Wow, walked 2 hours at the flea market and didn't eat very well, was up 2 lbs Sunday but ate well all day and today was down 3 lbs so for a good/bad weekend lost 1 lb! I guess that tells me you can't cheat and expect results. I will stick to the plan.
Have started a walk/running program to get my cardio back up so I can get back into tennis. Have set weekly goals and with summer nights I plan to keep at itl
Roxanna You know the strange thing sometimes is that I eat just about perfectly and gain and then I blow it and then lose, and the wonder why we are confused! Anyway congratulations on the loss and the exercise routine. God BLess. Tammy
Cajun: Your poor ankle! I don't know if it's the same for you, but now when I hurt myself even a little I get the ugliest bruises so I can imagine how your ankle looks. Just another thing to put up with as we age I guess.
Nothing new around here, but sometimes that's a good thing. Trying to do very strict low carb for the next two weeks, but DH isn't impressed with the dinners I've been making . I guess I'll have to go back and look at some of my old tried and true recipes that he used to like.
Still getting frosts at night and now I wish I wouldn't have bought things at the garden center because I have to bring them in at night.
Scale and spare tire keep hovering at the same point, but I refuse to get discouraged.
DORIS My ankle does not hurt, but it swells really bad during the day, I sleep with it on a pillow and by morning it's just about normal size, hubby wants me to go to the doctor, but I think as long as I am all black and blue there is not much they can do. Have a blessed day. Tammy
I'm back! We had such a good time, and it was great, seeing the family. Neal and I meandered on the trip home, and had fun driving through a couple little towns we had never taken time to visit before.
I've got an appointment in a bit, but will do individual replies later. I hope you're each having a great week so far.
This will be a quick flyby. I am headed out to do my favorite type of exercise... shopping. Going by myself so I can wander around the store without feeling rushed. lol I'm OP and although I'm feeling tired with my getting OP, I know I'll be feeling better soon.
Jane Welcome back. Hope you had a great time with your sister. Tony and I have taken back roads home before just to enjoy the scenary when we've had time. Kind of reminds you of the saying "Stop and smell the roses", doesn't it?
Trish - aww, it's so sweet, how you and baby Jaxxon bonded so quickly! I hope you will be able to see him again before too long. Counting calories and eating whole foods is what I do, too! Very easy-peasy. I'm glad Tony doesn't mind "stopping to smell the roses". Neal is not inclined that way, but did it for me, after I pointed out to him that we have a totally free schedule. One of the perks of being retired! Btw, I really enjoyed reading your bio!
Doris - ahh, wouldn't it be nice if the frost would kill only the weeds? haha You know, I was born and reared here in So. Indiana, but I can't take the humidity at all! Gimme an air-conditioned house/car/store at all times, lol.
Carol - I'm still giggling about you not seeing the molding in your craft room. I've had that same feeling before, lol. Sometimes it's hard to downsize our stash, but I did just that before our last move. I gave boxes of craft supplies and instruction books one of my sisters. Best thing I did! Yay for the "little" loss. In my book, any loss at all is worth celebrating.
Tammy - wow, I sure hope all your a/c problems are over. It's always something, though! Is the ankle looking better today?
Roxanna - congrats to you for the 1# down, and for starting a walking/running program! Whoo hoo!!
Hello to anyone else reading this.
I'm so excited! Our grape tomatoes are ripe in the garden, and mmmm do they taste scrumptious! I just love all the fresh produce and love even more how good my body feels for eating it.
Today I'm finishing the menu for our Memorial Day Sunday cookout, trying to balance old favorites with healthy choices. I think portion control is key.
We have a huge strawberry festival here and my mom who is in a wheelchair wants to go so I figure I can eat fruit and push the chair through the grass and it should all equal out (plus have some fun!)
I seem to have been MIA again. The house and the yard have been keeping me really busy so far this year! But I do enjoy chatting with you all and will make an effort to visit here more often.
We're in the midst of an early season heat-wave right now, but are expecting storms later this afternoon to finally cool us off. At least I won't have to water the garden and flowers tomorrow!
I'm looking forward to the long holiday weekend, and then next week I'm going to Cape May, NJ, for a weekend getaway with my daughter and youngest granddaughter. I'm really looking forward to that, and just getting away to relax!
I hope the rest of you are doing well, and that Tammy's ankle is healing and feeling much better!
