Hi Peeps - I am amazed at myself (pats self on back). I did not set an exercise goal for January but have handled 830 minutes - I know it's not much but it is at least double what I have done in the past - YAY me! Not to mention my overall feeling of well being. Tonight I had a long talk with my trainer about this plateau and he made a few suggestions. He himself is coming off a 9 month plateau so we're both in the same boat. He did encourage more calories like the rest of you. I will admit I am struggling to do that but a little at a time.
Regarding the snacking issue a couple of you have mentioned - I do have a snack in the afternoon at work - normally an apple, sometimes string cheese. At home though snacking gets me in big trouble - even healthy snacking so I have eliminated snacking at home. If anything I will have an extra small meal - but it is on a plate just like any other meal. Snacks are dangerous territory for me and at this point I just don't feel able to do a replacement until I have addressed the behavior. Hope this makes some sense.
It's great to see everyone posting - there is much strength here which I pull from. Missing some peeps - hope all is well with you!
I JUST walked in the door 20 mins ago. I've been gone since 5:30am this morning, and it's now 11:30pm! Yikes. I managed to read the posts, but now I have to hit the hay, or I won't be able to get up for work in the morning! I'll try to do some personals in the morning!!! Have a great night everyone!
Good morning Peeps - happy Friday to all! Big Super Bowl weekend is here. Seems I've seen a lot of Pats fans here - good luck to all - I hope it's a good game (with all the great commercials too, of course).
Gotta get busy as yesterday I just didn't accomplish much and the day is here now for the guests to arrive for tomorrow's party.
Everyone have a great day! Lurkers please post and let us know you are OK.
Carol: WTG on the exercising! You are an inspiration. I eat an apple at work for an afternoon snack..mainly cause I am still craving something sweet. But I tell you the last few apples were not so good. LOL
Kayley: sounds like this new job is keeping you very busy!!! Remember to take some time for you.
Babybear: glad your computer problem got fixed! I would crumble without mine lol
Donna: treadmill huh? Cool!! I had one many many years ago but I bought it at a garage sale..and I personally think the speed was way off. Let us know how it goes.
Julee: WTG on the WI!!!
As for me, I am still sick. Just mainly coughing now, which can be a pain since I do phone work all day. I use the mute button a lot! We have decided not to go to any Superbowl parties…lol mainly cause I live like 20 blocks from the stadium and I know there will be traffic galore and drunks everywhere..lol. So we are staying home to watch. I think we are BBQ hamburgers and I am sure I will make some potato salad. Have not had that in a long time. Funny, you would think living that close to the stadium I would have seen some celebrities by now!!! But nope! Lol. Hubby and I do a once a month date night at AppleBee’s and we do it on the last Thursday of the month..well with the superbowl here there is no getting in anywhere lol. Makes life a little hard on us that live here all the time lol. But its good for Arizona I think to have the revenue coming from it. Crossing my fingers that it don’t rain. HAHAHA go figure hardly rains here at all and on Sunday chance of showers.
Well all thanks for listening to me babble…take care!
I hope everyone is starting off the morning right. We awoke to most the schools closed or 2 hour delay well everyone except ours. The kids were mad mad mad. However, there is nothing outside I am not sure why they all closed. Anyway, I am down 1 pound woot.. I am happy with it, I had a bad eating week. I also awoke to a problem I need to face, and I need you guys advise. My daughter 12 going on 20 has a bigger weight issue than I do. IT has been coming a long time now. I just havent wanted to face it. Since I started WW again everyone has been eating pretty good. Since I do most the cooking. My son lost a half a pound this week and my DH I know has lost several over the last month. Then we come to my daughter. She weighed in this morning at 265!!!! She has to be sneak eating?? That is a 10 pound gain for her in 1 week!! Well of course this started into a big deal, I just dont know which way to turn with her. I am banning all sodas and bad snacks. Any advise you guys have will be much appreciated. I am now battling to weight loss issues.
We actually have a "snow day" today. I've worked at this college 8 years and I think this is my first ever snow day! The kid in me is excited, but it actually screws up a bunch of stuff for me... Oh well! I'll try to get to the office later today and get some stuff done, but it's been nice not to have to dig out at 6 something this morning!
