Last night I went to a vegan Vietnamese restaurant. *I* suggested it. A year ago I would not have suggested this type of restaurant. No way. Not this unabashed and unwavering carnivore. But, I was looking for a reasonbly-priced place with a lot of healthy options, and expanded my thinking.
Yesterday was tough--my hunger level was high, and there were only 300 calories left in my budget to eat by dinner time.
I ordered spinach, mushroom, and tofu soup. It was *out of this world.* I am sure it wasn't over 300 calories. Unbelievable. There were many items on the menu that looked appealing. The prices were extremely reasonable.
Yay! A new restaurant to put on my list. My friend also loved it and raved about her food.
Afterward, we went to a tea cafe, and instead of the honeydew bubble tea loaded with sugar and big tapioca beads that I adore, I ordered an herbal pear spice tea that was delicious and 0 calories.

Bernice: I don't blame you for wanting to stay put. I hope your DH finds a job locally, and you can stay where you are.
Congrats on the beautiful necklace and thoughtful DH.
Catherine: A bigg yippee! to you on regaining pain-free mobility and the all-clear to go swimming again. It is wonderful that you are feeling better. Exercise won't hurt your feeling of well-being, I am sure.
Rat: Feel better soon. There will be more nice days coming up that you will be able to enjoy.
Johnnie: Hurray! Hurrah! You hit the big milestone.
Debimitch: Aren't the big loss weeks great? I almost prefer to have a big loss every now and then, and smaller ones in between. But, I'll take lower weights no matter how they're delivered.
Julia: I like WATP. I have the 2 mile walk.
Cyn: The YMCA sounds like a fantastic idea. I hope you enjoy going there.
Sandybar: Mowing becomes you! : )
Anne: You are smart to recognize patterns and try to head them off before going too far down the wrong path. It seems like I am always falling into one hole or another that I have to dig out of. All we can do is recognize our weak spots and work around them...for a while or forever.
Heather: Croatia is supposed to be absolutely beautiful. i would love to go there some day.
Annie: You did the right thing by leaving the call center. I hate the attitude of some employers. If their word means nothing now, you can only guess how many more agreements they will disregard in the future. You will find the right job.
Walrus: Hugs. I hope you can reach the ever-important milestone of being under 300 by vacation. But even if you don't, you'll feel better having put out effort to eat well and take good care of yourself leading up to the trip.
Realist: You hang in there. I don't know why the switch finally went off in me when it did, but even though I struggle on and off, I am committed to better health. You can do it too, I know you can.
Sharon: Yay on your loss! Let's make today another good day.
Angie - thank you for sharing your beautiful thoughts. i know sometimes i get frustrated by weight because other than being fat, im really healthy. i go to the gym with my friend whos a runner and a swimmer, and it gets frustrating, but i just cant imagine how bad i would feel later if i missed out on anything because of something i feel is so silly. i hope that one day you have the courage to tell your husband that you really would like to have a big wedding. maybe for an anivarsary or something. you've already lost 20 lbs. thats a major accomplishment. if you dont believe it, go to the store and weigh out 20 lbs of apples, then carry them around the store. you'll see what i mean.
everyone else, thanks so much for your words of encouragement. as much as i will miss her, its her that will have to live with not being there.
Well, I have stuck to 2000 calories or less since this past Wednesday, and feel pretty good about it. DH and I expended some energy this morning by going and picking up, moving across the yard (not huge, 1/3 acre), and spreading 3 cubic yards of mulch. We have another probably 4.5 cubic yards to move tomorrow....at least. But, the yard is taking shape. My sinuses are acting up, and I am exhausted. This is a time I would normally go find something chocolatey to eat, but I am not. I am going to stay within my 2000 calories darn it!!
Something scary, DH helps coach soccer. Well, we got a call from the other coach that the game was cancelled, because someone was in the neighborhood of the soccer game WITH A GUN!! There are thousands of little kids running around there, so frighteing. Haven't heard if they caught the guy or not, but I sure hope so.
Thanks for the support ladies. I feel hitting the 340s in my blood. Not sure it will happen next week, but it would sure make me happen.
Hiya Peeps - I'm in my I can't get anything accomplished funk - BUT - I did post pics - first of all of Gypsy and her hair cut yesterday. Then of me - I can really see a difference - I think it's probably time for some new pants too.
Today I did go swim but could really tell I missed Thursday night - so I came home and did 45 minutes on the treadmill - after working outside for a couple of hours. It is so nice to have more stamina and strength than before.
