Hey everyone. Are we all the busiest people on the planet or what? Whew, reading what we all write is almost a workout unto itself - we are all on the go, all the time, everyday...
So another Little League game last night, and another loss. The team is now 0-7. Post-game reaction was pretty good, though; most of the boys shrugged their shoulders and just wanted to get some dinner. They just simply got out-hit in this particular game. The other team had some monster hits...there's not a whole lot you can do about that! One of our kids did get a home run which was quite exciting. I had to do pitch count for both teams, which required the total use of the few brain cells that were still functional at that point!
I am actually looking forward to exercising tonight, since I couldn't do so last night. Is that weird or what? My weight is holding steady which I guess is good but I want to break through and see a different number on the scale - a smaller number, that is!
This weekend is the first Mets/Yankees series of the season. We have Mets season tickets, but my husband will often sell these particular tickets, since he can get so much for them. We'll see what he does for these games coming up...I know my son would like to go. Of course it means a packed stadium and it can get a bit ugly - the rivalry is so incredibly hostile. So far the weather does not sound so great for the weekend, so it might be just as well to unload the tickets.
Happy Wednesday to all...half way through the week, woo hoo.
Whew! I'm trying to keep everyone straight--and not doing a very good job of it.
GT--You said you need to make a sale. What is it that you sell? That Garmin GPS sounds like a lot of fun! I am a coffee fiend, also. I haven't given it up. I figure it's got zero calories (I drink it black) and I'm giving up a lot of other stuff on my diet--the coffee STAYS.
Lovn--I'm jealous. We haven't had good enough weather here yet to hang clothes on the line. Lately, it seems like we only have 2 seasons here in MIchigan: a verrrrrrry long winter and a short summer. We have lost our spring and fall!
Kappy and Rennie--If you like dogs, you should read "Marley and Me." I am reading it for the second time because I'm in a book club and this is the book we are reading this month. Oh my, it is laugh-out-loud funny! I was reading a passage to my husband, and I was laughing so hard the tears were streaming down my face and he could barely understand what I was saying. A must-read for dog lovers.
I am going to begin physical therapy today for my ankle. Stupid, klutzy me twisted my ankle 3 weeks ago when I stepped on an uneven surface. I went back to the orthopedic doc today for a recheck and even though my ankle is still pretty swollen, he wants me to begin physical therapy on it. I have twisted this particular ankle 6-7 times and it is very, very weak. Thus the PT, so that I hopefully won't do this anymore. I also had a steroid shot in my shoulder today. I injured it last fall when I began swimming and it has just continued to get more painful. I have already been the Celebrex and oral steroid route and they have done nothing. I am hoping this shot relieves the pain so that I can get back to my swimming routine. This is exercise that I love to do--and we all know we stick with exercise that we enjoy.
Irish - I sell radio advertising for a 6 station radion group in Southeast Georgia, covering 19 counties. It's not a sale a day, but is nice when it is! It's all based on commission, so the more I sell, the more mullah I make! As a matter of fact, once I posted that this morning, I made 3 mega sales today, all for the month of May! So I've had a GREAT day so far!!! Good luck on your PT! I know it will make it stronger.
LetsGoMets - Just tell the kids to keep their chins up! Fun is what its all about. (yeah, that's easier said than done as I'm an extremely competitive person!). Hope you and your family get to go to the game this weekend...sounds like an exciting one!
Happy Wednesday everyone. I have 2 weddings and 3 engagement sessions over the course of the next 4 days. Tis the season. So I'm going to be one sore and tired puppy by Sunday night.
Thank you all for all the good thoughts and suggestions about my friend (who I'm going to refer to as M here from now on, just to make it easier). I am definitely showing him a positive, happy side when we talk and when I'm with him. In fact he chided me the other day for 'being brave' and told me that it was ok if I was upset or scared. I told him that I honestly wasn't being brave and that the very worst part for me was the feeling helpless part when *he* was down. We talked about it a little and he knows that I'm the person he can come to when he needs a some drama-free time - and I'm glad I can be that person for him. We have a lunch date tomorrow and we may just go wild and have cheesecake for dessert. Whatever makes him happy!
Speaking of food ... and going wild ..
I've decided that I need to be accountable in more ways than I have been. I'm going to publish the link to my Daily Plate, starting with May. *gulp* Everyone can see what I've eaten and yell at me if they think I need it!
Three things to note:
(1) because of my weekend schedule, I don't track food on Sat/Sun. I try to make healthy choices on those days, but honestly I'm on my feet and working for 10+ hours, so I'm not really worried about calories consumed vs. calories burned.
(2) I don't track exercise at all because I don't really think the numbers are accurate and besides I'm not about "net" calories. I mostly want to track what I consumed for the day and that's it.
(3) My calorie goal there is set at 1500, but on days I lift weights, I try to eat closer to 1700. This week will be the exception, where I'm workign on sticking closer to 1500, but adding in more protein.
My amazing, athletic, klutzy nephew managed to nail the inside of his left ankle with the bowling ball he was sending down the lane. Or should I say trying to send down the lane. It didn't go far after impacting said ankle. Which was sore as can possibly be last night. I wasn't a whole lot of help, I kept teasing him about doing it to himself!
I used to have a dog that was half Lab, half Rhodesian Ridgeback. I was her sixth owner by the time she was 8 months old. I thought the extreme energy, the craziness was the Ridgeback. After a week around my sister's Lab I have to rethink that and apologize to all Ridgebacks out there! Both dogs are/were amazing and I wouldn't trade my time with either of them for anything, but good golly I need a much calmer, much quieter dog when I get one again!
With the stress off about the future and my job I lost a pound and a half last night. So it's back to exercise and tracking food intake, time to get back on track and make some progress here!
kappy
Sounds like your nephew has a great talent for self destruction lol.

