Oooh... I do have some jello. I usually make it into cubes. My problem is that I have no idea how to count the calories/servings when I do it that way

OK Peeps - here’s the journal of what I’ve been eating the last several days:

Today:

Oatmeal 160
Banana (med) 105
Kashi pumpkin bar 180
Healthy choice split pea soup (whole can, 2 servings) 280
2 slices lite whole wheat bread 90
2 t light miracle whip 13
3 ounces roasted chicken, no skin 150
Apple - large 120
Lite string cheese 70
Still to come:
4 oz turkey smoked sausage 140
2 c. steamed cabbage with crushed red peppers 70
TOTAL 1358

Monday:

Oatmeal 160
Banana 105
3 ounces roasted chicken, no skin 150
2 slices lite whole wheat bread 90
2 t. light miracle whip 13
Homemade tortilla soup - all veggies and spices, no
Meat, fat (or tortillas). I’m guessing at this but think
This is very high guess 200
Curves bar 100
Tilapia (from Sams - 230 per serving) 460
2 c steamed broccoli 120
TOTAL 1398

Sunday

Oatmeal 160
1 c 1% milk 110
1/3 c. dried cranberries 130
Banana 105
3 ounces roasted chicken, no skin 150
2 slices lite whole wheat bread 90
2 t. light miracle whip 13
1 c. peas 100
Orange 70
100 cal bag of popcorn 100
4 oz broiled cod 120
Steamed carrots (5 whole) 150
WW ice cream sandwich 140
TOTAL 1438

These are very representative of how I eat each day. I always have at least 100 ounces of water. I haven’t had any diet pop for several months. I do usually have 1-2 cups of plain coffee each morning also. I’ve tried to guesstimate on the high side when I wasn’t sure of exact calorie count. Please help - I need some ideas. All suggestions are welcome.

OK - I’m off to finish fixing dinner.

Hugs, Carol

Carol: could it be sodium? I know it really wreaks havoc on some people.

Heather dw, glad to hear the ear is all cleared up.

Carol, I don't know about you, but bread seems to keep the weight on me. Although you're having lite bread, you might want to try and give up bread for a week and see what happens. Other than that, it all looked pretty good. Maybe you are just making muscles and that weighs more than fat.

I feel like getting my shoes on and doing some treadmill time....talk to you later

I just wanted to say a hi...and say how wonderful it is that you are all so motivated...I look forward to getting to know you all. I am on plan today (well as much of a plan as i have which is simply 3 healthy meals and low calorie snacks)

Enjoy your day/night all

Carol - I think you might want to actually up your calories a bit - even if just on intermittent days. You might try to calorie cycle a bit - eat 1800 one day, 1400 the next, then 1600, etc. Do you know what your percentages are carb/protein/fat? What you have here looks a bit carb heavy to me.

Heather – Is it sugar free jello? If so, that stuff has almost no calories at all.

Ammi – Hmm… trip to Rome or stay on the diet? I know which one is more tempting to me! But I totally hear you on not wanting to put things on the credit card.

Debbie – Hormones and TOM are such tricky things. I think I may have stalled recently because I took myself back off of the pill and it is messing with my balances. The important thing is that we keep on going.

Moosegirl – Congratulations on hitting the 50 pound mark! What a great milestone! I am so sorry to hear about you grandmother. and prayers to you and your family.

Catherine About your long arms and being able to give himself the Heimlich! Somehow I doubt that was part of his criteria for choosing you – just an added bonus.

Ratkity – I feel kind of stupid, but can you explain that joke to me? I feel especially bad about not getting it seeing as how I lived in Canada for two years.

Annie – I am so sorry to hear that you have been gotten by a bug! I hope you feel better really soon.

Tina - What a great NSV with your rain coat! Now just wait until it is too big to wear anymore!

Donna – Sorry to hear you are having computer trouble.

Kayley – Did you say getting up at 4:00am and not going to bed at 4:00am? Goodness girl, that is pretty horrendous!

Battle – I hope your trip goes well.

Story – How scary about the breast pain! I hope you get your test results back really soon.

Deb - and hope classes are going well.

Dusty – Which Bollywood video did you get? I love Bollywood. Do you get the show AVS (Asian Variety Showcase) where you live? I used to watch it a lot when I got TV out of New Jersey, and I could also get it in Atlanta, but here in CT I don’t get it any more. It is a review show of current Bollywood movies and music and is a lot of fun.

Sandy – I hope work calms down for you soon!

Kazz Sounds like a good start to me! Welcome to the main thread!

OK – It is getting late so that is about as far back as I can go tonight.

