Nice going on the weight loss. I guess it just depends on what you have to do a day. Sometimes you need to decide what is important and what isn't. Sit and make a list at night of what needs to be done the next day. Then look at the list. Do you really need to do this or that? Of course people have to go to work, they have to clean house, do laundry and shop for food. Church is another that many of us have on the have to list. If a person has children there are things that have to be done with the kids? Do we have our children's lives so full of activities that they are to busy? Other than those things there are a million different things that people do that make their lives so busy. Are they really so important? Are they more important than taking the time to eat a healthy diet and exercise 1/2 hour a day? Slash Wondered if it might be something like that. Come in when you can and let us know how things are going. Bega Nice going. Keep looking forward. Think about this summer when it is hot and you have less weight to lose than you did when you started this journey. The summer isn't so hard to get thru. That is at least what I do. I look forward to summer this year instead of dread it coming. lovn We went thru the same thing when our kids were in summer sports soft ball. You would have some parents in the stand yelling at their kids and at the other kids. I just couldn't believe it. Ok, I am not that competitive but darn, it is suppose to be fun. It really should be " not if you win or lose, but how you play the game". Sports is just another way to learn to compete and be fair and nice to people at the same time. Winning isn't always the way to get into heaven even thou it might be the way to a big paycheck. To bad not all parents are teaching their children this. My daughter is built differently than I am too. I am proportional. Doesn't matter if I was 42-38-42 or 34-22-34. Not perfect portions mind you lol. She is a bit taller than me but bigger built. She is going to carry weight like most of the woman in my family. In her hips and thighs and has a bigger waist than I did even after I had the kids. Lucky for me she isn't into skimpy or show it all. I am very careful what I say to her about her weight. jbar, Hong Kong I think the secret to keeping weight off might be how we decide to take the journey we are on. If we look at this journey as a diet. Well, when we reach our goal weight we haven't really learned anything. We go back to how we use to eat. Instead, if we look at this journey we are on to a more healthy thinner person as a different way of looking at, thinking about and eating food. By the time we get to that weight goal we have changed a great deal about how we deal with food. I really truly think, from all I have learned from people. We not only have to learn portion sizes, there is a reason for the required amounts of the four basic food groups ( I admit I don't always get them all in everyday ), never do without but if we have something we really want today we might have to wait until tomorrow to have something else we really want, we also learn this journey is never over. We have changed how we eat and it becomes everyday for us. We don't think much about it but that knowledge is there and we use it. jmf Welcome, hope to see you post often. Let us know how things are going. Evil Funny enough one of the old dears I bake for and I were talking about eggs. She told me she is 75, she couldn't careless about cholesterol and if I wanted to giver her the part of the egg I don't eat. She would scramble them up everyday lol. Guess I get to use egg whites too now lol. |
WOW so much has happened
I am back on I can't believe all that I have missed.
Welcome everyone, I am glad you are here and I am back. I went back to work last week and have tons of OT to put in for the new year so that is my excuse as to why I have been away. I weighed in and lost another 2.1 lbs, I have been so busy catching up on the what I missed I have not updated my weight tracker yet. I have losed a total of 18.6 lbs so far. I hit my 1st mini goal last week and got below 200 , what a great feeling, I am well on my way to my second goal 10%. I am eating one meal a day now and 4 shakes and 1 bar. I still find it easy and the nurse said today that everything was great. Now to catch up what I can remember, I love eggs all types but I do buy the bad kind so I have to find a farmer to sell them to me ( it is on my list of improtant things to do). I love banana bread w/ or w/o nuts, l love it warm with melted butter, Yummy. Last week we have 12 inches of snow and today it is 60 degrees and we have had a thunderstorm and torando watch. Climate Changing :o I think so. Okay I have been up since 5AM and have to get up at least by 5or 6 AM to get the OT in. UGGGG Love the money but hate the hours. It is good to be back on and I hope you all remember me. |

Glad to have you back. Nice going on the loss. You must feel very proud of yourself. Isn't the weather funny. We had snow all over the place and I had to shovel shovel shovel and today it was 60 degrees lol. |
Atta girl Begabo, the first pounds to lose are always the quickest, but this will give you motivation to continue..
