Evening all.....Norton warned me,too.....thought there might be a hot chick here...wrong again! Where is the announcement? Anyway looking back it sounded like we have a pool guy. You know the cabana boy who brings fancy drinks with umbrellas floating on top. Instead once a year we have an old guy who does the heavy maintance and checks caulking etc. actually the pool isn't much work and I feel so much better after doing my exerises with the hand weights. Here in Fl we get to use it about 10 months a year. Ours makes its own chlorine and has jets to vaccum itself. The water temp today was 84! Yeah, am looking for my yellow ducky and bubble bath!
First year down here we had our dog a German Wirehair trimmed. He was so embarssed he wouldn't go out until his hair grow back. Spent the entire summer in the pool and going out to do the dog stuff after dark. He hid when company came. Probably should have been treated for post shock trauma! Pick up scissors now and he's gone. Boy the older you get the harder this darn weight come off. I have been OP for 2 months with no cheating. Am losing 1-2 lbs a week and I know all the stuff about the right way etc, but inside this old body is a teenage who wants everything to happen now quickly asap now instantly...sighhhhhhh Whoa...afternoon storms just started...gotta close before i close this post. The sea breeze wall is sending hugh boomers this way. Hugs, karen3 |
Slim Your Waist with Green Tea
Here's an easy way to turn a routine workout into a powerful waist-whittler: Drink green tea. That's right. Ditch the Gatorade and instead sip several mugs of the green stuff throughout the day. Research shows that the wonder duo of green tea and exercise may target belly fat better, so it shrinks more easily than with exercise alone. Fat-Busting Brew In a study, overweight adults who engaged in an exercise program for 12 weeks lost more belly fat if they also drank green tea daily. The green tea seemed to boost overall weight loss and triglyceride control in the study group, too. The magic amount of tea needed for the effect? Enough to get about 625 milligrams of catechins plus a little caffeine every day (roughly 7 cups daily). The Power of Green Researchers think that catechins in green tea might blast tummy fat by acting on enzymes that influence the body's calorie- and fat-burning mechanisms. And catechins and caffeine together may boost the body's metabolism. Brew up a pot of tea the next time friends visit and you can all enjoy these extra benefits as well:

Good Morning, All...
Quick check in. The messing around I've been doing with the up/down weight nonsense seems to have stabilized again. You know, there should be better things for me to do with my life than this!! I hope you all had a good weekend. Gotta run! Later, my lovely ones... |
Another beautiful day in the NW! My dh had a better night last night...so that means I got more sleep too. I think the swelling in his leg may have gone down a tiny bit. He is able to move much more on his own now. We are hoping PT comes today but so far they have not called. If they don't come soon, he may not need them!:smug:
Bobbi - interesting post on green tea. I wonder if it still works the same if it is decaf. I'm not suppose to take caffeine (bladder issues) but I do get a little now and then. Mostly I drink herbal tea...my favorite is Good Earth Sweet & Spicy but I am willing to drink green tea if it will help and not hurt me. I didn't get the warning. Recently I have only been using a free Microsoft virus protector and wonder if it is doing it's job. Karen3 - 1-2 lbs a week sounds pretty good to me. In the past I have lost faster but not these days. Yes, the older I get the harder it is. I can lose but have to really work at it. Used to be I just cut down a little and the weight fell off. Well much to do today so can't stay here too long. Have a good day, gals! |
I didn't get any warning, either, about a problem with this site. Because I'm anal in the extreme, I rotate McAfee AND Malwarebyes AND Housecall... between the three of them, there's not much chance of anything getting through!
