Default May Ups and Downs Fighting Depression Thread

I forgot and posted the following at the April thread then realized it's the beautiful month of May!

Lisa - I'm glad you're feeling better!

PandaCupcake, I admire the range of exercise that you do! I've never taken a spin class, I hope you were able to get the cardio workout that you wanted instead of the other stuff.

Flower/Pat - lol @ the dull roar It is so hard to get back on the track isn't it, I hope you are back in those well-worn grooves now Do you think we really will warm up today? its still major low clouds and 49 here. I think I just have to make myself dress in layers and go outside and at least do some picking up of winter crap.

and HI to Coop, Kathleen, Monica

Lisa I went back and WOW you and I have been chatting here since, what, 2013??? And Kathleen and Coop and Monica soon afterwards??
I was reading old posts and wow I was almost always a mess back then, glad I feel SO very much better now.
Here's to friends who stick around!!!!

Finally, FINALLY, after 12 noon, the weather improved! I was outside for almost 4 hours. Raking, digging, picking up crap and branches, I made progress that looks so much better, but there is still so much to be done. But a great start!!!

Woo hoo- warmer weather ahead! (Actually it may have been nice weather today but I wouldn’t know because I didn’t step outside or look out the window today. I worked at home til 8:30pm.

Anyway I agree with everyone looking forward to sunshiny days ahead!

Another day spent outside!!! and SO WARM!! It was 50 degrees by 9 a.m. and it hit 80 which was actually too hot for me in the sun raking, lol! I was freezing just a few days ago! But got more sections done and looks so much better.

I put sunscreen on my arms and face, and was raking/hauling/pulling up weeds and old stuff, so of course all that debris is stuck to my arms and face, ew I have to hit the shower and then we have our monthly motorcycle meeting.

Husband did get out bikes out of the garage, but BOOOO that my bike was apparently rolled against a sharp piece of metal which was sticking right into my new-last-year Metzeler (very good brand of moto tire) ugh! Hopefully the Tech Center can pick it up to repair, because I don't think it will hold air to ride it to the Center.

Hope everyone had a good a day as me !!!!

I just went outside, without a jacket. It’s 87 degrees tonight. I didn’t make it outside yesterday but this
weekend was 40s-50s, maybe reached 60. So I just walked outside now and it feels like I’m on another planet. There’s a snow shovel on the front steps which now looks ridiculous.

It’s kind of sad that I’m back indoors now, but I just don’t know what else to do.

That was pretty funny

I put away four of our snow shovels, leaving 3 out. So if it snows again, it is NOT my fault but hopefully that won't happen.

PandaCupcake, I guess if you don't have outdoor tasks (you are in an apartment?) you might run out of things to do to enjoy the weather, do you have a front stoop you can sit on and just enjoy the weather?

HI to everyone else

Tee shirt weather is here but I am still so self conscious of my upper arms. I know I will adapt but for now it's just 3/4 sleeves for me until I can't stand it anymore.

have a good night

Hey all. Happy May!

Holly, yes to warmer weather. I live in a condo complex and was so sad that this year it was too cold to get out and work in the garden before the dreaded application of mulch in the gardens. I could refuse it. But then I would have to keep everything perfect. I tend to be on the wild side. So perfect garden is not moi Especially when in 5 weeks I will be 67 years old. SO sorry to read about the bike. I hope its fixed quickly and easily. I know biking is your passion. I will think of you this summer when I see people on bikes. I think you will like this about VT weather. A woman I know told me that her little boy pointed to the sky and asked her what it was. She was mystified why he was asking something he already knew. She said "its the sky". He said "no that thing". He pointed to a hole in the clouds where the blue sky was showing. ahhhh life in Vermont. Although I don't know if Stowe is perpetually as cloudy as Burlington.

Panda I hope you can take some vacation time from work. Seems you work very hard. A great trait to have. But hope you can take time away.

Lisa I thought of you today. I know its the 3rd of the month. I thought of how happy you must be to finally have that money.

hi to Coop

in all honesty I am still having trouble with getting into the diet groove. Today I managed to talk myself out of buying a 1 lb bag of frozen peaches which I would eat quickly. And also talk myself out of (food porn which I will not write). But I did buy 1.5 oz of bittersweet Belgian chocolate.

Before I started dieting to go to Boston, I had a long standing addition to homemade low calorie hot chocolate. I gave it up when the Boston diet started. I think I am feeling that void. But I will not go back to it. Its not good for me in other ways.

I LOVE having open windows. Hearing the sounds of the birds. This is the best thing of all.

Hope everyone has a great Friday. May the month of May last 2 months, June, 3 months Pat

I took a short walk to a cafe. I was craving a scone- it was good here last time but today was a bit gummy- like undercooked pie crust? Not inedible but anyway glad because I won’t be craving it next time- I would be worried I’d end up with another dud one.

I put the snow shovel in the basement because it looked creepy.

All my spring/warm weather clothing is packed in the basement. But I have some tee shirts for now... No motivation to start organizing seasonal clothing.

Yes!! hearing the birds early in the morning...hearing the peepers and crickets (too soon for crickets here though) at night. love, love, LOVE it!!

the story about the little boy asking about the wee blue sky space was precious and pitiful at the same time Yes, Lamoille County is one of the cloudiest places in the U.S. I've heard!

I'm sorry that the diet groove is eluding you. same here!! I was doing so well just staying away from bread but lately it's a slice every single night, toasted with pb, and sometimes a slice at dinner too. It's a slippery slope for me!!

Today was showery and rainy and just too wet to do anything outside. guess I could have layered up and dug out dandelions but I chose not to. Tomorrow I have to dig 3 big holes, fill them with good soil and some Moo-Doo, and plant 3 new rhubarb plants that i got from the nursery. Some year, I will have tons of rhubarb but not yet. Rhubarb futures, as good as pork belly futures

Panda, I like that. Future scone cravings saved by undercooked scone.

Holly great that you are planting rhubarb. I didn't know that Lamoille ciounty was so cloudy. Snowy, yes. I know in chittenden and Washington counties where I have lived, the 5 months of winter don't come with sunlight

Confession time. I ended going back to Trader Joe's and getting the bag of frozen peaches. Ate them. Then made vegan gingerbread pancakes. Turns out the recipe for vegan cocoa pancakes does not translate to gingerbread. I thought it would because molasses is also high in acid. It looked like a mess. And tasted great. Now I am in remorse.

Moo doo? lmao Alright Holly, that is hilarious.

One of my favorite things in the world is the breeze through an open window.

Panda,

That is a job pulling out spring clothes.

I'll confess that even though I don't have a lot of cash, I bought a few spring items at wal-mart.
I bought 2 pair of capris (1 white, 1 army green), 2 tank tops ($3 a piece), 1 pair of black workout/casual pants ($3), and a nightie set (marked down to $10.)

At least now, I won't have to go to PT wearing jeans.

Holly,

I'm sorry about the tire to your bike.

Is anyone else having trouble with a video/commercial playing here on this Web site? It's a Verizon video, I think?
I like Verizon but that ****ing video is pissing me off.
