ I guess I would have to tuck myself in :( Thank you all for your encouragement ~ what would I do without my GG’s? Getting sleepy, so I guess I will head to bed soon. Sorry, I’ve run out of steam for the personals. Hope you all rest well tonight. |
Thanks for the warm welcome.
I'm reading all the posts so I can get familiar with you all. I'm not on any particular diet. I'm just eating healthy. I did try the Jorge Cruise Belly Fat Cure for a few weeks and lost some weight when I first began my program. I found that I don't like to count carb and sugar grams so now I just do my own thing. I can't exercise yet because I hurt my Achilles heel a couple months ago and the doctor said I can't walk yet. I also just had a biopsy for cancer and got a terrible infection. I'm allergic to gauze, all kinds of tape, antibiotic ointments, and surgery thread so I'm still healing from that. I'm almost finished with the antibiotics and will be good as new soon. Hopefully I can begin exercising soon which will speed up the weight loss. I live in CA so the weather has been pretty good and I'm looking forward to enjoying spring and summer. Linda :) |
Hello My Friends!
Wow, I am gone for a couple of days and this is sure a busy place. How wonderful! I have been just so busy working a ton and also having internet problems at home. Sorry for my absence. I will try to get in all my personals because I will be busy all weekend in the league pool tourney. Wahoo! The Wyoming site visit went really well. It was kind of tiring and I was glad to see them leave for home. I will probably go help them this summer. Freda, I went to the Hunger Games movie. Have you seen it? I thought it was amazingly like the book and not nearly as violent as I expected. Gayle, moderation and a lack of guilt is the only thing that gets me through this. Please be kind to yourself. Only someone as kind and loving as you would call her mom every evening. Karenfl, Oh, My, I can't comment on the dog without swearing a blue streak. I got such a kick out of the idea of you jumping in the pool:D Good job on the win! Linda, nice to meet you. Be well. Andi, Yay! on the weight loss. You are almost there. DeeLee, what a great picture of you and the hubby! Rosey, I loved your story. I kept hearing that "bump and grind song" in my head when I was reading. What a great victory. If you keep losing weight, you and steve (mr cranky pants) will have to lock the dogs in another room for a little privacy. ;) Bobbi, how is Charlie? I hope he is well. Marie, the quilt and glass is so sweet and lovely. I think you are starting a new tradition. I desperately want to learn stained glass and I have wanted to turn my gma's favorite quilt patterns into glass. I must get that done! Donna, sorry that grannymom's appointment didn't go better. Maybe the next one will be better. I am glad that the fire is away from you.... I was thinking about that but I figured it was far away. I sent my friend in Denver a gift today. She is a knitting fanatic. I found a yarn tote bag with the caption: "Knit Happens!" :D I sure hope she likes it. I thought you would appreciate that humor. Mary, thinking of you. I hope you get good results. See, you are in pretty good shape. It is all that treadmill walking that you do. Your dd is so sweet. Carol, how is your abdomen? are you getting better? You are always so good about everyone else.... don't forget to keep us updated. Brenda, great job on the weight loss! So glad that you joined us. Isabella, I am baking with my mom tomorrow. I sure hope that I can keep stuff out of my mouth.:^: Like you, I don't understand the folks who spend everything at the beginning and then are destitute the rest of the mounth. :?: Lynn, I am way behind on logging my miles but I will get caught up. Were you the one talking about handle with care by Jodi Piccout? Great book. How is school going? Well, I can't scroll back any farther so I will close here. Just wondering.... Has anyone had any trouble with hair loss? Mine is really getting bad and I am worried.:?: Rie |

Happy Friday GG's!
Rie about hair loss: At one time I tried the Atkins diet, and did lose some weight. I discontinued doing it when I started seeing abnormal amounts of hair coming out in the shower. Frankly, it scared me, but as soon as I began to eat more normally, it stopped. If you google this, you'll find that lots of Atkins and very low-carbers have encountered this problem. Atkins is very low carb and relies on the body going into ketosis - that is, in the absence of carbohydrates, ketones will form from fat to supply energy. But what has historically triggered this in our bodies? Here's one idea: "Before the invention of agriculture, in the first few hundred thousand years of human life, periods of severe food shortage must have been uncomfortably common. Human beings had to be able to burn their own body fat for fuel on those recurrent occasions when the larder was bare. Naturally, our bodies devised a highly efficient system for doing just that." Severe food shortages would also be severe times of stress. Could it be that by triggering ketosis, we're also triggering a stress response, Telogen Effluvium? that makes us lose hair? Hmmm..... ----------- I've cut out sugar and have been restricting my carbs to complex ones now and have not had this problem. Lost another pound this week, and I think it's due to the increase in fiber in my diet. I'm also walking about an hour a day thanks to Lynn's post HAHA. It is a lot of fun. Hello to everyone and welcome Butter! |
Hi Everyone,
Today is packing for my FL trip and getting the cats and their supplies over to my DD's. Have a good week, Lynn |
Karen3, I wish I could jump in a pool but I'd have to either chop a hole in the ice or float around in a pool of slush, brrrr. I bought some Florida strawberries the other day and thought of you. That was quite a lesson on Armadillos. I never knew they were such an aggressive creature. I'd be frightened to death if a (any) dog attacked me or a pet. I like dogs as long as they're smiling at me. LOL .