That's it for today!! |
Hi All,
Gonna get in here quickly, during my break. I weighed Fri. with another 2 lbs. gone. We're heading to WVa a month from today. My fiancee is having pretty bad stomach problems and feels sick to his stomach every day. I can't imagine how he does it. He tries to keep positive, but is down in the dumps. The Drs. have done test after test, but as yet no answers. He has an appt. with a specialist that he has seen before, on July 12th. I sure hope she can give him some answers. He won't be able to have much fun on our trip feeling the way he does right now. Anyway, thanks Bobbi, for the calorie thing. It explains a lot. MRC has a fairly new saliva test kit that I may end up trying. They can tell what is causing your weight gains, etc. We'll see. Took the grandson to buy a little splasher pool yesterday, then went home to settle in, started the bath water, decided I needed to get out and give the plants a drink, was watering in the back yard and remembered the bath. I ran into the house and there was about an inch of water on the floor. Luckily it only got a small halfmoon of wet carpet in the bedroom. Probably what saved me, was that it was running into the cold air return vent and sopped up in the bath rugs. That gave me about an hour of work ringing towels out, etc. I keep trying to do too many things at once, I guess. (sighhhhhh) Anyway, I couldn't get up this morning early enough to make it to Curves. Hopefully tomorrow I can get my butt moving a little earlier. |
Well, we've been having horribly hot and humid days hereabouts, and I am feeling soooooo lethargic. Don't want to do anything at all, and I've got a TON of stuff to get done before I take five days off over the 4th. The office is just about empty, too, with people taking vacations, so it's like working in a vacuum. No noise, no nothing but the air blowing through the AC vents. Enough to drive a person insane, and that's the truth. I am finally back to my basic daily eating....no more indulgences...I bought myself a bathing suit yesterday, and plan to wear it this weekend, come h*** or high water! I don't know why I have such a hard time wearing a bathing suit. I mean, everybody wears them. It's not like only skinny little teenagers wear them..... I have a horrendous time getting myself into one, though. But when we were up at the beach last Saturday and I was wading in to my knees while my GD frolicked about, jumping through the waves and all, I was really, really wanting to jump in myself. So I'm going to. Darn it. :p
Where are you, Isabella? You're okay, right? Well, it sounds like most of us have succumbed to the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer, eh? I know I have about as much ambition as nothing. Not much to say, either, I guess. :grouphug: Z |
Morning all...Quiet day in senior land. Boy does Dh learn good.I walked in the door from bridge yesterday and he yells stop. Shows me where he accidently spilled a container out of refrig that had olives etc and the oil poured all over. He wiped and washed the floor endlessly and was scared I'd do the 10pt fall again. Ahhhhhh after 52yrs he's still learning!
Zoe...what a great picture of you. Looks like the gbabies are keeping you young. My DD's nanny had a kid yesterday. She is still grumbling at me when I asked if that made her a grandmother. Lynn...How is SIL? Maryea...You said you were a nurse. What kind of nursing did you do? Bobbie...Thanks for the green tea article. I never used to drink the stuff but it is a wonder drug for side effects of South Beach diet and now drink at least a big glass everyday. Lots of chores today. Have to make a flying trip to Home Depot, Clean the kitchen counters, cook Dash's turkey thighs and do a couple of loads of laundry and wipe the dog snot off the windows. Ooops just looked back.....DD's nanny is a goat....she named the little billy William for some reason. Is the prince here from England William? I'll have to ask. She met Randy his uncle a few years ago at a horse show. Hugs all...karen3 |
Good Morning, All...
Quick check in... nothing of any interest to report! PT/Zoe, I LOVE your new picture! Do you have big plans for your mini vacation? Lolling around with TurtleBoy (and, of course, DH) doesn't sound bad! Rosey, Isabella, both Karens, and all..... hope you're well. Later..... |
Good Morning Girls,
Beautiful day here. It has cooled down and there is a gentle wind blowing. had to go to DGS's baseball game last night (yeah! they won again the first place team) and when we left it was still pretty warm. But we were able to get a spot under a tree and it started to cool down. Tonight is the firworks at the park and I plan to take the grandkids for a bit, to see all the things going on, and come home to watch the firworks from the front yard. This will be the first year I have sat out there and watched them without my friend/neighbor. I know it will be a bit hard to get through. It was an annual tradition that we all looked forward to. Doing great on my diet. Still haaven't weighed in. I know I am doing well with what I can, diet and exercise, and if the scale doesn't agree just yet, oh well. It will eventually. Taxigirl, Congratulation on the weight loss! Z, I know what you mean about bathing suits. Just going into the dressing room to try one on is torture. But i see people much more out of shape than me who seem quite confortable. It's just a hang up that we have to work on. and it's not worth not being able to frolock in the waves with the grands, right? Karen3, takes us awhile to train them, it's an ongoing process, right? But I tell my husband all the time "you're a smart man, you can figure this out". Bobbi, I know how good green tea is for you, but I just hate the taste. I do throw a green tea bag in the pot with the regular tea when I make it. Lynn, Hope everything is ok. Isabella, miss you! Jess, I agree with your saying on the bottom of your post. Life is too short to try to please people that you are never going to be able to please. Please yourself! Freda |
