Ammi -I've only managed to catch paul mckenna once this week on tv, have been working at A&E all week, up at 5.30 am, back home at 8pm, with my feet on fire!! Nurse training is hard even if u weigh 140, but at my weight I can't beleive I am in my last 6 months!! So I am going to try and see if I can get a copy from somewhere, altho I should know the techniques from his books anyway. I am sure that I will lose on this plan, but as its not dieting I think it will be much slower, But seeing as I have been losing the same stone now for 2 years, might not be any slower than the progress I was making on my own!! lol

Today I have a day off, so had a lie in and now tidying, washing, cooking and exercising to do. I am doing an aerobic workout at home the same as one I saw a nurse do the other day with a post cardiac rehab group! IT was quite hard enough for me so am going to try to replicate it! MY hubby has just joined the gym and I am going to be close behind him, but would like to lose literally a few more pounds first, maybe get under 300 then go.

Hope everyone has a great day

Good morning everyone.
I'm new but I'm just gonna jump right in

Ammi, I enjoy reading your posts. You are so uplifting!

Catherine, I am so glad you weren't hurt badly when you fell. Falling is one of my biggest fears. I have bad knees and my right one pops out at times. Usually I can tell when it's getting ready to and when it does I go down every time.

Valerie, congrats on the exercise.Several years ago I would get up early before work and walk on the treadmill. I used to tell everyone that I would exercise before I woke up and realized what I was doing

Annie, thank you for the welcome. I have a hard time cleaning house also. I have a bad back, hips, knees, you name it it's bad! I just do a room a day. I don't think I could clean my whole house in one day. I would be laid up in bed for a week after that.

Luan, those seatbelt bags are cute. I bookmarked that site. My daughter is into purses and shoes big time! She is almost 18. I will probably get her one of those for Christmas this year. Thanks for posting that site.

Kymberly, congrats on your loss this week.

EmilyMay, my hats off to you for going into nursing. My soon to be daughter in law is taking nursing. She is wanting to be a helicopter medic.

If I missed anyone please forgive me. I will learn who everyone is eventually.

G'Morning Chicks! Unfortunately I don't have to go in to work today. That would be nice, but I really need the cash.

There's an enormous red headed woodpecker type bird on my feeder this morning. It's huge and very cool. I bought plenty of seed and got more for Christmas, so the birds should be happy for quite a while.

I tried to do my TM last night watching the DiVinci Code, but only made it 10 minutes because I couldn't hear well enough. So I sat on my fanny and watched it, but at least I picked up a weight and worked with that. Now I've rented 3 comedies which should be much better for watching while I walk. My rule is that I can't watch them unless I'm treading. If I get off the mill, then I have to turn off the DVD. Kind of tying reward to effort.

So far today I have 20 minutes of exercise in, and 20 oz of water. I'm off to a wonderful start, and my next stop is the library to get some genuine studying done. I'm just not putting enough into that, and if I don't start soon, then I might as well confess that I've wasted the $7-8,000 and I'm not going to do anything more with my life. That just isn't acceptable, so today - no excuses, not even housework - I'm going to the library.

CATHERINE - Ouch! I hope you recover quickly from that hit you took. How scary! I'm SO glad it wasn't worse!!

Oh gosh, I wanted to say a bunch of other things, but I could spend all day with you and then I'd miss the library. I'm off for now, but I'll do my best to do as you'd want me to today. Hugs and cheers to all of you!

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone has a fantastic day!

We have a sales conference today and tomorrow, so I'll be MIA for the next few days. What I'm really worried about is the food they're going to serve. Last year's fare wasn't too healthy -- they serve a lot of junk.

The good news is, tonight we have our annual Awards Gala and it's buffet style and I asked for the menu items ahead of time and there will be things that are healthy and I can actually enjoy!

I think this'll be a good test for me. Up until now I've been able to control everthing I've eaten because it's what I buy and cook, now it's in someone else's hands....it'll be a good way to test if I CAN make the right choices in any situation. Wish me luck!

The other bonus is..our HR manager also joined WW, so I have her for support!

PS..Catherine, I'm glad your injuries weren't worse! Good thing it was winter and there was a snow bank, I'd hate to think what would've happened on concrete. Yikes! Thank goodness for small favours, eh? <---had to sneak in some Canadianisms

Hi again! Had good day yesterday - started off well today too... looking forward to my swim at lunchtime. So great to have this support form everyone! My DH is starting to realize how I have to eat too... he made tuna casserole for dinner last night (quick meal - our son had hockey). and as he was serving it into bowls he looks at me and says... "so...how are you gonig to get your extra protein?" (I ended up adding another can of tuna to my serving). Its he first time he's actively seemed concerned about what I'm eating. It was nice.
I'll update you later on how the swim went... looking forward to a few minuts in the hot tub afterwards!

Kymberly - Well yes I guess when you see those guys losing 10 lbs you would think your loss wasn't much. But then guys always lose more than girls, and I bet they won't have such big losses next week. You just keep your losses steady and you'll get to your goal weight, look how far you've already come

Erika Leigh - I hope you get to work out on the exerciser when you get home tonight. Just think of it like this, even if you only do 5 minutes, that's 5 minutes more than nothing and it all adds up

Well done on not having any soda for a full day, how goes it today, are you still sticking to the green tea and water?