Rosey, do post a picture of your new bra even if you just prop it up and stuff it with socks. Hi and welcome Buttermilk. Sounds like you've had a rough time but are getting better. Gayle, I was going to mention that you might like to exercise more if you had a buddy to go with you. It seems as if you might have found one. I know for some people just knowing that someone else is depending on them can really help. I wouldn't worry about exercising every day. I think if you do several times a week it will be beneficial. Freda, I was looking for a clock awhile back and found the same problem. There's not much out there unless you want to spend quite a bit of money. And even if you had the money most of the nice clocks were online. Marie, the stained glass is so pretty and the green and yellow are exactly the same hue as the quilt. My friend who spent her check will charge food during the month if she runs out and then she has to pay that off. It's a vicious cycle with her. Bobbi, I don't have much hair on my legs either. I usually shave only in the summer and only when absolutely necessary. Funny joke, lol. Oh, and thanks for the comments on Lynn's Peanut Butter noodles. I'm going to make it soon and it's good to know it makes a lot and needs more sauce. I love sauces. Hi Donna. You keep me busy looking up the acronyms you and the other medical people use. LOL. Some I know but others are a mystery until I google it. Dee, I wouldn't like to have both bathrooms under construction. Hopefully, you'll get your privacy back soon. Your avatar is lovely. Actually, I thought you looked quite youthful in your picture. I think the "Miss Daisy" phase is not upon you yet. Carol Sue, maybe you could go to Karen3's place and train the Armadillos in pitbull attack strategies, lol. That was so funny. Mary, glad your stress test wasn't too bad, but I'm a bit worried about your other symptoms. Have you made an appointment to see your doctor? I'm always doing the same as you--going to the wrong place. LOL I thought it was just normal. Rie, I was baking cakes yesterday and it was an awful day for good food choices. I'm seriously thinking of taping my mouth shut when baking, lol. I hope your day goes much better than mine and you can stay away from the baked goods or at least just have a small portion. Hi Andy. Hope your day is going well. Lynn, have a good trip. Had a very bad day yesterday. I baked 4 cakes and a couple dozen cupcakes. The vanilla cake screamed to be eaten with the buttercream icing and I fell. One of the cakes didn't turn out well so I baked another one. I should have thrown out the bad cake but that the one that was screaming out my name. . . sigh. . . The cakes are for a bake sale happening tonight. I mentioned I was singing at a benefit concert tonight and afterwards there will be a bake sale. Last night I was talking to the young man who needs the skin removal surgery and he told me he hasn't had a piece of cake or a cookie in two years. And there I was, me who had stuffed my face all day long on cake and icing. It gave me something to think about. I was so tired from all that baking (and I did some cooking as well) I didn't get on the bike. This morning my feet still hurt but I'll be on the bike this afternoon. Gotta run and get DH his dinner. Have a good day. |
Rosey, I’m glad that Toots is learning how to do her business. Puppy messes are never fun.
Deelee, what is BHRT? I just started HRT patches and wondered what the B is and how it is different. Mary, perhaps it is time to deal with the hernia. I’m glad the stress test is done and that will hopefully rule out a heart issue. Gayle, enjoy your day off. I hope all is well with your mother. A lot of people find exercising with a friend keeps them on track. Perhaps a water therapy buddy would be great. Hi Linda, I’m guessing you don’t live in Northern CA since you said the weather is good. I live on the OR-CA border and the weather has been nasty for basically a month with no end in sight. Hopefully you heal soon and the biopsy was benign. Rie, kick some butt in the pool tourney this weekend. I predict a stellar performance from you. Also, I mentioned losing a lot more hair since my surgery to my dr the other day. Loss of estrogen causes hair loss but he thought it was too soon after my surgery for that side effect of menopause. Andi, way to go on the eradicated pound. Lynn, have a great trip to FL. I bet you have a ball. Isabella, sing beautiful for the fund raiser. When I used to decorate cakes, I learned I had to have a very potent piece of gum in my mouth to stop the nibbling. I’m not fond of cinnamon gum but I started chewing it so it would kill the desire to munch. I still do that when the choc chip cookie dough looks like it should stay unbaked and served into my mouth with a backhoe. Marie |
I'm almost out the door to sing but I thought I'd stop off here and record my stats for the day. I'll be singing "His Eye Is On the Sparrow."