I don't track exercise on fit day either. It is all about calories in and calories out. None of those sites are very accurate on exercise. We don't exercise so we can eat more lol we exercise because it is good for us.

I am not a dog lover but I love to read things that make me laugh. I will see if I can find the book. This darn dog of ours. I hate this dog, I have always hated this dog. She has been under my feet since the day we got her about 14 years ago. She isn't doing well. I have to pick up her back legs now and take her outside to do her business. This stupid dog, I find I love this darn dog. My gosh, I have had her almost as long as I have had my daughter who is 18 this year. She is doing better on pain because of the mads but now is the time I am going to have to talk to the vet about keeping her around or letting her go. I am not going to keep her here with me if she is in pain and isn't going to be able to get around. She isn't happy that she can't walk her yard and make sure everything is ok. I take her out and she tries to crawl around the yard and I have to catch her real quick to keep her from doing this.
I meant to post earlier but got busy. We finished painting today, just some touch ups to do. I've changed my kitchen around and want to get some new stuff. We will look at lights at the weekend.
American Idol it will be the two David's in the finale next week. I'd like David Cook to win.
I've enjoyed reading everyone's posts today. We are an interesting bunch of girls on here.
Lovn that sounded like a good day yesterday. i especially liked the tuna salad sandwiches for dinner. I didn't feel like cooking tonight so we had breakfast burittos for dinner.
Letsgo, I skipped exercise for 4 days last week and have been going strong the last couple of days again and it feels awesome. I don't know how I survived before making it a habit.
Irish, Good luck with PT
Photo, That's the way to be pro-active about your food. Have a fun working weekend. Did you take the pic for your new avatar?
Kappy, You're sounding much better. Terrific!
Rennie, Sorry to hear about your dog. Those under the feet nuisances are the hardest ones to lose. Hang in there.
Clyde, Good luck on weigh in today.
Hectic day today. A lot of prep for an upcoming village event this weekend. I'm in charge of a cute "box" car derby. I need to paint the track. Get some flyers out etc....and still make time for the hubs and for some exercise!!
Have a great Day!!
Hi everyone. Well, just said goodbye to my son as he goes on an overnight trip to Denver. He's so excited. I'm glad he's going to have a bunch of fun today because it is his birthday. He's 12 today. --I'm going to miss him while he's gone, he's such a sweet boy. We'll have a birthday movie night on Saturday with 4 of his friends. It's interesting to hang around with boys that age. Especially when they forget that I'm around. ha!
I'm hoping to get a really good walk in today. The last couple of days have not worked out at all.
I need to exercise. I have not done any walking in a couple of weeks but the weather has been so awful here and I've been really busy. I know no excuse, I should make the time.
Didn't make it to the gym last night as DH managed to pass out while he was getting his knee drained at the dr's office .. and called me from the ER to say "um, can you come get me". Oy.
Lovn - I did take my avatar photo - it's one of the table centerpieces from a wedding I photographed last year.
More later.

