Well, Im a Newbie
I have decided to find 5 friends in my area... We are going to do a Weight Watchers program at my house each Sunday.. Beginning next Sunday...
:dizzy: It seems that programs always work better when you have to look someone else in the eyes each week... Grunt... sooooooooooooo,,, Any suggestions for help would be great... |
Hi Everyone! Hope you don't mind me joining your thread. As you can see from my joining date (2001:o) I've been an on and off visitor to this site for some years. My weight gain has been getting steadily worse over the years and it's time that I finally stopped messing around and wasting my life. A couple of friends of mine have recently had very successful weight loss and they look and feel fantastic ... I want that for me! I've had a couple of weeks off work over the Christmas holiday, and my parents have been here visiting for the past month ... they return to the UK on Wednesday. My son is going back to University in the UK on Friday, and I'm back to work tomorrow. This week I can get back into a 'normal' routine and I'm looking forward to making a new start. I'm going to weigh-in tomorrow and I'll update my weight loss tracker then. Looking forward to getting to know you all.:)

Welcome Begaboo,
Thats great to have 5 friends to support you. You can do this, one day at a time and you will reach your goal. Eat less and move more is the best tip I have.. Welcome Nichola, You can do this, you just have to FOCUS and you too can reach your goal. |
Welcome Begabo and Nichola, Like Wendy said. You can do it. We're here to listen and help along the way.
Today's going to be a challenge. Pot luck at church to celebrate Gladys's 100th b-day and I need to take my DD shopping. She's performing at the Masonic Center as part of an All State JH choir. The attire needs to be black bottom, white top, no high hems, no high heels, no low neckline. Of course she owns an outfit that fills the bill, but I want her to know this is a wonderful accomplishment and to feel her very best when she hits the risers. I'm wondering where I will find time to walk the 3 miles I have scheduled for today. At least it's warm, but it will probably be dark by the time I have time. Which means back to the TM. Ugghhh!! Have a happy Sunday ladies! |
lovn
Bet you get the 3 miles in shopping lol. Tell your daughter I said I hope she has a wonderful time and if I were there I would give her a wonderful bundle of flowers for her accomplishment. Your son seems like a great kid. Nice attitude and hope you had fun. Nichola WELCOME Normal is good. Normal lets us set a nice pace for our selfs and plan out what we are going to do. Sometimes this means writing everything down. Plan out your meals. Fit day is a great tool to help you do this. Eating the right amounts of the four basic food groups and exercising is really important. I know you can do it. YOU know you can do it. Now is the time to not worry about the past but to look to the future. You are not alone. All of us are on the same journey to a more Heath and thinner person. You come here and post all the time, as much as you like. Let us know what is going on. Heaven knows we talk about more than weight loss. OK, we are basically nosy people and like to know what each other are up to lol. We really do care, we understand it isn't always easy. Sometimes, just being around people who are trying to do the same thing helps. Begebo That sounds wonderful. Do you already go to WW meetings? That would be a place to start to find people in your area. How about church or some other group you belong to? You could find people there that are interested. I know the internet is a little scary sometimes but I am sure there are WW chat groups that you could find people in your area that would love to have a personal group to belong to that meet face to face. Good luck. It is very important to be around like minded people when you have a goal you want to meet. Storygirl WELCOME We all come to the site with different lives and story's. Can't wait to hear yours. Sometime I will tell you about the time my son tied my daughter to a tree in the front yard and put a free sign on her lol. My son is now 21 at the end of this month and my daughter turned 17 in October. Where does the time fly. Your children are old enough that you don't have to take care of them every min. Gives you time for yourself. NOW is the time to think about yourself, your weight and your health. You can do it. Setting some limits, taking control and feeling good about yourself are a few of the things you are going to be doing on this journey we are all taking to a more healthy and thinner person. You will find tons of encouragement here. You will also be around a great group of lady's that know it isn't always easy. We love to chat with each other and help each other along the way. Please post and let us know how things are going. Evil Nice ideas. Never could get into the banana sandwiches, really don't know why. My kids like the peanut butter on celery. I never could get myself to mess up a perfectly good piece of celery like that lol. Breakfast is usually, a couple of servings of egg beaters or an egg with shredded cheddar cheese, two pieces light wheat toast, orange juice and an apple. Ok, takes me a few hours to eat all that but it is my pre breakfast and breakfast lol. |

Hi Ladies,
Thanks to you all for the welcome!:) I've weighed-in this morning and updated my tracker ... thankfully, I haven't reached my heaviest weight again, so that's a bit of a bonus! I've started my new healthy eating plan today, and I've made sure that all the Christmas goodies have gone! I'm counting calories and writing everything down as someone suggested ... I've done this in the past and it really does help to keep me on track. I'm doing it at my own pace this time and I'm not going to set myself any unrealistic goals. I'm not going to broadcast it to the world that I'm trying to lose weight, unlike in the past when everyone at work has known I've been on a diet and I've ended up feeling like all eyes are watching me! I'm doing it for me, and only me ... no one else needs to know. I've tried it the other way, thinking that if other people know that I'm trying to lose weight it will keep me on track, but it seems to have the opposite effect on me, putting me under too much pressure ... which I really don't need!! I'm feeling really positive right now, and I know that I can do this if I put my mind to it. Wishing everyone success in 2008 ... we can all do it!!:grouphug: |
Welcome jbar, you know how to do it, 105 pounds lost before, you can certainly do it again! I am sure you have learned from your past mistakes, new year, clean slate, continue to FOCUS and those 40 pounds will be a thing of the past. Losing weight is far easier than keeping it off, but it is doable. You CAN do this!