Good morning, I have been MIA too. the last week has been busy, the fields have dried out some from all the rain, so I have had tractor time. I am still walking 6 days a week with friends, I am so glad to have them as I would have trouble keeping it up without them. I think I have a kidney inf, so I am calling the dr office when I get off here. We had two birthday celebrations last week- son turned 30 on the 20th and his daughter was 2 on the 22nd, on Sat we had a small cookout with grandparents and a few others for lunch and then a some what surprise party for son later, it was a great weekend. then the beginning of this week was so hot, upper 80's and humid, way to early for me for it to be so hot. we are getting a break now, only to 80 today and the humidity is lots lower! I will make an egg delivery after the guy comes to empty the septic tank, oh the joys of country living! we need to repair our drainfield-that is why the tank needs pumping as it was done less than a year ago. Both of our daughters are coming up for the long weekend, hubby has Sat and Sun off, and the corn planting is going on here at home, we plant later as being organic we want the corn to get a good start before we have to start rotary hoeing and cultivating. so soon I will be spending long days in the tractor as I do the majority of the hoeing and cultivating. I have read the other posts so am caught up with you all.
have a great weekend.
Pam
I am excited to say that I am actually doing IE/Eden Diet only. I am still centering on lowcarb whole foods, but doing the ziz zag/shifting calories, suddenly made IE/Eden Diet more clear to me and I understand why and how it works. I didn't count anything yesterday, just followed the signals my body sent me although I do pretty much plan what I will do for the day even though I don't write it down. I am happy to say that the scale is moving downward. As long as I am able to do it this way, I will. My new little motto I added to my signature is my main rule... I have relaxed and just seek doing what is right 90% of the time and I don't worry about the 10%. I believe I remember reading Dr Rita author of Eden Diet to do that.
Don't have any plans for the long weekend at this point. Just be with my DH.
Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to this site and dieting for that matter, I'm trying to lose weight that I have been gaining for 15 years. Dieting is so time consuming and I really hate it but it must be done. I'm glad there are other people willing to admit that too. I do go a little overboard once in a while then feel mad that I blew it. Do you guys think it's better to institutionalize a binge like once a month or just manage the cravings and let loose when the need arises?
Hi all. My cardiolite teacher is out for a few weeks and her sub is not light enough for me, so I am going back (after years) to a fun (but for older people than me mostly) water aerobics class tonight. I hope they have the water warmer than they use to keep it.
I am been doing basically nothing diet related except reading my book (women, food, and God) and eating 1/2 portions when I eat out (too often) or takeout food.
I hope everyone is good and my schedule eases up soon.
Evening everyone,
Took a couple days and and dh and I went to Disneyland. It was beautiful weather, and we took our time walking around and going on a couple rides. Took our grand daughter out to dinner. Was a nice get-a-way. We have the cheap season passes, so can't go during the summer months, which is fine with us.
We went to bk and I had eggs, two sausage, and half my pancakes. Very filling and delicious. About two pm we started looking around for something for lunch and most things sounded so 'heavy'. Then we saw the "kids power pack". Small yogurt, bag of pre sliced apple, a small bag of cheddar fish, a string cheese, and a small ice cold water. It was just the right amount for each of us. Going to look for that at other places in the future.
Doris--"Scale and spare tire keep hovering at the same point, but I refuse to get discouraged." I feel the same way. I keep plugging along.
Was able to paint a little today while doing the wash. Tomorrow will paint longer. Have to get these ornaments finished by June when we go camping at the beach. Taking the ornaments to give to a friend. She won't have to pay for shipping. Some will be listed on my web store.
I love painting in my finally organized room. Hope I can make it stay this way.
Since we walked our legs off at DL, today I did the pool for 30 minutes of exercises. Felt really good. Going again on Monday, instructor is adding Tai Chi at the end of the swimming exercises. That sounds like it would be good. She's trying to do different things so the class isn't boring.
Hello! I'm way super new, but what better way to get your foot in the door that a chat thread?
Carolis60: Isn't it a shame that restaurants are serving such large portions now? I see how Carabba's is offering smaller portions of regular fav's now, but this should be practiced in all major chains! With bread, salads and the entree, I always seem to over-eat and still bring some home! Blah!
I am so excited about starting my exercising! Having the semester off for summer has led to a good few lazy weeks, but I'm ready to start being a bit more proactive! Although catching up on TV, or playing The Sims (my kryptonite atm ) is fun, there is NOTHING more rewarding than actually doing something productive with your time!
