"Oh, Freda, the cakes, cookies, chips, etc., all those things that taste SO good!, are such demonically-inspired bad things, yes? I always think "just one little baggie now, and I'll portion the sack to last a week"... ha! It's "oink, snarf, gobble" all the way to the end. I can't trust myself to have that stuff in the house; unlike our Bobbi, I have NO won't power, and I haven't had much success in cultivating it!" - PT
PT, You are SO not alone, my dear!!! Like Lynn, I am at my best eating at home where I only allow *good* food around. Now, I'm afraid that having DS and his significant other here for the duration is creating a few dietary challenges for yours truly...while they are both healthy eaters who alternate between eating in the vegan manner and just eating "healthy and organic whole foods" they are pretty adventurous in the kitchen and enjoy whipping together things like Thai Shrimp or sushi, or fajitas - naturally from wholesome ingredients, but even so, delicious enough to warrant LARGE servings and often seconds (except for the sushi; I can't do raw :barf:). AND, once I overdo, I find it easy to continue overdoing until my stomach rebels and groans and whoomphs about viciously, which is not pleasant. Then, and only then do I say "enough!" and leap enthusiastically back on the "healthy lifestyle" wagon. Lynn, you will easily shed those two pounds! Nobody should be sentenced to Nutrisystem food! "It's not fit for man nor beast..." (Phrase unashamedly stolen from W.C. Fields). But again, as we've been saying, it's not the losing that will drive us all insane  - it's the maintaining! Freda, I have to say that 125 sounds "teeny-tiny" to me, but of course height plays a role, so teeny-tiny for me is closer to just right for you, or even heavier than you want to be. But of course you've reached goal before, and you'll reach it again. One thing I think that we all share here is a distinct discomfort with being heavier than we'd like. And that's what keeps us sticking with the battle, so to speak. At least we're not alone, eh? :) I know you're having a busy weekend, Bobbi. All that baking! I would be puting one on the tray and one in my mouth until they were all gone and I was bloated up like a baloon. :o Speaking of "won't power"... Hi Rosey & the Karens, and hope all is well, Isabella! :grouphug: Z |

Looks like a quiet day here. I would have problems resisting your kids' food. Sounds DELICIOUS! However, all that healthy food would work for me. I would woof it down, but it would fill me up. I know that calories are calories, but, for me, healthy food fills me up more & does NOT lead to carb-cravings. My downfall is eating low-fiber/high-glycemic-index carbs (sweets, white stuff - bread/potatoes/rice/pasta). When I do that it triggers my cravings for more carbs. Lynn |
Good Day, All.....
Late for me, but I took Granny and SisterBarb to Manitou Springs for a berry salad, to celebrate Granny's birthday.... YUM!!! I'm intrigued that you, PT, can eat until your stomach rebels and then... stop! I can easily push through that barrier and continue to consume until I'm almost sick. I've started to ration out what I want, such as potato chips (!), and then CRUSH AND DESTROY the rest in the bag and toss it. I know that's wasteful, but it's better than eating it! For someone who has taken care of herself her entire life, without anyone much around to help, very controlled and in control, I can sure sabotage myself and be totally irresponsible when it comes to food! I'll never understand myself! I'm glad you are all here! Quote:
Lunch was hours ago, and I'm hungry, so I'm off to dinner! Hope you've all had a good Sunday! Hope your week is good! Be safe, my lovely friends! |
Hello Gals,
First I'm doing well but not sure about the weight. I didn't weigh this weekend when I was home. I know I ate more than I should have on Friday. Got home a day early this week as DS took Friday off work so I went home. I made 6 loaves whole wheat bread Friday morning and had several slices along with other "home" foods. I was really busy all day Friday cooking for the coming week for DH and a few things for MIL. My MIL was sent home from the hospital on Thursday to await surgery. She'll more than likely have one of her kidneys removed. She is supposed to have someone with her at all times as she's very weak yet although one of her kidney's is now working. Fortunately, there are five of her children living in town so they are taking turns staying with her. While I'm gone DH is going to sleep over every night during the week. Then he'll