 Kappy glad to see you back. That's a big step just starting to post again. I'm sure you will be in a better frame of mind after getting that off your chest. Sometimes it's good to vent.
Diane hope you feel better there's a lot of sickness going around at the moment. I need to weigh in tomorrow hope this cold/cough hasn't jinxed me. Our local tv station is doing a biggest loser competition. They weigh in every 2 weeks. Today was the first weigh in and boy they lost some big numbers. Some of the women lost 15, 17 and 20 lbs. They each have a trainer and are following The Seattle Sutton programme. |
Diane, sorry to hear you've been ill. Good healthy vibes coming your way. Catch us up when you're up to it!
Clyde, Wow! Those are big numbers. My goal was to lose just 11 pounds from Nov, 2007 - May, 2008 and it's going to take me every day of those months lol Good luck on your weigh in. Hi Rennie! As for my weigh in. It was not exactly what I wanted to see, but I'm still on track and I'm still losing. That's what's important. I popped up to 143.8 this morning so my ticker only get's to go down 1#. At my age though slow and steady has been winning this race. I really don't give up much on my menu and the exercise I'm doing is keeping me more fit than many women 10 and 15 yrs my junior so....I pat myself on the back and will start Feb in a good frame of mind. I've ordered some exercise dvd's from the library that use an exercise ball. I'm not sure where I'll add it to my walking, but I want something to build some upper body strength and help insure that I don't get bored with my routine before spring has sprung. I never get bored walking outdoors even in 95* with 99% humidity. Typically Feb is my hardest month to keep on keeping on. I'm thankful I have friends here at 3FC that I know will keep me moving. Have a great day everyone! |
Thursday weigh in and I'm down 2.5lbs.
Lovn you are still down for the month. One pound at a time. You know how us woman are with hormones and TOM, all those things that affect our weight. So keep on keeping on and do those exercise dvd's. You're probably dropping inches. |
Clyde, thanks for everything, hope you're feeling tons better. If I could lose 2 1/2 pounds I'd be throwing a party!
Diane, Lovnmom, everybody thanks for the feedback. As some of you said, I did just have to get it out. And BTW Lovnmom, videos are very sneaky. You think as much as you walk no big deal, but some of those videos will smack you upside the head and leave you feeling like the most out of shape rookie on the planet. It's mostly because it's not your normal groove, it's different and making you work harder mentally while working differently physically. The point isn't to do them perfectly, it's to just do something. It can be a lot of fun. Strange way to have fun, but it can be. Speaking of getting it out, and I know so many of you with kids in sports will understand, what in the name of all that's holy is with the freakin' adults and youth sports? I mean good golly, the politics and backstabbing in the stands is absolutely intolerable. The more you try to stay away from it the more it seems to just wait for you to not pay attention and smack you. I've seen teams destroyed by the parent/coaching conflicts. If it isn't the parents witching to the coaches about how unfair their precious is being treated, it's parent against parent. It's for the kids, what do our egos have to do with it? In my specific case our coach is telling us one thing in private then making public statements that are not remotely similar. To the other families we appear as vindictive and petty, unsportsmanlike, liars and dirty in our "attempts to smear a great man". I don't believe it was this "great man's" intent, but he has managed to make my nephew more aware of just how important this sport is to him. He's rededicated himself to getting into the best possible shape so that next season when he tries out for a different club he will become this "great man's" worse nightmare to play against. We adults just have to get past the emotional pain of the present to support him in the future. It shouldn't have to be this way. |
lovn
Every pound we lose is one less we still have to lose. That is how I look at it anyway lol. Clyde Nice going. I am jealous over your weigh in :) |
Great job Clyde...woo hoo!
Even pee wee sports can be a pain. All 4 of my darlings play something at 4 different age levels. There is one mother (at least) in each age level that the magority of us avoid sitting by in the stands. I can hardly sit with my best friend at our son's games. She turns into a total different person at every event. The boys have just started playing league basketball. They've been in two tournaments and have taken first place in both. Both weekends she has turned that huge positive into a negative by yelling at the refs and timing how long her son sits the bench!!! Honestly he sits less than most. He's talented, but never gets to just enjoy it, because his mom is always looking for unfairness. She's actually sent me cards after games that say, " Sorry I Spoiled Your Fun etc..." lol I love her every place ELSE lol |
Kudos to all that have lost any amount of weight toward their goal. It is hard losing and so easy to pack the pounds on. Lovn, Kappy is right on about those videos -- I think I'm in great shape what with kickboxing, skating, treadmill, etc but put one of those dvd's in and wow, what a workout. Using different muscles and different movements, boy do I ever notice it. But, I just keep working away even if I miss some moves. They key is definitely to keep moving.
Chris PS down another 2 lbs:) --- 14 to go!! PSS Thanks to Evil for mentioning Fitday to me. The calorie counting really seems to be working big time. Found out that while my diet was healthy. It was just a little too healthy. My portions were larger than necessary and my fat intake was approx 40% of calories (cheese'll do it to me every time). I've been really watching it and in the last 3 weeks managed to drop 4 lbs. Thank goodness. |
Chris
Fitday really is a great tool. When I started useing it I found the same thing. My diet was ok I was a bit heavy on the carbs. Have to keep an eye on them. |
Great job Chris!

Good job on the weight loss, everyone. I'm really coming around now and getting over this sickness stuff. I'm going to brave the scale on Monday and start doing some walking again. I need to catch up with all of you!
Don't even get me started with kids and sports. That's a lot of my life right now with my two. Unfortunately, adults tend to lose their minds when they are at their kids' games and make it all about their needs and desires. I've seen it over and over. It usually isn't a bunch of parents either, it usually is just one or two... or a really bad coach. My son has a different coach for basketball this year and the change has been amazing. He is playing so much better and he gets the ball and he gets to shoot!!! woo hoo! The past 3 years were all with the same coach who had the agenda of showcasing his son. He is a nice man, but just not a very good coach. Glad to be away from that this year!! |
Morning all! Did my monthly tape measure check this morning, I'm worse off than I was on 12/1. So. Not only am I having a battle with the stupid scale it's also the tape measure. Back to the beginning, again! Fitday isn't showing anything really different than back then, so I'm at a loss. But I will figure it out eventually!
Going back a bit, I have tried no less than 5 different types/sets/models of eyeglass screwdrivers. Would you believe they are all too big to change the blessed batteries on the heart rate monitor and the accompanying watch? All of the eyeglass screwdrivers are flat and these gizmos need a philips. A very tiny philips! Naturally I got to the watch place just after closing last night, so it's still on the list of things yet to get done. Michele -- how is your son? How are you?? |
kappy
Maybe just a little tweak is in order. Lower your carbs just a tad or maybe your fat. Sometimes it isn't how many calories we are eating but that we are taking in to much of something. Slash I was the parent complaining about the little kids that never got to play. They paid just like everyone else in the summer programs and since their parents weren't the big mouths or the big wigs in the community or they weren't the best players they sat. My kids were the ones that said they would sit out so the other kids could play and they meant it. I taught them it was a game. It is how you treat people that matter. |
Mrc
lovnmom -
MRC stands for Metabolic Research Center. I live in Portland, Oregon and met a woman that works there and she encouraged me to join. It has only been a week since I joined, but the program is pretty easy to follow. I am never really hungry and I feel pretty energetic. I do miss my wine, though. :( |
Snowday.
I always seem to end up cooking on snowdays. Everyone always wants foods that will warm you to the bone. I pit my meals into Fitday yesterday and was surprised by the ammount of carbs I had in relation to the protein. Stay warm everyone. |
clyde
I have to cook everyday lol. |
