Man, I can't believe how many days it's been since I posted. At least 2 or 3 - good thing no one was wondering where I was or what I was doing.
No personals in this message, though rest assured that while I've been lazy at posting, I have been keeping up with the gossip. It's nice to have you all to keep me realizing that my life isn't the only crazy one out there!
Let's see - what's been going on? Well, I've had 3 days of NO exercise. Weather has just plain sucked and I don't have an "inside" routine yet. If I can't walk, I guess I don't exercise. Monday night, I worked in the basement with a friend again. Got most of the vapor barrier up -- the basement is now warmer than the upstairs. Go figure, eh? Yesterday night, I went to a "dinner & learn" class where we talked about the relationship between foods and headaches. You know...what foods can cause them and what foods can prevent them. What was interesting was the large number that were on both sides of the fence. Go figure, eh?
I figured I was close enough to the 1 month mark to fill out my "Bio" questionnaire. I don't think much is new to most of you guys on here, but I figured what the heck.
On the weight loss front, I did it! Yesterday, I officially hit the half way goal to my first challenge. It feels good. Of course, there was a birthday at work today which meant someone brought in homemade Skor brownies. I did have a few too many, but hopefully things will be okay tomorrow. The calorie count doesn't look too out of whack, so here's hoping. I think for my next challenge (look at me, only half way done my first challenge and I'm thinking about the next. What an over-achiever. ), I'm going to try to work on my water consumption.... But that'll be a new year thing.
Before I go, I want to post something I got in my email today. I got a good giggle out of it.... Apologies to those who have already seen it.

Subject: Health Concerns
Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true? A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it...don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap. >
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables? A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake? A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio? A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program? A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you? A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!!... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle? A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me? A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure? A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle? A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!
To all the beauties out there - take care & stay on program!
Stevi: You poor thing:Bless your heart....I hope and pray things will start looking up for you girl!!! You'll be in my prayers sweetie!!!!
MPie: Thank you so much for the encouragement, It so hard and I can't find any info on why I'm not losing like I think I should be.....Can any of you help me? Mpie: Your family is darling!!!Thanks for sharing!!!
Wanna: Plz send your scale to me so I can feel better too!
Carol: Hi! Drink plenty of water!!!
Fit: Good luck with your contest!!!! I wish we could get a contest started here on the web, that would be fun!!!!
Goddess: I would turn the people with the dog in too, You should be able to feel safe in your own neighborhood!!!
Goddess: LOL thanks BTW, my moms neighbors are "tweekers" too, and have pitbulls (whats up with that) The thing is that they are usually off the chain, ( the dogs, not the tweekers) and mom feeds them, so they are super sweet, but I still don't let DD around them.
Jenny: your probably gaining muscle, which weighs more then fat. I know it sounds like an oxie moron (sp?) or would that be catch 22. Never the less, if you hang in there, the scales will catch up with your progress, but in the mean time, your pants are probably a little looser right?
Fit: good for you. I'll bet the lbs will start flying off with that modivation. Sounds like you have a good chance of winning too, men seem to lose faster then women.
Stevi: what a nightmare

Hi to everyone I'm crafting again tonight so i'll do my best to post again tonight.
today was employee appreciation lunch. Turkey n dressing...n fixins......i had one small slice of turkey, half the big scoop of potatoes, but ate all the stuffing. I even had a small wedge of pie. I got work to do though, gotta drop the dang weight!
ok i know it's because he's male (no offense Zeph) but dangit, I've been working almost a month longer than hubby's been gone....he's lost more weight than i have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
got rehearsal and working late tonight so i'll post again tomorrow....any help/thoughts/inspirations??
My DH was off of work yesturday I did good throut lunch, then about 4 we both got a craving, and we split a blizzard. So then for supper, I had fast food. then last night, I had 2 donuts. UGGHHH, what a shame, I was back on track again. Well, I'm gonna just shack it off, and do better today. I did better when I had all the WW matirials, and mom said I can borrow them again. Maybe that will help. Well, holy, I don't think I can be much help. My dh loses faster then me too. The only thing is that he hasn't stuck to a plan in a long time, but he hasn't gained anything. I guess, because he has a lot of muscle. He only needs to lose around his waist.
I think it's hard for me these days because I'm in a comfort zone. I'm not were I want to be, but people say oh, your doing good. Oh, I can really tell you've lost weight. And DH has always thought I look fine, so its hard to stay modivated. Maybe if I tooks some revised Before and after shots, so I can see where I'm at...
Hang in there holy men ALWAYS lose faster then women it just how it is i always get pissed at my DH cause he has always been able to drop 10 lbs just by going to the bathroom LOL but really it does happen this way you just have to accept that your body is droping the pounds as quick as it can SAFELY so hang in there YOUR DOING GREAT
WANNA~~ im glad im not the only one with tweekers in my neighborhood LOL i like the chained up part TOO FUNNY
take care every one i'll check in later
Morning everybody.
My mood has definetly improved. My car hasn't, but I'm better. I called this morning about it (as the guy just doesn't bother to up date me) and the new computer arrived, they installed it and .....NOTHING. They are completely baffled as to what is wrong. The lead tech was telling me the Mechanic working on it has been working on Saturns for years and has never seen anything like this. What happens if they can't fix it? With my Warranties and all? I told DH its near time he got involved (the big guns are coming out!!)