I'm feeling better today....one chest pain and a bit of dizziness after exercise but that's all. My bs and BP were both good too. My weight was very high today. My sig is a joke now! I weighed 168 this morning!! So higher than even before MF! Even though I am not eating any more than I have many times. I wish I'd never done MF because it seems like the pounds jumped back faster than ever since then. I realize I didn't follow the instructions when going off the plan so my bad I guess. At least my recent symptoms have motivated me to be more careful about my eating again. Hopefully I will stick to it now, but I'm like you Marie...I don't want to do any special diet where I have to eat or drink their foods...I want to just eat my own foods, perhaps a supplement now and then like Slim-Fast if I want ...and just go back to eating mostly healthy but mainly just not so much. I always used to be that way..but then I got convinced to try something that worked for others. Not that it's necessarily bad to experiment but those type plans are not for me.
Perhaps if I can get my weight down, my hernia might not be such a problem. If it still is, surgery is probably again in my future.:( My dd's mil was here last night to pick up plants we were holding for her and we had a nice chat. We were hoping to take her out to eat but she had other plans, so we went after she left. It is wet and cold out again today. The gutter people are coming tomorrow...I hope they can do a good job if it's raining. Dh is concerned about it, but they said they work year round at it and if they waited for a nice day up here, they wouldn't get much work! Retiredone- That's why I rarely bake! When the gk are big enough to eat a lot more maybe I will but right now the ones who visit mostly only eat a little, their parents eat almost no cookies/cake so you know who ends up eating them. Dh will eat a few but nothing like me. He forgets all about them, can you imagine? :?: They call my name until they are gone! Now I buy the mixes or frozen variety and since I'm rather lazy they don't tempt me much. And with the cookies there are only a few so I can't do as much damage even if I do bake them. Funny thing is if I bake cookies and freeze them I will still eat them ...but if they are unbaked frozen they don't seem to call to me.:?: Guess laziness is not always bad. ;) No, I don't have a doctor's appt, but I think he'll be calling very likely. If he decides it's my hernia, he'll want to give me the name of a surgeon. What I want to do is to be able to ask some questions, not just be referred but I have a feeling that may not happen. I used to really like my doctor's approach to health but have to admit I'm a little less than satisified with him right now after all this. But I will see how things go... Lynn - Have a good safe trip! Webwoman - I didn't have the hair loss problem with MF as far as I know, but I do notice now that I am letting my hair grow longer that it is thinner on top. I can see my scalp more than I used to. But perhaps that is just part of aging? I don't know ..I've had it short for so long I never noticed it before. But I am a believer in just eating as healthy as I can and using common sense. I think so many of these diets go off on targents of restricting things and common sense is not used. In my case, my weight gain was not so much due to eating badly as it was to just simply eating too much. I don't think it's so much a matter of restricting certain foods as it should be about eating mostly healthy in moderation. Need to get to work. Haven't done a thing here at home day. I'm thankful I'm feeling better and am grateful for another day in which to hopefully make better choices. You all have a good day!! |
Hi Golden Chicks! You know, my posts were shorter before you all taught me about cutting and pasting. You scared me that you were going to do your major posting on fb and just a little on 3fc.. Because of it I joined fb - sort of. My DS did it for me then left. I don’t know what I’m doing and it scares me. I prefer to be here.
