Teri, A big welcome to you. You'll find plenty of friendship and support here. That's for sure.

Clyde, You have so many good things happening. I am so happy for you. You are such a huge fan I can hardly believe tomorrow will be your first game!!! I'm wondering if Father's Day is going to be even more fun for you than your hubby I too, thought "Kung Fu Panda" was LMAO funny!

Ailey, First welcome, welcome, welcome! Second, it sounds like you've learned a lot and have a pretty good plan. We're all here for support while you're executing that plan!!

letsgo, that sounds so nice for your DS. I hope all went well and you at least got a little sleep!

Diane, I did grocery shopping today too. Expensive, but we're good to go for a while now. My mother had a stroke 3 years ago Memorial Day weekend. It was a nightmare when we moved her to the apt. She and my dad had lived in the same house for nearly 40 years. You wouldn't believe the things we found. I hope it all went well for you.

valareha, Welcome. There are many a former yo yoer here. This can be your last time down. Believe in yourself.

Rennie, I absolutely agree. When you write "30 miles" away it seems terrible, but really I can get 30 miles a lot faster than many city people can travel 10. I love the city for visiting, but living rural is for me. Probably because I grew up here, but it's still for me.

Tech, Congrats on the loss. I sincerely hope you get better news after the CT scan. I hope it's ok if I keep you in my prayers.

Carol, Welcome. You've made a terrific start and you'll find a lot of support here. It is nice having a spot for us 40 somethings. I think this is the decade when we really start to notice, "wow, I'm getting old!" I'm hoping by 50 to be all "adjusted" lol

AIley, just go into "edit signature" and you'll be able to find your numbers in the midst of a bunch of URL stuff. Just put your cursor in there and erase your old numbers and then put in your new. Simple dimple, but it took me a couple tries when I was new too.

We had plenty of excitment here yesterday. With the interstate being closed traffic was re-routed between LaCrosse and Madison right past my house. Finally, after a day of close calls someone tried to pass a semi right in front of my house just as someone pulled out of our store parking lot. Ahhh, the car that had pulled out hit the ditch (drove out onto the neighbors driveway) the car that was passing tried to duck back behind the semi but went under the back of the semi instead. He was crunched and flung into the opposite ditch! My two youngest were in the yard and saw it all. They were just shaking. Luckily, the passer did not have a passenger because that side of his vehicle was demolished. (I never thought to take pictures until just now!!) Unbelievably, no one was injured. Just all very shook up. For my own excitement, I lost my cell phone!!!! It rang like crazy when I'd call it, but no one would answer. I checked my options and it was free to de-activate that one and re-activate my old one. Both were freebie phones with very similar options so I just did that. I hope it will still show up, but I had left it by the ball field when waiting for my son at weight lifting. I suspect some kids found it and used it all night last night. Oh well, it was 8pm when I lost it and my free weekends kicked in at 9pm last night. Live and learn...We went to Kung Fu Panda today ( I love that Jack Black), chinese buffet and Wal-Mart..I bought myself a big floppy reversable yellow and white hat, a baseball cap with a little bug on it that says "Don't Be a Litter Bug" ( I'll give you 3 guesses to figure out who has a little trouble with sun NOT AGE spots on her face) and a great purse...I realised I'd been carrying the same purse for 3 years. Gracious, it was time. What'd I get the hubby for Father's Day? Same as he got me for Mother's Day lol It's ok though, we don't do gifts...SIL is gone home again already, but we had a terrific visit. I sure hope we can get to MNPLS to see her yet this summer too.
I hope everyone has had a terrific first half to their weekend. It's great to see so many people reaching out to each other!

Clyde: Looks like you had a winning game! Can't wait to hear about it.

Lovn: How scary for you and the kids. I'm glad no one else got hurt who live near you. I wish people would slow down a little and have some patience. They think they are invincible in their vehicles and that's how those big accidents happen. Sorry about the cell phone, too!

