Hi Ailey Yes it's a new stadium, very nice too. The Cards are doing well at the moment. They have a lot of injuries especially amongst the pitchers. Pujols is on the Dl for 3 weeks. Still a good ball team.
We went on metro yesterday and I noticed the Mississippi is high and has not crested yet. It is covering the street at the Arch at the bottom of the stairs. It's to be higher by the end of the week.
Just got in from my walk and went to PT this morning and walked up the stairs instead of taking the lift. Every little helps.
Not as hot today low 80's. Much more comfortable.
Ailey don't beat yourself up over the blueberry muffins. Today is a new day.
Thanks for all the warm wishes. We won't know any more until he gets in with the surgeon he was referred to. He'll take him the test results (blood/ct/x-ray) and get an apt. The surgeon will decide if he needs chemo/radiation first or he can go ahead with the surgery. So right now we're just pretty much in a holding pattern it's kind of hard to wait but, we don't really have much choice.
This weekend was pretty fun, the weather Saturday was beautiful. We took dinner to the village and ate with my in-laws while we watched the cars drive by. We did walk over and split a frozen custard, they are soooo good I could eat one every day, but I try to limit myself to 2-3/year and then they are more of a treat. Yesterday we took the dogs out for a walk, it was pretty muggy and I had a hard time. Today is supposed to be better, so after lunch I'm going to go for a bike ride. Haven't been on my bike in a couple of weeks, if I don't get moving I won't be able to ride the 39 mile ride in July like I want to.
Clyde - Sounds like you had a great time. I love going to ball games, we took my dad to a AA game for fathers day (a week early), I like being that close to the game.
Rennie - Hope you're feeling better soon.
Ailey - I used to do Curves too. It's a nice place. I quit to join the local civic center gym, so I could go with DH, plus they have a pool which I love. Sounds like you're doing things the right way, this journey needs to be a lifestyle change, not just a diet or we're setting ourselves up for yo-yoing.
Lovn - Sounds like you have a busy day today, and a good ride yesterday. Ten miles can be a lot if you're not used to it.
mstigger - sounds like you had a fun day. DH and I need to get back to date night, we were doing well, but then spring yard work, vacation, sickness...all ate in. It can be fun, but just working together to finish something can be just as much fun.
to everyone I missed, I need to go grab lunch and get on my bike....
clyde
Glad you had a great time. I love to listen to baseball on the radio or go and watch. I don't care to watch it on tv.
carrie
Glad to have you with us.
lovn
Many of us lose slowly. About a pound a week if I am lucky is all I am seeing. I haven't lost any for awhile. I just stick with what I am doing and sooner or later the weight will come off. Sometimes, we have to look at how far we have come.
Ailey
This journey we are taking to a more healthy thinner body isn't about doing without. I eat the required amounts of the four basic food groups each day. It takes me from the time I get up until the time I go to bed most days to eat all that has to be eaten to meet those requirements. There is no time to be hungry. I stay within some ranges I have set for myself of calories, fats and carbs. If I had to never have a mountain dew I would just say forget it. We need to exercise.
Healthy professionals tell us just to maintain a healthy weight we need 2 miles 30 min of brisk walking 3 times a week and 30 min or some kind of resistance training twice a week. If that is just to maintain. Most of us need to step up the exercise we do to lose weight and tone the body.
There is a great saying on someones ticker.
It is hard to lose weight. It is hard to maintain weight loss. It is hard to be fat. Pick your hard.
I say:
I don't have time to be fat so I have time to eat right.
I don't have time to be out of shape so I have time to exercise.
morning all! I hate being absent for days at a time, there's too much to keep up on!
The niece is home from school and good golly what an adventure that was. Running up and down the blessed freeway for hours on end is doing quite the number on my ability to get my daily water intake in. Don't dare drink it just in case the output comes at a terribly inopportune time! I have a stack of stuff in my little condo, it's the stuff she won't need until she goes back to school. Still have two boxes in my car to carry in.
