Good Morning Everyone,
Freda - In the past, I have bribed myself with something good if I lose. However, it had stopped working for me - I think that there is nothing I REALLY want that I don't have. I have never been much interested in "things." I HATE shopping (probably because of being overweight for so much of my life & hating how I look in clothes). I don't have much company any more - so not too interested in decorating. My love is travel. Unfortunately, this tends to end in weight gains. This time, I decided to threaten myself with something I REALLY do NOT want. Seems to be working. When I get to 155, I may do it again to hit 150. Uh-oh - today I hit a "bounce up." Was 157 this morning. Luckily, I still have 16 days to get to 155. Lynn |
Bobbi, Glad to hear that you are doing OK. I sure thought about you last night while we were watching the news about all those tornados!! They are so scary!!!
Be back later. |
Good Morning, All...
Bobbi, how SCARY!! Weather stuff is terrifying! I'm so glad you (and yours) are all okay! Nothing to report. I'm off for another busy day of "stuff"... I need to be a bit more conscious of what I'm putting in my mouth, because I pulled out the hated scale and am up about a pound. I've been so very stable for so long that I need to pay attention! Hope you all have a good day! PT/Zoe, Rosey, Everyone...... be safe!! |
Hi Mary, we're in Carthage which is about an hour from Springfield. We have been down that way though to eat at Landreths "Home of the Throwed Roll"!! Lots of fun there and really good food. We've just moved back here a little over a year ago. My family is here and I'm loving it. I have family in Joplin and Webb City. We've had several get togethers and are planning another for the 4th of July--- my brothers birthday. This year will be kind of bittersweet though since I lost my Dad last year on the 4th of July. But I do know he would want us to celebrate his life and not be so sad.. So we will try to do that. Family means so much and it is important to spend time together.
Well, I'm glad that everyone seems to be doing OK. I'm hoping, even with yesterdays lunch, to show a bit of a drop on the scales tomorrow!! Have a Great Day!! |
Afternoon all...2nd day of massive thunderstroms. This time lots of rain. Got my pool workout done between storms before the water cooled down. If any of you have a dog afraid of thunder Down Them. Use a dryer pad and wipe their fur down. Apparently the static electric is what bothers them. Dash howls to be downed. Bobbie do you have a shelter? Watching for them is scary. We have lots of waterspounts and down drafts which are bad but not the midwest Big stuff.
Must note about my senior thigh moment. Dh saw that stove wasn't off before we went to dinner and never said a word or tried to shut it off. So it really was a double moment and I am not alone. He said it only says cancel not "off.".....hmmmmmmmmmmm...... Now Lynn you have me racking my brain for some way to pressure me into doing this diet diet/lifestyle properly. I have tried time outs and found I kinda liked them. Actually think motivation is an ongoing problem for most of us and it never gets easier. Mary...I remember you from before. Welcome home. Jess, Freda, Karen, Zoe and the new and improved Rosey. Was it Jess that noted the change in the pictures....she was right girl you are really looking good. Anyhow...hugs, karen3 |

Today's Message of the Day is:
Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably, And never regret anything that made you smile.. |

About Motivation - here are some of my ideas - Positive - promise yourself one of the following if you lose 5 lbs by X date - day at the spa; new piece of clothing; something you have wanted for a while. Negative - threaten yourself with one of the following if you do NOT lose 5 lbs by X date - eat something you REALLY do NOT like for at least 2 months; clean the refrig/oven/windows in one day (or do something else equally horrible); deprive yourself of something you REALLY want. Anyone else have any ideas for motivation? Lynn |
Good Morning--- Well, I got on the scales this morning and nothing changed. I guess it must have been that lunch at Culvers that wanted to hang around longer! But at least the scales didn't go up!!
Have a good Saturday and I'll be back later. |
Good Morning, All...
Happy Dad's Day to all those DH/DS/and DGS out there! Beautiful day here. It will hopefully not be too hot! I'm hanging around in the basement as much as possible these days! No real complaints yet, though (you haven't heard ANYTHING yet! I HATE summer!)... Hope everyone has a lovely day! Be safe! PT/Zoe, how's that TurtleBoy? Isabella, I miss hearing from you and hope all is well in your busy life! |
Hello again, y'all. semi-long stretch of time off what with my lethargy and inability to focus on work, which resulted in my calling out Thursday & Friday. Good days, both. Thursday was gray and damp, but it's been really nice and sunny for the past three days. Some cloudiness and a few sprinkles of rain today, but plenty of sunshine, even so. I've spent as much time as possible out in it, between the lake and a local festival yesterday, and a little more lake time today, I've had a good dose of vitamin D. I've been pretty good with my eating, too - no indulgences to speak of. Oh, wait! That's not even true. I had no breakfast today - my kids all stopped by with cards & gifts for DH for Father's Day, and then he and I headed down to the lake for a couple of hours. On the way home, we stopped at dairy farm-ice cream place and I bought him a super-dooper banana split for Father's Day. By far one of the best banana splits in the universe...two oversized scoops of strawberry cheesecake ice cream, two big scoops of kahlua fudge, two big scoops of pistachio with hot fudge sauce, caramel sauce, lots of whipped cream and nuts...oh, Lord...dying while one was eating something like this would just be the BEST way to go, eh? Well, DH ate most of it, and that's the truth. I had a few spoonsful of each ice cream flavor (and fudge & caramel sauce) and let it go at that. Soooooo good though. Don't ask me where I've managed to pick up the habit lately of NOT having to keep eating something just because it tastes good, but I seem to be doing better at it than I used to. :) For supper I just had a small Greek salad made with fat-free Feta cheese and spray balsamic dressing with something like 2 calories per spray. Might have a few sun chips before I head off to bed. Might not. We'll see.
