Lovn: Ok, here I am. It's been hectic here lately and I've totally given in to feeling pressure and overwhelmness (I don't think that is a word). Normally I can deal with it, but it got to me for a couple of days. (Could have been the TOM) I feel like summer is slipping away and I'm not getting to the things I wanted to do. And really, I'm not asking for sympathy, I'm on my way back out of the blues. Summer goes insanely fast and I just love this time of year, even with our high heat! I've been reading, just not posting. "Too busy to write..."
We're just about done with baseball. One more game on Friday. My son has a bunch of camps this summer to keep him busy, but that means I have to run before and after work to take him there. My daughter has a volleyball camp next week, too. So, she'll be tired! It really kicked her butt last year, so I think she'll be tired this year, too. Good for her!
Glad to see so many posts! 40 can be fun. Whatever!
Re: hair coloring. At my younger nieces HS graduation there were two ladies sitting below me to my right. At one point both had taken off their hats. Same hair color, same hair highlights, with the blessed highlights appearing to be in the same exact color and same places in their hair. My jaw dropped. Didn't think that was remotely possible, but in retrospect I can see how that can happen. Anyway, two days later the article came out about to color or not to color. The combination got me thinking. I'm planning on skipping my next coloring, we'll see what happens. May like it, may not. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
Mom and dad thought they'd lost their washer, water leaking down the hallway and making a huge mess. Turned the water off to it, still water on the floor. So they figured somehow some water was still in the machine and it would have to keep dripping. I was taking a load of laundry home every night to make it easier on them. Then last night they discovered it's not the washer, it's the water heater (located on the other side of same hallway). Why not. So they (and my niece & nephew) will be showering at my house until it gets replaced. Dad has said when this one went he wanted to replace it with one of those on demand kinds of water heater instead of the big old regular tank style, I've heard there is extra installation cost for those so as yet I don't know what they'll do. They just got the problem identified at 10 last night, we'll work it out tonight probably.
My last boss, the one that I had prior to 5/1, is in the hospital. Has been for two weeks now. Seems the gal (late 40's, early 50's) has two aneurysms. One was dianosed early on, but in trying to do something for that they caused a small stroke. Today they're supposed to be doing something about the second aneurysm. They can't do physical therapy for the stroke until they get the aneurysms under control, just standing up raises her blood pressure and they can't have that yet. She keeps telling everyone she'll be back in 4 weeks. There's no way to know for sure until after she's released from the hospital. Why is it the good folks are the ones hit by things like this, and the nasty monsters carry on without so much as a hitch?!
I have two of the three pounds gone again (water can do that). Just working on getting the rest and more to disappear. Obviously with me being a stress eater I need some serious diversions that don't include calories!
Hey Diane I know what you mean about summer going by so fast. Last weekend I wanted to be outside and enjoying the weekend but I was stuck with grocery shopping and house cleaning. I have to find a way to organize my evenings to get the work done so that when the weekend comes I can lay back and enjoy them. If you think of it summer has not even started yet ( a couple more days)
Kappy-thats terrible what your boss is going through, I hope she is OK.
Lovnmom- thanks for the ecouragement. I noticed that with all the stresses that you have been going through you are always upbeat and motivating everyone. You rock girl
Diane, I am sorry to hear of your overwhelmedness. This being a mom thing is not easy. I'm glad you've stopped by here for even just a minute. I'm sending you a big ((((hug)))) and a prayer for strength. We think the summer is going to be our time with the kids and then the summer's gone and we miss them again. Hang in there.
Kappy, Sorry to hear about the hot water heater. We just replaced ours about a month ago. $1,000, but it's a real big one for our large family...good luck having the showering company. I'll say a prayer for your friend. Great job on the loss!!
Rozzee, I have 4 healthy children and a husband who loves me. 'Nough said. Have a great day!
