I am having a hard time getting past that point! Keep on keeping on! Hugs

Good afternoon fellow chickadees

Well not long got home from my treatment and now quite tired so excuse my post if it is riddle with mistakes and grammatical errors. My oxygen therapy on Tuesday always does the same thing but feel heaps better the following days.

dgramie It shows how far you have travelled down your weight loss journey with being able to do far more work with not carrying 78lbs around. Just a pity that you have to ache so much and find all those muscles you never knew you had as you inevitably do with such hard work. So to some new NSV that you have discovered in the past 2 days.

The hot bath such help relax those aching muscles plus wash away the days grim. In the days when I could take a bath ( I have to shower as I am unable to bathe in a bath any longer so showers for me now) I loved putting in nice bath salts or a great smelling bubble bath. Aww it was bliss after a hard day nothing like it.

Realist Nice to hear about your NSV with fitting into a size 7 yeah for you and your hard work. Yes buying expensive items such as coats I was the same as you I made do for one winter. When I was going down in sizes I do not buy many as you are not in them very long especially the lower in weight you go.

You're like me in the kids department, I have no children just a couple of step son from my DH previous marriage. They are big grown up lads now at work and university. When I say grown up, grown up they are they tower me as they are well over 6ft.

Work sounds a busy place shame the regulatory agencies are not liking you as you are bright and clever. You find if you were a man you would get away with those tributes and no one bat an eye lid. Women who are bright are frown upon and treated at times like aliens from another planet. It baffles me why we can't be treated equally. Oops I must get of my soapbox about sex equality and be a good girl

Just seen that you have posted whilst I was reading over my post prior to posting. I see that you have a skin condition. I will tell you as much as I know in the department of skin from my nursing days. Which is very little as I was a psychiatric nurse.

Firstly is it dry your skin? Dry skin can cause itching. I never suffered from eczema until I hit approximately 40 and then wham. It drives you potty the incessant itching

Another thing comes to mind have you changed your wash powder, soap, shower gel, bubble bath, washing up liquid. Itching can be cause by an allergic reaction to one of the ingredient's in these produces.

I would suggest a visit to your doctors or to your pharmacy to take a look. If you are unable to get for a couple of days to the doctors. Speak to your pharmacy regarding an anti histamine and to see if they are ok to take with any other medication you are taking. This is most important that you check this out unless you have knowlegde yourself in that area of drug interaction. The anti histamine will calm down the itching and make it more bareable. ( I know from personal experiece).

I know this is the last thing you want to here in winter but taking cool or cold baths (or shower for that matter) will help with itching on your legs or body. Do not put anything in the water just incase it is an allergic reaction to a product.

Jacquie668 Great to hear that you are having a good week. On a positive note you maybe stuck at 285lbs but this is so much better than putting weight on. Try to think of week(s) like this as practice for maintenance which you will have to do when you get to your goal weight. So it is not a bad thing when you think of it in those terms.

DMPLS Glad to hear that you DH is on the mend after his fall. Even better news about your son being home for Thanksgiving day on Thursday. I am really please for you as I know I do not celebrate Thanksgiving day in my neck of the water I know family being together is moments to cherish. Nice that your son will have enough annual leave oops nursing term leave days in English to be able to stay till the end of December.

Time to get my act together and start making tracks at getting some food on the table. My tummy is really rumbling today in protest it is that hungry with being up so early.

Bye everyone and take care.

Hello Everyone.

Sorry for not posting...life on this end has been hard and busy. I've been keeping up with my exercise, however. That's a good thing. :-) I can see the fat in my legs making way for muscles and the shape of my legs changing a bit. It's probably imperceptible to everyone else, but seeing changes makes me excited.

I go for my follow-up mammo/ultra sound on Dec 5th. Trying to not think about it much, but it is there in the back of my mind all the time.

Have an EASY Thanksgiving coming up. A group of friends and I are hitting a local restaurant. Then, after we are all nice and full, we are moving to a friend's house to cook, watch movies and hang out. I know it is totally backwards, but it works for all of us. Some of us are vegetarians, others, like me, don't like turkey, and the rest won't have Thanksgiving without the bird. But the only two cooks in the group are me (I don't cook turkey either) and a vegetarian. So, we do the restaurant route, and we all eat what we want to eat. Then we cook just sides; this give us leftovers for Friday - mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, etc. - without the pressure of having the meal be perfect. It's was LOTS of fun last year and I'm looking forward to it again.

Alright, time for mid-day snack. Take care eveyone! :-)

Bernice-I’m glad your son is being responsible. So many Canadian soldiers who have died in Afghanistan have left behind fiancés. They were planning on using their combat pay for a big fancy wedding when they come home. For me, I’d much rather be the widow of a fallen soldier than just the girlfriend back home.

