I didn't end up taking a nap yesterday, but I was pretty productive. I weeded through the kids' projects, pictures, etc. that are lying around all over the place and decided what to keep, then tossed the rest. Don't tell them. I also grilled some chicken breasts, roasted some vegetables and cut up some fruit to have around to quickly grab out of the fridge. I also did a little weeding in the yard. That **** wallpaper is going to be there forever, I fear.

Since the kids won't be back until this afternoon, I stayed extra long at the gym today. I did 25 min on the elliptical, then a Group Power class, then a Group Centergy class. My arms and legs are shaky now - I might really regret it tomorrow.

Whenever I read about someone's TOM, I just silently say a little prayer of thanks for my Mirena IUD. I havent' had a cycle for about four years. I love it!

I hope you guys have a great week-end!

I was Right! I did Good! My diligence has been rewarded. I weighed in this morning at my TOPS meeting and had a loss of 4 pounds! Now I have met one of my mini goals, the one where I am below the lowest weight I had been for the last 5 to 6 years. I just got my new pants in the mail today too, and they fit perfectly, down two sizes since I started this whole thing. Life is right now, not when I am done losing weight.

TERRIFIC, you are doing great.

Ward
lol wallpaper. I still have two rooms to wallpaper and it is sitting there ready for me to pick up and get started. Now if my hands were just as willing as the paper I would be good lol.

ms
Don't you hate when life gets in the way of chatting lol.

Silly
I am going to be 46 and except a few times a year my DOT is 28 days like clock work. By the time we get to the maintaining weight part it shouldn't be that hard. We will be so use to eating right that it will just be something we do.

Ailey
For me it is the only way to go. I don't even think that much about eating anymore. I use fit day and plan out what I am going to eat tomorrow, tonight. This is just how I eat, doesn't bother me at all. I just do it. I do still measure many things out. The only person I am cheating when I eat over a portion size is myself. Even measuring things or weighing things doesn't seem like that big of a deal. It is just something I do.

Clyde
2 pounds is a big deal and yet not a big deal. Weight does fluctuate. If we see a gain and it stays around or we keep gaining now that is a problem. If you have a gain and then it is gone in a week or two, that isn't a problem.

Tech
My son didn't think it was funny when I made him pay for me a new scale out of his money lol. What fool thinks you can drop a boxing bag on a scale, HEAVY SIGH.

Slash
I took my daughter with me the last time I had a mammogram. I didn't want her to be afraid because the first time I went I had no idea what to expect and I was afraid lol. She went with me last time I had a pelvic too. She didn't, of course, see what he was doing but he explained through the whole thing what he was doing and why he was doing it. I was telling her what I was feeling and how it didn't hurt but was embarrassing and uncomfortable. Now she isn't afraid of either procedure.

lovn
You have raised some terrific kids. I have raised animals that are barley house trained lol. Mine were fighting yesterday. My sons girlfriend called and my daughter told her he was talking to another girl on the phone the other day. Well, this was true enough she just didn't say they have been Friends since first grade. He in turn, told her boyfriend she looks at porn on the internet every change she gets. You have to understand how funny this is because she is almost physically ill that woman let men look at them like they are pieces of meat. I just shook my head and stayed out of it. My son was planning with Bella how to get back at her. She was planning his death with the cat lol.

the mother - congrats on your mini goal!!! and I LOVE what you said at the end life is now not when i'm finished losing weight! So true!

wardhog - sounds like you were very productive - much more than me - I love my naps when i can get them as for the wallpaper it's there for another time - there is always so much to do just do what we can and make sure to find time to have some fun too.

Just got back from a run - feeling ok - did pretty well eating last night even though it was hard being out with friends when they all wanto to share appetizers - so just did well controling my portions.

going out with same group tonight but I'm going to eat a healthy salad before I leave and just not eat out - that way I can save myself before I get into it.

((hugs)) to all & have a great weekend! Down to 132.8 will update ticker later!

Hi, all!

I'm trying again to get this weight off. I'd lost a good 20 pounds a few years ago when I was hanging out here (not in this 40-somethings board - I don't think it existed then). I ran into some health problems, my knee collapsed and I couldn't walk, my favorite form of physical activity, so I stopped losing, stopped dieting, gained it all back and am now starting all over again.

I'm 48, and all this weight is too much for me now. I'm beginning to develop back problems, which I'm sure are weight related. Energy level is low for several reasons, but golly gee, mightn't carrying around an extra 150 pounds be a factor in that????

I have some medical problems, need some tests, but I'm afraid the fat is a problem re affecting how I do under anesthesia. Also, doctors can't see things easily because of all the fat. I have got to lose at least a chunk of this weight.

My knee has finally recovered to where I can manage short distances, like 1/2 mile at a time. I can't tell you how good that half-mile feels! Doing a mile is sometimes okay, but sometimes it strains the knee and makes me unable to walk for days on end, so I'll stick with the half-mile for a time until I weigh a bit less.