SLash, no worries post when you can, miss you already! Sue, way to go on the loss while having a cupcake too, yum! You just have to get your priorities in regarding exercise, like nike says.......Just do it! You will feel better and soon you will want to workout daily. Shy EGGSCELENT idea giving your yolks to your elders! What a gift, EEK! Candle, doing great, keep on truckin your doing great. I am holding my own weightwise, here's wishing you all a healthy choices kind of day. ~Wendalyn |
Oh Diane, I miss you already. If I knew where you lived I'd send the "Geek Squad" lol
Sue, First welcome, it's great to have you here. On the first of the month I take all the school, scout, church, work, etc... calendars and combine all our activities onto one calendar. ( I use calendarsthatwork dot com) The calendar is free and you can type your activities onto the calendar before you print it. Once I have that printed I can clearly see days that are too full and days that I can squeeze exercise in. I then start with a new calendar and put down exercise goals for individual days and tape it to my TM. For added accountability I post my monthly goal on an exercise thread here at 3fc. That's how I do it anyway. Good luck, because I believe exercise is key to continued weightloss and maintenance. Theresa, Yeah you are in onederland. I'm so proud of you. Keep up the good work. Hope your job cuts you some slack soon. Hey Rennie, I felt like I accomplished alot yesterday, but my house doesn't show it already today. Maybe I'm going to have to fly you to WI so you can give my kids some private seminars lol I actually have no outside activities on my schedule for today so I should be able to get alot done and have time to enjoy myself. I could see on the weather that you and Theresa both were right in line to get our T storms and such yesterday. It just poured here but we never did get above 37*. No matter that's plenty warm for the first part of Jan. I'll surely take it. A friend and I were able to get in a long walk. It started sprinkling, but the sky never did open up on us. I put off making the banana bread, but it's so on my list of things to do today. Have a great ladies! |
Good Morning! Welcome to everyone who joined while I went AWOL. Congrats on pounds lost. I wish I could say the same. I am just holding steady. This of course would be do to me not exercising enough, but in all due time.
The end of the year and the first week of the New Year have been just crazy at work. I think I am at least treading water today, so I have a few minutes to sneak off and blog. :p I am struggling with SB diet. My husband and I both are finding it difficult to fit into our lifestyles as we both get up very early. I work for a company on the East coast and he goes in early as he usually puts in a 10-12 hour plus his school on Tues-Thursdays. I am not a big fan of eggs which the first two weeks of breakfasts is pretty much limited to unless you want to do a different protein. I can't seem to face them that early and they aren't that great for the hubby's stomach early. I am thinking of switching us back to WW. I lost weight before, slow and steady, but this time I really wanted a boost for an initial quick weight loss which most people get on Phase I of SB. Sigh...We have reduced portions and have cut out the sugar which is a good thing. I guess it will all fall into place when we decide to fully commit to one or the other. The girls are back in school and the routines are back to normal. I need to slide my walks with the dogs back in and get busy. It seems that just doing 2-4 miles a day really makes a difference for me with weight loss. It isn't even that much time. Mostly a mind over matter for me. Once I am walking I am so happy to be out there regardless of the weather. My Mom called last night and my Dad fell while he was out walking yesterday. They live in Wyoming. It is so icy and he was walking in old tennis shoes. He came home all banged up and making no sense. He doesn't remember the walk home. It is a wonder he made it. He also goes anywhere from 2-4 miles. She tried to get him into the ER but he wouldn't go. He is 6'4 250 and she is 5'4 120 so there really is no making him go. They retraced his steps and couldn't find his glasses at all. He has scrapes on the top of his head, the back of his neck, and he busted up his good knee. He has had knee replacement in the other already. He is only 73. It is so scary to me to think of my big old dad as fragile. Last night he was back to normal, eating good and icing his injuries. They are going to town today so if he is still messed up my Mom is just driving to their physicians and booting him out she said. Well, back to the grind. Hope all is well in blogger land for you all. Motivational thoughts to all. L- |

Here's to everyone having a great day...............:carrot::hug::hat: |
Hey all! Been MIA for awhile, things have been totally nuts. Haven't been to the gym in a month. Work is a bit like standing under Niagra Falls -- no time for lunch, working late, working weekends. That will change this month, I've been made a non-exempt manager. Which means if they have to pay me OT they won't have me do it! Which should be good for getting back to the gym. I hope so, I really miss and need it. Although I could honestly miss for the rest of this month and not miss the crowds one bit. Just feeling too pressed to want to deal with crowds and noise!
Back to the plan, here's to making progress again. I hope. |
Lolla, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad's accident. I'm no Dr, but it sounds like he suffered a concussion. I'm sending BIG hugs your way.
Begabo, 7 pounds down and you're sounding happy. WTG! Kappy, Glad you're getting recommitted...... ummm to a healthy lifestyle I mean lol Me, I walked 5 miles alone today. Weather is wet, but luckily I'd checked the radar screen and headed out soon enough. It started raining right as I walked in the house. Phew!! No children have activities tonight so it's a nice dinner at home and plenty of time to watch The Biggest Loser. Woo hoo!! |
Hellooooo, is anybody out there!
|
I posted yesterday but POOF it is gone.