Greetings and salutations, everyone. Happy Thursday.
So after being all excited to get back to exercising yesterday...I ended up not doing so!! I simply ran out of available time. I had to take my car in for its 30K mile "check up" and the dealership is completely out of my way to and from work. So by the time I got home I was way off schedule. It seems as if there's just a small window of time for me to exercise and last night, that window slammed shut. Oh well - tonight for sure!!!
I've mentioned that I have a friend (from high school) who works for the National Thoroughbred Racing Association. Well, I finally sent him an email earlier this week, to see how he was holding up after the disasterous Kentucky Derby. I heard back from him last night and he said the last week and a half was pretty bad. He's down in Baltimore now, since the Preakness is being run this Saturday. He sounds miserable - he said he doesn't care who wins, as long as all the horses get around the track safely. My heart goes out to him; regardless of what is being said about horseracing these days (animal cruelty, etc.), I just want to support my friend during a tough time. He's holding up, but wants it all to be over.
Turns out this weekend's Met/Yanks games are at Yankee Stadium so we do not have tix for them, only the series later on at Shea. We'll settle for watching on TV! Just as well, the Sunday game is the national game and starts at 8:00 p.m. or thereabouts - way too late to go to when a certain child has school the next day!
Speaking of said child, he and the rest of the 5th graders are in Manhattan today, seeing an opera at Lincoln Center ("Cinderella"). My son was more excited about getting to take a coach bus into the city and watching a movie on board - he could not care less about the opera! Ay yi yi. As long as he behaves...[fingers crossed!]
OK, back to work; I have a conference call in about 2 minutes. Have a great day, all!!!

1/2 hour before you crawl into bed is always available. I find if we do without sleep a few days lol we find time to get the exercise in so we can not take our sleep time lol. Don't we all cross our fingers that our kids will be good when they are away from home

Hope your hubby is ok.
clyde
Nice going on the loss. You know walking/aerobic videos are great for when we just can't get outside.
slash
12 is such a great age for boys.
lovn
She is doing a bit better today. She is trying to walk around but can't walk on the back legs yet. If she would just give herself time to get better instead of trying to chase the darn rabbits in the back yard as soon as she can stand she would be better off. Have an appointment with the vet Friday.
Photo, Good wishes to the hubs. You really captured the peonies well!
Letsgo, not sure what kind of exercise you prefer, but next time maybe take a walk while you waite for your car. It's amazing how these little strolls can help your outlook (waiting is so awful) and your weight loss. Just a suggestion.
Rennie, You still haven't added that 11th smiley! tsk tsk Gotta brag when you can girl!
Leaving for a walk now. Planning on just 3 miles. Hopefully the kids will want to play tennis or ride bike later too.

I have a treadmill that I absolutely love to use. It's down in the basement, and I have a boom box down there, so I'll crank up the tunes (classic rock - nice and loud) and do my thing. As for the car - I'd dropped it off in the morning, got a loaner car and when I returned after work, my car was ready and waiting for me.
The thing is...my son, being a special needs kid, must be heavily supervised when it comes to his homework. He unfortunately cannot work too independently (other than reading; he's at grade level and is totally fine to read by himself for long stretches). Anyway, as soon as I get home from work, I do my treadmill session and then we have dinner. After that, we deal with his homework which can take anywhere up to an hour, depending on what he's got going. And of course there are always a million chores to do, bills to pay, phone calls to answer, laundry...all that great stuff we all need to do!! So that 30 minutes when I get home is really the only time I get. If I miss it...it's gone. I know exercise should be a priority but...it doesn't always work out that way! Like the nights he's got a ball game...all bets are OFF!
Tonight I'll exercise no matter what. I won't be able to live with myself if I don't . The weekend is fast approaching...my riding instructor is back from her honeymoon, so I should be back in the saddle - literally - by Sunday. Whee!