Em - I bet if we added up all the stones we have lost and regained over the years that we could have been to our goal weights at least twice or even three times by now. It's a frustrating thought isn't it and it's one of the reasons I am so determined that this will be THE diet, the one that sees me getting to my goal weight and keeping the weight off.

So sorry that you've been so busy in work and that you haven't seen Paul on GMTV, but if you go on their website apparently it's all on there even with little video clips too.

Once you have done your last 6 months training what happens next, will the hospital take you on full time, or do you have to start looking for work. Do you want to specialise in anything?

Shiffysmom - thanks for your comments on my posts, I sometimes think I come across too much like a Pollyanna, always looking for the bright side, but heck it's better than focusing on the bad stuff

You mentioned your soon to be daughter in law, I take it that you will have a wedding to attend soon?? I hope it will be a beautiful time for all and that your son and his bride will be very happy

Valerie - what a good idea only watching those DVDs when you work out, that's great motivation. I used to listen to music when I worked out on the Gazelle, but I found myself still looking at the TV even though nothing was on it I have started watching music channels now, so I get the music and something to watch

Simone - with making the right food choices while you are at the sales conference. Try to remember that anything in moderation is better than feeling guilty about eating something a little naughty and then just giving up altogether and eating all you can. Have faith in yourself, I am sure you'll make good choices.

bahecasmart - I am pleased to hear that your hubby is supporting your diet 100%. It makes it much easier knowing you have your loved ones support.

Have fun swimming, I look forward to hearing how it went later.

Bye for now,

Hugs,

Ammi

I’ve been having trouble getting back on track since we came back from our trip. I do okay for the first half of the day, and then just blow it. Right now I’m nauseous, so that seems to make it easy to not overeat at breakfast. I’m also late. Not seriously late just a little, and my back is killing me, so I’m sure that I’m fixing to. Anyway, I’m trying to focus on having one good day in a row, so I got out a clipping from CheckUp magazine, one of those free things at the pharmacy, by Dr. Nathan Cobb.

It is on 10 Tips For Putting A Bad Day In Its Place.

1. Put it in perspective. Remember that there are 365 days in a year. This day is only one of them. Tomorrow will bring new opportunities.

2. Count your blessings. It sounds simple but it works. Make a list of 20 things you are grateful for in your life. Add to it every day. Review your list when you are feeling down.

3. Use Humor. Laughing is a great way to release emotional energy and rise above your setbacks. Humor is healing. Learn to laugh at yourself. Crack a joke at your own expense. Look for the absurdity in the situation. Find someone to laugh with.

4. Focus on solutions. Don’t dwell on all of the things that went wrong. Train your brain to think about solutions. What can you do about the problems you encountered? What actions can you take starting today?

5. Focus on positives. What you focus on determines your reality. Try not to let a few bad events determine how you feel about the whole day. Often there are good events that go unnoticed. Focus on those positive things about the day that you may have taken for granted.

6. Take a mental vacation. At least once in your day, stop what you are doing and take a few minutes to calm your mind and body. Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Loosen your shoulders. Relax your muscles. Visualize yourself in a peaceful setting.

7. Lose yourself. Instead of focusing on your own problems, volunteer your time to help a friend, family member, or neighbor. You’ll feel better about making a difference in someone else’s life and it will get you out of your self-focusing thinking.

8. Avoid spillover. Unresolved stress from one area of life, such as work, often spills over into other areas, such as your home or friendships. Resolve to put your work problems away when you are home. Try not to take it out on your loved ones.

9. Keep a journal. Writing can be very helpful in letting go of negative emotions. Writing it down can clear your head, help you better understand yourself, and create perspective. Don’t worry about how it sounds. Just put your pen on the paper and start moving your hand.

10. Plan for tomorrow. Before you go to sleep at night, make a plan for the next day. Decide what you will do differently. Set some short-term goals of things you want to accomplish.

So I am off to make a list of things I’m grateful for, and I’ll check back in later.

Hey everyone-

Our internet/phone has been out and not really working for a couple of days now. We have had some really bad weather and it messes up the sattelite connection. Anyways...I was having 3FC withdrawls! I just love coming here and reading the posts. Not much going on here. Literally just cold and dark. I am counting the days to seeing sunshine! I can't wait to move now! Oh and we have had polar bear sightings in town. One of the native people up here(eskimo) shot one and it was 11 feet tall standing and 2000 pounds!! I was freaking out when I heard that.

ANNIE~Speaking of bears...do you ever see any in Idaho or Washington? I was just curious about that! And WTG on all the exercise hun! You are doing great!

CATHERINE~ I hope your knee/leg is ok. So sorry that happened to you.

ZELMA~I was so glad to see you post hun!

AMMI AND LILION~ I am cheering you on to make it to your 100 pound loss! You girls can do it!

to anyone new!

And congrats to all of you who have had losses and NSVs!