Carol: Welcome! Glad to see you posting! We all understand that frustration that comes with battling weight, so you're in good company. Working with ballerinas? ouch! I work in an office with all age ranges and body types, so I'm not too far out there by myself. That would be tough to be in your situation!

Tech: I'm so sorry about your hubby. I'll send some good thoughts and prayers your way for some good news.

Donna: Welcome! Glad you are not lurking anymore. I'm looking forward to getting to know you.

Rennie: Yes, those daughters find out too quick how nice some of these boys look in their sports uniforms. In my case, I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.... Yes, I am old enough to be their mother, but they are still fun to watch. Actually, part of the fun is listening to them. What comedians!

Well, we loaded up my mother-in-law's stuff. We'll take it over to Denver next weekend. Oh joy. It has to be done and I'll be glad to have it over with. I was kind of ticked off yesterday when I saw what all we were loading up. My sister in law packed everything without us there and then we'll do the delivery. Why in the heck she is keeping half of what she is keeping is beyond me. There were two boxes marked "yard sale". WHAT??? Can we just give this crap to Goodwill or Salavation Army?? We really need to take up space (and use the fuel) to move boxes of stuff that you might make $20 on at a yard sale. Idiocy. My husband wasn't much happier. If this was priceless stuff, it would be one thing, but most of it is just average stuff that could easily be replaced. I'm going to have to be careful next weekend to keep my mouth shut and let my husband deal with his sister and mom. I know she had a stroke and I should be kind, but she was a nasty old woman before this happened. I have a hard time getting past that. And her daughter has no regard for the little amount of free time my husband has with owning his own business. We aren't sitting over here waiting for something to do! He doesn't have enough time to spend with the kids, let alone catering to her. Deep breath... Well, we'll get this done and then get the place sold and maybe we'll have a little peace from them. (wishful thinking)

What a crabby I am today!

Today should be a good day. Just doing stuff around the house and celebrating father's day. Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Hello Carol and Donna! Glad you are joining us!

Slash-Let your sister know that it will get better with her teen! I really despaired over the situation with my son, but he has finally graduated and is looking forward to college. I am sorry to hear about having to move your MIL. I know that can be stressful, especially since she wasn't the most pleasant person to deal with. You are most definitely entitled to your feelings!

Tech- I'm sorry that you and hubby have received distressing news. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted!

Shy-I agres with Tech-guys are always a good reason to watch sports!

Wardhog-let me know if you find that new gym-tehe

Lovn-Wow! you have a lot going on around you! I am so glad that you and your family are safe. Have to admit, you have the best stories.

littlerozzee-Good to see you!

Clyde-today's the big day! Have fun at your game!

Went shopping with the husband and both kids yesterday. We went mainly to get DS some new clothes as part of his graduation gift. I was surprised at how much fun we had. Hubby rarely shops for the kids-that's my job. He didn't complain once! DS is so use to shopping with me and looking for sales that he was in shock when Dad bought him something regular price! DD was on her best behavior and spent most of her time helping us find things for her brother-I was starting to wonder who these kids were!

Later that evening, both kids were out with friends. Instead of having a date night, hubby and I laid out the flooring in our basement (we're finishing the basement to make a separate storage area and wine cellar). My MIL (she lives with us) was shocked to see that we were home instead of out. We told her after a day of shopping with the kids, we needed to stay home-so this was our date!

Today will be a cleaning day. I will BBQ for Hubby tonight (he prefers for me to BBQ, says I do a much better job). Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday!

Rozzee, We're here, join us!!

Clyde, I can't waite to hear about your day!