Carol-We still don’t have snow here. I’m fairly sure we will some time this winter, but not this week. It’s starting to get a bit freaky. I won’t be doing much on Thanksgiving. It’s another school day here. I may bake some cookies for the seminarians.

Annie-Be careful about inviting bachelors to holiday dinners. My husband started than, and now we have guys that show up before I even have my makeup on, and stay for 12 hours. One widower from church comes and only moves to go to the bathroom or get some more to eat. I like doing it, but each time they come a bit earlier, to stake out the best seats.

Purple-I have a book store like that a block away. I think my husband put a picture of me up behind the register that says, “do not sell to this woman.” Kind of like they do at casinos to keep the addicts out.

I think I got the rest of my Christmas shopping done today. Any excuse to avoid starting my last paper.

Good Evening all,

Heather: Sounds like you will have your hands full with school before Thanksgiving. I hope it all goes smoothly for you. Have a nice time with your Dad and his gf.

Debi: Don't work too hard sweetie.

Melissa: I thought it was you. I couldn't remember your screen name for sure. Welcome back hun. I'm so glad that you are back. I have thought about you and little Jasmine often. Hugs. Congrats on the -3 too.

Purple: Woo hoo on the size 14!!! I feel your joy. I can't wait to get into that size pants. lol. I am so much smaller on the top part of my body then the bottom. Our intentions were good for the Thanksgiving dinner with the single guys at DH work but they all have plans. So, it will be just the 2 of us which will be lovely.

Angie: Woo hoo on the -3.6 pounds. Maybe this weekend you will be able to squeeze in some "workout" time on the Wii? Hopefully you will be able to incorp. exercise back into your life soon. Hugs.

jacquie: Hang in there hun. I'm sure the scale will move soon.

Bernice: So glad that your DS gets to come home soon for a nice long visit. I'm also happy that your DH is feeling a bit better after his fall.

Julia: Congrats on being at 297 again! Way to go.

Mimi: Sounds like you have nice plans for Thanksgiving. They may be a bit different but, they do sound nice. I hope you have a fun time.

Catherine: All of the single guys have plans. lol. So, it will just be Joel and I. It should be a nice relaxing day and if the weather is nice enough maybe we can take our furbabies for a nice long after dinner walk. I hope you have a great day even if it is school.

Well, the surgeon that did my surgery was our leader in Group tonight. It was very informative and I enjoyed it very much. He was so complimentary with me and how far I have come. He also said he loved the pics that I did. lol. I told him I hated them and he said If I really feel that way I can re-shoot them. That made me thrilled to death. I would love to help him out but only if I have some control over the photos.

Well, It is about time for me to head off to bed now. I've been up since 2:30 a.m. and it is now 8:00 p.m. so it has been a long, long day.

Blessings all,
Annie

Annie - Thank you for the re-welcoming and the congrats. It means alot.

Hi Ladies. I had a good OP day today. Was just under 1800 calories. My guy and I have been measuring my portions out and using the food scale to make sure everything is exact, it helps me out a great deal.

I hope all of you are doing well and staying on track.

Good morning

I tend to weigh myself daily I know for others that is way to much and they become obsessed. So I say go with what you are happy with but it works for me great. Really pleased to say I have lost a further 2lbs which takes me to 175lbs but whether I will be that be weight day (Friday) is another matter but it will be. Even if it is not that by weight day I know I am hovering around at that point.

Another NSV I would like to share with you this morning. Over the past months my rings on my fingers have become increasing loose swinging round like nobodies busy. I put as a temporary measure ring snuggies (small plastic sleeve) that makes bigger ring fit the finger. well even with those now on I have gone as far as they can they don't work miracles I have now had to change the fingers that the rings go on. When my weight levels out then I will be off to the jeweller to see about having them altered to fit me. That day can not come soon enough for me.

Jacquie668 I fully sympathise with you from one eczema sufferer to another. Approximately 2 years ago my eczema went berserk and I was covered head to foot. I was scratching like a dog with fleas The incessant itching kept me awake at night. If I did get to sleep I was even scratching in my sleep. To my horror my skin was an absolute mess as I have long nails and they can inflict a lot of damage especially when you are asleep and unaware.

It eventually was brought under control with steroids, steroidal cream, moisturising cream and 2 lots of anti histamines. I still have eczema now but it is much more manageable. I hope yours has gone completely but if it hasn't it is more bearable.

NuevaVida Life sometimes is very busy and hurteling at 90mph like a high speed train. Great that your hard work on exercise is starting to pay dividends. It is nice when you can actually see something for your hard work rather than just relying on knowing that it is doing me good or is good for me.

Best wishes for the 5th of December and hope everything goes well in those tests that your having. Always a worrying time having tests like these.