spend some time with her during the day also. We spent several hours with her on Saturday as well as other members of the family. I told DH it was like Christmas without a tree. At times there were her children, grandchildren and the inlaws at her house. She can get out of bed and sit for awhile but she tires quickly and has to lie down again. She hasn't smoked since she took ill and swears she'll never have another cigarette as long as she lives. I brought my 10 lb dumbbells back with me and my 1 lb dumbbells for Boo to play with while I'm working out. I gave them to him when I arrived and he threw them at his father. I'm going to have to teach that child the proper way to use them. This week I'm going to try and get in more exercise. Did pretty good last week but didn't get in much walking. But I guess pushing Boo up and down the road in his little car must account for some kind of uncounted kilometres. I bought a pair of size 8 jeans today and they fit really well except they were low rise. I hate low rise and didn't notice in the store as I didn't try them on. I'll take them back and look for something a little higher on the waist. Those low risers just accentuate the loose, flabby, fatty skin on my stomach and they always feel as if they're falling off. Bobbi, I get the check marks ✔ by cutting and pasting them from Word Perfect. You may be able to copy one from this post. Donna, I loved that recipe site. I can spend hours reading recipes. Well, I guess I don't have too many hours to do that now but I spend several hours curled up in bed with my laptop reading. Zoe, the kitten is soooo adorable. Lucky little kitty. To all you other lovely ladies, I've enjoyed reading the posts from the last few days. I really miss coming here every day. Take care and I'll really, really try to catch you all tomorrow. |
Good Morning Everyone,
Hot, humid, cloudy here today. I’ve got my soup, bread, and juice made for the week. No need to do more shopping/cooking. Tomorrow begins my class, so probably won’t be doing personals for the next 4 weeks. Have a good Monday, Lynn Quote:
Good for you! MUCH better to toss than to eat! My other trick is to package and freeze. I am MUCH less apt to eat when I must first defrost. Gives me time to think. Quote:
I’ll bet that if you wear a pedometer you will find that you are walking a lot. Just being around little ones requires LOTS of steps! |
Morning all....Just fast check in. Staying Op and heard from DD that she is back on track and lossing. Hopefully we'll see them in August and both of us will be looking goooood!
Have hit a plateau and scale didn't move, but clothes feel so different. Sighhh and wanna buy some new tops, but wanna wait for more lbs off...sighhh Wish they came off as easy as you can gain. sighhhhhhh Off to bridge will come back later ....karen3 ps no oil slick here(yet)...but County says they have a plan. What's the plan you ask and get answer we have a plan....yeah right...plan is to open scallop season 2 weeks early. Probably last shot at scalloping for many years. Some plan Huh! k |
Good Morning, All....
KarenFL, how very awful about that oil spill that NO ONE seems to be able to control! I saw the interviews last night with the govs from Ala, Fl, and Miss... NOT happy, understandably, and very, very frustrated and worried! What we do to ourselves....! Nothing interesting on the agenda today, just errands and, sigh, more errands! All is well, though... no complaints! PT, everyone.... hello! Have a lovely Monday! Be safe! |
Good Afternoon!
I just got back from my physical, everything in good shape including my cholesterol (204) but had to make an appointment for breast exam. Ouch! I hate those pinching machines, I swear my breast are going to blow up and pop like a balloon. Yesterday we had rain showers thru the day for GS graduation party outside, Tiffany rented a huge tent so we all stayed dry. Wanna know what I ate? EVERYTHING, DANG:rollpin::rollpin::rollpin:Chocloate bon bons, chocolate Special K bars, chocolate brownies, Cinnamon Tom Thumbs donuts, pineapple bars, peanut butter bars... I had some of each. I had 3 tacos too, one each of chicken, beef and bean with all the fixins'. Today I had my regular yogurt/strawberry/Fiber One cereal for breakfast, I'm skipping lunch and only eating something new I found at the food coop today for supper. It's instant Curry Lentil soup, all seasoned, You just add hot water. Doc told me this morning to include beans/lentils, etc. If I like these for a quick lunch I'll go back and try the mixed bean instant soup too. I purchased a conversion table last week, any of you have one? If so, how do you like it, how long do you hang upside down? It sure feels good on my back, DH hasn't tried it yet. I'm going to go down stairs and move stuff around so it doesn't sit in the middle of the room. They are huge! Later gator! |
