Happy New Years Eve! Laughed as I read back through the posts for today.
We are not doing anything tonight after all. We went to dinner at Mimi's. I had a small bit of salmon and scallops, not the whole plate and only a bite of the raviolis. It was excellent. We had adult conversation and enjoyed dinner. Then I suddenly did not feel well. Of course we have about a 40 mile drive back from civilization to home. I don't know if it was the rich food or what. Stomach upset major. I am now home in my husbands Tony Stewart sweatshirt and my red plaid scottie dog flannel pants. Yep, I'm clashing but cozy and I feel a little better. Lovn-I thought about trying to do portion control and my exercise to start, but I may need something a little more black and white than me relying on me. I used to be able to just exercise and the weight would come off. Apparently my metablolism has changed its mind about that method. I like the Rennie diet too though. I joined WW and quit a little before we moved out here in the country. I lost 12 pounds, but stopped eating right and have gained it back. I like the basic idea, but really I just need to modify my eating. Lately I have just been reacting to stress at work by eating. I telecommute and work at home so anytime I need a thought break or freak out moment I find myself upstairs getting hot tea and then of course something sweet. I need to just stick with the hot tea. My husband bought me a juicer for Christmas and we are going to try and incorporate more veggies and fruits back into our lifestyle. We used to eat them everyday but have seemed to have gotten out of the habit. I have to break my soda habit as well. I can drink diet, but it seems if I am drinking pop I will drink any pop, sugar or diet. We have stopped eating fast food almost 100%. It helps that the nearest fast food is over 30 miles too. LOL. Evil-hope your party was a blast. Well off to troll the internet a bit before turning in early. I will catch up with you all tomorrow. L:hug: |
Oh it was just as funny as I thought it would be. We all had a great time sweating to the oldies. I exercised they laughed and fooled around. My son of course talked about how all the guys in the video looked and did everything we were doing in a " manly " fashion. I laughed until I thought I was going to die. I finaly had to tell him STOP I can't exercise, laugh and breath at the same time. Such a great time.

I saw PS I Love You a week or so ago, and agree it is a tender love story, I laughed and cried. I recommend it. It is a chick flick so don't tell husband so he will go with.
Tonight DS and I went to see National Treasure, it was every bit as good as the 1st, lots of action it was a real clever storyline. I got home and shovel my driveway, we had about an inch of snow on the ground, and it is still snowing but I needed the excersice since I had a small bag of popcorn. I don't know about anyone else but it just isn't a movie without the popcorn. I will get a chance to shovel agian since we are expecting about 6" of snow overnight. I am glad I am home tonight and not out with the other kooks on the road. I hope everyone is with loved ones tonight as they ring in the New Year. The countdown has begun. I am thankful I have found this chat forum and concider you all my new friends you have no idea how much I needed you. Thank you and will talk to ya in '08 |
Well, it's 1:10am and I'm still up with my 3 youngest children. DH is sound asleep on the couch and has been for hours. A 17 hour work day will do that to a guy. We're about to watch Flushed Away. Just wanted tosay Happy New Year to you all. Talk again later today!!

Happy New Year
Happy New Year's Day to All.
Aaaaah a fresh new year. Where did the last one go? LOL. I did not make it to midnight last night. I was in bed by 10 and slept in this morning. It was nice. I had some work to log on and do, not so nice, but most of it is out of the way. I am finishing a little more tonight, but wanted to enjoy the day. My husband and I are going to try the South Beach Diet for initial weight loss we think and then once we are on maintenance for that experiment with the healthy foods in a combination that suits our lifestyle but maintains our weight. Enough on that. I decided no more diet talk, just diet do. I played tennis on the Wii as a warm up this morning and then boxed for about 1/2 hour. That is a workout! :carrot:My arms are like noodles. Sore noodles. I am going to walk the dog if the temperature breaks above 15 today to do some leg work. Well just a hi and off to Barnes and Noble to look at South Beach book and take some notes and then order the book from the library for next week. I had gained some weight, but this morning it disappeared so I dropped some again. I'll take what I can get and update the ticker. LOL. I hope you all are having an amazing day and enjoying life. Skinny thoughts, chocolate dreams. L- |
Happy 2008 everybody!
My partay was a big success, nice to catch up with everyone for 7 hrs of non stop chatter and laughs. We basically ate ourselves into a coma. I only drank one glass of wine and stuck to water, so I was pretty proud of that. Also thankful that I was not hungover so I could clean up the mess early this morning after they left (nope I couldn't leave it until waking up the next day, no sir ri) Also did an hr workout today and weightlifted for 1/2 an hr. I am glad there is not many leftovers at all to tempt me. Tomorrow its squeaky clean eating for this chickster,..... no ifs ands or butts! My resolution for this year is to love myself more, I am pretty darn hard on myself most of the time and that is going to be a thing of the past! I will try my damnest to love myself and when somebody gives me a compliment, I will believe them instead of being in denial of my hotness! |

