sillycat, Thanks for the vote of confidence. I've gotten a lot of exercise the past two days and am feeling much better about everything. Hope you had a great day.
Gt, Glad to hear things are going well.
Had a great day watching my youngest play baseball. He really did rock. Nothing got past him on 2nd and he batted really well even getting a "clean" triple. I got in a 4.5 mile walk and played 20 min of tennis. I'm still not losing, but my heads back out of my butt!!!
Lovn-glad that you are having fun with your kids at baseball. Looks like to you get some good exercise in too! You're so close to goal! I am sure that you will get there.
Hi GT-thanks for stopping in!
Hi Sillycat! Nice that you got some 'date' time. I love to go out for salad and appetizers too. I can never eat a full entree if we get appetizers, so it's just more fun to have those instead.
Slashnl-I remember sending my son off to football camp. Those were always fun for him and expensive for us. I am sure that they appreciate that your hard work so that they can have fun at camp.....well, they will in the future!!
DS turns 19 this Saturday! Wow! Time sure does go by quickly. I can't believe that my baby boy will by that old....makes me feel old!
No outdoor activities for us. I live in Northern CA and all the wildfires have turned out air quality to 'very unhealthy'. The fires are not close to us, but our air is fill with smoke. It smells like there is a fire nearby and the sky is overcast, but it is all the smoke and soot from all the fires in the area. They are saying that it will be like this for the next few days. We are hoping that there will be a Delta breeze soon to clear all of this out, but so far nothing. At least I can exercise inside. I just have to keep the dog and cat in all the time!
mstigger, How awful that your air is affected like that. I'm glad your not in immediate danger. My oldest DD will be 15 soon and entering high school in the fall. Not that it's making me feel old so much, but I am feeling the, " she's almost gone," bell tolling. It's so hard to imagine she's nearly an adult. I see where we are on our weight loss journey and where we want to end up are pretty much the same. I'll try help you if you stumble and I hope you'll hang in here with me too.
DS first game of the day went well. No berries picked yet, but most of the housework is done. For today! Phew, DS has another game at 6pm. Since I watched the S.L. game this morning and his dad will be at his L.L. game tonight I may walk during tonight's game. It's too blessed hot to go right now anyway.
lovn- yeah, the air really is awful. Had a sore throat over the weekend and thought that it was a cold coming on....nope, it's the air quality. I know what you mean about the "almost gone bell" as DS starts college in the Fall. But, he will still be living at home for the next couple of years as he is going to the Jr. college nearby. DH despairs that he will live at home forever! We really are close in height and weight, aren't we? We will have to make sure to encourage each other. Hope you get that walk in tonight! If not, have fun at the game.
Saw the news of the fires and air quality this evening mstigger, how awful to have to stay inside. We had to last year and a few years before that from our fires.
My youngest daughter just graduated from High School! I am older than some, younger than others. I am getting anxious for them all to leave, I want some time alone with my husband. We still have three living at home though, those alone days are a ways off.
Just a fly by. Was about 12:30 before I stopped tonight. Am almost done. Only have one side of a page from a steno book left to do. Taking me longer than usual because I am taking it easy on the back and shoulders. Sorry to see there are some of us having problems. Hope you have a better day tomorrow.
Not much to say today... I overslept a little. We are having a baby boom here, we're up to 11 baby ducks. So cute. We also have 3 baby pheasants, but they're a little older and they think they are BIG! They are working on their little voices.
Hi from Florida!!! Yup - watching my baby hold her baby - its sureal!!!!! I am so in love with this little guy!!!! I am so not looking forward to going home
As far as sticking to diet - hmmmm - well I think I could be doing worse! But Im certainly not doing as well as I would be, were eating alot of take out, and grab and go foods....but Im not binging or pigging out so hopefull I at least wont gain any - kind of afraid to get on the scale!!!
Have not been able to keep up with everyones posts so pardon me if I missed anyones congrats, or Im sorrys or Im thinkin of ya!!! (a lil pre occupied lol)
Anyhow - just wanted to stop in and say hey - have a great day everyone
mother-the orange haze in the sky could be gone by Saturday or Sunday! Weatherman is hoping that we get some cooler air and wind coming in from the South to clear out the air. That's the good news. The bad news is that instead of cleaning out the air, the wind could make things worse for the fires and we may get more dry lighting strikes to cause more fires. Not enough rain here and too much rain elsewhere!
Congratulations on your youngest graduating! I can understand you being ready for the empty nest. Our neighbors just had their youngest graduate from college and they have been traveling and spending much deserved time together! I look forward to those days....just not ready for that to happen yet!
Rennie-Hello!
slashnl-how exciting about the baby boom! Are these animals yours? or do they live around you?
mom-Congratulations! You deserve to be preoccupied!
clyde-great job on the loss!
So far this week, I have been OP. DH and I have a wine dinner to go to tonight. Hopefully, I will be able to control myself and just have a little of everything instead way too much of everything!