Evil When I am that age. I don't think I will care what I eat either lol. lovn The one thing I had to learn was. I am not their friend. I am their mother. They will like me when they have kids of their own. I am the most hated mother on earth some days. Like the other day when they were going to the movies and out to eat with the gang. Their rooms weren't cleaned and they didn't get to go. Oh well, that is how it goes. Seminars are free lol, you pay for the plane ticket to send your kids lol. It was quite amazing this weekend. They had things they wanted to do. By 6 pm Friday night, their chores were done and passed inspection lol. loll It does take time for some people to find the right plan for them. But, no matter if it is plan like calorie counting that you kind of make up yourself or a plan like SB sticking to it is the hardest part. This is something we are doing for life, not just until we lose weight. You have to find something that not only works with your life style but works with your taste buds too. Sorry to hear about your dad. Yes, sounds like a concussion. Hope he has it checked out if he has more problems. Bega Glad you are doing well on the plan you have decided on. Kappy You really need to find time to live lol. Glad it looks like you aren't going to have to work all those hours. No job is worth going without eating and not getting to have a life lol. lovn Bet it was nice to have a break. Nothing planned for the kids. You have such a busy life is nice when you find time to relax. Yesterday was great. It was about 68 degrees out. I went out and cleaned the front and back yard. Will sure make it easier to get the yard ready for mowing in the springs since I will have half as many limbs and such to clean up. Was a nice exercise all that walking and bending and stretching. Felt good to be outside in the warm weather. |
Rennie, That souns awesome to be able to clean up your yard. We had T storms and temps in the 40's on Mon. Yesterday and today it's in the mid to upper 30's and I still have easily 7 inches of snow covering my entire yard!!! We still have snow plowed piles that are 7 ft high. This has been the darndest year for snow. We've had just enough melt that everything looks dirty and yucky. Which brings me to my odd story for yesterday. I had a salesman try to convince me to let them take an aereal shot of our home and land. Who would want that? A yard filled with dirty snow, no leaves on the trees, etc.... Crazy...I never even opened the door. Just said no thanks through it. Now if he had come even a week ago, it would have been tempting at least, with everything blanketed in fresh pretty snow. Even then those are so expensive.
Last night was terrific with everyone home and at the table together. Mmm steak, baked potatoes, and all my lovlies there together. It doesn't get any better than that. Today, I've gotten my housework done and have watched my food carefully, because I sure didn't last night. Butter AND sour cream on my spud. Yummy! I'll be walking on the TM today. I'm just enjoying being home and don't want to leave even for a nice walk! Sometimes there's just no denying you are blessed. Hoping you all are having a great day! |
Hi There
I'm brand new to this forum and have been reading this thread with a lot of interest. Currently I am 48 years young, weigh 148 lbs, am 5'2" and want to weigh 130 lbs. That's 18 to lose. I try to eat well (low fat, lots of veggies) but obviously I eat too well. I exercise a ton. During the summer I inline skate 6 days a week skating at least 10 miles per day on 5 of those days and at least 26 miles on the 6th. I also enter inline skate race marathons (4 or 5 per season at 26 miles) and have been doing so for the past 7 years. My physical fitness is really good, but my weight keeps creeping up and up and up. So this winter I started a different fitness routine rather than just doing treadmill work, consisting of: kickboxing class (which includes running, pushups, ab exercises) twice weekly for 1 hour each time, walking on the treadmill 2 times weekly for 45 minutes each time and twice weekly workout to kickboxing dvds or on my rowing machine (this is usually 45 - 60 min workouts). I also use free weights (5 lbs.) and do abdominal exercises once a week. I am at my wits end because I am not losing weight. In fact I have put on 3 lbs since inline season ended mid October. I know some of my extra weight is muscle because I wear the same size clothing (10) that I did when I weighed 130 lbs. but there is a lot of flab for sure. Does anyone out there have any advice for me?? My portions are probably too high but with the menopause thing I am constantly hungry. I eat 3 meals a day and 2 snacks --- I don't know what to do. I need help.:?: Thanks Chris |
Hello & Welcome Chris,
You sound like a bit of a fitness freak like myself. More power to you young lady! I also blade, kickbox, tread, rower and lift weights all at my home gym, plus exercise bike, tap dancing and snow shoe. Wow marathon blading how cool & fun. I am not that great at blading, especially on hills, so I'd skin myself good nodoubt. You sound extremely active and if your constantly hungry maybe you are not eating enough protein. Do you count calories? What does a typical food day look like for you? Do you eat any good fats like almonds or olive oil etc? Because you need good fats to burn the fat. You must be bulking up your muscles though albeit with a 3 pound gain, maybe just concentrate on toning, if the 5 pound weights are too easy and light for you to lift, maybe upgrade to 8 or 10 pounders maybe. Best of luck, you can and nodoubt will be successful in losing. |
Thursday-One day until Friday!!!
Good Morning Girlyheads in Blog Land,
Hope this finds you all doing well and following healthy habits. I offcially switched back to WW. I am a SB dropout. LOL. Rennie-I am soooo jealous you got to clean your yard. Everytime I even think about going out to do the yard it snows. We have a big dog, 3 acres, a beautiful lawn. Guess where he likes to go...I dread when the snow is gone. It is cold, cold here. Wind chill puts us at 6 degrees. Lovn thanks for the hugs! My Mom managed to drag poor old beat up Dad into the knee doctor and from there they made him go get a cat scan and checked out by his PCP. All came back negative so far. My Mom said he is still acting a little rummy so she is keeping an eye on him. They also went out and bought some new boots for him and tossed the old tennies. I don't know if he will venture out again though until a thaw occurs. Well, I guess better get busy. I have a kid to get to school and work to get back to. I hope you all have a wonderful day. It is almost Friday. :D L- |