My knee has been acting up a bit, but I went to dance class tonight anyway. I am hoping it was just tense or something. I noticed the problem with it last night when we were doing stretches.

One funny thing about this dating site I am on is that my ex is also on it and when it searches for your best matches, he comes up first for me! Argh! It isn’t a mainstream site, but still!

Nancy: Good luck on the dating site. It is a big step, I know. I signed up at a dating site and only received inquiries from Nigerian scammers. I quit and then received a couple of what look to be real inquiries, but haven't rejoined yet. I'm thinking I may go to a bigger site, such as Match. Also, I signed up for speed dating, and that will take place late in February.

It must be weird to see your exe's face coming up first on the screen! Thinking back to any of the exes I've had, this would not be pleasant for me.

Ammi: Rome calls! Maybe next year.

Carol: I'm with Nancy in thinking you could increase your cals some.

Debbie: Hope you're having fun exercising! Sorry to hear about your bad day, but you're back in it. TOM is evil. I notice that my weight actually goes UP after TOM for a while. This was a surprise to me, but I've come to accept it.

Kazz: Welcome!

Hi and hugs to everyone else. That's all I can manage for now.

Today was a really bad eating day, but I'll be back on the horse tomorrow. I think what set me off was that I didn't eat enough in the morning, and was tied up all morning until 1:00 pm with no opportunity to eat. My stomach growled from 8 am on.

Heatherdw-When I try to figure out calories, I just add everything up, and then divide by the number of servings I get out of it. There have been times that I have even made huge pots of stew or soup, and ladled it out into serving bowls to figure out how many calories each bowl was. I try not to be quite that nuts anymore.

Carol-I’ve had plateaus of 6 months and 18 months before when I was completely OP. I’ve also had plateaus, where I wasn’t OP. Those are much easier because I know why I’m not losing. I’m convinced that I survived them because at the time I hated myself so much that it was like punishing myself to stay OP without any progress. When I hit a plateau now, a non-self imposed one that is, I change what I am eating entirely. I’ll take up an ethnic cuisine, spice things up. It’s like trying to fool my body into ramping up the metabolism. At other times I have had to increase my calories for half the week, kind of again to fool your body into thinking that you aren’t on a diet.

Nancy-I met my husband through an internet service. It was a special service for devout Catholics, and had a lot of safeguards to protect users from nuts. I was going to wait until I had reached my goal weight, but I realized that I had already wasted a good hunk of my life waiting to start my life once I had lost weight. I also wanted to meet a man who would love me for who I was, and not what I looked like. I’m not going to fool myself that I’m not susceptible to regaining the weight. It took a lot for me to put a photo on that looked like I really looked like. We are just perfectly suited for each other, and there would have literally been no way for us to have met any other way. Be truthful, be careful, but have fun with it.

Battle-when I don’t eat early, I start eating in the evening and don’t stop practically. I always carry a meal replacement bar in the bottom of my bag for emergency mornings.

Annie-When you are sick, you are supposed to stay home. Don’t make me come down there and straighten you out. It’s too freaking cold.

Debbie-My former roommate used to go off the wagon once a month. After she had a hysterectomy, it stopped happening. If I’m going to have to have chocolate or basically die, I can almost measure with a stopwatch exactly how long I have until TOM starts. Being cognizant of it is the first step to sidestep it.

Ammi-3 days in Rome almost sounds like something worth going into debt for. We get to take a lot of trips, but we don’t pay for them, or we’d never go anywhere. Go rent some movies filmed in Rome, the romantic kind, not the gladiator kind, and some really good espresso. Make your living room Roman, because lets face it, if you’re going to have a romantic get away, the view outside the hotel window doesn’t matter.

It is still snowing. The wind chill is supposed to reach -70F again tonight. I’m not moving from my chair. We went to the grocery store and put up provisions for the apocalypse. I’m sure the four horsemen would be arriving soon, but their horses refused at the border, and bolted South. They were going to proceed on foot, but the going was so hard they decided to head to Rio and Carnival. If it hits absolute zero, and I become one of those ice mummies, let the Discovery Channel know that my left profile is best for the views on the documentary.

Morning peeps - thank you for the suggestion to up my calories. I actually just started eating the bread in the last few days. Should I just eat a few more ounces or protein - I am basically pretty satisfied (full) with what I am eating. I guess maybe some non-fat yogurt would be good. Other "snack" suggestions. I am really trying to break the snack cycle as that is one of the big things that got me here in the first place - I want to break the cycle not just replace it. Make any sense?

Ok - gotta run - another crazy weather day here so may have a little longer commute.

Drink you water, move your bodies and SMILE.

Hugs,
Carol

I've been so busy I haven't posted here (but I've been reading!)