Nichola, good attitude you have, yes you can do this! Everybody else, hope your sticking to your healthy ways and exercise plans. Have a good week people. ~Wendalyn |
Rennie ,Thanks for the kind words. My son is a great kid. The neighboring town we played in yesterday has always been my little towns HUGE rival. Many times with fouls getting realy ugly and even parents being awful to each other in the stands. Not all the players or all the parents, but that handful that take it too serious and make it awful for the rest of us. You could see the tide change yesterday......STORY TIME.....Our local soccer league is a 3 community volunteer effort. Myself and a woman from the town we played in yesterday have been the backbone of the league for the past 7 yrs. Both of us striving to make soccer a great experience for all the players, no matter what town they are from. Many times her son's team would not have enough players so we would lay out the schedule making it so my son could play on their team as well as our towns team....ok here's the tide changing....yesterday my son got around her's on the court, made the shot, and her son fouled mine ( hard enough he hit the floor) my son jumps up off the floor, high fives her son with a big grin on his face, and both boys headed for their spot on the free throw lane. There are 2 other boys on that town's BB team that play soccer as well. Through their entire game yesterday they were all just having fun. Competing of course, but all in the best nature. That's fun to watch. As for shopping with my daughter, I probably did walk quite a bit. I'm always nervous before going shopping with her, because my daughter and I are shaped nothing alike. I'm short with big hips, average waiste and bust. My daughter is tall, long legged,no butt, larger waiste, very large bust. Our problem areas are not the same and I really have no idea how to help her choose. Luckily she's is forming some style of her own now and yesterday went very well. She chose wisely and bought a couple nice outfits and 2 pair of sassy shoes. It was just a nice day. Phew!!!......I'm tempted right now to tie my two middle children to the tree with FREE signs on them. Pick, pick, pick. I've had it lol.....I see you've dropped another 5#. WTG girlfriend!!!!
Begabo, the internet is full of terrific sites for cooking lighter and still ending up with great tasting food. Hang in there. JMF, I had no idea about the scholarship availability. WIth the tiny school my children attend. There's a very good chance she could be chosen 5 yrs in a row. That would be awesome!! JBAR, Way to jump back on the healthy wagon. Making the decision to stop gaining now before it's all back on is the first step. You know how to do it. We'll be here to support you along the way. Nichola, Choosing a slower pace and just making better choices, rather than deciding to lose 30# in the next 3 months is a good mind set. As for the secret thing and all eyes being on you. When I started AGAIN a year and a half ago I actually lied to people so they wouldn't nose about my business. When friends and family first noticed my eating and exercising changes, of course they had to ask, "are you on a diet?" What I told them was, at my last couple of Dr apts my blood presure has been up, he told me I should try to get a little more exercise and drink more water to keep my system flushed of salt or I'd end up on meds etc....I could almost see their eyes glaze over with boredom. I was not at death's door and I was not unhappy with my appearance so there was no "train wreck" to watch. I can honestly say I've had no one bring up my healthy lyfestyle since the first couple of months. People aren't nearly as interested when you're doing it for health reasons. It's in poor taste to say things behind your back when you're doing it for your health rather than for the size of your jeans. lol I got no exercise in yesterday, but I should have time for a long walk today. It's very foggy so maybe I should wear Chritmas lights on my hiney lol Sorry for the novella once again, but you guys just make me want to chat. Have agreat day!! |
wooooooooooo hooooooooo
1st weight in... check it out... feel the love,, feel the love.. oh yea,, oh yea..:carrot:
|
Begaboo!!
Wow!! How awesome!! Way to go!! Keep it up and you'll be there in no time!! :carrot::carrot::carrot: |
Hey everyone. Just a quick note.
My computer is down at home and they are cracking down on personal computer usage at work, so I might be gone for awhile. Dang! Anyway, I tried to read quickly and catch up... What a fun group we are becoming! I'll be catching up forever when I finally get back on. Stay strong everyone! |
Only 24 hours
Ok - first week of the new year - trying to lose AGAIN - my sons birthday party was this past weekend and I did eat a cupcake - but besides that I did pretty good. Lost 3 lbs this week! Whoopie. Trying to work exercise into my day but I haven't got back into a routine since time off for the holidays. I'm going to work on that this week. Anyone else figured out how to fit all you have to do in 24 hours AND exercise. If so let me know!!