Hi
Hi everyone,
I was so busy over the weekend, I didn't get to the computer. So, it's my lunchtime, and I'll try to catch up. Ellabella, I can really relate to the not having "bad" stuff in the house to eat. I'm pretty good most of the time, but if it's there, and I decide to take "just a taste", HA! Whatever it is is usually gone, when I'm through. My fiancee always has ice-cream around, and he eats it in his "man cave" so I don't have to watch. I could live on ice-cream! Lynn, I really admire the "stop when you're full approach." I eat more when I'm full, because I love the taste, then afterward, it's UGH! I'm getting better, though. Bobbi - I hate those GREAT Everyone bring your favorite treat gatherings, because everything is always so good!! It's hard not to just charge ahead and enjoy. I have a short week this week. I'm taking Friday off, and we're headed to the Oregon coast for a concert, to see Hank Williams, Jr. and Dwight Yoakam at the Chinook Winds Casino. The sticky place there, is that marvelous "All You Can Eat" buffet and the SeaHag in Depoe Bay, that has the best fish & chips I've eaten down there. My plan is to go light, and have my Carb Blockers on hand to take before meals. I've had a couple of difficult weeks weight wise, but haven't gained. I guess that's a good thing. I weighed in on Fri. and lost 2 lbs., but I didn't weigh the Fri. before, so that was 1 lb. a week. I joined Curves again, and am going twice a week. Wish me luck, I'll probably not be here again until next week. |

Good Morning!
We're going on day 14 of rain, I've forgotten what the sun looks like. Freda...Oh Freda, been there, done that! We all have lost only to gain it back. The key to losing it again is doing exactly like you're doing. Get right back on program and I know you can whip off those 10 pounds in no time at all. I know what a bore it is to start counting calories again but you know it works. Quote:
Rosey.....nice picture of you and family, you all look so happy! I'm so glad you're able to start getting out instead of stuck at home. What a great motivator to stay on track with your exercise and eating plan. Do you keep some bar bell/dumb bell weighs handy? That's something you can do while watching T.V. Every little thing helps. Lynn had some good suggestion on snacks, I'd add some air popped pop corn. I buy the popcorn butter spray (0 calories) that helps seasoning stick to the popcorn. Isabella...I laughed when I read this, I found jeans in the junior section that fit me really well too but unfortunately they are low waisted. I purchased them anyway and added a belt to them so they wouldn't slide down, works great! Congrats on the size 8, feels good doesn't it:hug:We sure miss you not signing in everyday. Between you and Lynn, I'm ashamed at how lazy I am. I just turned 65 in May and don't want to do anything:coffee: Quote:
Lynn...You're so busy, when you gonna slow down? Geeez, I couldn't wait to retire. Quote:
Karen3...those darn plateaus are so discouraging, just keep hanging in there and you'll see a nice drop eventually. I think I went for 11 days once and I never, ever cheated. :( Quote:
Jess...errands can keep you out of the kitchen, just put your blinders on when you drive pass McDonalds.:dizzy: Quote:
Taxigal...I used to belong to Curves and I loved it there, you're fortunate you have one close by. We had to travel 10 miles to get to one so I quit when gas got so expensive. Do you go alone or with a friend? Quote:
I need to get started on a small project this morning, I have a low Oak book shelf that I'm using as a small room divider in the bedroom and I'm covering the back of it with some material to match the bedspread. You all have a great Tuesday! |
Good Morning Everyone,
Bobbi, I also couldn't wait to retire from my full-time job. However, for me, teaching is different. I hope to be able to teach for the rest of my life - when/where/and how often I choose (of course). This online system is PERFECT for me - doesn't even interfere with my travel. BEAUTIFUL day here - clear, sunny, and cool with a gentle breeze. I am taking my DF (JoAnn - friend with Alzheimers) to the movies. Hoping that she will be able to enjoy a comedy. Have a good day, Everyone, Lynn |
Me again, no I haven't started my little project yet.