Holy cow, I haven't posted in almost TWO WEEKS! I am so relieved to finally be back here, and to see some new names along with some familiar ones. In the interest of speed, I admit to not reading the past couple of pages but I'll try to do so.
Anyway, life has been a whirlwind. Complete insanity!! How can I explain? Well, let's see...I think the last time I was here, I was freaking out but happy that my son was sleeping over at a friend's house for the first time. This was a MAJOR milestone for him, as he is a special needs kid and has to work so, so hard to make and keep friends and be a socially adept person. Well, I'm happy to report that the sleep over went just fine. He had a blast.
And then there was Little League. Although DS' team had a rocky regular season, suddenly at the end, they began winning everything in sight. All teams make the playoffs, but then they all had to play a round robin consisting of 3 games. They were the only team out of eight teams to win all three of their round robin games, one of which was a shut out! It was incredible - beyond description - the joy, the amazement, the comraderie. The last of the three games took two nights to play - it started on a Monday but got rained out, so we picked it up 3 nights later, only to go into extra innings.
In between all of DS' baseball was his elementary school graduation. Now, you might say, what's the big deal about graduating from 5th grade? Well, true, it's not exactly grad school, but...it was special and emotional. As the principal pointed out, you spend the most time in elementary school than any other school - middle school, high school, college, even law or med school. The ceremony was lovely - and DS got a huge round of applause when, upon accepting his diploma from his (male) teacher, the two of them did a chest bump like the two athletes they are. The crowd loved it.
Back to Little League - the team moved on to the championship game, which, alas, they lost...by ONE RUN!!! Still, it was an extremely exciting game. Tons of people came - relatives, friends, etc. The night before the game, I took a big white sheet and made a big banner which I ended up hanging on the bull pen fence. The boys took their loss in stride. They never dreamed they'd make it that far and they made the other team earn their victory. Below is a picture of DS with his runner-up trophy.
After the game, we had a great pool/pizza party and it was an awesome way to end the season.
So, now that both school and baseball are over - not to mention a few family functions (a bar mitzvah, some birthdays, Fathers Day) - life is finally calming down. We're back into a semi-normal routine, as DS is attending day camp locally and my husband doesn't need to travel for work again til about August. For the first time in weeks, I have been able to exercise every single day! Yay! As most of DS' games were in the evening, we'd fallen into the routine of going out to eat afterwards - not great for either the wallet or the waistline! I feel as if we really spun out of control. However, we're all back on track and not a moment too soon. I'm down about 2 pounds from earlier this month.
Anyway - I think this post has gone on long enough! It's good to be back, and I look forward to catching up with everyone.
mstigger, No walk for me on Wed night. DS pitched the second game and I did not want to get back from walking late and miss any of it. It was his second time on the mound and I feel like DH and I are moral support. Even though DS takes it all in stride. I did get in a nice walk with another mother yesterday during baseball practice. We actually have two children each in the same grades together at school. We've always talked and gotten on well. I think this may be the year we take our "freindship" to the next level.
Rennie, I have no idea what you're doing with the steno book. I'm lost, but I hope you get it done and take care!
the mother, I have days when I wish it were just me and the hubs, but I know it will all happen too soon and I will miss them so much.
Diane\nl, Baby duckies are the sweetest. I hope all is well with you and your's.
mom, enjoy that grand baby!!
Clyde, DS pitched his second game Wed night. He really rocked. He walked one and one got a single the rest were strike outs. Cool. The walked batter was on 1st when the hitter got his single DS chose to throw out the lead runner...his coach asked him why he made that choice? You as a baseball lover knows had he thrown to first rather than second he would have had a "no hitter." DS' response, "winning the game is more important than my record." Our teams play two 4 inning games and each pitcher is allowed 4 innings per day...our other pitcher pitched the first game and the opposing teams pitcher got a home run off him...my son struck the same boy out...on the ride home DS asked me, "You know that little man that lives inside your head and tells you what to do?? When I struck out their pitcher mine little man was jumping up and down yelling, "Oh yeah I got you I got you!" " I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants. I just told him that he'd met his conscience and it was nice for me to know that they both new how to act in public, because my son never even like pumped his arm and said yeah..he just reset for the next batter.. Glad to see your weight was down again..great job!
More baseball today, but just a Senior League game. DS is the youngest on the team and usually only plays left or center for two innings, but is in the batting rotation. These are easy games, no stress. Have a terrific day all!!
Lovn sounds like you have a good kid there. Pitching is such a hard position to play. There is always a lot of pressure to get those outs. My middle daughter was a reliever for 2 seasons when she was in middle school. I would get so anxious when she was on the mound. I'm glad she doesn't do that anymore.
Letsgomets your guys will be here Monday for 4 games. My daughter is going to Monday's game, don't think she will take me Sounds like your son's team did very well.
I can't believe we're almost into July. This month has flown by.