Babybear, try not to be too hard on your daughter, I remember my mum trying to FORCE me to eat healthy, I of course bought stuff from the shop. She might rebel against it all, try not to tell her off, talk (I KNOW it's hard to do at times) about her health & the lovely clothes she can wear in the Summer. Maybe the promise of new clothes, swimsuit/whatever might help her focus, how about a scrapbook/diary with pics of clothes she wants & exercise food at the back? Just a few tips, I'm sure others can offer better ones.xxxxxxx
I GAINED 3LBS this week, I knew I wouldn't lose much as I've not been totally OP, but I am fed up with this! I hope it's TOM causing it, rather than another failed week, sigh.....
hugs, hope you are all well or getting there.xxxxxx
xxxxxxxxsharon
I am at work and I have a minute before I need to book on into work.
Julee: Congrats on -2.2. That is wonderful also that you are able to bypass a favorite food like French fries with only taking what you have points for. I'm proud of you.
Debbie: I hope your weigh in goes well!
Catherine: Thanks for the concern. I am so hating my job. I am trying to hold on to Feb. 14th when we find out if we got the RFP or not for the state of Idaho. If not then I will get some unemployment while I find another job. If so, I have to pray about that and possibly still find another job. I think more than anything that is what is keeping me sick. The stress. Hugs to you and hope you have fun at your party.
Battle: Hope you have a safe flight. I hope all the seats are so roomy you feel like you are at home in the recliner.
Ammi: I will get you an email hopefully tonight. I changed my ticker again today. They will do the fat suit next Tuesday.
Carol: sorry you are at a plateau. I hope things start to move along soon. Hugs.
Cyn: Get better soon!
Kayley: Hope your days are less long soon.
Tina: Woo hoo on the -1. Hugs to you on your daughter. Is she at all interested in having an account here? It may help her to see other people struggle and also motivate her to do something about her health? Just a thought.
Heather: Have fun on your snow day. I wish my office would close for snow days. Dept. of Health and Welfare across the street were closed yesterday and we still had to be here. Ugh. We are in a state of emergency in Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington.
I weighed today. I guess I should just change my weigh in days to Friday now. I lost 2 more pounds. I sure notice a difference when I don't exercise.
Yuck, we have snow this morning (and it's still coming down). The only good thing is that Costco was almost empty at 10am. I mean, when we got to the checkout, the one guy at the checkout helped put the stuff on the belt as there was nobody else there. I don't think I've even been in there when something like that has happened.
Cyn - probably staying in and taking care of yourself is a good idea. I always find that winter colds hang on forever, especially if you don't take care of yourself.
Babybear - I'm not sure that there is an answer. I was an overweight child and when my parents tried to control food, I just found it elsewhere. Although removing the junk might help, there are probably lots of good things that she can overeat in the house. I used my allowance to buy food as well, and once I had my own income (babysitting, part time jobs) it didn't matter what was in the house. I think if my parents had known the right answer I wouldn't be here now.
Sharon - hope it's water weight as well. I do tend to stall/gain as much as a week beforehand, then after it all comes off in two or three days. It really messes you up as you can have 2 bad weeks out of four depending on when it actually arrives.
Annie - congrats on the loss. I always notice that I'm less enthusiastic the next day when I haven't exercised as much the day before. The winter and the snowy weather always seem to make me less motivated, odd since I always exercise indoors.
Catherine, it sounds like you will have quite a crowd there. Just take care of yourself and make sure you get the best seat in the house!! Have fun.
Battle, isn't it strange how TOM always shows up when you plan on going on a trip or vacation? Sheesh! So irritating. You had all the reason in the world to be a raving biooootch when it shows up. Hope things calm down for you.
Cyn, hope you get rid of that cough soon so you can yell for your team during the superbowl!
Tina, when I was overweight as a kid, my parents took me to doctors to see if it was my thyroid or something else. Of course, it never was, I was just eating too much junk. I didn't want to lose weight because it just didn't matter to me. Although they tried different ways to help me lose weight, it just never worked because I would find a way to eat fattening things and too much of them. I guess what I'm trying to say, is if she isn't ready to lose weight, you can't force her. All I can suggest is to sit with her and ask her why she eats so much and if she would "work" towards special rewards if she tried to lose some weight. Small goals maybe. Don't hit her with how much she needs to lose because that would scare any of us away. HTH
Sharon, sorry to hear about the weight gain but hopefully you'll have better results next week.
Annie, so sorry to hear you don't like your job. Nothing worse than being stuck somewhere you don't want to be. Hopefully the RFP (what is that?) will come to your state. Hang in there and try to get well.