I just checked into Lynn's July 4th challenge and Mary, a regular participant is posting her daily menu's on a June accountability thread. We did that once before on the Golden Girls, anyone interested in doing that? You can post your menu for the day, any exercise you're doing. I see some on Mary's thread are listing the calories per meal also, some are just listing what they ate because not everyone counts calories. At the end of the day we can look to see what we've eaten, that would explain why we're losing or not losing. I'm not going to start a thread here unless there's some interest. I can alway join the other one, unfortunately I think I'd get frustrated with reading other people's bad choices on that one. Geeezzz, one lady had 1/2 melt, fries, ice cream sundae with sauce on it. She stayed within her calories but it was all junk food. :?: I'd have to tape my big mouth shut! |
Good Morning, All...
Rosey, lovely picture of you and your family! I'm glad you're able to get up and out and that you're enjoying!! Lynn, is that your daughter with you in your picture? The smiles are identical! You're both beautiful!! Wow, NO news! I have ennui..... oh, my! Actually, I just need to get moving, and that will take care of THAT! All is well. Hello to all! Be safe, lovely ones! |
Me again. Sunny :goodvibes today after a lousy gray weekend and gray and foggy Monday. We’re supposed to get some better weather for Friday & Saturday. We’ll see about that. If we have another rainy summer like we did last year, I may have to move across country. I NEED my vitamin D !!! :tantrum:
Turtle-kitty is definitely misnamed. His coloring is tortoise-shelled, yes, but his energy levels and aggressive nature (undoubtedly what saved him in that storm when a kitty of lesser determination would’ve melted into a puddle) are decidedly un-turtle-like. We’ve introduced him to Yoko (the mean one) and Daisy (the quiet & retiring one – picture a big, BIG girl, gray & fluffy, lying back on a chaise lounge reading a romance novel and eating bon-bons) and Yoko, whom we expected to be the most oppositional, is actually quite docile with lil’ Turtle – allows him to jump at her and run after her and leap around corners at her, and never complains much until, as my DH says, she “loses patience” and attempts to give him a swat. Not that it does her one bit of good. Turtle just runs about like a madman and jumps back at her from some other spot. Daisy, on the other hand, perches up on the old antique chest that we use for a coffee table and hisses and growls whenever Turtle runs by. No love lost between those two! At this point all visits by Turtle outside of our bedroom are supervised by responsible humans, but it looks like he’ll be ready to fend for himself before long. Interesting about your MIL smoking until she just became ill recently, Isabella. I used to smoke many moons ago, and was smoking when I got my divorce from my ex some 12 years ago. My lawyer was a skier, and knew that I had been for a lot of years, and he used to tell me to quit smoking and come skiing with him. Of course my life was stressful enough at that time – I wasn’t about to give up smoking OR start dating my divorce lawyer. But, one day while I was in his waiting room, I was thumbing through a ski magazine that had an article about a French woman who was something like 113 years old. The interviewer asked her what she attributed her longevity to, and she immediately replied “I guess I’ve lived as long as I have because I quit smoking.” So the interviewer says, “Oh – so when did you quit?” And the old lady says “Last year.” :o So you (Isabella) and Bobbi are having difficulty because you’re junior-sized but don’t like junior styles, eh? Hah! I could diet myself down to a stick and never have to worry about stuff like that!!! You guys are downright inspirational! (I turned down a piece of cheesecake in the coffee room this morning after reading about the size 8’s that you-all fit into…….) Oh, Karen3, plateaus are what makes this whole thing so frustrating - I mean, SO much FUN!!! I mean, we all love being challenged, right? (PS – hide the scale. It does wonders for MY morale!) Bobbi, I thought conversion tables were for changing US dollars to GB pounds or some such! You’re hanging upside down on a conversion table? Whatever does it convert you into??? Pretty pic, Rosy. You keep up the good work, you hear? Lovely family, that. Nice plan for the day, Lynn. I hope your friend enjoys herself. Pretty day here, too, for a change. I’m going to sit outside instead of eating lunch and soak up a little of that vitamin D. There hasn't been much available lately. No news, PT??? Yeah, but I know you keep busy. AND I know you’re doing well with your eating. Reading about your pounds lost makes me grin and want to yell “Hooray!” (Can you tell I’ve been hanging out with the twinnies? And watching Barney a bit? “If you’re happy and you know it, and you really want to show it, clap your hands…stomp your feet…yell HOORAY!” And that’s all, folks……hey Karen 31 and everybody …y’all have a great day! :grouphug: Z |