Walrus, so sorry about the leg not being where you want it to be! I had surgery on my foot a year ago April. The doc said even though I'd be out of a cast in 8 weeks and the incision would be healed, to prepare for a year of healing. He was right!
Battle, wow, good deal about the new restaurant! I'm not a fan of tofu. Glad it was good for you! Despite being ill, I am still managing to be hungry (Dagnabit!).
HeatherProf, wow, those are some cool summer plans!
Luan, I'm so sorry about your friend and your graduation. Hang in there, this is your day! Just think, you have some 3FC chickies here cheering you on during this time too
Realist, it's so good to see you again. Yay for staying on your plan! OMGosh about the soccer game and person with a gun. People are so out of control these days. I say we line em all up and .. ooops! hehe.. just kidding.
GGG yay for swimming! You are doing GREAT! You'll be proud of me, I ate a salad while feeding my cold (feed a cold, starve a fever? bah.. I was hungry). hehe.
Ratkitty, I AM proud of you! Eating something like salad when you're craving something like Chinese (? I often do when I'm sick ) is a big thing! Well done
But seriously, a year for my leg!? Say it ain't so! I'll go cuckoo! I guess only 9 months to go, though, right?
Sweet potato fries for lunch but a salad for dinner...that's balanced, right?
We're going out for dim sum tomorrow morning -- it'll be delicious, and as my absolutely favorite thing is the radish cakes -- not fried! -- I'm thinking I'll come away full for a small amount of money and few(ish) calories -- and maybe a walk! I find dim sum much easier than regular Chinese dining, as you can have ONE of a plate of something, and you can also find fewer fried items...I'd do a dancing carrot here, but I hate carrots...ugh. I'll imagine a dancing slice of bacon instead
Ratikiten: a park n swap is basically a flea maerket or a swap meet. That is what they call them here anyhow. We ended up not going because we stayed up late and by the time we got up it was HOT already.
Well I think my friend bailed on me for the YMCA. I AM MAD!!!She has been harping on me about joining for a long time. So we decided Sunday was best. Well she tells me today she has been pulling weeds for an hour today and is sore...HELLO!! She is smaller then me. Maybe I should not be mad but I am.
Sooo I say to heck with her..to heck with people lol I am going anyhow. And if I only walk 10 min on the tread mill so be it! My kids are joining so I am sure we will be swimming. makes me mad when people do that!
Battle: Congrats on your -1. Any loss is good. Glad you found a new restaurant.
Bernice: Your DH sounds like such a sweetie pie. Your new necklace is beautiful. I hope your DH can find a position where you live.
Catherine: Yipee for getting to go to the pool on Tuesday!
Cyn: Sorry about the YMCA. Maybe you can still go and enjoy yourself!
Sandy: Great job mowing the lawn again. I know exactly what you are talking about. Good luck on your next weigh in.
Debimitch: Woo hoo on another -4.5 pounds. You are doing amazing.
Debbie: Your walking challenge sounds fun. Be careful with your dogs. Coyotes will kill them even big ones. Hugs.
Anne: Hugs to you hun. Hope you have a better day tomorrow.
Rat: Feel better very soon.
Walrus: Hope your leg starts to feel better soon. I still say maybe water therapy will help.
Heather: Wow, what a trip you are planning.
Angie: COme on 340's!
Carol: I loved the pics that you posted. You are so pretty and have such a beautiful smile. Hugs.
Well I had a great day. I got a new purse on sale at Kohl's. Very Spring Like. I tried on a blouse while I was there from the Misses section. Size XL and it fit. I didn't like it that much after trying it on but it fit! I'm sure there stuff is marked different from other stores. I came home and DH and I went to visit some friends and went out to lunch. It was nice to see them. Then DH hung up my hammock and we cuddled for about and hour on it before the wind came up and it got kind of chilly. I will try to post some pics that DH took of me on the hammock. I just adore my hammock and have missed it so much.
Well, time to go for now. Hope you are all doing well.
Walrus, tis true.. bone healing ain't for sissies!! Well, neither is ligaments and stuff.. ask Catherine. I'm wanting miso soup right now (now that you mentioned Chinese). There's only 1 place locally that makes it decently. BTW, I hate carrots too!
Ahhh Cyn, I figured the park and swap was like a flea market or yardsale. Don't worry about your friend and the Y. You'll have your kids to go to the pool over the summer, that'll be great!
Ebola-girl still is getting major hungries even though she can't taste a thing. What's with that? My mom called to check on me and she said "you should lose weight during this" and I said "pffft, how?" She means well, but says goofy things like that all the time. Even when she knows it's just water weight and it comes back (she just got over the flu and knows better than to say that).