Diane, Ooooo, you posted for your 15 hundredth time. Did it feel alike an anniversary lol OMGsh, you're SIL sounds like my SIL Jen, she'll drive 40 miles away to purchase something she saw advertised in a garage sale add. She then resells it for say $10 more than she paid and brags about her "profit." The way I see it there is no profit. She's got $8-$9 in gas plus 2 hours of her time. Like I said, no profit. Plus, she too has no problem asking for favors from those of us who have no time to give and never seems real appreciative either. See, I'm crabby about my SIL too. Thankfully, we have this safe place to come and complain!! Hope you're enjoying today!

mstigger, I don't know if my stories ar "the best," but I am a little delusional and think everyone wants to hear about my crazy days lol soooo, I do tend to share! It sounds like you had a wonderful family day yesterday. It just makes you feel good all over when everyone is co-operating with each other and even putting other's wants before their own, like your DD did. That is just icing on the cake!! I do the BBQing in our family too. I'm not sure my hubby would even know how to light the grill. It's not his thing and that's ok with me, because I love to cook. A wine cellar sounds lovely. Most of my basement is original from when the house was built more than 100 years ago. Needless to say our basement is storage only!!

It's a beautiful sunny day with blue skies and fluffy clouds. Me and the kids went to church while DH was at work and then I came home and rode my bike for 10 miles. That's the farthest I've gone this year. Maybe any year?!?! I had to carry my bike over a couple of things still left from the flooding and much of the trail was washy in a deep washboard way, but it felt just challenging enough to be enjoyable. Now I'm going to grill my hubby a big juicey burger and snuggle in and watch "The Bucket List" I heard it was sad. I hope it has enough funny to balance it out. This has all the makings of a wonderfull Sunday. DS doesn't even have basketball, because the gym they play in is being used to house evacuees (spelling). Just another reminder of how much I have to be thankful for.
Hope you all are enjoying your Sunday as well.

I haven't really been around the last few days. I have been in a lot of pain and I don't really feel like chit chat when this kind of pain hits. I am doing much better. Today I am just taking it easy and trying to get house work done. I have been doing my exercising but I am not counting it to wards any goals because I have because I haven't been putting my all into it. Figured moving the body was better than not moving at all. Hopefully I will be all caught up tonight with housework and laundry and start the week fresh tomorrow with exercise. Haven't had to worry about eating to much because I don't feel like eating at all lol. Good news is the lungs are doing pretty good so I am off the dreaded Prednisone. Haven't taken the pain mead Percoset all day so hopefully tomorrow my head will be clear lol.

Hello to all the newbies. Chat with you later

Hi girls.

I'm back from the game. What a great day. They won 7-6 in the 10th inning.

It was so hot today. I watched every second of the game. What a lovely stadium. It's really weird it looks so much bigger on TV.

I enjoyed everything about it from the organ music to the clapping to the fun between innings. I drank a lot of water and ate the nachos supreme with the works yummy.

They had a special tribute to a Cardinal's employee who died earlier this year and they gave every adult a voucher for a free ticket, so I will get to go again

The only bad thing Yadi Molina was injured at home plate in a collision in the 9th inning. He was stretchered off the field with a neck brace on. It was so quiet when they were attending to him. As they drove him off the field everyone was chanting Ya-di Ya-di. It looks like he suffered a concussion.

I swear I had goosebumps when I walked in there and saw the stadium.

Next time we go I hope to see Pujols play.

The good thing was we won the series against the Phillies

My daughter is going to the Mets game with her friend at the end of the month. She got the tickets for high honor roll the whole school year. I keep saying to her "Do you not want to take your mum? I'll be more fun!"

So my first major league ballgame, a great day. Priceless.

Hello to Everyone--

Thank you lovnmom for the instructions for editing my weight tracker.

For the most part i'll be keeping things general until i get "to know" you all.

I must make a comment to Clydegirl though as you spoke about a place that holds fond memories for me-Busch Stadium, although now that i'm writing this i seem to recall that it's a new and improved one from when i went as a child. So how are the Cards doing this year? One of the downsides of having relocated to the Seattle area is the baseball team that comes with the city. The Mariners appear to be a pretty pathetic team, so they're not much fun to follow. I'm glad you had a good time at the game. Hope you get back for the Mets game with your daughter.