Hi Everyone,
My course is half over - 2 more weeks to go. I will post much more when it is over. SIL has not yet seen his specialist. He really needs to get info about what he should be be eating. Check back later - just lost a BUNCH of my post - ARGHHH!!!!! Lynn |
Hello all,
The sun is shining ~ it is a good day. I am feeling like things are maybe finally falling into place. I feel like I have kind of hit on the timing of things for a sort of routine. My grandson introduced me to Youtube. There I have found all kinds of music videos of music I love. I discovered that you could build a play list of these songs. So, I took my lap top onto the treadmill with me and listen to this music/videos. The time passes painlessly ~ and I look forward to getting to listen to the music I like. Yippee :D Also, I am trying to stay away from sugar/sweets. I feel like they mess me up and drag me down. I've been about a week without them and feel pretty good. Hope next time that cake, cookie, icecream or brownie calls to me ~ I can smack it away :D Now if I can just keep from letting my husband "bring me down". I was sharing with him that I felt like I had found the trick to using that treadmill ~ listening to the music. Instead of simply saying ~ good for you ~ he was all wanting to know if I was increasing my time or speed or what ever. For right now, for me (I am sort of at the very beginning of starting all over again) just doing it at all instead of sitting out the day makes me feel like I have accomplished something. Something (meager as it might seem to some) is more/better than nothing. Gotta start somewhere...... Ok, off for another chunk of 10 minutes. Hope you all are having a good day. Take care |

Taxigirl - Sorry about your poor df..that sounds terrible. I sure hope the doctors figure it out soon and can help him!
Sorry about the water mess but had to laugh just a little cause it sounded so much like me. I am SO easily distracted anymore. Ellabella...I too HATE to try on swimsuits! But then I always have even when I (long ago) used to be skinny. I never feel like I look good enough to bear so much skin I guess. Then I was TOO skinny (for the idea of the day anyway) and now I'm too fat. Karen3 - I worked in convalescent center so mainly worked with seniors. I loved the patients and the medical info but had a love/hate relationship with the rest of the job. The last 4 years I did not work on the floor really as I was a Patient Care Coordinator and only went on the floor to do admission assessments and the rest was paper work and leading meetings. I quit at 52 as my dh was retiring and I wanted to travel with him and I have never regretted it. Glynne - that's what my dh does...listens to music while walking whether on treadmill or track. I'm not much to listen to music unless I sing along with it so doesn't work so well for me! I like having someone to talk with as I walk or I challenge myself in some way...like walking so fast or at a certain incline for so many minutes, or on the track at the gym, I challenge myself to pass people in front of me. Whatever works...I bore easily when walking...prefer to walk outside with a companion as there are things to see and talk about...otherwise I have to keep my walking to no more than 10-20 min. I can certainly relate to what you say about sweets. I'm not ready to give them up but am really cutting back. Mostly I mess up when I'm eating out or have company and bake for them. Then I end of eating most of it if I'm not careful! But normally I try to limit any sweets to just a few bites or one small serving at least and count the calories. I got one of those Yoplait Delights the other day thinking it would be so good..chocolate raspberry and I don't really like them! Anyone else tried them? |
Good morning on this last day of June!
Taxi-girl...What? MRC saliva test kit sounds interesting. I already know what my weight gain comes from, junk food in the house. I use AVG Anti-virus, the free version. I used to have Norton but my cp guy told me it disrupts too many programs and to use the free version of AVG. I never have problems with it. You use all three programs you listed? Zoe...I have a black swim suit with boy legs, it came with a semi-sheer wrap around thingie that you tie around your waist. I love it and never feel naked. Check out a swim suit wrap around. Karen3 and Freda...I'm going to post a recipe I found on allrecipes.com for homemade Souther sweet tea using tea bags. It's really delicious and not cloudy due to the secret ingredient. I'll post it on the new July thread. Gayle...I only wish I had a hubby like yours that ask the important questions like upping my speed, etc. Originally Posted by : Rosey...my DD is having a rummage sale tomorrow, I gotta go dig out the junk that didn't sell last time around right now.
