Ok I am excited now!!
Wow, Angela, that's actually a really high goal! I know I've been exercising a long while and don't get in over an hour a day every single day. In fact, I personally have never exercised that much for a whole month. (though, the whole reason this exercise thread started was because I don't really like to exercise! )

It seems you've started exercising and are doing well, but you might want to consider lowering it some, taking into consideration that some days will conspire against you!! The weather will be bad, or someone will be sick, or you'll be just too busy. Especially if you are just starting out -- the point is to build habits.

Anyway, I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm, but it's a thought.

Wow... Heather is that YOU? I am stunned! Super job! I would not have recognized you from the last picture I saw of you!! Yay, way to go!

And Angela, yah, I usually set 2000 as my goal also... but decided to start a bit lower this time since I have been out of it. That is a high goal and hard to meet!!

I am going to stick with 1200 mins again. I know I usually go over by a couple of hundred at least, but I like to have the breathing room in case something comes up and I can't work out as much as I plan.

Angela, I would agree that you have set a really high goal, and it would be wonderful if you met it, but don't beat yourself up if you don't. When I was losing weight I did about 80 mins a day, 40 mins in the morning and 40 mins in the afternoon. I never gave myself breaks and I ended up overexercising and making myself sick. I was trying to 'force' my weight down, but my body didn't like what I was doing to it. Once I backed off, my weight actually went down a little more anyway. I'm not telling you this to scare you, as everyone's body is different, but I just want you to be careful and take care of yourself.

No minute goals. No milage goals. Anything I set will be too easy or too intimidating.

I'll be here. That's my pledge. I'll be here, and I'll contribute. Scouts honor.

That's a neat pledge, Valerie! Not unnecessary "pressure" -- just commitment! Good for you!

I didn't really contribute in May but I HAVE been getting in approx an hour a day this past week. Getting ready to haul butt for June starting tomorrow.

Okay, Valerie, I'll be looking for you--and you can be looking for me!

I got a good start this morning, 16 minutes walking on a slightly easier trail, including some uphill, but not nearly as much as the other day. Muscles still ache from that long hike, but not so bad. I'm going to try to get to the state park as early as possible in the morning on weekdays. I suppose when July gets here I won't be able to go, but boy I'm way more motivated to walk when I'm walking someplace pretty, and not on broken sidewalk or in the road, as I have to when walking around my neighborhood.

So, personal total 16/300

Group total: 104 + 16 = 120

May was a huge flop for me with exercise and diet, but this month is going to be a good one, I can feel it in my bones So.....my goal will be 1200 minutes for this month, and I am starting well with....

Personal Total: 240/1200

Group Total: 120 + 240 = 260 WOOPS it's 360 (thanks Misti )

Hi Ammi... hey I know all about flops! We have the same goal for this month so let's do it!! WOW you did 240 minutes today!!! Puff puff puff I thought I had done well! You exercised for FOUR hours today? That is amazing!!!

I got off to a good start with 45 minutes of walking and an hour of water aerobics. So my total is 105 with 1095 to go.

Wait wait wait... the totals are wrong. 120 + 240 is not 260; it is 360 so I am changing it.

Group total 360 + 105 = 465

Valerie and everyone --

You know, maybe it is time to make this thread more inclusive and not suggest that everyone need to set a goal. I can change the opening post. I know Kayley did something similar last month. For me, setting goals is often the only thing that gets my butt moving, but we are all different.

And the best part is still rocking that group total!!!!

BTW, I'll leave the May thread open for a couple days to catch any stragglers!

I don't think anyone was being negative...you just don't want to shoot too high, and then not be able to make it (if you can, GO YOU, cuz I sure couldn't! LOL). No one's negative around here...sorry you took their comments that way...

Anyways!

35 mins elliptical for me. Did almost 3 miles...I was HUFFING it...lol. sorta. ha. Anyways, I was sweating like CRAZY. Always a good sign!

510 + 35 = 545