I weighed in and didn't lose a thing. O well, it's better than a gain I guess. We got a light dusting of snow last night. That was a surprise since they said it would just be rain. Today we go into town for our shopping day and then take Marilyn to have her recheck on her ears. Hopefully they are all cleared up now.
See y'all later.
Debbie
Annie-when I got hurt, I found that I was unable to do the state grant proposal that had kept our organization funded for many years. I couldn’t seem to get the numbers to make sense, and I was incapable of the organization of the file period. I was trying to pretend that nothing was wrong. When we lost the funding 8 people lost their jobs including a couple of single moms. I felt so bad about it. The funny thing is that everyone landed on their feet with better jobs except for me. I want you to trust in providence and allow the spirit to take you down the path you are destined for. Relax and just look at what is right in front of you. Put on horse blinders to everything else.
Carol-the first step to changing a bad habit is identifying it as a problem. I also can’t have snacks (or any bad food) at home. I make good choices when caught out somewhere, but not at home. I suspect it is the idea that people are looking at me when I am out.
Cyn-I remember when Tampa had the Superbowl how crazy everything got, and I didn’t live that close to the stadium. I did live close to the fancy historic hotel in St. Pete where a bunch of the celebrities stayed. I didn’t see anything except photographers on motorcycles chasing limos. I got to see Brad Pitt and George Clooney when they were in town filming the opening sequence of Ocean’s 11. They showed up to take batting practice with the Yankees before a spring training game I had tickets for. That was definitely worth the $10.
Tina-I was a sneak eater, and she probably is too. If my mom had done a pantry purge, that would have helped me, but I still left the house everyday. I was 285 when I took my college physical as a high school senior. It’s not just the weight, there are so many hormonal issues in her body right now that are being negatively impacted. These can have lifelong consequences. If you can afford it, find a program for her age. The kind that has a psychological component and peer support.
Heather-we never got snow days. Even if only two kids showed up, they wouldn’t call off classes because we didn’t want to have to pay the teachers to make up the snow day. Everyone understood that we didn’t have to come, but the kids close enough to walk plus the kids of people who had to go to work and needed babysitters basically, would go for a few hours just to satisfy the state regulators. The teachers were supposed to come, but since half were nuns who lived in a convent on the grounds, that also wasn’t an issue. The non-nuns basically called in sick.
Sharon-I know that frustration of feeling like you’re just grinding the gears. I’ve had 10 fail weeks to every successful one.
Anne-an empty Coscto has got to be a fatchick’s wildest dream.
I must have slept crooked because my back is out on the left side which is weird. Most of the damage to my back was on the right side. I hope it is just temporary because I can’t afford to be down right now. I’m supposed to be in an all day conference tomorrow. I got elected president of our CWL. That’s the second time in my life that I have been elected president of a ladies group when I didn’t show up to a meeting. I have actually never been to a CWL meeting here yet. I just joined at Christmas. The old president came to our party and signed me up, but I hadn’t been up to going to a meeting yet. I told her the story about getting elected when I missed a meeting, so when she called from the meeting a couple of weeks ago to ask if I would be president, I honestly thought they were joking. That is until they announced it at church the next Sunday. My jaw hit the floor. I don’t drive or use the phone, so how they thought I could do the job, I’m clueless. I guess if they want me, they will learn to like chauffeuring me around, especially when the temp is -28 outside.
Cyn – Oh, I’ll try! Lol. I was only gone so long yesterday, because I was helping my friend out all evening, and then I stayed and visited until way past my bedtime! Lol. I hope you get to feeling better, and have fun on Sunday!!!
Heather – Hope you enjoyed a little bit of your morning, before heading to work!
Annie – Woo! You’re almost to the 280s!! That’s so AWESOME! You are on FIRE!
Just stopping through quickly. I got up, and schools were closed again today, so a 3 day weekend for me! Woo! It’s pretty nasty here. I went back to sleep, and got back up around 11am, and headed outside with Mom & we shoveled about 7 inches of snow out of our driveway. Good solid hour of exercise, that’s for sure! Heh. We’re supposed to get 10-14 more inches tonight, and we still have to go out and finish up the driveway. We were going to do Walk away the pounds today, but shoveling is even better exercise than that, so we’re good for the day! lol
Hi y'all. It was suggested that I post in the 300+ forum in another thread.
You can see all my numbers by my trackers. My first goal is to get down under 300 lbs for the first time in forever. Reasonably how long should that goal take?
I plan to get at least 350 minutes of exercise in to start as well as the prescribed water. I don't follow a particular plan, just count carb choices for my type 2 diabetes.
