You know, maybe it is time to make this thread more inclusive and not suggest that everyone need to set a goal. I can change the opening post. I know Kayley did something similar last month. For me, setting goals is often the only thing that gets my butt moving, but we are all different.
FWIW I think that is a super idea! I also am the type who needs to set the goal or I will do nothing much at all. But people do respond differently and for some that might be discouraging. Encouraging people to just come in and post their progress... goal or no goal... hey, if it helps someone, I say go for it!!
No exercise for me today, I always have a break on the weekend, just wanted to say to Sue, you've got a deal, we WILL make our goal this month Also, thanks for picking up on my typo with the total, honestly I can count, not that you'd know it from that post
Okay, I edited the opening page to incorporate both goal-setters and non. I also updated our totals to date, and we are only 11,066 minutes from 100K minutes -- 1/2 way to goal!
I think we really need to move it and shake it this summer. If last year is any indication, the last two months are tough: holidays, and cold weather (for many of us) and somehow less motivation. ..
But I think we will get more than 1/2 way there today!!
Angela -- I'm glad to see you posted your minutes. We honestly weren't trying to be unsupportive or scare you off. It sounds like you are really ROCKING the exercise and will really help our group total!!!!!
Okay Ammi, in that case I had best get myself in gear and get my butt out to the pool early this morning! I think later today I will air up my bike tires and give that a try. It is an el cheapo I got at a yard sale and has been on my outdoor deck all winter but if I can't make it work right I will go to the thrift store and look for another one. Bad part is this one is kind of heavy and I live in a third floor walkup!
I thought I had done well yesterday with my 105 minutes until I saw YOUR total... wow!!! I had best get in gear LOL. NOT that it is a competition of course... but that is just MY nature to be competitive and keep up my end of the stick.
I'll set my June goal as 600 (again...maybe I'll actually make it this tijme. )
Looks like so far through May we are on track to make our group goal of 200,000 minutes for the year. Yay! Let's keep up the great work!
Got a good start to the month with 75 minutes of walking this morning. I did the Race for the Cure and was able to finish the 5K in just a hair under 1 hour, plus I am counting 15 extra minutes for the time it took me to walk to and from my car and the start/finish line.
Special to Angela! Oh I am SO glad you decided to stick around! As others have shared our comments were not meant to be negative or hurtful, but rather encouraging. But sometimes things can come across on the Internet as different than they were meant (can't see facial expressions, body language, etc.). And really it is not a competition at all -- except there are some of (such as self LOL) who compete with themselves and see how many goals they can break etc. For some, that motivates; for others it discourages. But you are welcome to participate regardless of your "style" or personality, or whatever! Hang in there and thanks for giving us another chance!