Thanksgiving sound fun how you are celebrating it with friends. It is nice to hear our everyone is celebrating this occasion to an outsider.

CatherineM love the fact you love books and what your DH did regarding your addiction to them Mind you don't be giving my DH any ideas like that I simply adore books have done since a child. I can not pass a book counter without looking. They draw me like bees to an honey pot

dogpal Thanks for sharing the joy in my getting down to a size 14. Trust me it is only around the corner. The lower in weight you go the faster you whizz through the sizes. I am the opposite of you regarding tops and bottoms. My bottoms are 14/16 and my tops are 14/18 my girls get in the way

Nice that the surgeon came along to the weight loss group that you attend. Great to hear that he was really pleased with your progress it is nice to have it confirmed by somebody who knows how well you are doing from past experience. Good that you have the control back on the photographs it makes you feel in the driving seat so to speak rather than a passenger with very little say. Look forward to seeing the new photos when they are taken. Your new hair cut really has brought out your beautful eyes and you look wonderful in those photographs you have shared with us.

Vilandra485 Yeah for you for being on plan with your healty eating. It is much easier I think to do the weight loss journey if you have somebody to walk the journey with you so to speak. So your partner measuring out portions to assist you is great.

My partner is also losing weight along side me but he fortunately did not have so much to lose as me. He has lost something like 70 lbs+ not sure of the exact figures without looking in our weekly record book. He has done so wonderfully well as he has a devilish sweet tooth so I am so proud of his achievement so far.

Time to run as I am off to do the weekly shopping and not ready as per usual. Take care all

Good Morning Peeps

Annie - I'm so glad the surgeon spoke and also let you know you are in control of the pics. Did you mention the attitude?

I've peeled and chopped 10 pounds of apples this morning and the apple butter is in the crockpot. Can't wait to see how it turns out - I had lots of "aged" apples and the recipe seemed easy enough. I hope to be able to can a few pints of it for my parents as I used splenda in it so dad should be OK to have it.

My bloodwork all came back perfect except my LDL was 113. I snickered a bit when the nurse told me to watch what I eat and exercise. I said - OK I will. Need to move that down a bit toward the 100 mark. Today is my mammogram and then I'll be good for another 100,000 miles or 12 months. I shied away from these exams until last year and it feels good to care about myself instead of just others now.

Today is also quite a bit of the pre-cooking for tomorrow. I hope to get lots done so I can relax and enjoy my family tomorrow. We'll have 4 generations here and between the dogs, the little one and my mom all playing together it gets pretty wild.

Off to enjoy a cup of coffee before the next step.

Anyone doing the 3FC 5K tomorrow? I'm looking forward to doing it right after I put the turkey in the oven.

Move your bodies, drink your water and SMILE.

Hugs,
Carol

Good Wednesday before Thanksgiving Chickies,

Melissa: I think that is soooo sweet that your "guy" helps you measure out your food. I want to thank you for mentioning it. I was doing that faithfully and just stopped. Because you mentioned it here, I will do it again when I get home from work. I am going to start measuring out everything. It really helps me too. Wonderful way to help you stay on track.

Purpleorc: Woo hoo on the -2 more getting your to 175 pounds!!! I am thrilled for you. Being a daily weigher myself, I hope it you do gain some water weight you are not too disappointed. I am up 2 pounds this morning. I weigh daily and I'm sure as sure can be it is water because I tend to swell. I took my rings off last night and this morning I could barely fit my wedding ring back on so before getting on the scale I knew it would be up. I had to laugh about your "girls". Last night I was talking to this lady at group that is pretty much at her goal weight or she was then she gained 20 pounds so she wants to lose back to where she was, anyway, she and I wear the same bra size around the which is 40 and I have a DD and she wears a DDD and she called them her "girls". lol. I like it. I am so close to being where I used to be with my "girls". I was a 36C when I got married 23 years ago and that was about 26 pounds heavier than I had been for a long time. I did wear a 34C forever. lol. I doubt that my girls will shrink any because of extra skin. Okay, maybe that is too much information. lol.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today. For anyone that is traveling for Thanksgiving.... I pray that the angels will guard you and you will have traveling mercies.

Blessings all,
Annie

Carol: I do feel better about the photos. I emailed the guy and let him know that Dr. P said I could re-take them and when could we set it up. I didn't mention his attitude because I know that our normal leader already did. I am so glad that you will be having family around. That is one thing I miss terribly being up here in the North. lol. Have fun with them sweetie. I snickered too when I read what you said to the nurse. lol They think they know so much. lol.

Okie dokie, gotta go brush my pearly whites and head off for work now.

Blessings to you and don't over do it today.

Everyone: I hope the scale moves soon lol...but I'm changing my attitudes and feelings toward this journey. Becoming more positive and today I totally kicked some Yoga butt!