Most diet pills don't help, and I must have help with appetite control or I just don't stick to a diet. My doctor prescribed Meridia, which isn't exactly an appetite suppressant and takes time to kick in, but I'm willing to try it.

At any rate, the plan is to eat balanced, low-fat, low-calorie meals with 5-6 servings of veggies/fruits each day, which I know I can manage. The rest of the plan is to cut the junk food, which is harder, but getting in veggies does help with the appetite control.

Hi Siena! Sounds like you have a good plan going. We just need to keep going and even if it is little by little, we'll keep making things better.

Well, I am making a trip to Denver today (and back) to help my husband take his mom's stuff to her. She moved there with my SIL. This won't be fun, but we have to do it. At least it is one more thing that is done. We put her trailer on the market yesterday, so hopefully that will sell soon. I've had enough of all of this, so I'm ready for it to be done. I know my husband feels the same way.

So, hopefully everyone else is having a great weekend!

Diane, have a safe trip!

Siena, Glad to see you back, I too have a bad knee and like to walk. I am confident I will be able to walk more when more of my weight comes off. Keep plugging away!

Daine/, Get it it? Diane slash. Ok, so you don't get it. I tried. I hope all went well at your dr. appt. and delivering MIL stuff. I didn't have a good weekend either. We can cry in our "beer" together.

Tech, It sounds like you're gettting plenty of exercise to get a few sore muscles. Great job!!

Ward, when my children were small I usually opted for the nap. Hope you enjoyed your day. Sounds like you got a lot done. I too went through my children's papers this week and tossed some. My housework is still waiting for me too. Don't worry it won't go away!!!

Clyde, A walk with one of my children right now sounds awesome. We've been too busy with outside activities lately. I'm feeling a little of Diane/'s overwhelmedness myself. I'm glad you're finding time to enjoy with your dd. Those 2# will be gone before you know it too. Hang in there.

the mother, I'm glad you found us. There are some really terrific supporters here! Sounds like your attitude is terrific. Keep up the good work.

Ailey60, Good morning to you too. I'm just a day or two late!!!

sillycat4, You sound as enthused about dieting as I feel. I'm half tempted to raise my goal and be satisfied. So far I'm only half temted though so don't follow me down this poo poo pitty party path. Hang in there! ( That was my response to your previous post) This is to your latest = Sounds like you're doing much better since your last post. Good for you!!!

mstigger, Hi to you too!

Rennie, Thanks for the compliment. You're children are awesome too and you know it! I write about the good things my kids do, because no one has time to read the pages and pages of bad things they do lol I wish I still had a 28 day cycle. I've been running every 23-24 days and it's no lighter than when I was younger. Annoying!!!

Siena, Welcome to the 40's thread. Back pain is what got me motivated to lose. There are a lot of wonderful people here to talk with that really understand. Post often. It helps.

I got nothing done this weekend I wanted to. The blues grabbed me and drug me off. I'm going to claw my way back to happy land today. I'm making a promise to myself. The only bright spot this weekend was my DS acolyting in church for the first time. It was wonderful to see him so reverant and involved. Dieting is the last thing I want to do. Exercise is the second to last thing I want to do, but I know they are two things that will drag me out of sadsville.
Hope you all have a great day today!

Hello All,

Well had a pretty poo poo weekend here too. But I'm back on track today (I hope) I wanted to go for a ride and strawberry picking this afternoon but pop up t-storms keep popping up. I'm not kidding it's blue skies one minute and pouring the next weird. So I think I'll make up the shopping list and go there today, tomorrow is supposed to be better weather so hopefully I can go out then.

Slash - hope you have a safe trip.

Lovnmom - I got it. And the problem with the stiffness is I hadn't done anything for a couple of days and got stiff. Feeling better now tho thank goodness. I know what you mean about sadsville, exercise is definitely the last thing you want to do but it does help. Hang in there.

Siena - Welcome!

the mother - 4 lbs congratulations.

Wardhog - I started taking down the wallpaper in my bathroom last Oct (its the one thing I really wanted to get rid of when we bought the house 7 years ago) and I'm still only half done, so don't feel alone....Sounds like you had a nice day by yourself.

shymoment - Good idea with your daughter, my mom was always very open about that kind of stuff and I think it really helped when I hit those stages.

sillycat - Appetizers, they are my downfall. Sometimes I'll just eat them and a salad, no dinner. How did your second night out in a row go?

Well if I'm gonna get my shopping done today I need to get moving. Have a great day everyone.

Afternoon girls.

Gosh we're all a bit down today I'm feeling like that too. This is the 30th anniversary of my mum's passing and it still upsets me. I was only 18. I can't believe it's been 30 years. I'm sorry it helps a little bit to type this.

Anyways Diane I hope your Sunday was not too stressful. A big weight off your shoulders to get that done.