Anne, if I do get hired at my husband's job, they might want me to cook and then I would be in control. I always make a good healthy lunch for Jim to take to work and the other guys sit there and tell him that I can make extra for them. They also get all kinds of goodies that I bake at Christmas and once in a while during the year.
Bernice, that's so cute the way your hubby gave you the necklace. It sure is a pretty one!!
Ratkity, feelin' any better today?
Walrus, sorry you won't make your airplane goal but the 9 lbs is something to shoot for. I hope ya make it. Hopefully by the time of your trip your leg will be healed up alot more.
Debi, sounds like you are handling eating out really well. Something I still have to accomplish. Keep up the good choices!
Heather, sounds like you have a very exciting summer planned. Enjoy it,you deserve it.
Angie, YAY for not reaching for the chocolate!!! That's alot of mulch you're spreading around but chalk it up to exercise!! That's hard work!!! Did they catch the guy with the gun? I hope everyone stayed safe.
Carol, I love the pics of Gypsy!! She's so cute. Yes, you can definitely see a difference in you pics too. Feels great, doesn't it?
Cyn, I think you'll have more fun with the kids at the YMCA. The point is, is that your STILL going even if your friend flaked out on you. YAY!!!
Annie, yes, I'll keep an eye on my furbabies. Anymore, I'm always looking outside to see if it's safe, especially for Sadie. She loves to get into trouble. Yay on the XL shirts. You would of had to fit if I can and we're about the same size, you being a bit smaller. Pretty soon you'll be in the plain ol larges. Wow!!!
We've got all our little seedlings outside today to get them used to being out there. A couple hours at a time. They look pretty healthy and hopefully by next week, we can have them in the ground. Can't wait!!! Just have to keep the bunnies and birds away some how.
Still OP, just lost 1 lb this week, but at least it's not staying the same or gaining.
Have a great Sunday!
Debbie
Ebola-girl here. I'm feeling better, but now the crud is in my chest. oh yay (not). I got out and mowed the lawn this morning, so my golden retrievers don't get lost in the weeds. I'm relaxing now and doing laundry.
Carol, Gypsy looks soooooo much happier with her cut! You look great in your picts! I concur with Battle, Time to get better fitting clothes. I'm the worst at wearing clothes that are too big.
Deb54, that'd be great about the cooking if you got on at DH's work! Gotta watch out for those hungry bunnies with your seedlings. I have to watch out for 84 lb golden retrievers. Anything I touch is fair game for eating (or at least a taste). Buffy has slayed 7 blueberry bushes since 2005 and countless strawberrys and tomatos. Silly brat.
I went for an extra long walk today, and chose some good-sized hills to go up and down. I'm trying to shake it up to get back to ticker weight and below. My body is so determined to hold on to weight for as long as possible, and wants me to prove over and over that I really mean it.
The last few days I have been battling hunger. It has been harder than usual to stay on plan because of real hunger. I'm managing, but my policy is to eat if the stomach is grumbling, even if it means going over calories for the day. I'm only coming in a tiny bit over plan, and it should not be enough to derail me. I know I can't go any higher because I will not lose any weight. I'm trying very hard to make the best food choices to keep me full. Today is going better, a little easier.
---------
Angie: Good for you! Staying on plan for days, and doing some hard physical work. Keep it up.
Ratkitten: It is so NOT FAIR that you are hungry while sick. I hope you feel better soon, and have some easier days ahead.
Debbie: Good job on the 1 lb. lost. One more and you'll be in a new decade.
Cyn: I hate when people flake. Good for you, not letting her keep you away from the YWCA.
Annie: How cool is that! A misses XL. Isn't it a thrill to shop in a department store?
Hi everyone. Taking a quick study break. I really goofed off yesterday and didn't crack a single book. Instead I spent the day shopping, watching movies, and reading. I needed that downtime! I feel like I am paying for it today though. I am still happy to be seeing the (temporary) end in sight. The weather has been just gorgeous here and I have gotten to have some nice walks and spend time in my back yard resting, relaxing, and reading. I look forward to even more of that after Tuesday!
Anyway, looking for some advice on buying a high school graduation gift. I got an invite to my cousin's daughter's graduation party which is in a couple of weeks. I won't be able to attend since it is in Iowa and they did not give me enough notice to plan a trip....just enough notice to send a check though. Anyway, she is only the 2nd person in our family (me being the other) to go to college so I do want to do something for her that is a little more meaningful that cold hard cash. I will send a check too since all college kids like money, but any ideas on something else to send along with it?