On a positive note, I had my audition last night. Went VERY well. They guys in the band are older (50's) and the set list they have now dosen't compliment my voice much (lots of lower key guy songs) so they agreed to learn new stuff just to keep me. They had another audition for next week but decided to cancel it and stick with just me. I was flattered. They learn the songs VERY fast! In just that one rehearsal they picked up the basics of 4 new songs. I was amazed. But that kinda the point of playing in another band.
Thanks for all the support guys, your all too cool. and sweet. and nice. You prolly smell good too....(I'm a dork)
RX~ I was cryin'!! Thats funny stuff!
Goddess~ If I have tweekers here they are very sneaky. lol I was brought up in a ghetto of sorts. (off and on) so I feel ya. I have ZERO tolorance for their inconsiderate low class crap. If ya snack the he!! out of just one they all get the message!
Cristi~ Your funny too!! The chain!!! HA!
Misourpie~ Cute kiddos! Did you slip the lil guy some cough syrup for that last photo??lol
Fit~ I hope your feeling better. I would be a mess trying to work, take care of the house and family while all comotose...your a champ.
Holy~ Do you have the Vue as well? I really liked my car...untlil now. Its always been so reliable. Now I don't know if I'll ever trust it again.
Jenny~ Thanks, your a sweets as well.
BTW, I think that the ability to pick up songs so quickly comes with age. THe pastor at our church is like that. MY DH will learn a new song, and haveing never heard it befor, the pastor can do a guitar solo by the end of the song. He makes that guitar sound like it singing the song
Hi all! Havin' a pretty good day. Up too early but that's par for the course here in my world. I didn't get a nap today tho cause I had to take mom to the doctor. She's 76 and doesn't drive (and that's a good thing). I think I may pop in a dvd and let the man watch that for a little bit. I know I'm a bad mom. Go ahead and say it. Oh and if you'd like to volunteer for babysitting duty I'd love to hear from you!
i love to see the pics Christie! I am a picture hound too. I just have to upload a bunch right now. lol
Stevi, sorry about the car. I used to have a Saturn and i loved it!! Never had any issues and it was 5 yrs old when I bought it. Not sure why I got rid of it. I was going through a "thing" and just had to have a newer car. I bet I'd still have the darn thing too.
to everyone else. Sorry, I read the posts and didn't respond at the time and I'm too darn tired to go back Make it a great day all!
Hello everyone! Whew, you guys talk a lot! I had a huge setback yesterday. I fell face first into a bag of Halloween candy and ate my way out. Ugh. I even made myself sick with it. dumb! Dumb! Dumb!
Doing better today. I have to find some evening snacks that don't get me in trouble!
Tomorrow is a holiday for me. Yippee! Dh and ds are off too. Dd will likely go to d/c in the morning so we can get the house cleaned and the truck inspected (so we can renew the plates hopefully for the last time - want a new truck). I rescheduled my massage for tomorrow at 11 and then will go pay off my JCP cc bill and maybe do a little Christmas shopping. The boys are going to the farm to scout for deer (opening day is Sat). I'll pick up dd early (after naptime) and go do something with her. Maybe I can squeeze in some exercise too! Should be a great day.
Today has been ok. I packed breakfast and lunch and ate at my desk. I'm through my first big cup of water (Lawrence - that is a great way to become a water drinker - keep it in arm's reach ALL the time and just drink every time you think of it - or see it! - taking drink now!). Went out on some inspection of a place where we hope to build new storm sewers and another site where we just built a new detention basin (up the dam and down the other side and then back again) so at least I "moved" a little today. Not going to have much time for anything else. Mil is coming to babysit tonight so I can go to my meeting at church. I'm looking forward to going out for one drink afterwards with some of the other ladies. Will have to avoid any snackies though. One margarita shouldn't kill me diet-wise though. I'll order a water too
Last night I did OK. Got to my meeting on time. The tour was good. We went to a fave restaurant and I skipped the heavy alfredo sauce that I was craving and had a salad. It had too much cheese and dressing on it, but overall it was small and I didn't have anything else. I was pissed that they discontinued letting you buy a side dish of pasta (how I usually get my fix on the flavor without going overboard). Money hungry *******s!
Thanks for the comments on my kiddos. I sure think they are special. Might feel a little less so after being a single mom all weekend (dh gone hunting). LOL. But they are good kids regardless.
Lawrence - I've seen that funny email before. Thanks for the grin - important to not take the world too serious!
Karen - OMG about the Halloween candy. The stuff is evil for sure!
Mamabear - with dh working a ton of OT, ds has been "parked" in front of our TV way too much these days. So count me in the "bad mom" club. LOL
Christie - keep the pics coming. You all look great. I love taking pics. Since going digital I've gotten into making photo books on Shutterfly. I have one going now that is only two months from last spring that is like 56 pages long - oops. That will be $$. Oh well. Our school scrip program just added Shutterfly onto the program.
What is it with men losing faster. Just not fair. Damn higher lean mass! LOL
Gotta run. Been procrastinating WAY too much today. Take care all. I might be a bit MIA the next few days, but I'll be thinking of ya! God bless.
I have an idea to run past you...you know how we've gotten sooo busy that it's hard to keep up? Here on 30-Something's, we're always just had a "thread of the week", because we used to be a pretty slow board. What do you think of switching things around a bit, and just starting your own thread each time you wanna talk about something...KWIM? Instead of a weekly sticky.
Or, if you think we've got enough action going on, maybe we can have some sub-forums, or just separate threads, like:
Any other ideas? I'm just thinking it might not be soo overwhelming to come and catch up, if you have shorter threads...even if you have more places to click, KWIM?