So anyway, my weight is up. Trying to get back into a semi normal routine with drinking water. All the travel is hopefully done for a long time. And the hair is going natural. Not going to keep messing with it if the dye won't stick to the problem parts! Nice to have that decided.
s for your words of encouragement. They are much appreciated
TechAlum- Your husband, you and your family are in my prayers Where did you find the exercise ticker? I think that would be a nice little motivating graphic for me to add. Yeah i like to swim too but have never been good at doing it enough to consider it true exercise. I'm grateful for my Curves, the wonderful owner and the great members. It's one less thing i have to worry about structuring for myself.
Shy Moment-Where did you find your guidelines for your serving sizes? I'm wondering about that especially when it comes to vegetables, but with respect to all of the food groups. You mentioned the four basic food groups: protein, grains veggies and fruits? That just seems like such a sensible way to focus and structure your eating plan. Have you posted any recipes you can point me towards? And as far as exercise goes i know--you are so on the mark. I'm working at improving in all of these areas gradually, and i am improving. Otherwise i get overwhelmed and discouraged with all i'm supposed to be doing and tend to give up and i'm not willing to do that anymore. So i continue on and tweak and improve as i go.
Sillycat Where did you move here from? How exciting to have a fellow Washingtonian posting here. Are you liking your new home? on all the weight you've dropped already. I spent my first two years here (almost)stressed and basically continuing with the same unhealthy eating and exercise habits. But for whatever combination of reasons i'm ready for transformation and am on a new road-
Well Ladies- I'd better get up from here and get on to other things-lunch, dishes, Curves, planning dinner,
Great Monday to all of you. to everyone on your progress and dedication. We can and are doing this!!

Welcome, Thin Nurse (from this old-timer who's been here a whopping two days!). Congratulations on all you've accomplished in such a short time!
sillycat4, Sounds like you had nice weekend. Good for you!
Clyde, Glad to hear PT went well. Are you in any danger when the Mississippi reachest it's peak? I pray not. Take care.
Tech, I really enjoyed the ride, but it would have been better with frozen custard waiting at the end for me
Rennie, good advice.
Kappy, don't fret over 3#. More regular days are coming and you'll get back on track. Glad to hear you got the niece moved all safe and sound like.
Ailey60, good morning.
thin nurse, thin, thin, she's our girl. If she can't do it no one can. gooooooo thin nurse!
mom, hope you're feeling better.
carrie3146, Have a great day!
Youngest DS has his first Minor League (pitching machine) game this morning. He's not nervous. He does have natural talent and having a hard working older brother has helped him develop skills early. Now, if he loses I hope he has developed the "gracious loser" attitude. We shall see. It's 70* and sunny a great day for baseball. My two older children have practice this afternoon so I'm planning to walk then. The principal went through the film from the security camera at school and saw an elderly woman walking her dog during the time my cell phone went missing. Our police chief knew who it was and went and asked her if she'd found a phone. Sure enough. No one asked her why she hadn't turned it in or even answered it. I thought it was odd. We do only have a population of 1,000. I bet it shook her socks when the cops showed up asking questions. She was probably thinking, **** gov with their eyes everywhere!!! Hee hee, but at least I got my phone back!!!
Have a lovely day!
Diane, Where are you??? I'm a missing you girl!
Ailey - just looked at my post I've been in this area for about 30 years for the most part - traveled a LOT for work but that's slowed down - meant been on this site since beginning of this year - LOL - funny how when things run together they take on different meanings - looks like we have another new washingtonian in Thin Nurse
Thin Nurse - Welcome and congrats on all that weight loss - I applaud you on that - but man I love my glass of wine with dinner - not sure I'm ready to give that one up.
Tech Alum - you & your husband are in my prayers - honestly the waiting part to find out what the plans are are the hardest part - but tell your dear husband that he can and will get through this - from a fellow cancer survivor.
Hope everyone has a great day - I'm off to get my exercise this morning then to work... where change is hard... really hard for some folks.
I posted and posted yesterday and there is nothing lol. Oh well, here goes again.
Kappy
I had mine highlighted. That mixed the white in with the rest real well lol.