Well I am going to go clean the house. Hope you all have a good day!

Went for my swim at lunch - did 12 laps ... took about 20 minutes... feel great! I think this is something I could really commit to doing at least 2-3 times a week. Even had enough time to eat my lunch afterwards! (couscous salad, raw cuke & carrots, chicken noodle soup) Woohoo me!
(oh ...btw...by real name is Vanessa)

Good Morning ladies, and any gentlemen still around,

I can still say good morning cause it is only 11:20 a.m. here. lol.

Alice: Glad you are finally having your It seems like we are too. It has been pretty cold and our kitchen pipe froze. It has been snowing a little bit every day so that is nice for us. We like snow. Just wondering how is your precious doggie doing?

Luann: I loooooove the idea of a charm braclet! I figured out if I did a charm for every 5 pounds til I reach my goal..... that would be 68 Charms. I think I will have to devise a different reward system with the charms like maybe my first 10% weight loss, Under 400 pounds charm, fitting in the waiting room chairs at my ortho charm. etc. lol. Great idea though. Here in Post falls I saw a Charm store the other day. I am going in there. I think I deserve a charm for getting under 500 pounds to get it started! lol.I bet you will have your purse sooner than you think!

Kymberly: Yea Congrats on -3.5 pounds. Awesome!

Nitekat: I am very proud of you for going to the gym and working out for so long.

Ammi: Okay I have to admit my back was aching after running the "hoover" I think is what you and Sharon call vacuuming. I was chair bound after that but, happy as punch to report today my back is feeling fine again!

Erika: Good for you walking around the school like that. Make sure you report it on your exercise chart! Don't sell yourself short. Walking is something!

Emilymay: I hope you join the gym before you get under 300 pounds! Why wait honey? Do it now if you can. As our own lovely Catherine says, live now don't wait until you lose weight! You can do it! Go with your hubby and just check it out sometime. Maybe it won't be as scarry as you think it is. I'm very proud of you for all the nursing school stuff you are doing. I can only imagine how very hard that is when you aren't over weight being on your feet all day. You are going to make a super nurse!

Shiffysmom:

Val: You better be at the library missy! I know you can do this Val. Think about how much better your life will be when you are finished with your schooling. It is paid for and waiting for you! It will be so nice to work for more money working less hard! Come on girl, you can do it. Loved chatting with you sweetie. I saw you were walking this morning!

Simone: Good luck at your sales conference. Usually big companies offer lots of low cal things in this day and age in addition to the fatning stuff. Here's hoping you can stay away from the junk.

Vanessa: boy I'm glad you told us your name. lol. Beautiful name. I have a niece named Vanessa too. So glad that you had fun It is so nice to have something you enjoy. Good job on your light lunch too!

Catherine: Hope you are back to your spry little self soon enough. Thank you for sharing the list. I am going to get right on the 20 things I am grateful about list!

Mechelle: Oooo. Did you see the polar bear? I would be down there snapping photos. I know you are without a car though so that would make it diffiicult to do. lol. Yes there are bears here. I can imagine that in Spokane you wouldn't see one unless he was lost for sure. My hubby and I just saw one about 2 months ago at a park. We have lots more trees and forest type terrain than Spokane area so the likelyhood of seeing a bear is higher here than there. Hubby and I take Sunday drives after church to enjoy the wildlife and have seen tons of elk, deer, turkey, grouse, some bear, well, some of everything except Moose that everyone else in the world seems to see but us. lol. Occasionally bears will get into people's back yards looking for dog food or trash but that is rare and I've only heard of it here in Idaho not Spokane area. Usually out of town too.

Patti: 15 minutes of grocery shopping is something on hurt legs and feet. Heck. It is something when you aren't hurt.

Well, It am off to do my and go today too. Take care and hope you are all having op days.
Blessings to you all,
Annie

As for me, the results for our Biggest Loser was posted today. My team is number 4 out of 50. we were #2 last week, so all things considered, im happy. My friend i mentioned(the male) his team is #2 this week but they deserve it. This contest at work has actually brought many of us closer than before, its like we are all trying to help and encourage each other. I manged to excersise every day the past 2 weeks and my food has been good. thanks again for the encouragement and help
Have a good day and hopefully i can post again tonight

Catherine - Happy Anniversary. Sorry about our accident. That sucks. I've never been seriously injured but I fear falling all the time. I think it's b/c I'm such a klutz.

Hi everyone else! I haven't been around the last couple of days. We had to go out of town. Tonight I'm signing up for WW with a friend. I WI'd at home this morning and I stayed the same from last week. We'll see what the WW scale says tonight!

Default LOL No posting at school my foot!!

I tried to just get on here and read and see what you girls were up to.....yeah right.

I'm still sticking to the Green Tea and Water only thing. So far I think that I've had 5 bottles.

I'm gonna count my minutes but only if it's over 10. I think that's fair. But then again it takes at least 10 minutes from one class to another.

I think that I'm at like 100 minutes so far. Still sucky considering this month is halfway over and I'm still like 500 behind.

LOL I love you girls!!