Lovn we have been walking every night and she is doing good keeping up with her mother She sometimes runs off in spurts but I catch up with her. I do not like running.

Went to PT this morning and this one tech is always very good. I always feel a difference when he does my stretching. He gets my arm to a certain point where it tightens , holds it for a second and then it goes further. It makes a difference. I'm still going twice a week, slowly but surely it's getting there.

Went and saw my oldest yesterday she is doing a summer theatre programme at her school. They did "The Boyfriend". It was very good she was one of the friends of the main character. I didn't know she could dance that well. That money we are paying is paying off

My youngest came home from summer school today with not a good report. She was playing up and her teacher was not happy. So she is not going to the pool today.

Talking about cycles I used to be regular as clockwork, then they were coming every 20/ 23 days. Now it's much longer than 32 days. I suppose it's all part of the "change".

Thanks for listening, have a good day.

I'm sorry that so many are having those dragging down days. I totally understand it, and I know that we'll all be back to happy before too long. Sometimes, life just takes over and you get bogged down.

Our little trip to Denver went well. It was a long day and a little stressful, but I was glad to be done. And so happy to come home. Little by little, we're getting things done. We listed my MIL's trailer and have already had an offer on it, so it looks like we'll be able to get it sold soon. Yay!

Lovn: I didn't get it until you explained it, but I'm moving slow today. Anything I can do for you or cheer you up, let me know! We can't expect you to be happy all of the time, but we like it when you are!

Clyde: I'm sure that losing your Mom is something you'll never get over. I am sorry you had to go so long without her.

Tech: We had those t-storms when we were coming home. At the top of Vail pass it was 45 degrees! Brrr! But that's over 10,000 feet there, so not too surprising. By the time we got home, it was 85.

The mother: Good for you with your weight loss! That's awesome!

Ok, better go. I'm at work! Shhhh!

Tech, It's hard to get anything done when the weather won't co-operate. Hope tomorrow is better!

Clyde, I'm sad to hear about your loss. I'll keep you in my prayers. That's wonderful that you were able to see your DD perform, but too bad the other was "performing" at summer school. Take care.

Diane/L, Is that better??? I'm feeling much more up now. DD and DS both played baseball 4.5 miles from home. I rode my bike there and back and it helped my outlook a great deal. I'm glad everything went well with the move and you've had an offer on the trailer already.

Hope everyone is good.

Glad things are going well. I get a ton done when the weather is bad lol don't feeling like being out running around so the house is the place to be.

lovn
Sorry the weather got you down. I go months and months and months 28 days then all of a sudden 21 days for a few months then back to 28. Heck I go just as hard now as I ever did lol. I wright about my kids because I figure everyone needs a laugh and truth is funnier than anything you can make up when it comes to kids.

Sienna
Getting the required amount so the four basic food groups eaten eat day is a whole lot of eating lol. You break everything down you need to eat a day into 6 meals and you don't have time to be hungry. You have a ton to eat and it seems you are eating all the time.

silly
nice going on the loss

Lovn: What is funny is that my name comes from our brand (you know, the brand you put on cows and other livestock). It is \NL. I've used it for user names for a long time because... I can remember it!! Anyway, little trivia.

By the way, where is the other Diane??? We're actually missing quite a few posts from our 40 somethings over the past few days. I guess everyone is busy with summer!

Rennie: I know what you mean. It gives you an excuse to be inside anyway, so you can get stuff done! Oh, and I hear you about the kid stories. I've got a good one for you, but I need more time to type it. Amazing what they come up with to give us gray hair.

Busy week this week just with getting kids to and from their camps. I'm glad I work so hard so that I can pay for my kids to go to these great camps and have fun! That's a little sarcasm for ya! Actually, they are having fun and getting better at their sports. That's a good thing.

lovenmom I think you are doing fabulously with your loss - I know that I feel stronger and better and have more energy than I did when I started this journey. Go ahead and take that 1/2 temptation!!

TechAlum - I LOVE apetizers - they are always the best tasting - them and a salad are what i do frequently when it comes down to it after you eat them you're not really "hungry" dinner just seems like it's the next thing.... Anyway - 2nd night out had a pulled chicken barbeque salad with low fat honey mustard dressing - so did pretty well!

Course then sunday i ate junk at home... oh well - one day..Yesterday drove to portland and back - all day meetings down there but did well on eating!

breakfast special k - lunch 1/2 turkey sandwich (sourdough so it was more like if at home a whole one) - dinner lean cuisine and glass of wine..

Slashn - hope your trip wasn't too bad and safe

Clyde - they are our parents no matter how long they've been gone they are still such a huge part of our lives - i don't think that the grief process ever ends just one part of us that helps make us who we are. Take care sweetie

Sienna - welcome back - this time you will stick with it and reach your goal!

off to exercise everyone have a great day