Clyde, How old is your youngest? That's terrific. It's giving her an opportunity to open up and really learn she can trust you with things and bounce things off dear old mom. You'll both benefit so much. I'm happy for you. When Mel and I walk it seems we take turns. One walk she's got a lot to talk about or to sort through and then the next time it'll be me. It works.
Yesterday was a terrific baseball day. DS #1 ran with the big boys at Senior League. He got 3 at bats 2 walks and a strike out and got to play center and left field. He is the youngest player and expected to get little to no playing time so he was very happy. They won 1 - 4 inning game and tied the other. He pitched the first 4 inning game for his Little League team. He walked just one batter and we won the game 3-0. He played first base the second game and they also won that game 3-1. DD #2 played her first Little League game and had an awesome day too. She caught the first 4 inning game..whipping her mask off to make a play at home. Cool. 3 at bats that game 2 singles and a double. The second game she played short stop. Only 1 at bat and she was walked....I was just amazed that both my children played all 8 innings. It usually doesn't work that way. They both really work hard so I'm very proud of them. Also, DS did no bragging after pitching his first game. Just took it all in stride. Like he did it every day. Today my husband is finally 40 and I think he's feeling it. Luckily the kids have an easy schedule today so he may get some attention yet.
Have a terrific Thursday ladies.
Clyde: Boy, I can understand that one. My daughter has lots to talk about... well, most of the time. With my son, I have to drag conversation out of him. He gives me this look (similar to his dad's) "what do you want me to say?" Oh well.
Diane: (ha, seems like I'm talking to myself) I know I'm way ahead of myself with summer slipping away. I tend to look ahead at all of the stuff we have planned or what we still want to do and the deadlines seem a little too close. I'm back on track today. Just have to have my moments.
Well, I'm going to the doctor today. Just a physical and mammogram. I'm so excited..... NOT! My daughter asked what a mammogram is and I told her about it. She said, "They don't do that! You're kidding." I told her not to worry about it, she didn't have to do it for a very long time. My son also asked what it was and I told him he didn't want to know. ha! Anyway, I get to face their scale. Not an exciting thing at all. But, I'll get it over with and move on.
Boy, did it get hot here! It seems like we went from nice 70-80 degree weather and flipped a switch to the mid to high 90's. But, that's ok, I like summers!
Its been a bad couple of days diet wise, TOM came and I just went with it. But today I will be back on track!!! Drink my water, not wine, and no chips.
I got a bike ride in on Monday, it felt good . And Tuesday I met my folks and we walked. My mom has heart problems so we walk a little slower than I do by myself, but its nice to see them once a week (they live about an hour away we meet at a park between our houses). To the people who mentioned talking on walks, my mom and I seem to take turns this week was my turn, I don't think she had to say much (dad takes my dog and walks faster they're both happier that way).
Slashnl - Have fun at the doctors And summer doesn't even start until tomorrow. I didn't even finish my garden planting until yesterday. I'm hoping I get something.
Kappy - we've been thinking about an on demand water heater when ours goes too (it was new when we moved in though so that should take a while). My sister has one and they like it, my sil was going to get one but her city said they couldn't use the one they bought so they went back to the traditional. Too funny about the water tho.
Lovnmom - sounds like you had fun at the baseball games. How was your anniversary?
Rozzi - Yea on the pound. When it seems like its not much or the journey to long in front of you, find something that weighs what you've lost (even if its a 5 lb bag of sugar) and carry it around for a while, you'll feel better, trust me.
Clyde - mmmm....baking. I've been feeling like that myself, probably because its cool a cloudy out. How did they turn out?
callmemom - good luck at the cardiologist. And it sounds like a fun vacation, you sound like my mom when my sister was about due, she just couldn't wait. Course then they moved in with her and things were never the same....
Shy - Great attitude about the gain, and too funny about the scale, I can just picture it.
Aily - I think you're who asked about the exercise ticker, its from ticker factory, the same as the weight tracker. You just put in different measurements. Click on your weight tracker and then pick to create a new tracker, and follow the steps.