Aliey http://www.weightlossresource.com/re...od-pyramid.cfm here is a nice site to see portion sizes. When I can't find it here I type in portion size and the food and usually it comes up in a search. There is a new food pyramid for those that don't eat or drink animal products. The one I gave you is the tryed and true old one. Meat 2-3, Dairy 2-3, Fruits 2-4, Veggies 3-5, Bread 6-11. I thought my gosh that is a lot and talked to the dietitian/nutritionist about it lol. How was I going to eat those top numbers. She laughed and said everyone should eat the bottom numbers. Depending on how much you need to take in is when you get to the upper numbers. I have a hard time getting enough of the bread group in. She told me at least 3 a day and average the 6*7 = total of 42 through out the week. Some days I may have more of that group, some days less.
thin
Congrats on doing so well. The journey is well worth the dedication it takes to get to where we want to be.
kappy
Take a deep breath. Now, things are going to get back in order and you are going to see that weight come back off.
theycall
Isn't it a darn shame when life gets in the way of things we want to do lol.
Silly
Thats great. Good things come to those who work for them
I knew things couldn't keep going so well lol. After ( 4 weeks ) of being on Prednisone and a couple of other meads ( 6 weeks ) the scale ( I got a new scale ) showed no weight loss but no weight gain and yet the clothes were not fitting quite the same. My last two weigh In's were at home on my new scale. I got the answer this morning. I had to go to the doc again and there it was 6 pounds gain. My new scale is 6 pounds off. I weighed myself before I went and it said 140 I did my weigh in at the docs and it said 146. I am not upset about this. I know that was not reasonable to think I was on a few meads for a few weeks with no weight gain at all. I can handle the weight gain from the meads. The meads are gone again and the weight will come back off. I have to stop back in tomorrow for some prescriptions they, of course, didn't give me. I really should check shouldn't I. So I will do another weight in then and change my ticker. I really am sorry this is going to mess up red teams weigh In's. I have come a long way. Those very same said meads put 80 pounds on me and I was at the end of my leash. I was not only not healthy physically but mentally I was a mess. Now I can just smile and know it will come back off and not let it get me down. Think I am going to stick to weigh In's every two weeks at the docs office. I am better off that way. I was ranting about how this scale was right on when I got it and now it is 6 pounds off. My son said. "It wouldn't hurt it if we tryed to weigh my boxing bag on it would it?" HEAVY SIGH. I said what did you do drop the darn thing ( has to weigh at least 400 pounds ) on the scale? He said, " Well Mom that darn thing is heavy, it took two of us to get it on the scale."

yea sometimes life just gets in the way all the way around !!!
Sounds like everyone is doing super duper around here!!! Well as super duper as you cal lol....
Still waiting on that Granbaby of mine to be born - due date is technically June 21 so technically not late yet - but I am not a very patient person and want it here NOW!!! lol Ineed a vacation from work too - and as soon as he makes his appearance I am flying to FLorida for a week or so and I cant think of a better vacation then cuddling with my first Grand!!!!
My puppy Marley is doing good, definatly a Mamas dog, he follows me all over! He is doing great housbreaking, has an accident here and there but he is getting it.
As for me, I have been under the weather, cant really put my finger on it - but had a wee bit of chest pain over the past weekend - called my cardiologist and have an appointment on Thursday. Its probably nothing, more tummy related (irratable bowel kind of stuff) but better to be safe then sorry
Anyhoo - so far so good this week - no binges no getting off track!!! yeah me! and yeah to all of you too!!! yup here he comes the dancing hotdog!!! ------>
callmemom, Have agreat time in FL. My prayers your grandbaby arrives safe and sound and on time.
clyde, mmm muffins. I'm making strawberrie pie. It's our 14th anniversary today and a sweet treat sounds good.
rozzee, a pound is a pound is a pound oops that makes 3 pounds...that's exactly what will happen at 1 pound at time. Good job.
DS #2's game went terrific. More games for older kids today. DS #1 is being asked to pitch Little League! First time he's ever pitched. This is a re-grouping year for the team. I think the coach knows he can handle the emotional pressure pitching can hand out and is hoping he can pull it off physically. I'll be white knuckling it all the way for him while trying hard to not talk to the ump at all. DD is catching. Right where she wants to be.
have a great day...still missing you Diane...come out come out wherever you are!!!