Marie - LOVE the quilt and stained glass! You are both very talented. The “B” in BHRT is Bioidentical. I bumped up the “Hormones and Weight Loss” thread so you can see more about it. Rosey - so happy for you that your DD is coming. Have a wonderful time. Lol about the puppy with one leg on the paper. Very cute. But I guess it will only be cute for a little while. I really, really, really, love dogs. I keep thinking about getting one. But we do travel often. Not necessarily long trips but we zip here and there. And I enjoyed training them - not so much cleaning peepee and diarrhea out of carpet - but they’re easier to train than kids. And more grateful!!!! And never leave you. Now I kind of understand why some very wealthy people leave all their money to their pets! Bobbi - Is your MIL still alive? Don’t think about her! I had one very sweet grandma, (the Swedish one, of course!) and one that was, er, very controlling. I don’t have loving thoughts when I think of her. She was also self-centered, selfish and stingy. She was tough on my DM. Isabella - thanks and right back at you. Sorry about your bad day. You are so generous to do all that baking and cooking. There is no way I could do it without sliding into the abyss! I remember once each semester, right before finals I liked to bake and send chocolate chip cookies to my DSs. My youngest graduated from college last May. I was really on a roll with my diet and did not want to get derailed. DH said to just send him something from a store.. But I knew this was his very last semester. He deserved it and I wanted him to have that memory. So I asked DH to help. He agreed. We decided to make the dough, bake them and get them in the mail all in one day. I told older DS if he wanted any, he had to stop by that night to pick them up. I had one cookie. Then they were sealed and gone. Never in my life have I ever had just one home made chocolate chip cookie. Believe me, if they had been in the house, or any dough, or chocolate chips, I would have had more. I did that for my church too. They send cookies to the college kids once a year. I made ‘em one day and dropped them off at the church. This year, since I had no kids in college, I offered to supply the shipping boxes. At the time, my older DS worked for a company that made them so I could get a lot at a reasonable price. I got them enough to last for years! I can summon up enough will power for a few hours but I have to have them out of my house by bed time. And I have learned to THROW GOOD, YUMMY STUFF OUT. It was hard to learn. But the amount of blood, sweat and deprivation that goes into losing it has convinced me. So don’t beat yourself up. You’ve done something wonderful - but if you have any frosting left, (one of the best things in the universe) THROW IT OUT NOW. I’m sure you will be wonderful singing and it will be a lovely, rewarding night. Have fun. Don’t buy any cakes. Rie - Thanks. I know that people that have lost a lot of weight have had hair loss. I know some of the women on the Ideal Protein diet, that have lost a lot of weight have had hair loss but I believe it stopped at some point. After losing 38 pounds, I did not notice hair loss. (I regained 15ish and have lost 7 of that and haven’t noticed any more hair loss than usual. I have baby fine hair and a lot of it and have always been a “shedder.“) Getting my hormones right seemed to help. Good luck in the tournament! Buttermilk Sky - I like your name. I’m sorry you had such a rough time with that biopsy. Are there substitutes they can use for all the things you are allergic to? I hope your biopsy turned out okay. Hope you feel better soon! Maryea - I so know how you feel. I think in your case you have been dealing with a lot physically & mentally.Plus, I’m sure your routine was thrown off. It was ironic that I heard Goldie mention “Driving Miss Daisy.” Last year after my shoulder surgery my DH had to drive me everywhere. He called it “Driving Miss Dee.“ I have to write everything down - and remember to check it! Workmen are gone for the weekend. Yay! Hope you all have a nice weekend. |

Morning, I'll set up the April G.G's and come back to read post. A zillion things to do today, going into town right now. DH has 3 more signs I need to do, the gun club signs. I wanted to print out the signs on the computer, glue them on the boards and put some clear sealer over it to weather proof them. Nope, he said that wouldn't work, BLESS HIS LITTLE HEART. Then we have to get the gutted 32' chevy finished. The car was in the paint shop for over a year, it took them that long. We have all the precut panels, the material, tacks, etc...now to get it put together. Unfortunately the work will be done at the rented storage unit we have in town so I won't be home at all. That means I won't be able to spend much time on the computer, my intertainment. :(
One thing before I go for the day...Marie:snow4:This is what I think of the last word you played on 'Words with friends'. |
bobbi once you put up the next month's thread I never know whether I should post there (even though it's not the first yet) or here. Hope this is ok. It's a dark rainy morning but the Leaf Guard gutter people are coming in about an hour to replace our gutters. We still haven't gotten anyone out to replace the rotten wood but apparently we can still go ahead with the gutters from what they have said. With all this expense we may decide to wait til May for the wood to be replaced. The weather will hopefully be better by then too but you really never know.
I didn't get everything done yesterday so plan to play catch up today. I ate better yesterday and my weight dropped a pound or perhaps it was just sodium. It does seem like I've been eating more salty things recently for some reason. The chest pain and dizziness is almost gone so thankful for that. My dh is wanting to learn to play Farmville? I don't play any of the FB games so know nothing about it. Does it cost to play? He said he saw something about buying things and doesn't want to pay. Rosey - Your puppies sound so cute! Yesterday a young woman rang our doorbell and she had a little black/gray poodle and was looking for it's owner. Someone had given her a leash to use. I don't know who it belonged too but it was so cute I felt like claiming it! Me, who wants no kids, no dogs, nothing to tie me down.... Karen3 - Glad you had a good week of bridge! Sounds like you keep busy. I hadn't heard about the citrus problem..well, I'm glad you didn't do it..:D Finished my breakfast smoothie so better get something done around here. |
