As Clyde said ( sorry I didn't explain myself ) I do walking/aerobic videos. I happen to love Leslie Sansone. I think you can get her videos up to 5 miles. Sometimes I do 2 miles sometimes 3 miles right now, haven't been able to do the 5 mile ones I have yet. Every now and again I do a 1 mile walking marathon so to speak. Was shooting for 10 miles today but looks like I am only going to get 6 miles in. Knee just isn't going to let me do more than that I don't think. Clyde We all go through that from time to time. Don't let it get you down. Just get back on track and go forward. I like the skinny cow sandwiches. There are so many kinds so you never get bored with them. |

WELCOME You will find great people here just full of encouragement. Don't be a strange. Post often and let us know how things are going. |
Clydegirl. Step away from the doughnut!!!!
I live with my parents and my 7 year old daughter. There are always snacks about. It drives me bonkers, but I'm determined to have more control over those urges. Especially when I see fat in places I've never been fat before. Those tapes sound good. My gym is a little bit far away and in Texas it gets sooo hot out that you don't want to even go outside, much less walk. |
OK confession time. I've had 4 pretzels, some sugar free jello and 2 large glasses of water.

I love the vidoes. I don't have to leave the house and there isn't anything close anyway.I keep snacks in the house, no reason everyone has to do without because I don't want to eat things BUT there are snacks in the house that I don't eat. My favorites are never in the house lol. Clyde All sounds good but the water. Water is to take a shower with lol. |
It's girl scout cookie time here and at one point I had 40 boxes in my living room - 8 of which I had ordered for us. I made a friend of mine buy them off me so he could give them to his 14 year old boy twins and to share with his staff at his office. I have yet to eat any. I want to so bad, but I know I'll feel better if I don't.
I take insulin, so I think I might get to lower the dose since I'm working out again. That is very very exciting to me. Although when I was cooking my eggs for dinner (mmmm spinach), my hands were shaking b/c I'm not used to normal blood sugar levels. My favorite video is the tai-bo tapes. Even doing the 20 minute workout years ago had my bootie looking more J-Lo than Way-Low. And who knew how hard it is to box... my arms, my arms! I heard the wii boxing will do that to your arms as well. |