Ratkitten -- I loved the court script too!

Carol -- I am one who believes that people shouldn't starve themselves to lose weight and it doesn't sound like you're eating much at all! Patience is important!

I also believe in snacking. Lots of healthy snacks make it into my day every day. Lots of successful "losers" end up doing this, but I don't want to claim it's good for everyone. For me, it keeps me from getting tooooo hungry during the day.

Some yummy snacks:
* Cut up veggies and a little hummus or dip (w/low fat sour cream)
* yogurt or cottage cheese
* light cheese and a couple of crackers
* hard boiled egg
* a handful of nuts

There's more, but I have to run!

Hi girls! I only have a minute and wanted to say hi! And congrats to all the losers!!!! I'll have to catch up on posts this evening. Here's whats going on in my world: (just needed to talk.....)

..........many of you know that last year my daughters were in an awful automobile accident.......my youngest had severe head trauma and things were rough for weeks. Road to recovery was long and hard, but we survived it! Well she has been experiencing headaches, throbing, pressure, etc..........we see the "medical" doctor here this morning and then to get a CT scan. After we get the results, it will determine weather we go back to Childrens Hosp. in Pittsburgh to see her specialist!

I'll keep you posted -

jeanne

Good Morning. Hope everyone is doing well. I did not sleep much last nite as had some terrible storms here in Ohio and then the power went out. Well I awoke to find my computer is completely and uterly screwed up!! I had to borrow my daughters laptop to take care of work for the rest of this week. Which I cant do because all the system downloads etc are on my computer. What a bummer. I did however weight his morning and I am down some more. I am not going to post official numbers till friday which is my weigh in. Well I am off to do housework and worry about not working for a few days.

Have a great day!

babybear: I guess it's someone's way of telling you that you need a vacation. Congrats on the weight loss

jar: Oh dear! I hope it's nothing major. Let us know how it goes.

Since Wednesday is officially weigh in day, I stepped back on the scale to NO CHANGE UGHHHHH. I know it's a new scale but it hasn't budged since my first weigh in on this thing (Last thursday). As much water as I am drinking and I'm not even losing water weight? Something is definitely not right here. Lack of results makes me want to just quit. I'm one of those people who needs to see results to stay motivated.

Today will be a good opportunity for me to practice staying centered in my own needs and eating plan. I'm going to help my friend who is moving back to her home country with cleaning and emptying her apartment. Another woman will be there as well. Both the friend and the other woman are teeny tiny skinny little things, and they hardly eat. They can go all day without eating. I don't know if it's because they truly are not hungry or they have issues....but it doesn't really matter. In the past I have beat myself up for being hungry when they weren't. Like somehow they had the right way and I was a hopelessly flawed pig for needing more food.

The friend who is moving is also the one I've posted about recently, who was trying to get me to eat more than I wanted--seemingly to make herself feel better.

I am picking some food up for us for the day. My solemn vow is that I will listen only to my own self and not get mentally caught up in their issues or needs--whether I ultimately act on them or not. I will only listen to my own body and my own eating plan.

Hi Kkazz123,

Nancy, wow! that is so weird that he would be your best match. You must come up on his too then, huh? I'm sure there will be someone that is so fantastic that you'll be so happy.

Battle, Yes TOM is evil, that's for sure. I'm tracking my weight loss on a graph now to see how TOM affects my weight loss so I can be ready for it when it comes again. You have a safe flight tomorrow. I hope the day helping your friend goes well.

Catherine, I had to laugh because I did the same thing you did and thought I was nuts with ladling out food into separate bowls to get sort of an accurate calorie count, now I don't feel so crazy. What we do to lose weight huh? Stay warm and I think I just saw the four horsemen galloping down the road here. You just crack me up.

Carol, most diets tell us to have two snacks a day each between meals. So I wouldn't give them up completely. Maybe just have a piece of fruit or some raw veggies. I know my snacks are what help me to stay on the straight and narrow. I think the best bet is to up your calories like others have suggested.

Jeanne, I didn't know about your daughters and the accident. I hope that after they run some test, that it will be good news for your family. Take care and

Hi Tina, at least the power came back on or it would be pretty cold, wouldn't it? Rest up and hopefully the computer problems will be over soon.

Heather dw, DON'T QUIT!!! It's just a little blip or a plateau. Just give it a chance to work, and you'll see results. I understand about wanting if not needing to see results, have patience, it will happen.

I ended up doing about 6 minutes on the treadmill (so boring) and then doing another 20 minutes doing a WATP dvd. I feel sore today a little but plan on doing some more DDR since that seems the most fun and interesting for me. There's a lull between songs, but I do sweat!
Have a butt movin, water drinking day!