Our weekend was really pleasant weather wise, for a change, as it's been unseasonably cool and grey, grey grey. I'm thinking about, and feeling for the folks in the midwest, Iowa and Wisconsin in particular, and wondering what the consequences of all that flood water flowing down the Mississippi is going to be for folks in Missouri and other places along the river.

As for me I ate more than my allotted calories today. My DD and I made blueberry muffins for DH today for Father's Day. There was some tasting of batter( a little bit, but it's amazing how quickly those calories add up) and i had two muffins and they were yummy. I'm pretty fortunate, i don't think binging is a problem for me. For the most part just logging my foods and keeping track of how many calories are in things works pretty well to keep me within my limit. I've tried really strict diets, i can't manage them for more than a day or so. I'm really trying to approach this in a reasonable fashion, tracking what i eat and cutting back 500 or so calories from what i've calculated it takes to maintain my weight. I'm getting results but they're coming slower than i'd like, but i know i'm only willing to limit my eating so much, at least at this point. I've already made such improvements in my food choices. I'm learning that a little of what i used to eat however much i wanted of is enough. I'm also learning that even a little of other things just uses up more calories than i'm willing to spend. And i'm learning that if i go long enough without drinking a regular coke, a diet coke actually tastes good. And i also guess i'm learning, although this is harder, that choosing to eat a couple of blueberry muffins may mean that i didn't stay within my goal for the day, but that doesn't mean i've blown it, because i've only blown it if i stop working at this completely. So my rate of weight loss will probably be slower than other people who eat fewer calories daily or just stick to their plan every day or exercise more but i'm making improvements in my eating and that's something to be proud of. I also got to Curves 3x last week, the first time in a long time. I'm very jazzed about that. The other exercise piece is the goal of 3 brisk 30 minute walks a week(the non Curves days). That will be a work in progress for a while, but i'm just thrilled to be back on the Curves wagon and i think there is a momentum that gets going with these things. One week of 3x down, many many many more to go. All of this stuff is for life(until i get too old many many years down the road) so i'm determined to do it in a way that is sustainable.

So thanks for reading my little novelette.
Having folks to share one's successes and frustrations with is so absolutely essential. Thanks for welcoming me ladies and thanks for being here.

Take care all and have a good Monday.

Rennie, Sorry to hear you're not up to snuff.

Clyde, Your day rocked, awesome!!

Carol ,Glad you're here!

Ailey, It sounds as though you and I are following much the same plan. I do lose slowly..far too slow for many, but I weigh 35 pounds less at almost 44 than I did at 42..that's progress I can live with..I'm not going to the prom next week or anything. I'm just trying to get more fit than I was before. Hang in there. It sounds like you have the right attitude. Two muffins are certainly no reason to throw in the towel. I'm glad you enjoyed Father's Day!

It's off to baseball, hunter's safety and pottery today. Many trips into town, because of course nothing starts at the same time. I'm hoping Mel can walk the 4 mile loop since our children are in some of the same activities. If not, I'll be going alone, again, but I'll be going! I'm planning to set our pool up today. We aren't suppose to see rain again until Fri. I should finally have enough time to get it filled and covered. The hot weather will be here and I want to be ready.
Have a terrific Monday!

luvnmom - sounds like you have a busy day!

Ailey - welcome - I'm from western WA too - been here since early this year - down 32lbs since then - yea!! slowly it's coming off - the last ones slower than the earlier ones - your 2 muffins are no reason to quit - it's just one day at a time - lord knows how many times I've fallen off the wagon..

Doing well - we finally got some nice weather over the weekend here - played a bit - went to a friend's graduation party - she's been at it for a loooonnnnggg time but finally got her bachelor's in communication.

finally dipped below 135 - and blew the food thing this weekend - but back on that wagon today!

Have a great day all!