I could have REALLY done without that piece of information lol. Is there anything better in the world than peanut butter Girl Scout Cookies. I am going to have to unplug the phone, disconnect my door bell and not leave the house until the cookie sales are over. OH MY GOSH I LOVE Girl Scout Peanut butter cookies lol. I am NOT going to buy any. There is no way they could be in the house and me not eat them all up at one time. SEE I have weaknesses too lol. I am so proud of myself. Since I had a whole day that I really had nothing to do. I decided today was going to be my 10 miles 1 mile walking/aerobic video at a time marathon day. I didn't think I was going to be able to do it but I DID IT. Wow I feel great. |
Good Morning everyone :)
Shy....WTG!! That's Awesome...I checked out Leslie Sansone on Ebay...might get a few to start with....am I correct in assuming that you Walk but don't really walk?? Are they aerobic exercises that go on for a time and are supposed to be the equivalent of walking a mile? That would be cool for me as being as heavy as I am, walking any distance except to the bathroom is a chore and difficult for my knees and ankles! However, I can ride a bike! I am currently up to about 8-9 miles at a stretch. Next week I hope to increase that distance to 10 miles. Riding is much much easier on my knees and ankles and really give my thighs a work out! Clyde...keep pushing that water! H2O is awesome for your body. Have you tried Green Tea? I get the Bigelow Green Tea, Green Tea with Peach and Green Tea with Pomegranate....add a spoon of Splenda and that keeps me satisfied. I am blessed that I already liked having water most of the time. I quit the pepsi and coke fad years ago....although I still love an occasional Ginger Ale.....even better a half glass of wine and half ginger ale...my own version of a wine cooler! I love discovering new recipes that are good for me. I have never really tried to lose a lot of weight before, having come to the conclusion that some of us are just big...but not anymore. I am 46 and if I don't get control of this now, I could be on a walker by the time I am 50. That’s not encouraging. So, I decided that this year I will learn as much as I can about Nutrition and then apply that knowledge. Knowledge is so Empowering. I keep a journal and write down every single thing I eat. I made an excel spread sheet and it calculates my daily totals in calories and percentages. I am amazed how writing it down and seeing the nutritional values right there in black and white have kept me from eating things that aren't so good for me. Tomorrow is week 5. On Week one....YIKES!!!....I allowed my hubby to take full length pics of me from the front, the back and both sides....OMG....I am sooooooo freakin fat! I haven't had a full length pic taken in well, I don't even remember the last time I let someone take a full shot of me. Now I know why! OMG....I have got to do something and now! Tomorrow, I will take more full shots. And I will continue to take full shots every 5 weeks. Then I will do a side by side comparison....because as I lose, I don't "see" the change so much week to week. It's like when your kids grow up in front of your eyes everyday, one day they just seem to have grown up...but when you see maybe a cousin or niece etc...maybe once or twice a year, my how they seem to have grown like a weed. So I am hoping that having side by side comparisons, I can encourage myself even more. It’s just a goal. At any rate....I don't know how to add a ticker yet...but here are my stats... beginning weight 348.6, week 1 341.5, week 2 337.1, week 3 328.4, week 4 324.8....tomorrow is Wednesday Weigh In....I am fortunate to live within a mile of my doctors office and can ride my bike for a weigh in every week....so I have made myself accountable that way...and he doesn't charge me anything for his nurse to weight me in and record it. I don't like it but I go. It keeps me on track. Now, I have all of YOU to help as well. Thanks everyone for your support :) Let's get fit this year together. Cheerio rainbowsmiles |
Rainbow, It's wonderful to have you posting here. Remember girl you ARE doing something about it already. Your not in the considering it stage. You are in the attack stage and you are doing awesome. Good luck in your efforts finding someone close to home, but I hope you'll keep posting here. Rennie always has great advice and Wendy (evilwoman) knows alot about exercise. Me, I mostly walk. It's cheap and easily accessible. I had some of the tapes that Rennie uses. Yes, VCR tapes, but they've all bit the dust and I haven't replaced them, but they are really good and Leslie Sansone gives really good encouragement as you walk along in your living room. You could probably get them from a library just to try them for free. I love the "take in" that's cool.
Clyde, Some days you just have to eat what you want. Not as much of it as you'd want maybe lol I had pie and lazagna on Sat. Not the whole pie, but more than a slice and a good size chunk of lazagna. I haven't felt deprived or had a craving since. Don't feel guilty. Just move on. Rennie, Great job on the 10 miles!!! How often do you start the dvd over to complete that? You commented to Clyde that water is for showers. Do you not do the 2 quarts a day thing? How do you stay hydrated? Do you use like crys_al li_ht or something. There's a new thread that was started last week "what diet rules do you NOT use". It was pretty neat to see that most of the biggest losers didn't follow alot of the "universal" rules for losing...Like you, I feel terrific when I serve in my community. I like trying to make a difference. As far as my feet...they aint always pretty. I were AV_A shoes and they work great for me. P.S. the girl who hates P.B loves Girl Scout P.B. cookies?!?!?! That makes me giggle. I'm a thin mint gal myself mmm good! Welcome Jane, I think it's great you're taking steps toward a healthier you. I'm really looking forward to chatting with you. Have a good day Kappy. My day's just started and not much to share yet. I just wanted to get caught up with all the chattin'. Type at you later! |
Rainbow, I forgot. Click on UserCP in the upper left and then go to you signature. There's directions there on how to add a ticker.

Hi everyone and welcome to the new posters! Cool! Keep posting and we'll try to support you while you support us!
Well, I got on the scale and it wasn't good, but it could have been worse, so I'm going to look on the happy side for now. It snowed... again... yesterday, but today is supposed to be clear. I'm heading out at lunch time to do some walking. I have to get some exercise!!! Cabin fever is really making me cranky! Crankier... But, I also packed a nice salad for lunch and I'm ready to go! I went out with my son last night to shoot some hoops, but we didn't last that long. It got cold pretty darn fast. I'm ready to get back to going out with them after work. If the weather would just cooperate. Rainbow: You are brave to take those pictures. I think it is a good thing to do so you can see the progress as you lose weight, but I'm sure it is hard to get the courage to take the pictures. It sounds like you have a good plan going, so you'll do great! Have a great day everyone! |
thanks clyde :) how are you this morning?
|
I'm good, just had my oatmeal, threw out the doughnut :D
I've been looking at Tom Petty tickets, enjoyed his Superbowl show and I heard this morning that Steve Winwood is supporting him. I love Steve Winwood saw him a long time ago in Birmingham England. |