Glad you had a wonderful time. Totaly understand not being able to wait until tomorrow to clean up. I could never do that. Would have to have everything done before I go to bed for the night. Lolla Everyone finds something different that works for them. Please let us know how SB is working for you. Glad you had fun on the wii, I had a great time when I played with the kids with it. lovn At that time hubby wasn't off work yet, my daughter and son were sound asleep. I was up until 6 am, couldn't sleep. Candle Can't wait to see the New National Treasure. Of course you have to have pop corn i guess. I don't like pop corn that much lol. |
Happy New Year Everybody!!!
Looks like we all came out of the holidays unscathed. I am celebrating my 1 year on plan today. Pretty proud....where did that year go!! Happy to be back on with all of you and see that everyone is safe. Let's make 08 our year!! |
Lolla, I've some understanding of SB and I think it's a very good choice for you. As I understand it focuses on healthy foods in correct proportion and who doesn't like seafood, salad, and fruit?!?!?!
Wendy, Glad your part was a hit! Theresa, I can't waite to see National Treasure. I too think popcorn is a must at the movies. I do order no butter. For me the yummy (horrible for you) oil they pop it in is enough flavor. I so look at treats the same way. Is this worth walking a couple extra miles for? Yes, ok then I'm having it! Are you having any tummy upset since eating food again? Sincerely hope you're doing great. Jan, Congratulations!!!!! Staying on plan for an entire year is a huge accomplishment. You know you are commited to a healthier lifestyle and not looking for a quick fix. Which wouldn't work anyway. WTG Rennie, Sounds like you and your son had a blast. It's an awesome feeling when our children let loose and have fun with us. I'm so dreading exercise today, but I have to get in 6 miles. Our temps dipped to below zero yesterday so I didn't do my planned 3 and didn't feel like using the TM so....here I am today at 4 below and 6 miles to do. If I wear a mask I know I can go out in these temps, but w/o it I'll surely end up sick in the lungs. I'll probably just turn the furnace down low and the music up high and hit the TM. Did anyone watch the new Biggest Loser last night? I think Jillian really hit on something last night. She said the couples will be hard to work with, because they've all brought one of their biggest enablers with them....it may make maintenance easier though!!! Have a great day all. |
Lovn-Thanks for the reminder, Dang....I missed Biggest Loser and was going to watch it. I will have to set up TIVO. I hope they have reruns on today.
So far on SB the egg white breakfast omellettes may be a no...yuck just couldn't face finishing them this morning. I have not snacked and I am not hungry though so the hot breakfast must work. I will be searching other alternatives for breakfast though. The hardest thing for me on the Phase 1 two weeks will be no sugar, fruit or bread. Of course I got a juicer for Christmas...LOL. We did have some juice the other day though and even though it looked gross, man was it good. Jonathan and Fuji apples and some strawberries. We also tried fresh pineapple juice. They were very sugary which surprised me as you don't realize it as much when you are just eating the fruit. Still I guess it is probably better for us than store bought. Also wanted to add, way to go you guys! I look at everyone's tickers and hope that I can be as successful losing my weight. Well up to my eyeballs in work to do. School starts back up for my youngest Friday and she has basketball practice this morning so I guess I better get stuff done while I can. Hope all is well with everybody. L |
Wow! I am so far behind that I think I am first!
I just read through the posts that have gone on without me. What a fun group you all are. Although, Candle and I will have to stick together. I am not a great housekeeper. I try, but living in the country is tough with dirt being tracked in, and a husband that has his own contracting business, tracking in more dirt... (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!). Anyway, the holidays were good, but I'm glad it is all over. I will be putting everything away this weekend and getting the house back to NORMAL!!! I'll catch up with you guys soon, but I have to get back to work. Oh swell! Here's to a great 2008!! |
Slash
The holidays are fun and it is nice when they are over lol. Starting to get everything put away here that is still out. Never did get the tree down so I am starting on that tonight. Lolla Can you use egg betters for your omelets? I use them and they taste good to me lol. lovn You all wonder why I do walking/aerobic videos lol. I am not going outside until the thaw hits in May lol. Janny That is so great, a year on plan. Congrats you sure should be proud of yourself. |
I'm a total failure at getting Christmas put away and the house back to normal. I didn't even try. I kind of relaxed and really enjoyed the kid's first day back to school. I read a couple new blogs, checked in on a Biggest Loser Thread, read a book....I did do laundry and dishes and managed to slog out 6 miles on the TM, but when you consider I got up at 6am that's not a whole lot of accomplishment. Tomorrow's another day. Today I guess was for ME!!
Lolla, Sorry about the egg thing. Personally I am unwilling to give up the yolk. I'd rather eat one less egg than give up my yolk, so I can't help ya. Good luck modifying!! Glad to see you back Diane. I hope all was just peachy on vaca Hi Rennie! |
I might be addicted
Wow,
Everyone sounds like they did really well for New Years. At least you maintained some sort of moderation. That's awesome! Pat yourselves on the back. I know I've said this before but I am still strugling with eating enough. I had a little over 1,000 calories today but I did the gym twice today. I do this most days. I almost feel guilty if I don't go twice. I do the stairmaster every morning and every night and then usually the treadmill or the bike. On M,W,F I do weight training in the mornings. So I am really burning more than I take in. My husband says my body thinks it's starving so it's holding on to the fat. I've been at the same weight for 2 weeks now. I don't know how to increase my calories with good food. I am not hungry. I use fitday to input everything so I keep track. I had 4 scoops of powder protein today instead of food just to get enough calories. Any thoughts or sugestions would be awesome. Thanks for being here. 182/140/130 |

Do NOT take powders INSTEAD of food. Take powders AND food. You get in the required amounts of the four basic food groups. You are going to see your calories, fats and carbs are up and you will be losing weight. My tummy always thought my throat had been slit lol. I found the more I eat ( within reason of course ) the better I do at looseing weight. There is a reason why there are required amounts for the four basic food groups you know lol. Lovn I don't give up whole eggs either. I still cook with them. I use a couple of servings of egg beaters a day to give me a meat. I don't eat enough meat lol. |