Well, I've gotta go. I'd like to get in another ride today, and I'm thinking I may make lasagna for dinner, for some reason I've been craving it lately....
Hey guys! I am kid-free today, so just checking in. I took them to my Mom and Dad's for a sleep-over. They love going to grandma and grandpa's because they get to do whatever they want to! I really want to get some things done around the house today, but when I look around I realize that there is just too much to do! So, here I sit, trying to decide if I should strip wallpaper or get some yard work done. Maybe I'll take a nap instead.
My weigh in and I'm up 2 lbs Oh well it'll be better next week.
Lovn my youngest is 11 years old. She likes to walk and we've increased it each night. She is my special needs child and needs extra attention. However she loves to talk and she covers an amazing range of topics
Tech maybe those muffins and banana bread helped with the 2 pounds.
Wardhog do what you want to do. It's your day. Have fun.
I finally found this thread! I have had a pretty good week. I belong to a TOPS group and we weigh in on Fridays. I am excited to see how the scale says I did. I usually am not excited, just so-so. I do have wonderful friends there though. I do not like the heat so I am a night owl in the hot part of the summertime. My kids are mostly grown and I have 3 grandkids. One of the reasons I want to get this weight off is so I can do fun things with them. My kids only remember me not being able to do fun things so I will have fun with them also. I will post tomorrow after I weigh in!
Good Morning Everyone-(As in 12am ish western time)
Today is my daughter's last day of school. My nephew and a friend are coming into town for a day on their way to an Alaskan cruise. It's been a busy and kind of a sad week(dds teacher will not be returning next year and she is a true gem)I had a good cry this evening about a book my daughter and i were listening to and it's past my bedtime but i wanted to check in with you all./
Thanks ShyMoment for the serving amounts. I think the way you are losing makes so much sense.
Tech Alum thanks for the instructions for the exercise ticker. I really like seeing the progress i've made with my weight so far and adding the EX ticker will be good motivation right in front of my eyes everytime i post.
Welcome Thin Nurse and congrats on all your weight loss so far. You're practically there! How exciting!!
Techalum - I hate that time of the month and now that i'm mid 40s ... it's not regular at all any more - worse yet than just knowing when / why I lose control of eatint and blow up like a balloon... Hang in there and remember one day is just one day.
Ailey - man up at midnight how on earth do you get up in the am to get to work??? - i'd need to sleep till noon!
slashn - I know that the time for those bifocals is coming for me too - but being near sighted all my life i've got another year or so before I have to go there - i can get away with it anyway.
last 2 days bad food wise for me - had 3 good days before that - still under 135... i have a feeling that I'll be here forever because even when I reach my goal I know it'll always be a day by day struggle to stay there - i feel like i need to join something like "food anon" and stand up and introduce myself "Hi, I'm silly and I really love food"..
ugh.... metabolism's aren't fair just the way we're made!
Good morning all! Sorry I haven't been around. Everytime I try to post here, I get interrupted-the joy of working from home during the summer!
Everything is going well here-been sticking to plan and exercising. It is starting to get hot-mid 90s yesterday, should be around 100 today. But, we have low humidity, so the heat isn't unbearable especially with A/C!
I hope to post more later....just wanted to check in and say hi to everyone!
Just wanted to pop in real quick before I head out for a bike ride and then clean house Ended up not going yesterday just didn't feel up to it, but I did go to the gym with DH when he got home from work even though I really didn't want to. For some reason all my muscles are sore even though I really haven't done anything to warrant it
Silly - Mine have never been regular except when on b/c. Which I'm still on to help regulate hormones, dh is really glad for shorter/less intense mood swings (as am I). I tried overeater's anonymous once, it just didn't fit me I think but it was interesting.
Clyde - sorry about the 2 lbs. Banana bread can definitely be .
Mother - welcome.
Wardhog - how was the nap? Just kidding, I'm pretty sure that's what I'd do though.