So, back to work tomorrow. Ack. I'm still doing the count down to retirement. Can't be soon enough for me. PT - Turtle is endearing himself to one and all. The older khats are adjusting slowly, but there's some evidence that they find his antics amusing, at least. I guess that's a step in the right direction. Oh - and I guess that at least when it comes to summer, we're exactly the opposite - I think I love it, not so much because of the sunshine and all (although there IS that) but because at heart, I'm still a kid who looks forward to summer as a time when school's out, and you can devote yourself to having fun. Of course that's not the case for me any more - hasn't been for nearly half a century now, but somehow, that kid in me still equates summer with freedom and fun. :dizzy: Karen31, staying the same is WAY better than gaining! At this point, I'm sure I'd be perfectly content so long as I didn't actually gain anything. After all, we're not in any kind of race, here, right? Hah, Lynn. I think MY motivation has simply become the desire NOT to lose control of my size...remembering my mother's polyester pant suits when she was my age is actually a pretty good reminder of what I DON'T want to end up being like. Excellent message, Bobbi....I agree wholeheartedly. :D (And SO glad, incidentally, that you stayed safe during those awful storms!) Rosey, you have made us all proud, girl. Keep up the awesome work! Hope the weather has cleared up down in your neck of the woods, Karen3. I hope your weekend at work wasn't too strenuous, Freda - and hope that you get a stretch of days off now to make up for it? Did I congratulate you on your DGS's award? If not, then I meant to. SO awesome, eh? Gotta love those grandkids doing all their dynamite stuff...I think we can take a little credit at least, don't you? (I mean, WE help, right?) Isabella, you are sorely missed! I hope all is well - check in soon, you hear? Hi Mary - hope you've enjoyed your weekend. Bye for now, :grouphug: Z |
Good Morning Girls!
Zoe, I have to agree with you about summer. The last day of school as a kid was soooooooo much fun, we didn't do much and had a huge all school picnic outside with lots of games. Then a hot, sticky summer with nothing to do but play, I love hot weather! Sorry Jess, maybe we can exchange locations for the summer, I don't think Minnesota gets as hot as Colorado. My motivation? I'm a competitor and find competing with my alter ego keeps me on track. I can bet with myself to stay within 1200 calories or less and not go over no matter what. Stubbornness runs in my family and that too has a big part of getting my own way.:goodscaleWorks for me! I just got in from picking raspberries and could have won the ugliest get-up award. The mosquito's were in full force so I had my long chenille bathrobe on over my shorts, a large zeba print silk scarf wrapped around my head and neck. They got me twice anyway! I'm scheduled for a mamogram tomorrow morning and already dreading it. I'd like to take a poll: How many of you get a mamogram once a year? If not, how often? How about a yearly exam, cholesterol test? Yesterday was a bust for eating, I skipped breakfast because of lunch at DD's and afternoon party at my dad's for Father's day. Tiffany made a all Spanish lunch that was delicious but sooooooo fattening. Lots of olive oil. For supper I had what I usually eat for breakfast, Fiber One, Raspberries, yogurt. Today of course I'm up but being really careful today will put me back into good graces with my scale. You all have a good week.:grouphug: |
Good Morning, All...
Yes, I'd happily trade with anyone who lives in a non-hot locale in the summer. I can't breathe! I hate it!! It's like having a veil of heaviness coating my skin! Enough! This WILL get worse, trust me! PT/Zoe, glad TurtleBoy is doing well. I just knew he'd charm the hags! They do have a way of doing that! And I'll bet he's just so cute!! More pictures, please! Bobbi, your won'tpower is legendary! The fact that you admit to being a competitor is NO surprise! You're amazing, actually! And, no, I haven't had a mammogram in years (1) don't do doctors and 2) weighed too much and my rates would have been hiked if I'd gone in... could go in now, though!). I do get the blood tests every year at the HealthFair and have my cholesterol and etc. checked. Granny contributed good genes! Hope all the "missing" are okay! Everyone else, glad to hear from you! Hope your day is a good one... Be safe! PT, have fun being a kid! That's a good thing! |
Bad news - my son-in-law was taken to the hospital yesterday for sudden and intense bleeding. They are supposed to do a colonoscopy today.
Will keep you posted. Lynn |
Good Morning Girls,
I worked this weekend and don't usually post on those day. I don't get home untill 8 and just don't have time. It's good to come in on Monday and catch up. I am doing well with my diet, exercise. clothes are getting looser. Lynn, I guess different things work as motivation for all of us. We just have to fine out what really work and go with that. I do admit the threat of nutrisystem would be a good deterent for me too. I've never eaten it but i've seen some of the packages in stores and they are small! Don't know how they taste. Anyone tried it? Bobbi, Yum, fresh rasberries! I wish I could just go out back and pick some, but at least they are on sale in the stores here. Blackberries too. So good this year. Z, It's fun just being part of the grandkids day. They really keep me busy and we always have fun. We have gotten much more active since they came along. Bike riding, soccer, practicing baseball... Jess, I'm with you. I hate heat!!!! I feel like I am smothering. I get really cranky too. Did I mention I hate heat? Karen, hang in there. The exercise in the pool with show up soon. Mamograms....I don't get one as often as I should. I try to go at least everother year. Labs I get often, as I have some problem that keeps popping up. I keep promising my Dr. I will get a colonoscopy but still haven't. Freda Lynn, we were posting at the same time. Hope your SIL is ok. |