Purpleorc: I've always had Eczema, but never had any kind of major reaction until 2006. That landed me in the ER, head to toe as yours was. I have watery Eczema, so blisters and giant weeping wounds was my ordeal. I still have issues and currently am battling a weeping rash in a sensitive area. I know part of my issues stem from being obese, yet the other part stems from my apparent intolerance for most of the products out there lol.

Planning on going to see a dermatologist soon, but I want to try to cure my rash myself. As for scarring, yeah...my skin looks terrible south of the border. I have hyper pigmentation, spots, and such from all of this. I did notice that the large areas where my skin is "grey" is actually getting lighter as the weight comes off. Not so much for my spots, which were left over scarring from various flare ups. LOL I have like two black spots on each ankle...those aren't going away lol.

I just want semi normal skin and weight! lol...It will get better...all in good time.

Today i have to vacum and then do the kitchen and then off to work on finding the room that was left behind after moving daughter out. Its such a mess and she is coming home today i want to get things out of there so we can go thru what is left in there. I want to turn it into my sewing room . I have so much sewing to do before the wedding.
I am doing a little bit of baking today but not alot. IF the girls want more then they can do it!!! We are having a low key meal tommorow just hubby and both girls ..son and his wife and baby are with her family. Its time to really start on this wedding stuff we have kinda been putting off. Im hoping the sewing and flower making will keep me busy and my mind off food and help me my goal of being at 100lbs loss by the wedding...if not maybe i will at least be closer to it.
My goal is to have a loss this week and not eat anything sweet except with my lunch tommorow. I so want to post a loss during the holidays!!
Hugs to all..

Juliahood: congrats on being back down to 297! What a great feeling.

Mimi: going to a restaurant is what a lot of people do! Let them cook! Lol

Heather: Just give the students A’s. Make it easy on ya..lol

Dgramie: 90 gallons of clutter? LOL I totally understand. I am currently going through stuff. And wondering where did all this stuff come from??

As for me : had today off from work. I have everything ready for tomorrow except Mr turkey. I unpacked a box today that has some of my grandmas dishes and salt and peper collection in. Makes me sad cause I miss her soo much. Holidays are not the same anymore. BUT I know that I have to make my own traditions to carry on with my kids.

Hope everyone has a happy Turkey day!

Default Thankful

Evening all,

I am in the thankful feeling. I love my husband...I am thankful for him. I am mostly healthy (other than I have developed a cold today)... I am thankful for that. I have a cat that feels like a child to me...I am thankful for her. I have a job that pays decent money...I am thankful for that. I have a nice home...I am thankful for that. I have been losing weight relatively consistently lately...I am thankful for that. There are many things I am thankful for.

I know I don't post as often as I should, but I read semi-regularly. Today I would like to give my thanks for all of you. If I forget one of you, I am so sorry. I am going to try to get you all in here. Please note, you are not listed in any specific order, no one feel slighted.

Annie - You are a true inspiration to me. Everyday...you do what you do. You eat right. You work out. You are humble. You are bright. You are funny. You care. You care. You care. You care.

Debi - You shoot me a PM to shake me out of a funk. Thanks for that. You are resilient. You are watching your kids grow, and appreciating them for what they are. You appreciate everyone for what they are.

Carol - You are a cynic like I am. You are a kindred spirit of sorts. And you work your BUTT off every week to earn your weight loss. You don't look your weight (which I feel is something only someone on a fat website can say...hehe). You adore your husband, and you care for you family.

Ratkitty - Girl, I miss you. I want you to not struggle, although I know that someone can't just say that and make things all better. It's not a command, it's a wish. We learn things from rough patches. So...the good news is...you are learning a TON. And you are brilliant, and funny, and sarcastic, and you adore your furbabies.

Cyn - You know exactly what you need to do. And you do it. You know what you need for you, and you are trying to prioritize yourself to achieve it.

Purpleorc - You are relatively new here, but you feel right at home to me. You have done a phenomenal job losing weight. You have a good perspective on life. You do not wallow in pity of having MS (which I am sorry you have to suffer with). You work with the hand you were dealt. You provide great comments on the board, and I am happy to see you here. Oh, and I love purple, so the font is fabulous.

NuevaVida - You have taken your like by the horns. You are an exercising machine. I am going to try to get that mojo going for myself this coming month. I think for exercise, I need to starting thinking "what would NuevaVida do?"

Heather - You are a constant reminder that even when (notice I didn't say if) I lose the weight, I will have to stay diligent, because maintaining is just as hard as losing.

Catherine - You have a sharp, scarcastic wit to you.

Newbies....stick with these ladies, and you will learn tons. Anyone I may have overlooked, please take no offense. I am sure one of the few words describes you. Smart, funny, diligent. Hehe.

Take care all and have a GREAT thanksgiving.

Angie
